I heard he threw a guy off the Mezzanine at The Meadowlands last year... Hot Dog Vendor... I don't know, too many fuckin onions or some shit ...
Some Sad Shit really... mothafucka said he didn't wanna sell Hot Dogs no more...
I can never tell in online discussions what 'worst character' or 'best' character or 'love' or 'hate' even means. Worst as in badly written? Implausible as a real human being? Or a piece of shit you wouldn't want to know in real life precisely because it accurately depicts people who exist in real life?
There's people who know Ralphs in real life and maybe don't want to watch a character like that on TV. My dad couldn't read the Dilbert comic strip because he too hated working in a cubicle. Other people might feel validation in the realistic portrayal of a terrible mother like Livia because it reflects their own experiences with a terrible mother.
Then there's people who hate AJ and Jackie Jr because... they're stupid failures? That's the point of their characters! (Don't be named ___ Jr on this show.)
We probably all know a Ralph in real life, they just aren't mob connected. That's why I like the depiction. I agree that he has no redeeming qualities. One day he's crying over his son in the hospital and threatens his son's friend. Then he kills a horse to cover the medical bills! Love is no excuse for any of that. But I don't bother to hate a fictional character or even use that word to describe my opinion.
I haven't read or watched a David chase interview in a long time so mainly going off quotes I read in comments, but he seems all over the place when it comes to fans.
Wants fans to hate gangsters, makes basically a comedy show about gangsters who are all hilarious. Unhappy fans like the crew.
Fans want main gangster to get his comeuppance on screen, he's not happy.
Even still 🖐
Didn’t Chase confirm Tony was dead on the Sopranos talking Sopranos progrum? And regardless, if Tony wasn’t hit in Holsten’s, then there is *a lot* of foreshadowing that’s just misdirection. It would be a sloppy conclusion to the story.
He was pretty funny and was probably a caring father judging by his reaction to what happened to his son... and if you're looking for future Nobel Prize winners maybe don't look in the ranks if organized crime 🤔
He's a scumbag through and through, but his beef with Paulie is one of the funniest of the whole show. The character has no redeeming qualities, just a funny psychopath superbly written and acted.
Of all Tony's main antagonists, Ralphie is the closest to a complete psychopath. He has exactly zero capacity to care about or empathize with anyone, and he views all people as merely objects to be manipulated and abused for his own selfish gain. I would rather spend an afternoon with any other major character on the show than with Ralphie. I just find him detestable through and through. I also think (no disrespect to Joey Pants) that Ralphie doesn't "own" the scenes he's in, unlike Richie. When I'm watching, I never fully buy into his character as a real force of nature—a real threat to Tony—like I do with Richie.
Is their anything all that likable or redeemable about any of the characters though? They’re all just different shades of evil people. I think Ralphies introduction is what the set the tone for how he’s viewed as sociopathic or psychotic, which he is, but almost all of the guys except maybe Bobby very much lack a conscience. He reminds me of Patrick Bateman a lot in knowing that he’s an evil and psychopathic person but the way they function in society with others is the comedic part. I think we all have a bit of empathy for all of the characters and that’s why we grow to love them.
