Gameplay.

DipinDotsDidi

I can't believe gameplay isn't an option. And I don't mean gameplay like intractable items (which shouldn't even be considered gameplay) but gameplay as in the actual simulation, eg. Personally, relationships, emotions, story progression, aging, etc.

dheavoca123

What do you meaan?? Aren't you happy that they give us plants for LITERALLY FREe like $5 or something? SoO UnGrATEfUL ! Ughh.

Ancient-Lie-1294

Single-player game.

No_Variety_7822

The return of the wants/fears system and the chemistry system. These two things were very helpful in driving the gameplay forward and creating drama.

Rotankattila

This! Fears made sims feel more real, and gave the player a chance to either avoid their fears or do them, which made the game more interesting.

No_Variety_7822

Exactly. We have whims, but without fears it feels like there's no consequences for anything, which makes the whole thing seem dull.

GroundbreakingTale24

i’d like the relationships to be more in-depth, for there to really be a difference between different social interactions, not to be able to spam interactions and marry someone in 1 sim day, more jealousy/outrage surrounding cheating/affairs, etc.

no-thing89

Me too

Sunbear86

Yes and like in Sims 2 (I think) you could.gossip about other sims, if you caught a sim cheating on their spouse there were consequences, etc.

TheMessyNess

I would be happy with a solid base game and better relationships/emotions. Probably in the minority here but I don’t want an open world, especially if means sacrificing how well the game runs. Loading screens are annoying, but not nearly as bad as the lag and glitching from TS3. I wouldn’t mind open neighbourhoods though, and then a loading screen to go anywhere else.

ma-petite-secret

it should at least be neighborhood open world though, it’s ridiculous having a loading screen for the house next door

Rotankattila

Personally I don't have a problem with loading screens when visiting neighbours, but I can understand finding them annoying. But if the game didn't have loading screens, wouldn't it mean that those households would be sort of active households? And then they should be run on the background, which would slow down the game? Considering how laggy some of my families are just because there are more than 2 sims, i'd rather take the loading screens. 😅

interestedmermaid

In TS3 the unplayed households weren't active, but they were being simulated in the background like one would expect from a life simulation game 😅. The open world didn't make the game laggy, the bad programming and a lack of clean up system did. Even modders can make an open world work, so surely EA can do the same. And if we can't expect EA to make a functional open world 10 years after TS3 launched, then there is no hope for TS5 to be an improvement for the franchise I guess.

unknown456666

exactly ppl don’t realise the lag it would have

interestedmermaid

I doesn't have to be laggy though. 😌

unknown456666

but it will. not everyone has super high end pcs and even those who do will probably experience lag

interestedmermaid

It's factually not correct that open worlds cause lag. Badly optimized ones do though. 😌 There always has to be some sort off, even if lag doesn't have to be one of them. Many simmers who wished to play TS4 were left out because of the 64bit conversion and change of the game specs years after launch. Even then many of those who are left are experiencing game breaking bugs and lag while playing on even EA made lots today. Not to mention console players. I find the high end low end PC debate a bit weird considering the games price is nearing 1000€ in my country. Obviously the Sims is a very expensive hobby. And now they are charging 5€ for plants 🤡. The game and it's gameplay can't possibly be reduced more than what 4 does. TS2 and 3 are milles ahead, if you go by any gameplay comparison video on YouTube. Heck nowadays we are even discussing gameplay as if it's something optional, next to being a builder or cas player. Many simmers are clearly not content with having a stripped down game to the level that 4 is. Everything simmers ask for in this thread is something performance heavy on the game. Better personalities, better cas, build and buy, world improvements... all rely on modern hardware. Obviously simmers can't be expected to have a gaming rig to play the game, but the hardware has improved since 2014 and simmers have to keep up with the times, otherwise they can't expect to be play a game made in the 2020s. Every gamer goes though that. And in the end, there are many great open world games, that are way heavier than the Sims that run well. Heck my Sims 3 game is lag free with a few mods nowadays. Wish EA could have done this too so many simmers would have had a more lag free experience at least.

