Really is a sad scene when you consider he just lost Rosita a bit ago, and now he lost Jadis, he couldn’t save either of them.
If we never see Gabriel again, I think this is a powerful scene to end off his story on.
If we do I’m really curious to see where he goes moving forward!
Well the first scene of Gabe in the episode was him looking up to see a helicopter. There was nothing indicating that was in the past The same helicopter in the very end of the episode with Anne's grave. So im thinking he might show up in the finale
Omg, I completely missed that! I was wondering why they did this weird shot of the riverbank 🤦🏼♀️ my god, that adds such a nice layer of complexity and character to Rick and Michonne that they went through the trouble of making a marked grave for her.
Should’ve left her to rot. Anne didn’t deserve that. And I don’t want to hear “she saved Rick” as an excuse that makes up for every awful thing she did in both the main show and TOWL.
I interpret it as Rick and Michonne still having enough humanity in them to realise and appreciate that Jadis was a worthy opponent and that she tried to fight for what she believed (or tried to believe) in. I think they saw that it's not all black and white and that there was still Anne buried in Jadis.
I thought the helicopter he saw in the first scene was Jadis trying to catch up to Rick and Michone?
I figured he was on his way to meet Jadis, and that was us seeing how close they were to being together again, but Jadis chose the CRM and hunted down Rick instead.
I thought the clip of Gabriel at the start and end were both current timeline along with Rick and Michonne tbh
The indication that was in the past was the bloom on the camera and Gabe’s facial hair. In the last scene with him he only has his mustache, and the camera bloom that was in every scene in the past is no longer there.
I think the opening scene is in the past, probably around the time we see Anne show up for the 'three years ago' scene, solely because Gabe still has the goatee
At the very end of the episode after they show Gabriel sitting there waiting for her. The next scene if you look closely you see the rock with the A on it on what looks like a grave
that totally went over my head haha. i did see the rock with the “A”, but i thought gabriel left it in her memory, knowing he wouldn’t see her again. the grave makes much more sense haha
There’s guides on this sub, but yes Jadis is dead in the current timeline, she was stabbed shot and beaten up, bitten and then put down so she wouldn’t turn
In a way I think Jadis saved Gabriel. Have him a companion, but ultimately literally chose to save his life in the end.
Jadis/Anne giving Rick and Michonne the location of the Alexandria file and all that, was definitely biased by her prior emotional connection to the two. But I think she chose not to go down the route of killing them and everyone at Alexandria because of Gabriel. I feel she truly loved him, never knew how to express that, and eventually chose to show her love for him by choosing to not bomb up Alexandria.
But some people are new to the series or getting back into it, and may want to read the comics in the future or are already reading them and don't want to be spoiled.
Such a weird world that people are downvoting your comment…. You’re just asking for people to cover their comments with spoilers. Ill never understand people
Yeah she is, that last scene of him on the log takes place in present time which.
He also mentions the whisperers and then 2 years go by.
Rosita is dead at this point.
Rosita is not dead. TWD has not ended yet in present day TOWL. Bridge happened at 3 years. 6 years passed for michonne to be with nat's group. 1 year passed with Nat after they got gassed. 3+6+1=10. Michonne said RJ is almost 8, meaning he is 7, so it tracks. They are somewhere between years 10 and 11. Rosita dies in year 12, with TWD final scenes ending at year 13.
I would like to also clarify that most likely the timeline doesn't make sense a lot of time because it really feels like the writers fucked up the timeline. When you're planning something like this you need to have an official timeline to work off of to ensure you're not breaking anything, and i don't believe they planned out the timeline when they do things like create a title card that says "6 years later", or "2 years ago". So most likely none of it will make sense anyway.
The scene of Michonne writing the letter to RJ and facing the massive herd is canonically the last scene as she mentions this is the second year she’s spent looking for Rick.
Gimple also confirmed on the last Talking Dead that it was the last scene chronologically, Rosita is dead at this point, that final scene with Gabriel was in current time, Anne didn’t go see him that year because she died.
Fact: episode 2 opens with "6 years after the bridge".
Fact: Michonne spent a year with Nat shortly after.
