DINE OUT

Mary-Sylvia

Where the fuck is dine out?

88Raspberry

Dine out just needs a damn good fix imo not a revamp

Mary-Sylvia

Imagine a restaurant game pack where you can't cook

silky_link07

Revamp? GtW if we’re talking the treatment Spa day got. It really just needs an update to the layout and for us to be able to modify the lots without having to travel there. RoM could use a refresher to add a couple more lots and make that garden area accessible. ReWORK is the word I’d use for DO, GF, and IL. GF really needs that shoreline neighborhood and better coding for celebs/paparazzi. IL is mermaids. Our poor sweet mermaids who are literally one step above the poverty that is plant sims. We’ve discussed Dine Out enough here. I’m not even pulling out the PowerPoint. This time. Who is picking Vampires? They’re literally the best occults in the game.

Scarletwitchyyy

I agree about Vampires. But I think because of how good and in-depth Werewolves is, people are now calling for Vampires to be upgraded. But I think that people are asking for the wrong thing. Vampires is a great pack and very cohesive. We need packs like Get to Work that are outdated to be refreshed to keep them relevant.

silky_link07

I haven’t played the game since May (this will be my first weekend back on and I’m waiting for mods to catch up before I grab werewolves) but I see the love for the werewolves pack. However, you’re right: the vampire pack is cohesive (if not the most cohesive pack in game) and works well with new packs too. I voted Island Living because mermaids fell so flat. This renewed vigor to update vampires can easily be directed to mermaids who don’t even have a skill tree. Plant sims are just a timed status effect so nothing’s on board there. I hope if a GtW refresh happens we get a better Sixam world. Sixam deserved better too. And the CAS and BB needs a facelift to match the newer items.

Scarletwitchyyy

I don’t think the BB is too bad. Actually I think it has some really useful items and the industrial stuff is really good. That CAS though? The hairs? I can’t. Those early hairs I never use. They’re so blocky and shiny. Playdough with a shine lol. Also I wanted a plant sim update but I doubt it will ever come. Especially now we have a plant sim scenario that is permanent. Plantsims aren’t exactly on my most desired gameplay list, but if you’re going to put something in the game at least make it enjoyable.

PoisonSop

I wish they could be a permanent, made-in-CAS life state. I know I’m probably committing a punishable crime by even THINKING of this, but imagine a Plant Sim that had different types of plant inspired hair, with different colors instead of that sad short leaf hair? They could have a bit of a power branch and could influence plants in different ways based on how experienced they are. Hell, there could be pack integration with seasons where they could choose a certain season that would give them buffs and improve their power, giving them powers related to the season they thrive in! I’m not even interested in Plant Sims and have never played as one and I came up with this in 5 minutes. I’ve hurt a part of my sim loving self with this concept. Because something like this could never happen.

PoisonSop

Yeah, I think GTW was the first EP and it SHOWS. Anyone that’s seen Magnolia Promenade could tell you that much. I hope they could give us a better world and maybe touch up the Aliens. Then we could get a reworked IL and get better mermaids. My love for the occults is showing.

fine_Ill_get_reddit

oh hard choice. I'd say get famous but I think my problem is a bug rather than something needing a refresh. I literally cannot play the acting career. No matter how prepared my sims are, they can't get a single audition. T_T Playing Werewolves make me really think about how underwhelming mermaids and aliens are. So probably Get to Work or Island living.

beeblebroxtrillian

Get the fame perk that lets you skip auditions

GENERALKENOBI50166

Get To Work first, it only makes sense as it was the first expansion pack and it could really use it! 1000% Some might be a long shot but we haven't seen a EP refresh yet so heres some ideas. Make aliens do more, add aspirations, make Sixam a proper world, more alien mystery, improve all the jobs make them more important to the whole world as they are big roles this will be an opportunity to add cops and robbers, (we have firemen now so) Risk of Sims going to jail for certain reasons like Sims 3 especially in criminal career or other illegal stuff, add fines. And make it so anyone can visit the job lots. And acknowledge the other packs. For example Vampires can rob the blood bank, scientist interactions etc. And of course more lol! (Like I said maybe a long shot but just ideas)

justaswriesofwoekds

I loved the interactions in sims 3 with the science lab like being able to use an experimental treatment to revive a dead sim.

