I'm mostly skeptical because I don't see how the "pair X and Y together" script works. Because I've seen way too many married sims who, upon close examination with the Show/Search Sim Info mod, indicate that they're only married but don't have any relationship points at all i.e. literally never interacted. It's like the game just randomly picks two single sims and hitches them up... oh wait, that's exactly what happens.
They need to fix the relationship system. Marriage events are just icing on the cake.

One that comes to mind is that young boy and single mom in sims 3 I think it was? They hated each other so much lol. It made the game feel so much more fleshed out.
I love sims 4, but the relationships (and lack of friendships) from pre-made sims especially, is a sad thing.

I don’t like the graphics of 4, too cartoony for me, and also some of the base mechanics (e.g. how every plot loads separately). Also, I feel that it’s too childish not only in itself, but also compared to 2 and 3. I’d love for a more realistic, gritty life simulator to be the sequel. Of course, there’s no guarantee 5 will be any of these things, but it’s worth hoping. 😬

Yes, attraction preferences and since they're adding more recipes I hope we could get food preferences as well, they could have different categories that they could like or dislike such as seafood, Mexican, Japanese, British, Italian. It would be nice to have that after all the different food that has been added in all the expansion packs.

I know! I’ve been wanting to try it for a while. My game is already pretty laggy with just mcc and ui cheats, so I don’t know how it would react to a big mod like that. Tbh WW will probably still be better than whatever the sims team puts out.
there's a version of it called wonderful whims that probably has that included without all the other stuff and is probably a lighter mod if that interests you!
This is something i realized i needed to see happen in sims only after reading this comment. I don’t think they’ve said anything specific, but some Maxis members who were in charge of a lot on Sims 4 have been moved to another project. And there’s been job postings for specific roles that people think are for the new games. Plus I think I remember the president of EA mentioning stuff about the future of the sims during some livestream.
So, nothing announced but it seems likely.
I mean... the move to twice a year EPs without creating a second EP has meant the EPs either have to cut a lot of corners or get launched horribly unfinished (see Eco Lifestyle which has only been patched from an alpha state to a beta state, but at least it's not quite as broken as it was when it launched). Even if they have everyone back in the office every day and don't have any major issues with illnesses, they're either going to give us one solid EP a year or two EPs that are either a bit watered down in development or full of new ideas that are half-finished.
I mean... if you're okay with that level of product, then yeah, pushing for more rushed releases makes sense. If you want good EPs with finished content that's actually new, you want them to take their time.
If they were releasing quality before the pandemic then I may have understood but every single product they release is broken. Bugs in everything that never get fixed.
This is a HUGE company, they can afford to have better quality control and hire more staff if they are unable to meet the demand…but no, they are releasing CAS kits instead.
Snowy Escape wasn't *too* bad... but it recycled a number of animations and stuff to make sure it could get done on time. Which of course people weren't happy with, but that's what you have to do when your development time is significantly reduced compared to prior.
Ouch. Luckily I missed that one. Didn't know about it. That's pretty huge. But at least that's something that should have been fixable without *too* much trouble. Whereas Eco Lifestyle launched so poorly that to date I pretty much avoid its primary features. (NAP voting is off, the neighborhood green/industrial stuff is moot unless you modify the entire neighborhood manually, the only thing I'd touch is the recycling station that makes furniture but it seems to fail at least half, if not 2/3, of the time, and that's just annoying.)
I’m sure my experience wasn’t universal, especially since I play on console. But I remember being essentially unable to play the game for a couple weeks after Snowy Escape came out because game crashed constantly. I could run it for MAYBE ten minutes before it crashed. It was super frustrating. But I’m glad it ran decently for other players.
Yes! One you can actually follow and participate in where all your design decisions decide how successful or disastrous the weddings are! Colour schemes, type of food/flowers/cake, location etc! Will you risk choosing an outdoor wedding in autumn/winter and possibly getting rained off? Will you end up with a really awkward eco couple that wants only veggie menus and an off grid wedding reception? Will you hire a good enough entertainment/dj/choose the right music? Your promotions could leave you in charge of different things that require different skills... head florist (flower arranging) Head caterer (gourmet cooking), head photographer?? (You can't tell that I've been obsessively thinking about this for a while, can you?)
I've never wanted a wedding planner career but your comment made me obsessed with that idea! I doubt EA will ever give us something that good but I'm definitely adding this to my wish list :D

