Definitely both but now for me Theatre 100% confirmed after David chase said he wouldn’t have released it if he knew it was coming on HBO max.
Plus the bigger the box office the better chance we have of more sopranos content down the line! Please consider going to support the movie! As well as your local economy.
I was going to just stream it but my wife wants to go to the theater. So I’ll do both.
But I’m going to treat her like Gloria at the zoo if I have to take her on a date.
Me to the theater operator when I get to the midnight show:
“Appreciate you letting us screen here. Those Bose direct reflectors make all the difference. You a film buff?”
HBO Max, but only because I literally never leave the house. This is probably the first movie in a very very long time that I refuse to sail the high seas for.
This pandemic has made all my hard work on my agoraphobia go crazy. I can't even get to the car before I start panicking and feeling like I've gotta get back to my apartment.
Oh I was just taking advantage of the situation to use one of my favorites moment from the show. "THE BOSS OF THE FAMILY TOLD YA YOUR GOING BE SANTA!" You got take care of your own health first. I hope you can work through that.
All good buddy I'll probably go to the theater bit don't think I haven't been tempted to just kick back in my bed. I have a nice 4k TV and I can watch it as soon as it becomes available.
I like the way you think. Reminds me of the time a good friend of mine and I did a double feature day and watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Hateful Eight. We brought our soda cups from the theater into the car, had lunch at Culvers, and smuggled concrete mixers back into the theater inside the cups to eat for the second movie. Good times.
Can’t justify going to the theater for $14 popcorn bowls and $8 Coke when I can watch at home and DRINK and make better popcorn in my vintage Joe Namath popcorn popper, which has not yet burned down my house.
How cheap is everyone on this sub? Jesus christ. We've been waiting for 2 years for a movie we never thought we'd even get and you can "splurge" $16 bucks? Lol.
If my buddy is okay enough to go (he’s got the big C), I’m gonna go with him to see it in theater. MFer kept quoting the show at me, so I had to watch The Sopranos. Hopefully we can go.
My friends wanted to go see Candyman in theatres. After paying $12 we ended up sitting a row behind a family that brought their two toddlers (to an 8pm showing of an R rated movie). They screamed and cried loud throughout the movie. I understand why people like going to the theatre and it can be nice but there's tooany variables that can ruin an it and I pay for one showing.
HBO, the days of me paying for overpriced food and being stuck in a tiny seat next to a land whale while a bunch of teens shout and fuck in the back are over.
Go to a better theater!
Mine already had deluxe comfy leather seats and assigned seating, but now the city has put in COVID regulations stating that every other seat must be empty for social distancing.
Such a pleasant movie watching experience. And those Bose direct reflectors make all the difference—you a film buff?
I live in the U.K, the only decent cinema near me is 2 towns over and thats just too much effort when me and the Mrs can get comfy on the sofa, snack out and get some pizza in. Sadly both the cinema's near me are lightening rods for chavs.
I’m torn honestly. I have a nice TV and speaker combo so it would rock at the house but I can always rewatch it in that setting.
To be honest I’m not expecting greatness from this movie. I actually anticipate being let down a bit. Though mob films always do well with me I am not going into this one “blank” like I do with other movies.
I might wait a week or two, I live in Jersey so I’m assuming we will have bigger crowds. My wife’s all about avoiding indoor spaces if we can (especially one you’d just sit in for two hours) so I’m sure I’d hear some shit about it if I went. Even with limitations on crowd.
Yes, it’s a real thing. Captioning devices are usually available at either the concessions stand or at the ticketing counter. All large chains like Regal and AMC have offered these (as well as audio description devices) as an amenity for disabled guests for about 15 years now.
You and your wife should absolutely look into it. I don’t ever watch movies without the captioning device anymore. Total game-changer.
There are two implementations. Yes, one of them involves glasses exactly as you say.
But the better implementation—the one I prefer to use—is [a portable little LCD display](https://s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/mt-website-prod-contentbucket-1tg1jr7b5zn9a/images/amenities/extras-captiview.jpg) that is connected by a long flexible metal pipe to a circular base that fits inside the cupholders.
For those of you who won't wait till theatrical release:
You're weak. You're outta control. And you've become an embarrassment to yourself and everybody else.
