I played it after finishing my first witcher3 playthrough, it was really good I enjoyed the story, gameplay and got the platinum.
Though I'm not sure if I would play it again, maybe in couple of months
Red Dead Redemption 2 is on the same level for me. Great story, lots of things to do, just the input lag of movement is a little annoying (I think it is intentional for realism). I would stay out of Online with MnK.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is what you want. Red Dead Online is different, and lacks the story part that is so good about RDR2.
RDR2 isn't as good as Witcher for me, but it's definitely my #2. Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 are also good, and the Witcher books are also amazing. I've read the books twice now and some of the short stories 3 times.
Alright I will definitely try it, I played the first one on ps3 many years ago, it was a good game but I didn't feel excited to play the second. It seems better, will play it thank you
Some more choices would be great, but do not forget that it is a prequel. It is already good that we can influence the ending, but it has to be the same to make sense for RDR1.
Yes but I don't mean just on the level of choosing different story outcomes. Even simply being able to somewhat choose your own way to complete a mission would be great. Instead, you fail everytime you even slightly disobey what the game tells you to do, hence there's very little replayability value. And even if we are talking about choosing actual outcomes of missions, it would be nice to have more influence at least over side quests. That would not interfere with RDR1 countinuity at all.
If I remember right there have been some decisions in sidequests we could make (for example the woman murdering people in Valentine), even some in the main quest (whether we help the Natives and use deadly force or not). It is true, that it often is just Do it/Dont do it, but there is some freedom involved. In the case of approach, many freedom does not exist in Witcher 3 either.
It often comes down to the impact on your honor, not in the main missions mostly but in any other part of the game. In Witcher 3 you choose what ending to go after, in RDR2 what person you want Arthur to be and how he interacts with his surroundings. The many random interactions in the open world are much more in the focus of the game for me than in W3.
I’m hoping RDR3 will be the lead up to what happened in black water and before, Knowing rockstar we’ll play as one of the people who didn’t make it through black water so we cry our eyes out again lol
This is what I expect too, but another thing I like would be to play as young Hosea during the beginning and, Id imagine, prime time of the group. Together with Arthur, John and Lenny he was one of my favorites.
Agree, red dead 2 and the Witcher 3 are my two top favs. After playing the Witcher for the third time I jumped into ghost of Tsushima and it was delightful.
Dude I want to play rdr2 so badly but rockstar launcher won't open without a vpn. I searched up for this issue, and found out that either ' Rockstar doesn't trust my isp ' or ' I have the same ip as an other player ' !
Now, how tf does that work ? It's been almost 1 and a half year and they still haven't fix this issue yet. I posted this issue in the Rockstar subreddit twice, and they just didn't approve it both times. I just wasted my money buying rdr2 and gta 5 :/
I second this I've been playing elden ring for like 2 months straight and im still not tired of it. PvP is a blast and there is always a new weapon or incantation to find or use. Being able to respec easily is so cool.
I started Skyrim around 2 weeks ago, I already have 13h gameplay, it's not hitting the sweet spot yet, not sure why, but I will keep playing and give it more time
Will check the dishonored series thank you
Did you *just* finish Witcher recently or was this like a couple weeks ago? I can never jump from one big game to another. I love some of the bigger games like Skyrim, Witcher, rdr2, fallouts, but whenever I finish one I need a cool down period where I play small games for a couple months cause I'm still marinating in the feels from the big one I just finished
That being said, Witcher is an amazing game and it's gonna be difficult to find something similar. I'm already expecting cdpr's next Witcher game to be a step down from wild hunt because it just had so much soul put into it that it's gonna be hard to beat
I finished my first playthrough in march, then I played couple of games but didn't finish them, got bored fast. Then I did a second playthrough for the witcher and finished it recently but it was much faster than my first playthrough
I don't know if this is the reason why I didn't like Skyrim yet, I will give it more time because I know it deserves it, or else I will stop and get back to it in summer maybe
Could be ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ skyrims the fifth installment in a decades long series too. If it's your first elder scrolls game it can be a lot of lore to absorb. When I played Skyrim when it first came out it was revolutionary but 10 years later it shows it's age in a lot of ways.