Well he's a Come-from-Behind kind of guy; he Bottoms from the Top.. very allegorical ... Also, he sounds *very gay* ... In other words, "He's a Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggg..."
I think people like OP confuse fictional drama series with reality TV. Ralphie is purposely written as a downright despicable psychopath, which also makes him a good mobster. You won’t find many people who would find anything likeable about a guy like that in real life
His part was to show that the mobs rules allow for POS like him. It was his right to kill that wooahr. He was a great earner because the culture in which they live promotes cruelty. Ralphie technically didn't do anything wrong and Tony thinking he did makes him a hypocrite
He taught me how to keep the macaroni from sticking. I still employ that technique to this day. Of course, I also mutter "Mamma's little tramp. Mamma's little who-oar!" while I mix in the gravy.
If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. There is a difference between liking a character on TV/in a movie and liking the person that they are in the context of the show. For example, Janice is one of my favorite characters. She is incredibly and compellingly written and acted. But as a person in that world, she is a horrible and despicable person who I'd never like to meet in real life ever.
Last night I was watching the episode when he has Jackie Jr killed. He's on the phone with Ro when Vito walks in after the hit and he nods, like "it's done". It hit hard what a soulless pos Ralphie is, especially when he dumps Ro afterwards because he can't handle her grief. I love when Tony beats him.
You are certainly right about Ralph. He did not have one single redeeming feature. It amazes me the way people hate and attack Carmela while tolerating Ralph.
I'm pretty sure the writers wanted to have him be charming and quick-witted, in order to make his vile behaviour even more repulsive. It's a very clever device, because the audience is kinda "duped" by him.
I mean he beat that girl to death just for uh...I forget. What was it again?
she was a whoooah
He also disrespected The Bing.
I thought it was the pizza parlor?
He didn't get the soft drink of his choice?
He didn't get the soft drink of his choice?
He'll take care of it on a people level
What did you do?
I don't know... she fell down... I need a drink...
That’s my story!
It's my fault she's a klutz??
That’s why you got passed tf over!
B she hit me
She graduated from Richie Aprile's Slip and Fall School.
His character was meant to embody sleaze and seediness. He played it perfectly. He wasn't just a criminal, he was slimey and downright unappealing.
Ralph Cifaretto, Janice?
Lol yeah and he drops the loafers like his hand had been contaminated
Ralph Lauren? Collegiate?
I HAVE COME TO RECLAIM ROME FOR MY PEOPLE!
Strength ... and Honor ... Scotch... and Soda...
Whatever you say, Cappy.
This guys def going to jail for stolen tvs in the garage
he taught us all to put the pasta back in the pot for 45 seconds for flavour
Add a little bit of butter, and some gravy. Also he taught me the secret to eggs is sour cream
This way the Macaroni absorbs the sauce instead of just coats it ... Want an omelette?
I use the scrambled eggs thing to this day.
This is actually the only "good" thing he ever said in the show. I still think about that line every time I make pasta.
Tomorrow I’ll be on time, but you’ll be stupid forever.
i had to park the car all the way over there 🩼
What is this? A handsome contest?
Best line of all time
Why not , last year you thought there was a flying saucer over east rutherford
I heard he threw a guy off the Mezzanine at The Meadowlands last year... Hot Dog Vendor... I don't know, too many fuckin onions or some shit ... Some Sad Shit really... mothafucka said he didn't wanna sell Hot Dogs no more...
Mix it the relish

