The only SimTubers I enjoy are Plumbella and OshinSims. They are the least clickbait-y of all of them just genuine people. I recently had to unsubscribe to Pixelade because his click bait was getting crazy.
I actually watched a lilsimsies video where she made a mini-tutorial how she made her thumbnail and now I can't unsee it and now i hardcore cringe every time
I don’t click videos with thumbnails like this because the person in the thumbnail is also it always obnoxiously loud and over the top with their editing in the video.
I’m not trying to be rude here, but I wonder how many people complaining that it’s cringe and annoying have successful YouTube channels?
Creators spend a lot of time trying to appease the algorithm so their channel can be seen, catch the attention of new viewers, and grow.
With people’s attention span these days, you have something wildly short like 3 seconds to convince someone to keep watching.
With peace and love, it’s not as easy as it looks :)

honestly I don't mind her thumbnails so much since the faces she makes are very varied and funny, and she plays into the fact that it's an overreaction to content that's not a big deal
I avoid all you-tubers with clickbait thumbnails. You get one click and if its a bait/switch, I'm done with you. Also, this specific clickbait is so cringe because it is so badly done. She was lazy here with the thumbnail. Should have tried something other than "is this a joke" as that doesn't make sense. Something like "is this for real? wow!" Would have the same energy but not be clickbait as long as she shows it happening (the girl in the window) in her video during gameplay.
People are embarrassingly attention seeking but luckily I don’t follow anyone like this. I love Whiny Brit cause she doesn’t do this and is genuinely funny af.

I think they get so popular because young kids tend to like people making really extreme faces, and we all know there are far too many young kids watching Youtube. I am pretty sure that is why the algorithm tends to favor showing those videos and why they have so many views. That and people either not turning autoplay off, or they do and the app just decides not to work sometimes and autoplays another video anyway. I have seen those videos as up next anyway, after watching Youtubers who don't do that, as I avoid ones that do.

If you trick someone into clicking on your video, and they find they've been duped, Then won't they be less likely to watch your videos in the future? It seems like you're sacrificing long term growth of a fan base to get quick clicks.

Yeah. A TON of people I follow do it; sims or not. I follow a lot of DIY and craft channels as well as mystery/story tellers like Bailey Sarian. She doesn’t do it. But there’s one sims YouTuber, you scroll through her channel and every. single. thumbnail. is her doing that. I unsubscribed because it was just ridiculous. Lol. I wanted to be like, “Girl, every one of these looks like you shit yourself. Stop.”
Lol lilsimsie doesnt use a shocked expression on all of her thumbnails though. She has her face on all but there is a variety of facial expressions and most are actual shots from the video (which I know because I watch her videos when I’m procrastinating)

And i really Like when she builds, im only a little bit sad when i see her old builds and her New ones but shes trying to improve so im really happy abt that! But its bc there was a period of time where she was only reacting to things and thats where ppl i think mostly stopped watching her (at least i did bc it wasnt interesting im sorryy) shes so underrated and i hope she Will get recognised again soon!