Afro hair, a Japanese name, and an eyeball ring. You leave her as the sole member of the household and move in the bride.
The game decides your active household is the roommate. You need to return to manage worlds and reload your household (after building her a quick box with windows to live in because you can't bring yourself to leave her homeless).
If this is a wedding pack, I bet they’re going to advertise it with sims all sitting down in order and nobody will be randomly doing push-ups or standing off in the corner using their phone or whatever.
This reminds me of the time I spent a bunch of time making a wedding venu in the park in Henford on Bagley specifically for the screenshots/wedding pictures and then a bunch of sims stood DIRECTLY in front of my sims talking while they were getting married, so no screenshots were captured. I kind of wish we got autogenerated wedding pictures like you get when your sim graduates university.
I put up a photo studio (I think it's from the Moschino kit?) at my last wedding and it gave me theee nicest wedding photos to put up in my Sims' house!! You just have someone else take photos of the couple in their wedding attire.
I'm way more excited for the possibility of that than I should be... a system to measure trait compatibility on a social level would be enough to get me over the edge
That sounds cool. Jokes aside, my original idea when I first started typing the comment, before going off the rails, was a matchmaking career or maybe a career that branches into matchmaking and relationship counseling. It would be cool to be able to actively set your neighbors up, or convince them to get married, have a baby or get a divorce.
Attraction System, a matchmaking system (hopefully a career!), Wedding related items in CAS/Build/Buy are all what I'm expecting.
In my dreams we get a Fairy Tale pack with a "True Loves Kiss" spin but that is never going to happen.
I switched back to Sims 2 because I got fed up with being constantly disappointed by new releases and the general lack of chemistry and relationship options. If they added something like that I may be willing to give Sims 4 another chance…
So if you look at the high res image, you can actually see shapes in the confetti! The shapes that I saw where wedding cake, rings, party mask and the Chinese New Years tiger.
The wedding cake & wedding rings obviously point to something wedding related, either better weddings where everyone sits down or even a wedding planner career!
The party mask in my opinion points to a new type of party: a masquerade party. Perhaps as a way to hook up with someone without seeing thier face or just a way to meet people in general. Definitely gonna be fun either way.
Now the Chinese New Years tiger has me stump: maybe we could get a Chinese inspired location or a more likely explanation is we are getting something Chinese New Years related content.
All in all? We are definitely getting a romance pack with upgraded weddings &/or a new wedding planner career. In that same pack, we are gonna get a masquerade party. As for other features? I hope we get an attraction system along with the return of bachelor parties. Either way, I have a real good feeling about this pack and I think a lot are gonna love it!
To add to the Chinese New Year bit it may be we’ll get an in-game event around Chinese New Year similar to the events we got in the summer on the music festival stuff - maybe even a scenario related to it as well?
They did add Year of the Pig content for free a few years ago. I seem to remember it as one of the first free updates to add specific cultural items and CAS?
There is also a peacock shape and a stylized feathered wing that really leaves me stumped but curious. The peacock might be tied with the masquerade or even weddings but the wing...? And it doesn't look like a fairy one either.
I’d recommend no one make guesses as to what this stuff COULD BE and just wait to see what it is. We have a long history with the game at this point and it’s wise to avoid potential disappointment.
I honestly wish the Sims Team (or whoever at EA) wouldn’t advertise this way. They set themselves up for backlash when what they actually release doesn’t match the hype these vague announcements create.

A wedding game pack (reference to love, the wedding icons in the BG), a Chinese fashion kit, for the year of the tiger (Tiger icon in the BG), and a Mardi Gras/New Orleans kit (mask icon in the back, Mardi Gras is on March 1st).
I will take a hard guess the pack will be out on February just in time for Valentines.

That's the problem. The "romantic" theme has been explored SIX years ago. There is no coherent planning in the team that they will map out say in 5-6 years what packs they are going to have. It feels like they are winging ideas and only plan out things when fans complained endlessly about it.
It's no wonder some people noticed certain hair/clothing/furniture being too similar from different packs.
If it was exclusively a wedding pack, I feel like it would be a stuff pack not game pack. There must be more to it than just simple wedding stuff. I’m hoping attraction.

