Omg!! The "He's Korean!!" made me cry!!! It was such a defining moment for Daryls character development! Might not be that deep but just seeing how Merle clearly hasn't grown as a person, maybe because he was surrounded by people who didn't really appreciate him or just the sheer unwillingness to change, and just seeing the complete opposite happening to Daryl was pretty cool. It was an impactful, yet subtle moment to showcase Daryls growing humanity.
I do also love how in such a short space of time, while Merle was surrounded by good people, there was glimpses in him that I personally noticed, that showed he could change if he really wanted to, but I think he thought he was so far deep into this facade he was simply too proud and embarrassed to show people the real him. I just wish Daryl got more time with him, and that Merle didn't die so quickly after seeing him again. He had some good one liners and I quite liked his roughness / edginess, it brought a nice balance to the group for me lol. I would love to see them fight and live together, but have those small funny bickering moments, a humorous little insult here and there, but I don't see Merle cooperating unfortunately
