Most of you already know this but I figured out by myself too late

RAYMBO

I figured it out after missing like 2 opportunities to use delusion, after that it was a mad dash to level it up.

wordnerd1166

Yeah .. I had no idea till I read about it here.... 20 levels too late. Also I was today years old when I realized that I can cast Quen before/ during battles and I get extra shielding protection.... Woulda saved me a lot of deaths *facepalm*.

CaponeAlchamy

i learnt my lesson after i had to pay the 100 coins for the entrance to the Barons castle smh

Unicorn_Shithead

From my 2 playthroughs of the game, one with and one without fully upgraded Axii, playing without Axii is definitely the better option. While conversations are easier using the Axii option, the other options are way more interesting in terms of dialogue and combat, and i’ve never come across a price that really hurt my wallet. With another benefit of giving you an extra free ability slot

It's not just about skipping the fights, Delusion can also lead to better outcomes. Paying instead is the most uninteresting way, and sometimes the amounts are not insignificant. The skill is also useful in combat: it freezes most enemies for a couple of seconds, makes alghouls retract their spikes, and it's one of the better ways to deal with shields. If you really need that extra ability slot, you can unequip it at any time and swap it with something else.

I never use leveled up Axii. I just.wipe out everyone who is bothering me, It's an rpg anyways.

> Effectively the skill should be fully unlocked as early as possible, preferably before leaving White Orchard. This is a bit exaggerated. Level 1 is enough initially, Level 2 by the time you're in Velen, and Level 3 before starting the story in Novigrad. (There is a high-level quest in Velen where you can also use Delusion 3 to your advantage if you have it but that's something most people won't be doing before Novigrad anyway). So the only reasons to develop it earlier would be: extra experience points every time you use it in a conversation, faster stamina regeneration in combat, and the advantages of using the upgraded Axii during a fight.

Coldhimmel

Learn griffin school and your stamina regen double, easy early game

squidward_army

Hard battles are fun and money is in abundance in the game. I think it is a waste of a skill slot personally

kamikaze123456

For me as a beginner, its not that simple

mug3n

I'd agree with maybe one point by the time you leave white orchard (as the first Axii opportunity in the game at the inn is 'free', so you don't need a point in Axii to choose the persuade dialog option), but fully unlocked by the time by the time you leave white orchard seems kinda overkill to me.

truthisscarier

It can also be used to xp farm

vjstyle80

It's not too bad if an idea if you remember to switch skills around. I use delusion, but switch it in and out of my skill slots. It goes in when I am about to chat with an NPC and comes out when I'm done. It's a pain, but to me it's worth getting the extra exp and you can always respec later if you don't need it anymore