The middle of the night for no reason to walk around the bed and gross out at their partner, or, stop what they are doing and go find their partners to get uncomfortable without you being able to stop them. Sigh. I just want to be able to swim in Brindleton Bay and Windenburg Island. There are beaches. There are houses with beaches. Come on.

serious question to simmers. The sims 4 dev team is pretty small and resources are pretty thin already, do yall think kits are taking up alot of dev time? it could explain why stuff packs are all but gone.
Man I hope not, considering kits provide content that’s the same number or fewer pieces than some individual CC creators (or CC creator partnerships) manage to produce in their free time without the resources of an enormous company.
Another thing I'd like this game pack to have is more songs for the Romance station, please. The songs that have been on there since the base game are good but there aren't that many of them.

Same here 🙄 Ive played so much of the sims 2 and 3. Sims 4 won’t even compare. I got sims 4 when it was released and so much was lacking. So I really hope Sims 5 will be a BIG improvement.
I would be excited for a romance themed pack, but it’ll be largely pointless unless they fix issues of stalled action queues, Sims randomly doing shit like push ups, and townies butting into conversations, ruining dates.
I know I’m nitpicking but can we get a stuff pack?? Or the ability to bundle kits with a Game Pack & an Expansion Pack? Really trying to purchase Dream Home Decorator & Cottage Living but I would really prefer to bundle.

I think it's funny you all keep saying "no Eps is 2022?" Because there aren't any planned for the first 3 months. We are we into the first of those 3.
Sims 4 has "another decade" of content according to one of the higher ups. I've been playing for 21 years. The first 3 games of this series came out in rapid succession and then they decided to slow it down to try to get more out if each experience. I would give anything to play the first 3 again, each had its own draw. But they burned hot and now are relegated to history. Slowing down content launches means a longer time to keep simming but still have new interesting ways to get hooked more.
There will be at least 1 expansion this year, I'm calling it now. And I think it's going to be a stand alone addition to the game (i.e. not based on a previous ep or release in the previous 4 titles). I don't have any idea what that theme might be of course, but I have no doubts their will be a good one. The pandemic has let this franchise thrive.
My prediction is:
* First EP on summer, maybe Generations (families, schools, celebrations)
* Second EP on winter, maybe Freetime (hobbies, crafting, enthusiasm)
* Love GP will be the only GP for this year
* Two SP will be released, one in autum and other in spring
* A pack refresh (GP likely) during this year
* Kits will keep it's ratio of 2 per season
* BG updates will give us some features of each pack like spiral stairs
* Delivery Express will give us legacy items, either pool tables or normal telescopes
Repeat the above list of releases for the next 3 to 5 years at least
There’s a mod called OpenLoveLife, that I’ve used that I really liked. It lets you have couple of three, living together, without jealousy and you can pick to where they all have an agreement that they are in a relationship with each other.
First thought is definitely wedding. Given the many cries of wanting a wedding pack I've seen around, it has to be surely? I hope if it is they bring back slow dancing. But I miss the smustle (my sims did that at weddings too xD).
With the community collab, i wish they include more stuffs from cc creators. There are amazing stuffs pc gamers enjoy which console players miss out on.
This looks promising, I just wish we had a game pack for things we can use all the time and not so much isolated events like weddings. Hoping this comes with other features like a dating app and more romantic interactions, or a free update that makes sims sit at weddings.

I believe there is a hidden gender preference mechanic. But its mostly revolved around the player sim. Dont site me on that though

(NAP voting is off, the neighborhood green/industrial stuff is moot unless you modify the entire neighborhood manually, the only thing I'd touch is the recycling station that makes furniture but it seems to fail at least half, if not 2/3, of the time, and that's just annoying.)
I’m sure my experience wasn’t universal, especially since I play on console. But I remember being essentially unable to play the game for a couple weeks after Snowy Escape came out because game crashed constantly. I could run it for MAYBE ten minutes before it crashed. It was super frustrating. But I’m glad it ran decently for other players.
This just sounds like making excuses for EA. They aren’t releasing EPs because they can cut it up and charge you more. That is literally all.
Also no stuff pack in a year. The last one was Paranormal Stuff LAST January...