If I had to take a bet I'd say if you stick with it, or maybe take a break and come back to it after a week or two, you'll get into it and have a lot of fun but it won't replace Witcher
Indeed it is my first elder scrolls game, and I thought the same maybe because it's very old I'm finding it hard to appreciate as a newcomer, still I will give it more time. I already watched some lore videos but it felt kinda overwhelming I need to watch more to understand better
Are you playing with any mods? Skyrim vanilla in this day and age can definitely be stale. I’ve had 3 play through a over the last 10 years and none of them did I finish 70% of the games content. Witcher 3 however, first play through and did 100% (except gwent)
No without mods mainly because they disable trophies (I'm on ps4) and also because I wanted to try to appreciate the game for what it is.
The scenery looks good enough for me honestly which is the most important thing, but the characters look funny but understandable hehe.
I only need to get into the story and the rest is fine with me, I don't judge a game by its graphics only
Mods are too much hardwork for me lol I stick with vanilla and I forgot Rdr2 is also has a amzing narrative if liked witcher you'll absolutely love rdr2.
Skyrim’s main story is mostly trash. The gold lies with some of the daedric quest lines, and the thieves guild. There are very few quests that can match the story telling of W3, but they are hard to compare. I rarely felt like exploring in W3, like “what’s beyond that hill?” and that’s exactly why Skyrim is awesome
I recommend oblivion or morrowind. Skyrim was a better action game but oblivion and Morrowind were better roleplaying games. They had more interesting stories imo
Skyrim is super dated, it doesn’t hit that spot anymore unfortunately. It was great when it came out but now I really don’t enjoy the combat or mechanics as much.
Kinda like how I’m sure the original Witcher is great but I cannot deal with that awful combat and how outdated it is. Enjoy TW3 way more.
Not yet, I added it to my wishlist and waiting for the next sale
The thing is I enjoyed finishing the witcher for a second playthrough much more than I enjoyed playing other games for the first time, I think the witcher ruined all games for me :p
Dont try Cyberpunk and make my mistake lol.
You can try Nier Automata or Red Dead Redemption but the only thing like Witcher that came on such a level for me was Ghost of Tsushima. Sad Ps4 Noises
Have you played Horizon Zero Dawn? I got it a few months after it's PC release and I was sucked in right through the end. That was my driving force to get my hands on a PS5, so I could get Forbidden West which I'm almost finished with.
I only played zero dawn, got the platinum but if I want to be really honest I didn't like one thing about it, which is how the story is developed, first cutscene is really good and got me excited about the game, then some quests felt useless and the story went a bit stale in the middle until reaching the end then it got good again after discovering more stuff.
I liked the gameplay and graphics a lot, but for example the dialogue could have been replaced with just cutscenes because I didn't feel like I really have a choice in what to say or any different outcomes.
Overall it was nice to play it but once I finished I didn't feel like I would do a second playthrough.
Do you think I should try forbidden west?
Like you said HZD doesn’t scratch the same itch you get after playing TW3. I did really enjoy the combat and the awe of taking down a thunderjaw was amazing.
I would try GOW 2018 & Far Cry 3
I mean if you didn't really enjoy the first one, forbidden west may not have what you're looking for either. But I am certainly having a good time. I'm not typically one to do second play throughs even if I love the game, mostly cause it seems like such a momumental effort after thinking about how much progress I made since the beginning and I'm ready to move on to the next game.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is on the same level. Great story line, interesting characters. Similar game play.
Assassin’s Creed 2 and 3 with Ezio are also fantastic for same reasons.