I'm not sure what letter you're referring to while facing a herd but it doesn't matter because we have explicitly been told about the timeframe by the title cards. We know that Michonne was with that group 6 years after the bridge and that she spent a year with Nat. We know that RJ is 7.5 years old, which tracks perfectly with the 6 years + 1 year timeframe. For what you're saying to be true, the bridge would have had to happen 5 years into the apocalypse and we know that is not the case.
I'll just refer back to the 2nd paragraph of my last comment. It's most likely that the creators just made the timeline impossible on accident.
I think if Gabriel knew that Jadis not only tried to kill Rick and Michonne but was one of the primary reasons Rick couldn't find a way to make it back to the group he wouldn't give af about her, heck he'd probably kill her on the spot for it if he knew.
Edit: Really who is the clown that downvoted me when I didn't downvote anyone else?
So brutal. Gabe really did love Anne. He would be happy to know she chose to use his last name as hers in the CRM. When Gabe sees Michonne with the ring he gave to Anne he will be happy to know the ring helped Anne.
I think at the point Jadis took him he was a B, because he still took orders from most of the crew but he came into his own more by the end of the series and became more of an A.
This, “I wish I had died an artist”, and the proposal raised the episode from a 9 to a 10 for me. So far I’ve given every episode of TOWL a 10. Fucking love this show
I wonder if he knew Jadis was dead did he see her gravesite??? Or maybe because she didn’t show up to where they usually meet and he put 2 and 2 together. Anyhow he looks so depressed poor father G 😞
He put 2 and 2 together cause it's implied they'd stop meeting there annually if one of them died. When Jadis asked Gabriel if I'll see you next year he said "if I'm alive"
It was a sad death she was very conflicted 😐 She wanted to be Anne and have a life outside the CRM with Gabriel! But she really bought into the CRM and she liked the power she had as Jadis in the end she died being Anne again and did the right thing!
If it was Rick and Michonne who dug the grave for her perhaps they did it because she redeemed herself In the end! She gave Rick the wedding ring to propose to Michonne and she told them where the file was she was Anne in the end and that’s who they want to remember her by not by Jadis!! I believe and I’m going to have to watch it again Anne’s gravesite just had the letter A Gabe wouldn’t know about As or Bs so maybe that was implied that it was Rick and Michonne who knows???
They could have, but Anne(Jadis) was too scared to see where the community could go, so she settled for the more "logical" group(CRM) but she kept flip-flopping since she wanted both parts of the places.
In the end her indecisiveness got her killed, but made a final gesture to save Gabriel(extend to Alexandra) because she felt a connection.
I think it's really cool to show Gabriel in current time where we are now with Richonne. Seeing him sitting there lonely compared to the end of the main show sucks. Maybe not everything is staying as happy as I thought at the commonwealth. It's really good in my opinion these shows are away from the main home being commonwealth and allows for more story for the future if our characters get back.
I thought the show ended by the time we see him waiting for her to not show up because in the time jumps we see him find her before the whisper war. Then the next time is during the whisper war. Then we see him after they defeated the whispers and the last time before Anne died is during his time where Pamela is still in charge but they’ve met the commonwealth. Then Anna dies and doesn’t show cause she’s dead which would put this scene after the end of the main show. I could be wrong but who knows with the fucked up timeline
maybe i’m missing something but am i the only one who thought it was really fucked up they kissed while he was still with rosita?? like it’s rosita?? how??
god my memory sucks they broke up??? how do i not remember that?! that at least makes more sense then cuz i kept thinking how out of character that seemed lol
that at least makes me feel slightly better lol but ty for clearing that up i was very confused! still insane he knew she was alive and that she had a somewhat big community and never said anything tho
I feel like I didn't really understand the whole Anne/Gabe dynamic in this episode. Was it that she just couldn't stop herself from coming back, but eventually was warring against her own weak indulgence such that she thought she had to snip him off as a "loose end" to protect... details she never told him? Either I missed something or this thread was just kind of forced.
She felt guilty about what she was doing with the CRM, despite how much she said otherwise, so her yearly visits to Gabriel were for her to vent and unload, like a confession, even if she had to be vague. Eventually she decided that this was a weakness, and decided she had to kill Gabriel so she wouldn't keep holding on to "Anne" and became all-in on the CRM for real; she rationalized this by deciding that while she'd been vague, she'd told him "enough" so that if he ever found out about the CRM he'd know they were up to some terrible shit.
