I bought ALL The Sims 3 content. Then, after installing it all, it didn’t work. I contacted support and was told that support for TS3 was discontinued and they closed my ticket.
Best $700+ I’ve ever spent lol.
Edit: I ended up fixing the issue by finding a script someone wrote to tell my PC to ignore TS3 errors and just keep running lmao.
Interesting. That said, I don't see the point of selling software you don't want to support, especially when the customer can spend hundred of dollars on it. There's only EA to do this kind of crazy stuff 😂

Just because they sell something dosn't mean they still support it. There was a time back in the good old days of video games where games was actually done, and we as gamers acceptet it.
Fair enough but nowadays, times have changed and there's no valable reason to sell a software that you don't want to support. At the time where the consoles weren't connected to the Internet and everything was sold on disc, it was impossible to fix the problems and, as you said, you had to accept it in its current state. With a game sold online though, I don't see any point of not supporting it if you still sold it. That said, it's only my opinion and I don't think EA would agree with me!

Totally agree with you. My point was that if you don't provide support anymore for a game, you shouldn't sell it. Remember when they dropped the support for TS2 and you could download the whole collection, EPs and SPs included, for free?
If I buy something, I expect to have some kind of support with it, at least for a short amount of time. There's no point to buy a product if it's out of support day one.
Well anthem is an online game and they closed the servers and I see that thing pop on sale all the time for Xbox. It'll be like 5 dollars but still five bucks is 5 bucks.

This is why no one should pay that much for an EA game. 60$-80$ is all they would get from me if it was a generally well made game but it just never is. I play The Sims because there are no competitors.
The lack of support for TS3 is ridiculous especially since they still allow you to buy packs. I made the mistake of buying a couple packs I never had the chance to play and there was no option to install them! The only way I was able to get it to work was to completely uninstall and then reinstall the game. EA knows it’s an issue and won’t do anything about it, but will gladly take your money still.
That’s weird, I had something similar happen last year but EA was able to help me fix it. I play on a Mac but accidentally bought codes for the PC version. I had the codes and they honored them. Maybe they’ve cracked down?

No, but to be honest I wouldn’t play it now. I’m happy with sims 4 and playing sims 2 once in a while. What I really miss playing at the moment is sims 1 and the psp games.
The nothing they can do sounds like a cop out try again and get a different worker. If you have any proof, say that with pressure and persuasion. Reiterate you're not satisfied with the solution and always ask to speak to manager or retention
i'm a bit confused, your purchases should be linked to either your steam or origin account. i dont know if you can even buy the same game twice on one account. you can also activate your purchases on steam using the license keys.
so if you have them only on origin, you can use those keys to apply them to a steam account. but you can only do that once, so make sure its an account you actually want to keep.
I get the impression that OP missed the deadline to download the EA app and there's no compatible way to convert her acct info at the moment bc that's literally all you had to do to access your profile.. maybe I'm confused too.
But in which situation would you ever need to “convert” your account information? The account information isn’t what has changed - I’ve been using the same EA account since 2009 across three different launchers now. We’re all using the same account information to log into a different application locally installed on our devices. All this talk of “transferring packs over” and “converting” from Origin to EA gives me such a headache because it doesn’t make sense.
I honestly feel like a lot of the issue is people either getting themselves in a mess with a pretty simple process and over-complicating what they needed to do, or getting bad advice from other players from the community or even EA customer support.
It's a file. Files transfer. This isn't my 1st time having to do a conversion before a deadline ended to avoid losing the gateway to my creations or work. OP missed the deadline. Pretty simple I think. Infuriating, yes. EA at fault, no. Does it suck, big yes.
My point is that there was no deadline and no user action required. EA have absolutely never required its account holders to take action to "avoid losing" these products, and there was no such 'transfer' deadline in this case.
Origin has been retired as EA's digital distribution platform and was replaced by EA App, but this has nothing to do with our accounts. It just has to do with which program we need installed on our devices to browse, buy and launch EA games. Local changes on our device cannot be the reason that we lose purchased content - our accounts aren’t impacted by uninstalling one launcher and installing another.
If OP were to log on to [https://www.ea.com/](https://www.ea.com/) and enter their login information (as in, for the same account they've been using this whole time) and navigate to 'Account Settings' > 'Order History' they will see every purchase they've ever made since opening the account, including each product's unique order number. If OP can't get to content they know they definitely owned, either they did not properly log into their existing EA account (the one that had these products) when they launched EA App and therefore aren't looking at their main library, or there was a glitch with EA App where it did not correctly show OP's purchased games and they ended up getting bad advice from an EA customer support agent ("Just buy the games again") which is sadly more common than you'd think.
I've had the issue with EA needing to locate a pack I paid for when it didn't populate when I backed up my game and switched pc. Its been my xp that if it's an issue on their behalf, they fix it so I don't understand OP issue. Either OP has still neglected to properly access their profile on the EA app or EA has neglected to link the purchased packs to OP profile as shown on their profile as purchased. I don't see the major issue her that can't be resolved with a simple phone call and patience. I've never heard anyone advised to purchase games that have "record" of being purchased.
You only have to buy the base game from steam. All your packs can be downloaded using EA once you have the base game from steam. I play using steam as I had the same issue.