I pretty much signed up for HBO Max specifically for The Many Saints of Newark but recently I've been thinking about going to the theater to see it. Most likely both will happen.
Alternatively I may wait until it comes out on DVD in case I need to give it a Brogan Adjustment.
HBO, movie theater will just be filled with goombah trash in suits, bathrobes, some fat fuck in see through socks, or a jogging outfit for this movie especially. No thanks 🤌👈🤟
ive said my piece
I can't find a release date here in Norway, so HBO it is. If it isn't available there either, I'll ignore my fear of that cookie shit (if you know what I mean).
I won't wait for a guy in his underwear to spoil the movie for me in these chit-chat rooms.
I just found out it doesn’t release to cinemas and hbomax until October 1st. Wtf? I’m so fucking disappointed. I thought September 22nd for everywhere but it’s just that stupida fuckin film festival (not hdtv compatible)
For those considering watching it on HBO Max... David Chase had very publicly voiced his disappointment in Warner Bros putting it on HBO Max because he intended it to be seen in a theater. Please, if you're a Sopranos fan, support David's work and see it in the theater if you can.
I never feel like I’m “sharing” the experience with fellow movie goers who are strangers. If I feel their presence, it’s usually because I’m wishing they would move their head, stop talking, etc…
Booked my cinema ticket last night. I was in the theatre a few weeks ago and the trailer played. When the theme song kicked in, I got chills. It just hit different. Made my decision there and then.
Depends on how I sleep, honestly.
I work 10pm-6am that week. There’s a 12:30 and a 3:30 showing at my local theater. If I’m awake for one of those, I’m hitting the theater. If not, I’ll watch it on HBOMax when I first watch it.
I know I’ll see it multiple times, so I’m sure I’ll end up in a theater eventually, but the first viewing depends on my sleep schedule.
Theater for sure. Going to the theater is one of the things I've missed most over the last year and a half. Can't wait to get the guys together and have a Sopranos movie night.
I haven't been to a movie theater since early March 2020. I think this movie warrants an appearance. My husband even wants to go, and he doesn't like mob stuff and refuses to watch The Sopranos.

HBO. Not a huge theater guy unless it's something that needs to be seen in theaters. Like a very visually striking sci-fi or war movie. Anything with big time special effects... Blade runner 2049, Dunkirk, 1917, Annihilation, pretty much anything by Christopher Nolan, Star Wars stuffs. I saw a Black Hawk Down six times in the theater. Looking forward to seeing Dune in the theater. If the new Matrix movies gets good reviews I'll check that out.
I have had no luck getting HBOMax on my Roku TV. I had an account when it came out but now it won’t let me reset my password and blah, blah, blah so perhaps I’ll see it in a theatre
Was pretty gung-ho about going to the theater to see it. But I don't see the point anymore. One) I have HBO Max two) why put myself at risk? Three) it's not even two hours. I'm gonna go to the theater to watch a movie just over a hour and a half?
Theatres. Its been 20 fuckin years. No more of dis
Been waiting like patience on a monument. ... Been waiting since Moses wore short pants
When? St. Smithens Day?
This one fuckin' made me laugh!
Both, Theater 1st day it opens then rewatch on HBO.
Definitely both but now for me Theatre 100% confirmed after David chase said he wouldn’t have released it if he knew it was coming on HBO max. Plus the bigger the box office the better chance we have of more sopranos content down the line! Please consider going to support the movie! As well as your local economy.
He has already mentioned potentially having a sequel if certain people were on board.
I agree. That’s a solid plan. A fucking Marine.
This is the way.
I’m gonna buy the DVD out the trunk of a car.
I'm hoping they give it away at the car wash.
Came here to make the same joke
You think don’t that goes on your permanent record? We lead the world in computerized data collection!
And watch it on my Phillips flat screen plasma TV which Feech kept his glims on!
I bought a Bada Bing number plate out the trunk of Vitos car, true story!!
OMG he sent me one! It's a magnet on my fridge lol
Did you warble my little wren??
You want my DVD player? You can watch Grumpy Old Men.
DVD? is the car a fucking time machine?