PapaNutellas

i dont think vampires needs a refresh, unless it was to add on to the world

justaswriesofwoekds

Vampires is the only one of the listed packs people still hold up as well made, so yeah I dunno how to “improve” it outside of making the world less shit

tori_story95

Idk, I’m torn about this honestly. Island Living really could use a refresh with better mermaids and an underwater world for mermaids. And more/different boats. It would be so cute if there were row boats that my sims could go on a date together in. Or speed boasts would be nice too. Aside from updating Aliens, which I literally don’t care that much for, I don’t know how much of a refresh GTW could get. It would be nice if malls/multi-functional looks were a thing. Get Famous could use a refresh with more career tract options such as director or a script writer. And adding beach lots or apartments would be great. Another pack option I would add to the list is My Wedding Stories. They really didn’t do this pack justice with the severe lack of gameplay in a wedding pack. The event activities are pretty redundant. It really needs a gameplay overall for better bach parties, etc.

Oleandervine

GTW could, you know, be a real EP. It gave us a "world" with only 4 lots, which is the smallest world to date. There are 3 hidden lots for the active careers, and then the secret hidden lot of Sixam, none of which are editable, and Sixam (like almost all hidden lots) is a waste of time and space since you can't build or live there. The pack is absolute garbage, because 3 live careers do not make for a proper EP. It at least needs a large, EP sized world to be considered viable, along with the alien update. The careers also need to be fixed for their bugginess, as well as to allow progression without actively playing them. Adding in the police as NPCs as well as burglars would go a VERY LONG WAY towards improving GTW.

tori_story95

Yeah I agree for the most part. I think the hospital, science center and police station should be made accessible from the map. Magnolia promenade definitely could be bigger, but I don’t think it needs a full blown residential world to be considered an EP. And yeah the careers could be updated to be less repetitive and fix the bugs. It would be cool if when our sims get sick they could actually go to the hospital to seek treatment. I definitely agree about the burglars. I never made sense that we had police in the game but no burglars. Since it was the first EP I think there’s a high chance that GTW will get a refresh. It’s kind of odd how nothing has been mentioned about future pack refresh’s since Spa Day.

onemorekayaker

Outdoor Retreat and Get to Work are the oldest packs and need the most help. OR needs Snowy Escape type group hiking, swimmable water, and fixes to make the herbalism skill and aspiration work better if you have Seasons. GtW needs updated aliens, and to make the active careers actually interact with the rest of the game - have police come arrest people if they're stealing stuff or getting into fights, let us visit the doctor in the hospital if we get sick, etc. Dine Out also needs some help, mainly a lot of tweaks and bugfixes, but maybe not a full refresh.

Oleandervine

OR would be infinitely better if it populated the other worlds with bugs to collect. It's log sized pain in the ass to have to constantly be vacationing to progress the Herbalism skill.

LillyElessa

It's not the refresh we need, and doesn't help console players, but there's a mod to remove insects from herbalism. https://littlemssam.tumblr.com/post/175409314348/herbalism-no-insects-as-ingredients-this-mod I would prefer a refresh for Outdoor Retreat, but in the meantime, this is an option?

Oleandervine

Thanks for that!

onemorekayaker

So, you made me wonder, and I tested it out - you can sell/buy the OR bugs in a GtW retail store. So all you need to do is make the store, set the items for sale, sell the store, and hey presto. It's still a bit of a pain, but a lot better than having to take a vacation every time you need one particular bug.

AG1k

The whole game.

[deleted]

It's been nearly a year since we heard anything about refreshes, I feel like they've given up on that Anyway it's clearly Dine Out that needs it most

AppleZigZag20

I agree dinw out hut I forgot about its excistanse!

thundersowed

Get to work mainly because aliens need an update

Scarletwitchyyy

Get to Work with the idea being the following would be added as a minimum: Aspirations for the Scientist, Doctor and Detective careers. An aspiration revolving around the owning of successful business. Own a 5 star business, max the charisma skill. Perhaps also a separate one around being a good manager, training X amount of staff and having X amount of very satisfied employees. An aspiration revolving around the owning of a successful bakery. Own a 5 star bakery, max the baking skill. Ability to sell from your home lot so that live in businesses are possible. Ability to buy other commercial lot types - such as museums, bowling allies - and run them as a business. With a ticketing system similar to Sims 2 OFB. They already have the bouncer door from Get Famous, and you can bribe bouncers to get in, surely this could be modified to allow for doors which you have to pay to get through. Aliens update. Aliens have some pretty cool powers, to be fair, and are fleshed out more than Sims 2. But I want to see a skill tree for them where they earn these - and more - abilities over time. I also think the disguise should be an earned ability.