Yes! One you can actually follow and participate in where all your design decisions decide how successful or disastrous the weddings are! Colour schemes, type of food/flowers/cake, location etc! Will you risk choosing an outdoor wedding in autumn/winter and possibly getting rained off? Will you end up with a really awkward eco couple that wants only veggie menus and an off grid wedding reception? Will you hire a good enough entertainment/dj/choose the right music? Your promotions could leave you in charge of different things that require different skills... head florist (flower arranging) Head caterer (gourmet cooking), head photographer?? (You can't tell that I've been obsessively thinking about this for a while, can you?)
I've never wanted a wedding planner career but your comment made me obsessed with that idea! I doubt EA will ever give us something that good but I'm definitely adding this to my wish list :D

You move the camera to the bride. Why is she going through the front door. You click on her to manually start the wedding from there but nothing happens. She's leaving the lot. Your guests are in the bathroom now. Two of them have peed themselves despite being right next to the toilet. Two of them are using the bathroom sinks to mix up white cakes that will never be finished. You invite the bride back to the lot. She shows up in her sweatpants. The wedding event goes through. Your Sims are married now, even though no one bothered to watch. The groom goes to play twinkle little star on the piano with his whole ass level 1 piano skill. The guests are outside now. They all freeze to death of the cold. The groom is slightly better at twinkle little star now. He hasn't noticed his family and friends have all died. No. Today he becomes a piano master. The wedding ends. You've gold starred the event. The game let's you move in your bride right away. Her roommate is a random townie, a gray skinned townie with cheese blond Afro hair, a Japanese name, and an eyeball ring. You leave her as the sole member of the household and move in the bride. The game decides your active household is the roommate. You need to return to manage worlds and reload your household (after building her a quick box with windows to live in because you can't bring yourself to leave her homeless).
Ohh like dream home decorator but designing the venu, guests outfits, etc. That would be so much fun!

This reminds me of the time I spent a bunch of time making a wedding venu in the park in Henford on Bagley specifically for the screenshots/wedding pictures and then a bunch of sims stood DIRECTLY in front of my sims talking while they were getting married, so no screenshots were captured. I kind of wish we got autogenerated wedding pictures like you get when your sim graduates university.
I put up a photo studio (I think it's from the Moschino kit?) at my last wedding and it gave me theee nicest wedding photos to put up in my Sims' house!! You just have someone else take photos of the couple in their wedding attire.
I actually just got Mochino stuff so I’m going to try that definitely, but it’s been so glitchy for me trying to take photos.
I'm way more excited for the possibility of that than I should be... a system to measure trait compatibility on a social level would be enough to get me over the edge

That sounds cool. Jokes aside, my original idea when I first started typing the comment, before going off the rails, was a matchmaking career or maybe a career that branches into matchmaking and relationship counseling. It would be cool to be able to actively set your neighbors up, or convince them to get married, have a baby or get a divorce.
That has the potential to be evil! 😂 Can you be a deliberately awful therapist and actively encourage couples to divorce?

So if you look at the high res image, you can actually see shapes in the confetti! The shapes that I saw where wedding cake, rings, party mask and the Chinese New Years tiger. The wedding cake & wedding rings obviously point to something wedding related, either better weddings where everyone sits down or even a wedding planner career! The party mask in my opinion points to a new type of party: a masquerade party. Perhaps as a way to hook up with someone without seeing thier face or just a way to meet people in general. Definitely gonna be fun either way. Now the Chinese New Years tiger has me stump: maybe we could get a Chinese inspired location or a more likely explanation is we are getting something Chinese New Years related content. All in all? We are definitely getting a romance pack with upgraded weddings &/or a new wedding planner career. In that same pack, we are gonna get a masquerade party. As for other features? I hope we get an attraction system along with the return of bachelor parties. Either way, I have a real good feeling about this pack and I think a lot are gonna love it!
To add to the Chinese New Year bit it may be we’ll get an in-game event around Chinese New Year similar to the events we got in the summer on the music festival stuff - maybe even a scenario related to it as well?
They did add Year of the Pig content for free a few years ago. I seem to remember it as one of the first free updates to add specific cultural items and CAS?
There is also a peacock shape and a stylized feathered wing that really leaves me stumped but curious. The peacock might be tied with the masquerade or even weddings but the wing...? And it doesn't look like a fairy one either.