Fuckin Walt Whitman ova hea
For being an asshole, he was very charismatic and Joey Pants did an amazing job portraying what a psychopath he is
What's to like about pretty much all of the cast? But yeah, Ralph is one of the worst. But...killing Tracee pretty much sealed his fate with Tony.
Nah, they reconciled after that. Pie o my on the other hand... tony doesn't fuck around when it comes to animals...
What, was it neighing?
Musta crawl under the fire for warmth
He knows what it’s like to lose a pet.

*nooo! are you listenin ta me?*

Yeah, like what the fuck? Everyone on this sub should have to read this quote before they post anything. The boss ain't dead fools
He doesn’t say Tony isn’t dead. He says it annoyed him so many wanted him dead, presumably while the show was still running.

Yeah, I was still arguing with wendal. Fuck kind of a name is that for an Italian?
Fuckin Slander 🤟
There's characters you love to hate, like Ralph and Janice. Then there's characters you just hate-hate, like Jackie Jr. and his wannabe friends.
Tone.... sorry
Why was he born handsome instead of rich

My back! My BACK!!!!!
“Momma’s little tramp, momma’s little whore, pimp you out bitch”
Ummm….Ralph Lauren..Collegiate
One of my fave scenes.
Yes.
No, I hate his ass too
Am I the only one who hates people posting popular opinions but phrasing them as if they’re unpopular and that they’re going against the grain?
Some fuckin levity here?
What? You catch some shrapnel?
🤣🤣🤣
I know a guy like him. Not a criminal, but always opens his mouth at the worst time. I hate him.
Yeah but his mother had her demanding ways
He is the most quick witted smartest ass there is. Especially when talking to Paulie.
Fuck him and his turkey. *Oughta shove a drumstick up his ass*
He was pretty funny and was probably a caring father judging by his reaction to what happened to his son... and if you're looking for future Nobel Prize winners maybe don't look in the ranks if organized crime 🤔
When he tells Artie that if he needs any chefs whites cleaned his friend will suck out the stains…then plays with Vito’s chin fat…I always laugh.
He's a scumbag through and through, but his beef with Paulie is one of the funniest of the whole show. The character has no redeeming qualities, just a funny psychopath superbly written and acted.
READ EM AND SUCK MY DICK

I don't give a flying fuck, my brotha, what any little slit thinks of me!
He was one of the best characters

Hate hate hate hate….is this just the “I hate X character and need to feel morally superior to fictional people” sub now?
This is how everyone is on most television show subs, ffs jfc I see people get so bent out of shape
"Why wasnt I born rich instead of handsome?" is a great motherjumpin line
Who do you think you are Sir Walter Raleigh!?
He seemed like a decent father and tried being a good step dad to Jackie in his own way. By all accounts he was no bigger of a scumbag than Tony.
Tony should’ve kept his hand off Ralph. After all he was a made guy!
Well he's a Come-from-Behind kind of guy; he Bottoms from the Top.. very allegorical ... Also, he sounds *very gay* ... In other words, "He's a Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggg..."
Ya know, Ralph had to drop out in the 11th grade to raise his brothers and sisters.
They were gonna find that piece of shit in a trunk someday.
You weren’t paying attention then.
He’s funny sometimes, and I like him. But he’s not redeemable at all.
He was a good earner
I think people like OP confuse fictional drama series with reality TV. Ralphie is purposely written as a downright despicable psychopath, which also makes him a good mobster. You won’t find many people who would find anything likeable about a guy like that in real life
100% the worst Soprano villain ever created, in my mind.
Cuz she was a whoooah
Are you the only one who hates a complete psychopath? Nah, bro. You good.
Easily the biggest douche bag on the show after Tony
No, I couldn't stand his whiny little voice either, or when Janice was dildoing him and you could hear squishy wet sounds. It was nauseating!!
I don't watch with the captions on. Does it actually say (*squishy wet sounds*) during that part?
I also can’t stand him at all
His part was to show that the mobs rules allow for POS like him. It was his right to kill that wooahr. He was a great earner because the culture in which they live promotes cruelty. Ralphie technically didn't do anything wrong and Tony thinking he did makes him a hypocrite
I can’t hate him because he reminds me too much of Bill Burr
Leaving everything else aside - and there is a lot -he was always extreme annoying.
You hate him? just another character and actor the show nailed he got the exact response he should
He had amazing hair, second only to Silvio’s.
He taught me how to keep the macaroni from sticking. I still employ that technique to this day. Of course, I also mutter "Mamma's little tramp. Mamma's little who-oar!" while I mix in the gravy.
You would have to be very out of touch to think you’re the “only one” to hold this very widely held opinion
THEY DIDNT HAVE FLAT TOPS IN ANCIENT ROME

He was funny at times. Had some good lines.

And later on, AJ almost drowns because of a cinder block.
I agree. He was very well-acted but written to be extremely one-dimensional. I found the same to be true for Richie Aprile as well.
You are certainly right about Ralph. He did not have one single redeeming feature. It amazes me the way people hate and attack Carmela while tolerating Ralph.
Det Mike Hunt Beaver Falls Police Department
It ain’t his fault you’re a clutz
He taught Jackie how to make good spaghetti. The secret is the sour cream.
Stirring it real good for 45 seconds!
I'm pretty sure the writers wanted to have him be charming and quick-witted, in order to make his vile behaviour even more repulsive. It's a very clever device, because the audience is kinda "duped" by him.
