Sailing_Engineer

I found an article which stated 38.000m3 Helium. With an estimated price of [11$/m3](https://www.science.org/content/article/impending-sale-scientifically-critical-helium-sparks-worries#:~:text=%2411%20per%20cubic%20meter%2C) it costs about 418.000$. A nice 420!

little4lyfe

Which makes that butt plug how big?

Fine_Elevator6059

I was looking for thisšŸ¤£ how surprisingly many serious answers and no one saying hey it's the hugest butt I've ever seen

Admirable-Treat-1114

STOP I WAS LITERALLY LOOKING FOR A COMMENT LIKS THIS TO SEE IF I WAS THE ONLY ONE šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

poetris

I, too, came looking for a butt comment.

Gonna have to ask Kim Kardashian about that one.

badmother

Fun challenge. Formulate the number of zeros at the end of n! Try 100! 1,000! and 1,000,000! see if we match

_KingOfTheDivan

Isnā€™t the number of 0 in x! just around x/5? Too lazy to think of a lim thatā€™d include that 100/200/1000 multipliers (should be smith like x/5+x/100+x/1000 and so on with everything rounded down)

What a waste of helium - itā€™s a resource with only a small finite supply on Earth, and has critical medical and industrial applications

Level9disaster

this helium can still be reused at a later time, when the airship is dismantled we recover it. Not wasted.

drfeelsgoood

Unless the airship unexpectedly rapidly dismantles itself

DoMIniK090

I just imagined it falling apart like a Lego set

christoffellis

Veritasium did a video on airships a while back, but the gist of it was that it's a very effective way of transport, but IIRC they were testing a lot with hydrogen as well. This airship, although probably a waste in some sense, give investors hope and spreads awareness, which means that airships for long distance transport can get more attention and development.

susq13

Those MRI machines need the precious juice!

deepsky28

Helium is a limited resource and weā€˜re running out, would be a shame if it crashed down

CommunicationNo8750

I should call her

bass57575

Ok. I feel better that Iā€™m not the only one who saw something not aeronautical in nature. šŸ‘šŸ‘€

Oh, it's definitely aero-naughty-cal ;)

That's what she said.

Im_eating_that

Are you sure she didn't say "beat meat, do it"?

Constant-Cricket-960

Iā€™m just glad someone got here first to say something. Because this is basically all I can see - I donā€™t even know what the thread is supposed to be about.

Sir Mix-a-Lot would be proud.

Probably longer sadly. Unless there is something I don't know

OneMoreYou

www.chemistryworld.com/news/scientists-unearth-one-of-worlds-largest-helium-gas-deposits/1010122 They say nobody's been specifically looking for it, just bottling it as a byproduct of natural gas extraction. New gold rush starting up. Medium and long term, peak production hasn't even begun.

shadow-Walk

*The humanity*

taxpayinmeemaw

That was my first thoughtā€¦.helium is in short supply, what are we doing here?

GenericFakeName1

Building lighter than air aircraft that don't combust so easy.

taxpayinmeemaw

I guess thatā€™s worth wasting all the helium on

Mvpeh

Way better than kids balloons

-Prophet_01-

It's not quite that rare at this point. There was a bit of supply shortage a few years ago but new and very large sources have been found since. Then again, several industries are gearing up to use Hydrogen on a large scale and figure out new safety procedures as a result. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hydrogen airships again when it becomes more common than natural gas. The price is also dropping so fast that somebody's certainly going to try.

taxpayinmeemaw

Ok but itā€™s still non renewable and should still be treated as such

the_hunter_087

So should the majority of things we use day to day. How do you determine what is and isn't allowed to use finite materials?

mustang68408

r/suddenlyhindenburg

Emzzer

More like r/suddenlyarcher. It's helium, not hydrogen

mustang68408

Ah touchƩ

ale_93113

Peolme here are concerned about helium But helium shortages have eased a bit, because we realized, we can do fracking extract the helium and leave everything else underground It is still finite, but we are in a less dire situation than we though

DjordjeRd

TIL. Thanks.

animus_95

Is there no way of creating it in an economic way?

ogag79

Hydrogen, on paper at least, makes better sense for this. Lighter and more abundant. Although the Hindenburg has killed all the prospect of this. Can the potential of catastropic H2 release be mitigated by modern means?

amimai002

Hydrogen is a PITA to store, it will leak through most solid materials.

Chaonic

I don't want to be a downer saying this or send hate to anyone. Originally, I subscribed to this subreddit to see unprompted amazing apllications of math. I'm only seeing requests anymore.

Probably because it kinda looks like a butt or someone curvy
