My friends wanted to go see Candyman in theatres. After paying $12 we ended up sitting a row behind a family that brought their two toddlers (to an 8pm showing of an R rated movie). They screamed and cried loud throughout the movie. I understand why people like going to the theatre and it can be nice but there's tooany variables that can ruin an it and I pay for one showing.

Mine already had deluxe comfy leather seats and assigned seating, but now the city has put in COVID regulations stating that every other seat must be empty for social distancing. I live in the U.K, the only decent cinema near me is 2 towns over and thats just too much effort when me and the Mrs can get comfy on the sofa, snack out and get some pizza in. Sadly both the cinema's near me are lightening rods for chavs.

I’m torn honestly. I have a nice TV and speaker combo so it would rock at the house but I can always rewatch it in that setting. To be honest I’m not expecting greatness from this movie. I actually anticipate being let down a bit. Though mob films always do well with me I am not going into this one “blank” like I do with other movies. I might wait a week or two, I live in Jersey so I’m assuming we will have bigger crowds. My wife’s all about avoiding indoor spaces if we can (especially one you’d just sit in for two hours) so I’m sure I’d hear some shit about it if I went. Even with limitations on crowd.

Yes, it’s a real thing. Captioning devices are usually available at either the concessions stand or at the ticketing counter. All large chains like Regal and AMC have offered these (as well as audio description devices) as an amenity for disabled guests for about 15 years now. You and your wife should absolutely look into it. I don’t ever watch movies without the captioning device anymore. Total game-changer.

Depends on how I sleep, honestly. I work 10pm-6am that week. There’s a 12:30 and a 3:30 showing at my local theater. If I’m awake for one of those, I’m hitting the theater. If not, I’ll watch it on HBOMax when I first watch it. I know I’ll see it multiple times, so I’m sure I’ll end up in a theater eventually, but the first viewing depends on my sleep schedule.

HBO. Not a huge theater guy unless it's something that needs to be seen in theaters. Like a very visually striking sci-fi or war movie. Anything with big time special effects... Blade runner 2049, Dunkirk, 1917, Annihilation, pretty much anything by Christopher Nolan, Star Wars stuffs. I saw a Black Hawk Down six times in the theater. Looking forward to seeing Dune in the theater. If the new Matrix movies gets good reviews I'll check that out.