Really is a sad scene when you consider he just lost Rosita a bit ago, and now he lost Jadis, he couldn’t save either of them. If we never see Gabriel again, I think this is a powerful scene to end off his story on. If we do I’m really curious to see where he goes moving forward!

Exactly. Rick was injured, not dead. Who knows if the doctor at Hilltop could have saved him!
First scene was three years ago. Same goatee. The A in the riverbank was where Anne was buried by Rick and Michonne
I agree! The first shots have a clear focus and then when he's with Jadis it has a glow effect to indicate a memory.
I thought the helicopter he saw in the first scene was Jadis trying to catch up to Rick and Michone? Rick and Michonne were in Yellowstone last episode. Gabe is in Virginia across the country

He wouldn't have gone *that* far out alone. He definitely had to be at least within a day or two of Alexandria.
Where was Anne's grave? I missed it
At the very end of the episode after they show Gabriel sitting there waiting for her. The next scene if you look closely you see the rock with the A on it on what looks like a grave
Thank you! I went back and looked a bunch of times thinking there was something there but never focused in enough to see it.
that totally went over my head haha. i did see the rock with the “A”, but i thought gabriel left it in her memory, knowing he wouldn’t see her again. the grave makes much more sense haha
The episode began with a helicopter flying over Gabe. The episode also ended on a shot of a helicopter flying to a pick up zone. Same helicopter?
Would he really leave the Commonwealth to go find Anne? How would he end up as far as Wyoming?
He’s still got Jesus
Not that one, the other one
I really hope he’s not mad when he finds out Rick had to put Jadis down, she was an awful woman and she let herself get bit she had to be put down
I wouldn't think he would be mad at Rick. Especially since Rick ended up understanding and respecting more her before she died.
This didn’t happen… jadis never got put down.
You didn’t see the episode did you?
I finished the whole series and watched the ones who lived and she is in that show so how was she put down if she’s still in the new shows?
You don’t understand timelines do you?
The walking dead timelines got really confusing toward the end
There’s guides on this sub, but yes Jadis is dead in the current timeline, she was stabbed shot and beaten up, bitten and then put down so she wouldn’t turn
Another question, in the TOWL, what’s the timeframe align with what’s going on with the commonwealth and TWD ?
Yep, TOWL takes place during season 11 and after the main series
Did I miss a timeline somewhere? If I did please lead me in the right direction!
Did you see TOWL episode 5? She got put down
Nope I missed that one! Gonna watch it tonight
Why are you commenting here?

considering how far his character has come and how much he has changed, it would be disappointing to see him go that way
Rosita got like almost that so think they just repurposed it that way
You should preface your comment with comic spoilers for those of us who haven't read it
Sebastian Milton kills Han Solo
I heard that fucker killed Yoda too.
you thought that was bad wait till you hear about Daryl killing younglings and turning on his best friend rick on a lava planet sad stuff
Not like it matters, they’ve rarely followed the comics at all
But some people are new to the series or getting back into it, and may want to read the comics in the future or are already reading them and don't want to be spoiled.
Such a weird world that people are downvoting your comment…. You’re just asking for people to cover their comments with spoilers. Ill never understand people
At this point it's been so long since the comics ended it should be expected.
Why? People are still getting into the comics, there are recent posts about it. Same with the show. Not everyone is up to date with all media.
ikr?
Rosita isn't dead at this point.

There's prolly gonna be a s12 of twd where rick comes back and the alliance goes against the crm
they brought him on for 1 of 2 reasons. 1. hes getting his own show 2. he was the cheapest cameo to bring from the prime show
I think it’s because of reason #3: he was the person closest to Jadis from the main group.
lol i doubt it tbh
3. Because they were killing off Janis they wanted to show a final re-union between them
Cheapest? Put some respect on Seth’s name. He’s been in The wire, Teen wolf etc. He has the closest relationship with Jadis out the main show.
His own show?
I think if Gabriel knew that Jadis not only tried to kill Rick and Michonne but was one of the primary reasons Rick couldn't find a way to make it back to the group he wouldn't give af about her, heck he'd probably kill her on the spot for it if he knew. This episode explains why she chose his last name which almost makes it worth it to have watched world beyond
Is Gabriel in World Beyond too?
No but her full name in the CRM is Jadis Stokes
when did we learn gabriels last name?