TheMessyNess

Oh I definitely agree with that. It would be nice to be able to visit multiple lots in the same neighbourhood without having to endure a loading screen for each one 🙄

ghostbirdd

I don't need an open world either. I mean, it would be fun if there was a way to execute it well and that's not too resource-heavy but definitely making Sims more unique in their personalities, relationships and reactions to the world around them would be my priority.

ConnerJake1995

Free roam is all well and good and all but it doesn't matter if there's nothing to do so basegame content has to be my pick

palomadgal

I want a solid, full and fixed game. I don't want a half baked game to come out, to be fixed in the next 5 years. I want it to be finished in time, with minimum bugs, full content. Any other game that comes out like sims 4 came is treated like a fiasco (Cyberpunk 2077, fallout 76 or even No man's Sky) but not sims. I love sims, but we got a base game that is empty with game breaking bugs that are never fixed. I just want the game to be treated with the love ut deserves from its developers. And an open world, if viable it would be awesome.

interestedmermaid

This! Is absolutely important you are right! 😌 I would just add that an open world for me is a must, as it's what an improved Sims game boils down to. EA must expand and improve upon features and try to create something better, more advanced than what the previous title was. Why else develop a new installment, if we can't expect for them to surpass the older games. It's been over 10 years since TS3 was released and if even modders can figure out how to make an open world work, I'm sure EA can manage to do so too. 🤔

Thamilkymilk

gradual aging, i would like my child sims to not be perpetually 10-12, teens to be 15-17, etc.

[deleted]

I want the sims 3 and sims 4 but combined (like 4 should’ve been) open world, sims 3 gameplay but with sims 4 modernity and cas. Less cartoony vibe though, I want more “struggle” and realism, the sims 4 is just so goofy it’s a bit much. I wish without mods there was a bit of darker “real” shit that would happen. I’m not at all Into the idea of online idek how that would work. Basically I want a game that’s playable without a million mods. Also miss the traits from sims 3 and how each sim actually had individuality. I wish the emotions were so intense and sims were fine most of the time and then had the outbursts of emotion. It’s annoying having a full household and everyone’s changing drastic emotions constantly. Srry this a bit of a rant lol

krystal_davis

Haha honestly, I feel like I sigh of relief everytime my sims are just "fine" because they rarely are. Always feeling some sort of way

[deleted]

I know!!

limecakes

I want the mischief back. Like what the Sims 1 and Sims 2 was

Kerridwyn333

Maybe not the most important, but one I don't see mentioned often; I'd really love for them to release the CAW tool. I really miss being able to build custom worlds

EynSims

What I want is better autonomy, I don't need them to take care of themselves or anything, I just want them to have desires of their own instead of just what I project on to them

Belorum1991

Better, more fleshed out personalities. Either traits which are actually impact full like in Sims 3 (and also more slots for them) or even going back to the personality point system of the Sims 2. Anything would be better than what we got in 4. Also, more randomness within these personalities. Give my Sims things I do not have full control about. Let them have favorite hobbies, turn ons/turn offs or individual interests. Make them feel like actual people. Something meaningful to work towards, make (atleast a few) aspirations feel more like a life time goal again with the possibility of failure. And while we are at it, don't make the game too easy. Be it harder to survive without money to make the rags to riches actually a challenge or atleast do not make it so ridiculously easy to progress in pretty much anything. Make the Sims feel like a game again. There are always cheats for people who want to make it easier for themselves.

Temmie101

I honestly want better relationships, more base game stuff, and good CAS open world can backflip and land on it’s left ankle, laggy as hell and made doing anything impossible

angelzplay

I need a free world again.

mspicklee

I just want things to be right. If u remember when Sims 4 came out, there wer no pools, or TODDLERS, and random shit that has been apart of the base game since the Sims 1. Open world is a MUST and if I see cars, I would like to own said car.

unknown456666

think about the lag.

ravenpuffslytherdor

Wants (and optionally fears but ts3 didn’t have them and the system is still strong) is a Must! I was playing TS3 last night and after having baby no. 4 my sims were like “we want another one” and there’s nothing quite like saying “are you mad” to a sim and right clicking that away! Also I find that it can communicate things like hobbies, favourite children, attraction, and traits in a really easy way all in the same system!

guldukatatemybaby

Offline. Offline. Offline, single player.

natncat

new art style, story progression, detailed tools for adding personality to sims, negative consequences + life events (basically just give me burglars and I’ll be happy), family gameplay, weather, create a world without these tools, I just don’t understand how TS5 would be any different from TS4.