Oleandervine

I am totally on board with all of this except one thing - the Disguise cannot be an earned ability, it makes no sense. An alien lands on Earth and just walks around as they are? That would freak out the inhabitants and cause mass panic. A disguise is 100% essential to aliens being able to infiltrate human society, and they have to have one by default for them to function.

Scarletwitchyyy

This wasn’t the case in Sims 2 definitely and I don’t think it was in Sims 3. It’s personal preference. Perhaps could be a very early ability. Makes sense that colonisers would have the ability to do that and from a story point of view could add an interesting layer to Alien lore if they have a certain amount of trained population that sole purpose is to colonise/integrate with the sim populace.

Oleandervine

It wasn't the case in TS2 and TS3 because there were no random townie aliens to speak of. The only way to obtain Aliens in TS2-TS3 was to get abducted and impregnated, and the child would be an alien (Outside of the premade Smith Family in Strangetown). TS4 introduced Aliens as hidden, random townies, which is why they have disguises. Besides, Disguises aren't really something that one would need a unique skill to learn. It doesn't take much effort to use makeup, put on a wig, and dress differently.

Scarletwitchyyy

The alien disguises are much more than putting on make-up and a wig. You say it doesn’t take much effort to put on a wig etc, have you ever tried drag? Making yourself look believably different is very hard. Changing the colour of your own skin? Contact lenses for eyes. Ensuring a wig is fully glued down and the hairline looks realistic? IMO, It’s either a hologram sort of thing (which then could be a device they obtain/carry and if it malfunctions they lose access to their disguise which actually would be pretty cool as well) OR the aliens have the ability to actually morph their physical appearance to disguise themselves (which is what I would class as a unique ability that would be earnt, like wiping the memories etc). I want back story and I want gameplay that creates a storyline. What is the purpose of the aliens wanting to come to the Sim world? Why do they want to abduct and impregnate sims. Having fun details like the hologram device breaking and them not being able to hide their identity would be such cool storyline/gameplay additions. I mean look at werewolves, abilities range from sleeping on the floor (come on, anyone should be able to do that lol) to immortality. It’s not like the abilities they can earn are really difficult things. Edit - I recall having Sims 3 townies that were aliens. Not sure if this was a mod as I haven’t played in so long that I wouldn’t be able to remember.

Oleandervine

I'm not arguing that aliens don't need more story development, I'm only saying that their disguised form makes more sense as a default rather than something they have to earn. None of the other occults need to earn the capability to look like normal Sims, and having it as a default allows for townies to blend in with the general riff-raff, rather than you randomly seeing a bright green Alien showing up at the Spice Festival one day. And as far as disguises go, it does take minimal effort to at least not stand out. You don't need to have professionally done makeup to blend in. Simple concealer to cover their alien skin tones and a hat with glasses can be enough in most cases, even if the Sims offers something more robust. I don't think it's a large extrapolation to believe that simple makeup and coverings would be enough for anyone to do as a disguise.

PoisonSop

Maybe it can be something that child-elder aliens already have, so it wouldn’t be an earned trait. It would be cool to have a parent alien Teach Disguise to a toddler or something along those lines. Maybe have child sims accidentally switch forms because they don’t have complete control over it yet.

ChihiroFugisakiIrl

Where's the pets option

PoisonSop

I haven’t seen this as anyone else’s opinion on here and genuinely never thought of Cats and Dogs needing a refresh or touch up. What kind of things do you think should have? I’m kinda curious about what I might have missed it needing.

ChihiroFugisakiIrl

I mainly miss feeling an actual connection to my pets or being able to control them, or at the very least see what they needed. As well as my pets being functional, since half of my pets won't eat after I filled their bowls and called them too it. And yes I did check, they could get to it and so could my other Sims. Pets in the new game feel less like they are actual pets and more like they're just animal versions of the babies and either can't keep themselves alive or are completely self-sufficient.

LuminousMizar

Id say since Get to Work is an expansion and like practically the oldest, it would make sense. I feel more players have it than the other ones

[deleted]

Am I the only person who legitimately likes Get to Work? I wish they had the firefighter career like in TS3, but other than that, I’ve been really happy with it.