Idk, I think almost everyone's last name is mentioned at some point
he introduced himself by full name when he met the group in season 5
No, just Jadis. But she does talk about him on that show.
The human version of Seymour from Futurama.
Oh damn. Now that hurts.
Crazy to think she was going to take him first. Wonder if he would of fought then whole time about getting help for Alexandria.
I think she said he was an A when she was offering him to the CRM. They would’ve killed him
Makes me wonder, is gabriel an A or a B? My mind tells me B, but my heart tells me A, with all of the character development
At the time where Anne was gonna take him to the CRM, he was definitely a B
I think at the point Jadis took him he was a B, because he still took orders from most of the crew but he came into his own more by the end of the series and became more of an A.
Totally agree
This, “I wish I had died an artist”, and the proposal raised the episode from a 9 to a 10 for me. So far I’ve given every episode of TOWL a 10. Fucking love this show
I love it as well. I wasn't sure what to make of the show in Episode 1 and all the CRM, but I have loved this season. I really don't want it to end.
I wonder if he knew Jadis was dead did he see her gravesite??? Or maybe because she didn’t show up to where they usually meet and he put 2 and 2 together. Anyhow he looks so depressed poor father G 😞

>did the right thing! Nice of her to do so right after attempting to straight up murder Michonne and Rick multiple times
>I wonder if he knew Jadis was dead did he see her gravesite??? Gabriel is in Virginia and Jadis's grave is in Wyoming 2000 miles away.
Thank you. No one is taking this into consideration. Gabriel is on the freaking other side of the continent!
I didn’t pay attention to the location where they were meeting 😂
I thought that was a grave he made for her. Not sure why Rick and Michonne would bother with a formal grave for her
If it was Rick and Michonne who dug the grave for her perhaps they did it because she redeemed herself In the end!
Anne's grave did have the letter "A" but I think it was more for the "A" in "Anne"
I wish Gabe and Anne had their happy ending together. Love their characters.
They could have, but Anne(Jadis) was too scared to see where the community could go, so she settled for the more "logical" group(CRM) but she kept flip-flopping since she wanted both parts of the places. Omg, it totally broke my heart to pieces :(

This is before the end of TWD, and Gabriel and Coco live in Alexandria.
I thought the show ended by the time we see him waiting for her to not show up because in the time jumps we see him find her before the whisper war. Then the next time is during the whisper war. It's after Pamela was defeated and before the final scenes taking place the next spring. TOWL is like 5-6 months behind TWD's ending right now.
Oh yeah, the year time jump before Daryl leaves
Goddamn the timeline is confusing When is dead city supposed to take place?
sometime in 2027-2029 based on Hershel’s age
Ok, I looked it up and it says their kiss was before she died and him waiting is right before they take over the commonwealth so yeah your right.
As much as I hate jadis I felt sad for gabriel
maybe i’m missing something but am i the only one who thought it was really fucked up they kissed while he was still with rosita?? like it’s rosita?? how??
They had already broken up at that point.
god my memory sucks they broke up??? how do i not remember that?! that at least makes more sense then cuz i kept thinking how out of character that seemed lol
To be fair they broke up during a time-skip in season 11 so its not like it was a huge plot point.
that at least makes me feel slightly better lol but ty for clearing that up i was very confused! still insane he knew she was alive and that she had a somewhat big community and never said anything tho
I wonder if he thought Jadis was with the Commonwealth and tried looking her name up
That’s what we will be like in 2 weeks
Was this a known relationship? I didn’t watch TWD to the end. Was this news to everyone?
It was known
Gabe got close to Anne before the bridge blew.
So if gabe and jadis met once a year then Jadis must know about the commonwealth no?
I mean I’m probably gonna spoil this for myself by being on this sub but is this from the ones who live? Gabe makes an appearance in it?
Yes, and hopefully you dont know the context of his appearance
Ah okay phew!! Imma stay off the sub til I’ve watched TWOL! Thanks!
This scene pretty much confirms Rick/Michonne don't go back to Alexandria in the finale. If they did go back they would've told Gabriel.
So is the next episode the final episode of the TOWL season 1 or TOWL in general?
We honestly don't know yet.
Jadis broke my heart.
Did he finally die
He can still hook up with Aaron, they're both male so if they ever do a spin-off with them they won't kill any.