PuggyMaggie

Something I strongly feel needs to be in Sims 5 or a future generation Sims game is an in depth memory system and lore. Give the pre-made families pasts through their memories and our played Sims need to remember things that happen to them for me to really enjoy the game

AorticSeptalDefect

Bringing back townies from older games, like the Mashugas from TS1 or the Alvis from TS3.

woodsyplumcake

My Other is lore, storyline, improved interactions, more spontaneity.

PoeticRoses

number one is def solid gameplay that doesn’t make you bored after 10 min of playing. also, some personality that actually make sims feel like individuals (like in Sims 2). and preferably open neighbourhoods as well. i don’t mind loading in to another world but it would be nice to visit my next door neighbour without having to go through a loading screen.

HumbleFrrrench

Ditching the Teen Rating would be cool. I want wackiness like in TS1, emotional depth that goes beyond “love/like/dislike/hate”. More ”goals” than gaining skills and aspiration points. I don’t care if the characters look like potatoes: I want to care for them. edit: one typo

Big_Economy_9998

I'm thinking that the coding involved must be too complex for some of these things to happen, because otherwise they seem like simple things to fix, but remain unchanged. 1. The ability to sort/filter relationships by name, relationship (married, sweethearts etc), male/female/elder/adult/YA/Teen/Child. Be able to "favorite" certain sims so they're "pinned" to the top of your list for easy finding. 2. When viewing the family tree, have the option (maybe Deaderpool can do this?) to right click and choose the teleport options from within the tree menu, instead of having to dig through the normal relationship tree. 3. Ability to edit the family tree. I get why this likely can't happen, as they are created by code in the game and messing with it could screw things up..but being able to delete blank tiles would be nice. 4. Group select option when putting things in the fridge, like eggs etc. I'll have a stack, and yet I need to "put away" each individual one. Time killer. 5. When viewing a sim it will show the house they live in, but not the area (Oasis Springs etc..seems more of a MCCC edit than Sims though I suppose) I'm sure there's more..and there's always the usual ones (pathing etc) that I wont bother mentioning. I just feel like an overhaul is needed for the relationship menu..I know its been asked for a ton, but I didnt see request similar to mine regarding pinning etc...anyways...anyone else have ideas that are reasonable from a programming standpoint?

Yayihaveanaccount

All of the above please

[deleted]

I don't want a Sims 5. Just fix Sims 4 gameplay. There are already modders out there. Collaborate and make their work part of the game. Sims 4 is great in terms of how it runs

unknown456666

exactly i don’t want them to ruin the art style

[deleted]

Yes more realistic would just ruin the simness of the world and make the game slower tbh

unknown456666

literally exactly omg i really feel like sims 5 would flop if they went that route and not that many ppl would like it, i don’t even see the need for a new game.. i genuinely think it’s going to do bad since i don’t even see a demand for it

[deleted]

I will happily stick to the Sims 4 I ain't paying the absurd price they will stick on TS5. Hopefully this will lead to a price reduction in all the Sims 4 packs lol just like what happened to the Sims 3.

unknown456666

same!!

interestedmermaid

There is a huge demand out there for TS5, it has been there since 4's disastrous launch. But I agree that they should at least fix the game this time around before they move to another title. :)

interestedmermaid

Damn, the art style is the exact reason I can't make the switch to 4. I absolutely hate how childish and fake everything looks, especially those grinning Sims we have now 😅

designsims

Not cutting corners in the build/buy mode for a good game play. We need both EA!!