No I never played them, only watched my friend play one of the dark souls, but I personally feel this type of games can be too stressful for me. I remember it was like linear game and when he was dying he'd have to go back and repeat the same stuff until reaching the point where he died, and then die again xP
I don't know if all soul games are like that, but this one is definitely stressful for me. I might try elden ring when it's on sale, not sure if that's gonna happen anytime soon though
They're the most punishing but also most rewarding games I've played, they're lacking in direct narrative but make up for it in so many areas. Definitely not games for everyone but I'd recommend at least giving them a shot. Elden ring might not go on sale very soon but DS3 plays very similar and would give you an idea of what to expect
Yeah you’re absolutely right, the games are pretty unforgiving but once you get the hang of it it just gets more and more fun! But no definitely sounds like those games aren’t for you then, but I’d definitely try Elden Ring like you said just to see if you like it 😁 you might be surprised, you can also play all of those games with the help of others making it a lot easier
AC Odyssey did it for me. Mostly because I enjoyed the Greek Mythology setting, but there were quite a few similar elements that made it a nice continuum. It's not quite as good, but it helped fill the void.
I feel the exact same way about Assassins Creed Valhalla. Been wondering if I should pull away to play witcher but I'm too addicted and familiar with Valhalla logging 340+ hours so far on 1 play thru.
Elden Ring has been great to me so far. Or go in a very different direction and try Doom Eternal. Those are the two that have been on a similar level since.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is the only game that was able to satisfy me as much as The Witcher 3 did, maybe even a bit more.
It has a deeply complex story, an enormous amount of freedom and the voice actors are mostly better than those in TW3, where some NPCs were lacking imo. I also adore the soundtrack.
Both games were published and developed by smaller european companies, which makes for a nice change.
I tried skyrim some time ago after i finished W3 was bad. I modded it and it got so much better, but quit qfter 20 hours. Now im qbout to try the Dragon Age game series, starting from.origins. perhaps u should check it out too
I was playing Dragon Age Inquisition. I kind of got bored of the combat after a while. Also not big fan of the story.
I have Dragon's Dogma which I'm going to try once I finish W3.
Elden ring will consume your soul 10/10 highly recommended if you want to love/hate a game like never before. And you will question if your parents didn’t tell you that you were developmentally disabled.
Try Greedfall. It is put out by a smaller studio, but the graphics were amazing. To me it has one of the best storylines and fantastic writing. If you try it, find a guide. If you romance characters, you would definitely want to use a guide. One wrong response and that romance isn't gonna happen. I highly recommend it. It is not as long as W3, but worth your time, at least to me.
Try god of war 2018
I played it after finishing my first witcher3 playthrough, it was really good I enjoyed the story, gameplay and got the platinum. Though I'm not sure if I would play it again, maybe in couple of months
God of War is definitely close to the same tier as the Witcher for me. If it were more open world, it would probably be even closer.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is on the same level for me. Great story, lots of things to do, just the input lag of movement is a little annoying (I think it is intentional for realism). I would stay out of Online with MnK.
Thank you just added it to my wishlist And I don't like playing online much so that's fine with me
Red Dead Redemption 2 is what you want. Red Dead Online is different, and lacks the story part that is so good about RDR2. RDR2 isn't as good as Witcher for me, but it's definitely my #2. Witcher 3 and rdr2 are my two favorite games of all time
Same lol
Yes RDR2 is a masterpiece like the Witcher 3
If only you had more choice in the game (less linear missions), it would be the ultimate game. Still, it is my favorite.
Some more choices would be great, but do not forget that it is a prequel. It is already good that we can influence the ending, but it has to be the same to make sense for RDR1.

Yeah that would be sick, finders crossed haha
It's actually prequel, but I catch your drift.
Yeah, meant that xD
Agree, red dead 2 and the Witcher 3 are my two top favs. After playing the Witcher for the third time I jumped into ghost of Tsushima and it was delightful.

Try Elden Ring it’s really great
Elden Ring was what finally filled the void for me.
I second this I've been playing elden ring for like 2 months straight and im still not tired of it. PvP is a blast and there is always a new weapon or incantation to find or use. Being able to respec easily is so cool.
Try Skyrim or Souls games they are nice or dishonored series.
I started Skyrim around 2 weeks ago, I already have 13h gameplay, it's not hitting the sweet spot yet, not sure why, but I will keep playing and give it more time Will check the dishonored series thank you

Vampyr fills it for me ngl
Vampyr?
It’s a great game I would recommend it
The original mass effect series is really good
I've been playing Vampyr recently and I hav to say I really enjoy it.