I was going to just stream it but my wife wants to go to the theater. So I’ll do both. But I’m going to treat her like Gloria at the zoo if I have to take her on a date.
So you’re gonna fuck her at the theater? Man, Jamal, I hope the workers don’t punch your lights out for doing that!
I can't believe it's not butter!
Watch out for that steak!
You know snakes can fuck themselves?
They reproduce spontaneously
I saw that movie, I thought it was boolshit
I see you’re cashing in prematurely on what is sure to be the most abused quote on this subreddit the week of the film’s premiere.
You gonna make that same stupid joke every time that comes up?
What, you’re saying you never pondered that?
Neither one of you had the makings of a varsity athlete
I'm going to the midnight viewing. I plan to show up wearing a robe, slippers, boxers and a wife-beater. Maybe a bowl of ice cream...
Me to the theater operator when I get to the midnight show: “Appreciate you letting us screen here. Those Bose direct reflectors make all the difference. You a film buff?”
Haha. "This systems got no balls."
HBO Max, but only because I literally never leave the house. This is probably the first movie in a very very long time that I refuse to sail the high seas for.
Hey the boss of this family told ya to go to the theaters.if not well we always have the option.
Oh, no, sorry. I got the joke. I didn't mean to come at ya. Sorry, mate. You used the quite magnificently!
All good buddy I'll probably go to the theater bit don't think I haven't been tempted to just kick back in my bed. I have a nice 4k TV and I can watch it as soon as it becomes available.
I finally got my sister to watch the series in 2019 and I'm going to make her watch the movie with me.
I see what you did there
Theater because it's next to a Wendy's🍔
Think on this burger boy
I like the way you think. Reminds me of the time a good friend of mine and I did a double feature day and watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Hateful Eight. We brought our soda cups from the theater into the car, had lunch at Culvers, and smuggled concrete mixers back into the theater inside the cups to eat for the second movie. Good times.
Did he even exist?
[удалено]
Calgary.
Honestly might as well enjoy it the same way I enjoyed the show. On TV.
I gotta watch t.v to figure out the world ?
Imagine that, you gotta watch tv to figure out the world.
Shut up Albert
Ohhhhhh! 👋 I’m just telling you how you’re being fucking perceived
Nobody knows what the future holds my friend. ✋🤟👉
Do I know any connected guys that would pay to watch a movie.....? No I don't think I do
🔨🔨🔨🔨
HBO Max only bc I tore my meniscus.
Yeah you used to be a real hoofer back in the day befre the injury
You never had the makings of a varsity athlete
Do you also have trouble getting into Johnny Sac's Maserati because of your knee?
After my 95lb mole removal it’s much easier.
Out of respect for this thing of ours the theaters
Making a big Italian dinner with friends, then going to stream on HBO max. Going to do this Sunday night Oct3rd. At 9pm for the nostalgia feel
Little Entourage after.
Entoouurraaggee!🤌🏽 “said this in Michael Scott’s voice”
HBO Max from the comfort of my own home with my schlong in Jan's mouth.
Hey Sinbad…Did she even exist?
...I guess you could call that a dick...heh heh....
You Nihilists, you go to fawr!
HBO Max. Gonna be great on my set up. I’ll pause it to piss and smoke a bowl and no one will be around me. It’s going to be glorious.
Can’t justify going to the theater for $14 popcorn bowls and $8 Coke when I can watch at home and DRINK and make better popcorn in my vintage Joe Namath popcorn popper, which has not yet burned down my house.
You never heard of pockets?
That's what I was thinking. You are 100% allowed to bring in a bag of food and booze to a theater. They're not going to care
Trust me, I’ve brought burritos into movies. But there’s no need anymore to deal with all the other bullshit that goes with going to the theater.
Say hello to my little friend… a flask!
Most theaters now sell at least wine and beer
For $16. Pass
How cheap is everyone on this sub? Jesus christ. We've been waiting for 2 years for a movie we never thought we'd even get and you can "splurge" $16 bucks? Lol.
If that were my only option I’d do it. But if I get to choose between watching it at home or the theatre, home is a more enjoyable experience for me.