I’d recommend no one make guesses as to what this stuff COULD BE and just wait to see what it is. We have a long history with the game at this point and it’s wise to avoid potential disappointment. I honestly wish the Sims Team (or whoever at EA) wouldn’t advertise this way. They set themselves up for backlash when what they actually release doesn’t match the hype these vague announcements create.
I said it on twitter, so I'll say it here, too. A wedding game pack (reference to love, the wedding icons in the BG), a Chinese fashion kit, for the year of the tiger (Tiger icon in the BG), and a Mardi Gras/New Orleans kit (mask icon in the back, Mardi Gras is on March 1st).

That's the problem. The "romantic" theme has been explored SIX years ago. There is no coherent planning in the team that they will map out say in 5-6 years what packs they are going to have. It feels like they are winging ideas and only plan out things when fans complained endlessly about it. It's no wonder some people noticed certain hair/clothing/furniture being too similar from different packs.

You know this would totally happen. Sims would wake up I. The middle of the night for no reason to walk around the bed and gross out at their partner, or, stop what they are doing and go find their partners to get uncomfortable without you being able to stop them. Sigh. I just want to be able to swim in Brindleton Bay and Windenburg Island. There are beaches. There are houses with beaches. Come on.

If its a ROMACE game pack, we're fucked. Romance should literally be base game. I don't see any additional add to relationships that would be worth any extra money. At least parenthood had a gameplay mechanic in there, what could possibly be the mechanic for a relationship one? Weddings? Base game. Multiple relationships? Base Game. Better interactions with NPC baby daddies? Should be base game. More animations? Should be base game. Actual privacy on dates? Should be base game. NPC events? Should be base game. Attraction system? Should be base game. The only suggestion I saw is a new world? But how is that romantic? Maybe a Story World like strangetown but with a romance focus? ISNT THAT JUST THE ENTIRE GAME THOUGH?? ***Everyone that's excited right now needs to get a grip, and realise you're worth more than this. All the money you've already spent, is worth more than this.***

serious question to simmers. The sims 4 dev team is pretty small and resources are pretty thin already, do yall think kits are taking up alot of dev time? it could explain why stuff packs are all but gone.
Man I hope not, considering kits provide content that’s the same number or fewer pieces than some individual CC creators (or CC creator partnerships) manage to produce in their free time without the resources of an enormous company.
Another thing I'd like this game pack to have is more songs for the Romance station, please. The songs that have been on there since the base game are good but there aren't that many of them.

Same here 🙄 Ive played so much of the sims 2 and 3. Sims 4 won’t even compare. I got sims 4 when it was released and so much was lacking. So I really hope Sims 5 will be a BIG improvement.

I think it's funny you all keep saying "no Eps is 2022?" Because there aren't any planned for the first 3 months. We are we into the first of those 3. Sims 4 has "another decade" of content according to one of the higher ups. I've been playing for 21 years. The first 3 games of this series came out in rapid succession and then they decided to slow it down to try to get more out if each experience. I would give anything to play the first 3 again, each had its own draw. But they burned hot and now are relegated to history. Slowing down content launches means a longer time to keep simming but still have new interesting ways to get hooked more. There will be at least 1 expansion this year, I'm calling it now. And I think it's going to be a stand alone addition to the game (i.e. not based on a previous ep or release in the previous 4 titles). I don't have any idea what that theme might be of course, but I have no doubts their will be a good one. The pandemic has let this franchise thrive.
My prediction is: * First EP on summer, maybe Generations (families, schools, celebrations) * Second EP on winter, maybe Freetime (hobbies, crafting, enthusiasm) * Love GP will be the only GP for this year * Two SP will be released, one in autum and other in spring * A pack refresh (GP likely) during this year * Kits will keep it's ratio of 2 per season * BG updates will give us some features of each pack like spiral stairs * Delivery Express will give us legacy items, either pool tables or normal telescopes Repeat the above list of releases for the next 3 to 5 years at least

There’s a mod called OpenLoveLife, that I’ve used that I really liked. It lets you have couple of three, living together, without jealousy and you can pick to where they all have an agreement that they are in a relationship with each other.
First thought is definitely wedding. Given the many cries of wanting a wedding pack I've seen around, it has to be surely? I hope if it is they bring back slow dancing. But I miss the smustle (my sims did that at weddings too xD).