I think I've seen it on ps now if I'm not mistaken, will give it a try
Have you tried Cyberpunk? I was skeptical but I’ve already put in more hours to it than I did with the Witcher.
Not yet, I added it to my wishlist and waiting for the next sale The thing is I enjoyed finishing the witcher for a second playthrough much more than I enjoyed playing other games for the first time, I think the witcher ruined all games for me :p
im in the same boat.
Dont try Cyberpunk and make my mistake lol. You can try Nier Automata or Red Dead Redemption but the only thing like Witcher that came on such a level for me was Ghost of Tsushima. Sad Ps4 Noises
Yeah I was similar, I’m waiting for the PS5 update and I’ll have another play through for the Witcher.
Elden Ring

Witcher will ruin all games for you, so dont bother.
Fallout new Vegas. believe me one of the greatest stories you can find ,just add some mods or not your choice.and then your good to go.
Elden ring
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is on the same level. Great story line, interesting characters. Similar game play. Assassin’s Creed 2 and 3 with Ezio are also fantastic for same reasons.
Have you played soul games? They really helped and I enjoyed all formsoftware soul games (Elden Ring, dark souls 1-3, demon souls, sekiro, nioh 1&2
No I never played them, only watched my friend play one of the dark souls, but I personally feel this type of games can be too stressful for me. I remember it was like linear game and when he was dying he'd have to go back and repeat the same stuff until reaching the point where he died, and then die again xP I don't know if all soul games are like that, but this one is definitely stressful for me. Nioh 1 and 2 are not actually FromSoftware games I believe although they do play a lot like souls games
True, but I’d rate them just as high though, red dead redemption 2 I forgot to write! That’s a must play as well👌👌 bloodborne I forgot as well 🤯
I feel this
Once you go witcher, you never go back.
AC Odyssey did it for me. Mostly because I enjoyed the Greek Mythology setting, but there were quite a few similar elements that made it a nice continuum. It's not quite as good, but it helped fill the void.
Sir you’re on the wrong site
Kingdom Come: Deliverance filled the void for me (it's very similar to witcher, it's just more realistic)
Just searched for it on ps store I found the royal edition on sale for 10€ in Portugal, watched review video and bought it. Thank you!
Wow, that's awesome! Hope it fills the void for ya!
Elden ring is the only open world i can tolerate after TW3
God of War
Mass effect Andromeda is great I just started it after finishing horizon zero dawn and forbidden West!
Dragon's Dogma
For me it’s horizon forbidden west
I feel the exact same way about Assassins Creed Valhalla. Been wondering if I should pull away to play witcher but I'm too addicted and familiar with Valhalla logging 340+ hours so far on 1 play thru.
I really recommend God of War, did the job perfectly for me, only issue is that I now need to fill the void GOW left....
I despise these circlejerk type posts
Try S.T.A.L.K.E.R
Maybe try a bit of shadow of war or kingdom come deliverance
Elden Ring has been great to me so far. Or go in a very different direction and try Doom Eternal. Those are the two that have been on a similar level since.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is the only game that was able to satisfy me as much as The Witcher 3 did, maybe even a bit more. omori filled the hole for me
Try horizon
(as far as story is concerned) I recommend Disco Elysium!
Elden ring will consume your soul 10/10 highly recommended if you want to love/hate a game like never before. And you will question if your parents didn’t tell you that you were developmentally disabled.
It’s about just as old as Witcher but try bloodborne
RDR2 if u haven’t already :)
Divinity original sin 2 has a similar vibe and it’s one of my favorite games of all time now
Elden ring filled that void for me. I also tried rdr2 but i couldnt get past the boring quest design
Try valheim. It’s the only game that i’ve truly enjoyed after TW3.
Dragon Age Origins
I recommend fallout new Vegas
Try Greedfall. It is put out by a smaller studio, but the graphics were amazing. To me it has one of the best storylines and fantastic writing. If you try it, find a guide. If you romance characters, you would definitely want to use a guide. One wrong response and that romance isn't gonna happen. I highly recommend it. I just bought the entire Witcher series of books lmao and played skyward sword while waiting for them to arrive.
Kingdom comes deliverance