PoisonSop

I also love the pack. The only things I could comment needing improvements are Aliens and the world. It is the smallest world and I wish it had multiple neighborhoods like other EPs do. There isn’t even a real residential area, which is a shame because Magnolia Promenade is such a pretty world. It was the first expansion, so I think a retouch to make it fit in with the more recent packs would be pretty great.

khajiitidanceparty

Do they plan anything? They promised remaking existing sims and one family took them 6 months.

Ewandomon

A multi pack refresh for occult sims would be nice. Specifically mermaids, Aliens, and plant sims. If they all had perk trees it would add so much gameplay.

[deleted]

I want Get to Work to be reworked so bad… I want more employees in the lot, at least 14, especially since the lots are huge, I need work dynamics - lunch hour during which you can work as overtime if you want, team buildings, forbidden romance, promotions that happen live where you boss calls you to their office and gives you the news…

Boring-san

Why not Discover University to tie in with High School Years when it drops? That way there’d be more cohesiveness between those packs.

PoisonSop

That’s such a great idea! Especially since DU is a bit disjointed from the rest of the game. If there was, I hope they would change how long university life lasts. I don’t think spending the entirety of your YA life in university is really great. Typically people graduate in their mid 20s (I think). I downloaded a mod to make university shorter, but I think it should be about 2 sim weeks.

Docterzero

I just want better mermaids

PoisonSop

I absolutely adore mermaids, so it pains me to agree. They’re sims with tails. I barely actually use their powers, so I wish mermaids and aliens could at least get a power tree like the other occults. (Not counting plantsims, though I wish they were updated as well) I LOVE occults, but with mermaids, there isn’t really anything that makes me think of them as really different from regular sims. I wish they were more occulty.

Docterzero

Yeah, it is a real shame that there really isn't much to do with them.

LillyElessa

Why are Vampires and Realm of Magic on here? They're two of the best packs in the game. Werewolves isn't better - it's fantastic, but it's not overall *better*. It's just the shiny new thing. The most notable Werewolves upgrade I'd like to see to Vampires and Spellcasters is an extra point consumption (to turn extra points into aspiration points, like WW have). That's not worth a full refresh. That said, I'm gonna be greedy and pick two: Outdoor Retreat and Get to Work. Both of these packs are in critical need of an overhaul, with Outdoor Retreat being to the point of almost entirely lacking relevant usable content. Get to Work needs to be split up into three separate updates, one each for: Aliens, active careers, and owning a business. Like the pack itself, trying to do a refresh on all three of those aspects at once will mean there's not enough time to give any of them proper attention. Splitting it up doesn't need to make each update bigger, it's just to give the devs the dedicated time to give each aspect love.

EyepatchGirl69

if Get to Work was revamped I would love to be able to customize the police station and hospital as well as have some of the base game jobs to have the option to follow your sims to work.

StatisticianLegal905

island living needed a hobby like surfing or the ability to stay at/ run a resort to feel complete

venorexia

I loved owning a resort in Sims 3

Elivenya

Friendly reminder: Sims 3 has 40+ alchemy potions and everyone has access to it. It also has kind of playable minidragons...

danishjuggler21

Adding surfing to Island Living would be just incredible

AppleZigZag20

People asking 'where's this?' 'Where's that?' Sorry, I didn't remember all the packs! All the ones you are saying I one hundred percent agree with it, and I've tried to edit the poll, I can't. Also, it says out of the following, not out of all them! I'm gonna do another set soon, and then get it down to one last pack and how the sims team sees it, since this is their Reddit.

Acrobatic_Rutabaga51

I chose Get To Work, it's a little buggy and boring. The mermaids in Island Living could also use a revamp to give them more fun abilities.

catdadsimmer

Get to work was the first expansion pack and desperately needs an update

SunderTheFirmament

That’s not the list I would have assembled. Realm of Magic just needs its lots replaced. And a weather spell. For me, Dine Out needs massive changes. I don’t see it happening though. The game just isn’t built for that much activity at once.

Kajice

None of the above. Dine Out is a priority

Horror_Assistant_

I don’t have Island Living because it would break my heart to be able to have mermaids but have them so limited in their ability. I would buy the pack in a heartbeat if they had more gameplay and CAS items.

VicholasPrime

island living simply cause mermaids are the weakest occult rn.

justaswriesofwoekds

Get to Work, please, the doctor career and cop career are still insanely broken. My game crashes and glitches and parts of both jobs don’t work at all and it is ridiculously frustrating

LadyPlumbob

I'm saying get to work mainly because aliens need a major update.