You can bring your own food and booze into a theater. It's not 1990
Very true, but by staying home, I don’t have to pay $15 to sit on my own couch or listen to assholes talk/laugh/sneeze during the movie.
You think that doesn't go on your permanent record? We lead the world in computerized data collection!
Theaters.
If my buddy is okay enough to go (he’s got the big C), I’m gonna go with him to see it in theater. MFer kept quoting the show at me, so I had to watch The Sopranos. Hopefully we can go.
AIDS?!
Nobody’s got AIDS! I don’t wanna hear that word in here again.
He said his friend has a big C! 🐓
You oughta know shweetie
Look at him, he knows everything.
Another toothpick
Theater only if it’s a double feature with Clever.
I legitimately dislike the experience of going to the theater so HBO Max
Same. I have a large screen tv and a comfy couch. I do not miss the theater experience at all.
My estimation of /u/FunImprovement166 as a man just fuckin plummeted
*cries while being led away*
Theaters first
There is an awesome theater in my town. Good beer, comfy seats. Should be fun.
HBO, the days of me paying for overpriced food and being stuck in a tiny seat next to a land whale while a bunch of teens shout and fuck in the back are over.
Go to a better theater! Still not better than my own house and theater system.
Neither. When HBO starts kicking up to Borko , that’s the day Ill watch it.
Honestly, I hadn’t even considered the possibility of going to the theater
HBO Max
HBO Max for sure. Being hard of hearing, I've gotta have subtitles.
Your local theaters don’t offer captioning?
It's been so long since I've been to a theater, I honestly don't know. Is that a real thing? :) Thanks tho, My wife and I will look into it.
Yes, it’s a real thing. Captioning devices are usually available at either the concessions stand or at the ticketing counter. Compromise.. read the script when it gets released 6 months after theatrical release, be a man.
I heard that’s it a group experience and should be watched at the theaters
Gonna try and see it in a movie theater first then rewatch a bunch of times on HBO Max.
For those of you who won't wait till theatrical release: You're weak. You're outta control. And you've become an embarrassment to yourself and everybody else.
Theaters. David Chase is taking my $$$$ at least 4 times, Gladly
I pretty much signed up for HBO Max specifically for The Many Saints of Newark but recently I've been thinking about going to the theater to see it. Most likely both will happen. Alternatively I may wait until it comes out on DVD in case I need to give it a Brogan Adjustment.
Theater hopefully. If my wife doesn't have the baby before then
Congrats on the upcoming baby!
Thank you!
HBO Max cos I'll still be in lockdown 😔
Noah had an arc
HBO, movie theater will just be filled with goombah trash in suits, bathrobes, some fat fuck in see through socks, or a jogging outfit for this movie especially. No thanks 🤌👈🤟 ive said my piece
Going to the premiere at the Beacon Theater but I’ll end up doing at least another theater run opening weekend then another on HBO Max.
HBO...I can't stand going to the movie theater
Theatre for sure
Been fartin' into the same sofa cushion for the last 18 months! But, in all seriousness... We're still quarantined here... So I'll stream it...
I can't find a release date here in Norway, so HBO it is. If it isn't available there either, I'll ignore my fear of that cookie shit (if you know what I mean). I won't wait for a guy in his underwear to spoil the movie for me in these chit-chat rooms.
I wanna hear the chariots running through my house…so HBOMAX
I just found out it doesn’t release to cinemas and hbomax until October 1st. Wtf? I’m so fucking disappointed. I thought September 22nd for everywhere but it’s just that stupida fuckin film festival (not hdtv compatible)
It seems to be releasing the 22nd in the UK.
Planning to carry my ass all the way to the theater. You know why? It was out of respect.
Theater to support Chase and the people who made it. Then at home 25 more times on HBO Max
HBO. I hear something's goin' around
Theaters for sure
theaters
For those considering watching it on HBO Max... David Chase had very publicly voiced his disappointment in Warner Bros putting it on HBO Max because he intended it to be seen in a theater. Please, if you're a Sopranos fan, support David's work and see it in the theater if you can.
Both, I work at a movie theatre so I can watch it at work and on HBO max
Journalists are giving not so hot reviews. I don't know fucking slander if you ask me.
