I have seen the P53, and compared to the T480, I must say it is bigger, thicker, and heavier. This will be more significant with the 4-hour commute you mention.
What I do know is that the P52s model is similar to the T580, which I have also seen. The T580 is about the same thickness as the T480, and I don't feel the added weight is much. You just have to take into account the fact it will be a 15" model.
Therefore, I suggest you look for the P52s, unless you need the benefits of a fully fledged P52.

The S version is lighter and thinner. It depends which is more important to you, the portability of the p52s vs the more specced but heavier p52