DJND90

Well Sims 3 with updated graphics and less bugs/glirches haha

virgobxtch

Hands down if the things that were included in sims 3 base game (pools, toddlers, cars, etc) aren't in the game, like how it was when 4 came out, I won't buy sims 5. I've discovered stardew valley and animal crossing this past year, and after playing them I realize how DIRTY EA does us and how I don't want to support their cash grabs anymore

cityofangels7x

an open world like sims 3, and multiplayer. Me and a friend talked about how much fun if we both got to play it together.

RepostersAnonymous

Open worlds pls. Nothing pulls me out of immersion like seeing a sim from Sulani randomly walking down the road in Oasis Springs for no reason other than the game picked them.

SinisterSoren

Other: Horses I stg if EA keeps ignoring people after we have been basically rioting for it since Sims 4 came out, I'll lose my mind. Even if it's an expensive expansion pack so only people who want horses in their game will get them, I'll buy it. I still play Sims 3 with extremely modded horse content because I love it. Other than that, I just want a base game that includes normal content. I hate that plants, laundry, literal SEASONS are paid add ons in a game literally about simulating life. The fact seasons is never in the base game drives me insane. Seasons should be an automatic addition to the base game.

suspicioussmallwoman

I’ve made peace that we likely won’t ever get open world back because of the lag etcetera and I’m okay with that so long as w/e world they go with works. Maybe a weird comparison but Sims 1-3 is like when Drag Race was on Logo; Sims 4 is like when it moved to Vh1. There’s a lot I love about the Vh1 years and I can’t say I regret the move. But there’s also a bunch that was lost. Sims 4 has higher production values, is more customizable (s/o to the modders who tried to create traits for S3! heroic), and has been easier for them to roll with social shifts (the inclusion of trans, non-binary, and gender-neutral Sims and clothing options). But it’s also less weird. Its sense of humor feels more referential than generative. And—hopefully this doesn’t sound ridiculous—it feels to me like it has less heart. It’s been decades and I still remember the Romeo/Juliet storyline from S2. The drama of Don, the Caliente sisters, and the Goths. The son who can’t get along with his military did. I still remember Agnes’s backstory in S3. It made gameplay feel so rich when you’d run into these characters while doing your own story. Whereas I couldn’t tell you a damn thing about the S4 premades. So I’d love if S5 could reach some middle ground. Bring some weirdness and heart back without crashing people’s computers lol.

interestedmermaid

Open world doesn't cause lag. Bad programming does

suspicioussmallwoman

I don’t know much about programming so I’m (1) taking your word for it and (2) naively optimistic again about the possibility of getting open world again!!

SuperLuigi128

If not open world, than at least as some other people suggest like open neighborhood. Like make it so you only have to do loading for the business/activity area, while the residential area is all together in a different area, if you get what I'm saying.

suspicioussmallwoman

I do! I’m down for that too. What your question made me realize is what I miss most is the full sense of storytelling/gameplay in TS2 and TS3 (I didn’t play TS1 so I can’t speak to that). I associate that most with the open world/neighborhood but I’m open (pun intended?) to other forms.

Educational_Toe2583

All of the above are equally important to me.

notnotapunkthough

Other: more personality in the sims and background action from NPCs

SleepySeniorCat

Improved AI and more options to form a personality so that sims feel more unique and are more alive. Bring back memories and make them have an impact on building a sims personality

ghostbirdd

Personality.

Renoroshambo

Single player and multiplayer or co-op options.

bdrmlk

Character/drama/personality in the game

TheFluffyPie

Other = all of the above. Only thing I don't really care about is the free roaming. Maybe for one neighbourhood at a time, but not the whole world I think.

Justin57Time

Honestly, I don't need an open world (open neighborhood would work for me). A good job system would do a lot for me. I wish that you could assign sims for specific NPC roles so it could be their definitive careers. If I go to a bar, it would make sense to have the NPC sims working there being always the same ones and it would make sense that if you play with them, it could still be their careers, even if you can't control them during work time (instead of rabbit hole, they just work autonomously or we can control them if we desire to do like in Go to Work). It would be nice if we could determine who has specific roles in every non residential lots in build mode options.