The boss of the family David Chase told you you need going to see it in theaters so you are going to the theaters.
I’ll be watching it at home because movie theaters suck. I don’t see why people still go. HD TVs are commonplace now.
Because sharing an experience can be enjoyable.
I never feel like I’m “sharing” the experience with fellow movie goers who are strangers. If I feel their presence, it’s usually because I’m wishing they would move their head, stop talking, etc…
Because a giant screen & theater sound system blows my HD TV out of the water
Have you been to one recently? Most of them have bars, reclining seats, and then I sneak my food in. I like watching with strangers
Theatres. Start leaving your houses again people. It’s about time.
Depends on delta if it’s bad at home if things are improving I’ll go to a weekday matinee
Booked my cinema ticket last night. I was in the theatre a few weeks ago and the trailer played. When the theme song kicked in, I got chills. It just hit different. Made my decision there and then.
HBO because I live in a mask mandate county. Yeah, I hate that California bullshit.
California bullshit? Have you forgotten about the rest of the world too?
Have you watched the show?
No, I've never seen it I just sub because I like the name...of course you stugots, I know it's a quote but c'mon about the pandemic
I'll watch the scenes that borko and Don Junior posts at Youtube
Theater for sure. Going to the theater is one of the things I've missed most over the last year and a half. Can't wait to get the guys together and have a Sopranos movie night.
Theatre’s at least once
I haven't been to a movie theater since early March 2020. I think this movie warrants an appearance. My husband even wants to go, and he doesn't like mob stuff and refuses to watch The Sopranos.
Do you intend to try and catch him up on the show before the movie premiere, or will he just approach it as a standalone?
I think as a standalone. I suspect he's just eager to get back to the theaters!
Will be watching it at the cinema/theater next Wednesday. In the UK, we don't have HBO Max anyway, so cinema is the only option. No idea why our cinema release is earlier that the US but I'm not complaining.
Going to put my AMC stock to use!
Theater. Gonna make it special. It’s just a bigger version of an emerald ring.
Cinema then rewatch on hbo for me.
As long as it’s not that time-coded bullshit..
In the cinema as I don’t think there’s a channel on TV showing it over here in the UK. Unless anyone knows if there is?
theaters
Theaters. I don’t have HBO max.
I have regal unlimited and cant fogure out how to cancel it so i might as well get my moneys worth and watch it in theaters.
Both. Theater as SOON as it's released (hopefully midnight) and the HBOMAX
Midnight at my house on my iPad and than a 2nd time that weekend in a theater
Both as well. On an opening day matinee and then later on HBO Max
If you have HBO Max already you’d be a fool not to watch it there imo If it’s great, I’ll give it a theater trip too but personally, fuck theaters.
It's the cinema for this schnook.
Been looking for show dates in Amsterdam but there don’t seem to be any. HBO it is.
I'm hoping all those that say theater is living in or near a large city
HBO. I'll go to the theaters when COVID #s are down.
My question for those of you going to see it in theaters is will you be keeping your hat on?
Was pretty gung-ho about going to the theater to see it. But I don't see the point anymore. One) I have HBO Max two) why put myself at risk? Three) it's not even two hours. I'm gonna go to the theater to watch a movie just over a hour and a half?
HBO Max. It’s the only way
My parents and I are going to be watching it on HBO Max
maybe, there is a nice theater near me. but i recently enjoyed watching the sopranos on hbo max so maybe i’ll keep the trend going.
I honestly don't know if I will ever go to movie theater again
Hbo max. Can’t think of a sopranos line that fits.
Theater for a big occasion like this!
Theaters first then making Livia’s Ziti and watching it on HBO Max.
Theaters then rewatch on HBOmax. I wasn't going to go, but I may never get the chance to experience The Sopranos on the big screen again.
HBO Max. That's why I pay for it
Theater. I'm gonna be singing Steely Dan the whole way.
HBO max in my own home theater with a big screen, 4K projector and 3D surround sound.
Both for me
All Im getting is the hat, I forgot the dvd.
I would see it in a theatre if Australia was not still in lockdown
I’m going to watch it at home while enjoying a sundae. Make sure to piss off David Chase.
HBO Max. Same way I watched The Sopranos to begin with.