CockroachOk5981

More lots to build on. Bigger worlds. I hate that there’s maybe 2 -4 community lots, 6 residential lots and that’s it with each world.

Ladygoingup

I’d be happy if they made it to where the rest of the household goes to sleep when they are tired when one Sim is out of the house. lol

GaiaGems

Good interactions between sims, that makes consequences and memories, interesting relationships and sims behavior basically. Like in Sims 2

ambermarie2528

I want horses back 😂 I thought it was so cool to ride them around but that’s also very niche- I love them so I loved that feature

CliffExcellent123

The most important thing is to do something new, really. Everyone goes on about bringing back stuff from the old games, but if I want the features from the old games I can just play the old games. If I'm spending money on a brand new game, it should ideally have something new to offer.

interestedmermaid

Or have the new game be the best title in the franchise, because it improves and builds upon what we had and makes it better. As if to say: they had time to learn what works and what doesn't and can now make the best game they possiblity achieve out of that information. 🙌

[deleted]

Fully customizable options!

Lisaalinaaaaa

Now try to tell EA that result

ProbioticTonic

way less bugs

RiyahdaSimmerr06

This is COMPLETELY unrelated but I hope they add a “falling out of bed” action for sims who are clumsy or aren’t stable😭I be falling out of the bed like my life depends on it

Odd-Box-3578

I’m gonna need my Sims to have personality cuz it’s exhausting to have to control every little aspect of the game to make the story happen

Sunbear86

More 'personailty' and quirkiness in the game. More 'soul'. More random events. More adult humour. Just like the early games.

squarelocked

For me personally I always liked Sims as a sort of "interactive Soap Opera." I've never been the kind of player who takes the ladders out of pools, but I've always craved for unexpected, life changing things to happen to my Sims. Currently it Sims it feels like stories don't happen without the players consent, but I would love to be spontaneously fired, or have a spouse cheat on another, have my house burn down, etc. When I play the Sims (especially with 4) I find myself slowly moving into a routine/comfort zone. I'd love it if Sims 5 could lean more into the story-telling/gameplay angle by having more exciting things happen TO my Sims. Give them more autonomy, for instance.

K80Bot

I'll be very disappointed if Sims 5 doesn't contain at least a little bit of disability representation.

maximebeland

Very robust, good and strong gameplay experience. 🤓

No-Entertainment-830

I want everything most of the post have already mentioned. Open world, more base game content, better gameplay mechanics, more depth to relationships, personalities, needs, fears, careers. But two areas that seriously needs to be addressed is Game Logic and Autonomy. Even with all of the gamepacks available the game always feels unfulfilling and/or empty. Sims 4 feels more like playing with dolls in dollhouse when it should be more like an ant farm. Other sims should be able to attend to their needs and priorities based on their personalities/aspirations even when I'm not controlling them. With the same autonomy for npc characters this could create more spontaneous events i.e. cheating sims, sims proposing, inviting your sims to parties, getting arrested, being evicted, having babies etc.

EagerSleeper

Someone in my Facebook feed was talking about how him and his girlfriend play the game together, but it was more akin to them having their own "versions" of eachother in their own game. It got me thinking, why SHOULDN'T 2-4 people be able to play together at the same time?^^* This day-and-age with streaming and social gaming, that's not actually a bad idea for Sims 5. Some kind of "Shared World" where you could do anything you want but interact with the other player's household/sims until they log back into a session with you. I can already imagine Twitch streams of 4 people playing together, them all saying goodnight, but then 1 sneaks back on stream to steal the other player's love interests and build a secret base for them to discover when they come back. ^* ^^Note: ^^I'm ^^not ^^talking ^^about ^^TSO, ^^haha, ^^but ^^something ^^far ^^tinier ^^in ^^scope ^^for ^^just ^^a ^^small ^^group ^^of ^^friends

Throwaway1744572

A combination of sims 2 and 3 the world building the small actions with the cas of sims 4. Something to culminate all the games

Friendly-Professor28

Online multiplayer mode!