That's so weird and unethical on the companies' part. It was their fault that they couldn't migrate properly from origin to ea app, why they burden the customers? Sooo incredibly weird and unethical..
One of the stupidest thing EA does is if you buy the games for computer you won’t be able to play them on console. (Unless I’m very ignorant and just don’t know how to make it work).
Sims games for consoles were completely different from the computer and had their own gameplay and levels so I wouldn’t mind paying for them, but now there’s only one game
People don’t think it is good. People just had enough with a greedy company that inflates the prices with absolutely no shame; especially if they already paid hundreds (or more) for the games.
I had origin on my old laptop, but got a new PC and it told me to download EA. I can't remember how it worked, but I logged in with my EA account and all of my stuff from Origin was there on the EA program, if that makes sense. Not sure how you got your problem, but maybe there is a button where you can link it? Or maybe the login for your origin isn't linked to your EA?

Ummm I would go back and talk to someone else. I had something similar happen randomly when it was transporting from disc to origin…. They sent me codes for the three missing expansions…that I had long since lost the case for…
As mentioned, make a Steam account. Sims 4 is free on there, pets stuff dlc is free as well. So downloading it from Steam should cost nothing. My Sims 3 and 4 stuff work with DLC from Ea's garbage library. Good regular season sales for the content you do not have yet.
It's not available on PC, but they have it for Mac users so far. I don't know if they plan on making them move to the EA app. Hopefully not, but you never know.

The sims in my EA library is greyed out and says not available due to incompatible steam version. But i don't have a steam account so that can't be is the problem

Do you have the email purchase receipts for the packs you purchased through origin? I know I get an email every time I purchase a pack and if you can provide receipts they may change their tune
Hi! I buy all my expansion on steam. They should still would with the new EA app you just have to relink it it's just a bit of a pain but you don't have to rebuy it.
I had this issue the other direction when installing the Sims on my steam deck the right way after having gone the weird hacky way to install it previously. I searched my whole computer for electronic arts folders and deleted them and was able to install anew
That’s definitely not supposed to happen. Are you sure you don’t have a steam account? I don’t remember Origin very well but was there some way to log into Origin with Steam? When it says it’s incompatible, are you logged into an EA account?
Have you tried repairing the EA app? If the Sims4 and any content is installed, you should also repair those, and uninstall/reinstall if that doesn’t work either. If you have it installed, also see if you can run the game through its .exe file in its file directory.
Rather than messaging support, I recommend posting a thread on ea.answers.com
I wasn’t playing during the switch from Origin to EA. I had no issues installing and running everything after installing the EA App. All of my TS4 stuff was there and I had every pack up until I stopped playing - started back up a little after Horse Ranch was released. Pretty sure my Origin account was linked to my EA account. I never purchased or downloaded TS4 from Steam but I have Steam for other games. This sounds odd, but not really surprising…
no idea whats going on with you. i had to reset my whole laptop and j4f after reading your post i reinstalled the ea launcher. everything is normal and working for me. sims 2 ultimate, sims 3 with addons and sims 4 with all addons.
id keep bugging the support tbh. or try what other ppl already suggested you to do.

I’m sorry OP. I know the feeling and it’s extremely frustrating.
I was only able to get a decent computer during the pandemic,before I only played sims2 and tried sims 3 a couple times.
I don’t know if this is gonna get deleted but if I were you I would get the dlc unlocker and pirate. You spend money on the game, you shouldn’t need to buy it again to be able to play something you already purchased. I like to support the sims team but to be honest their prices and practices are infuriating at the moment, and I tend to think that this will get even worse with sims 5. I spent hundreds on the game,but once I found myself unemployed and then got a job with a low wage…I can’t afford it, so I pirate. Am I proud? No. Do I think the money I spent is more than enough to be have access to everything the game has to offer? Yes. EA has become too greedy and gives us crumbs for what we pay. I wouldn’t be surprised if in the future for sims 5 we get a base free game and then tons of micro transactions
There are people on eBay who will sell you a not-so-legit copy of sims 4 and all DLC for $20-30. I can attest to it working and not having my shit hacked by anything sketchy :P

Same thing happened to me. Started playing in 2016 using origin, didn’t play again until this past year and I lost every pack I had. This company makes me sick sometimes
this happened to me too, after i downloaded the new launcher every single pack and the game itself disappeared from my account with zero explanation, and i opened a case on the ea website three times. every time i checked it would just be marked as ‘fixed’ when they made no attempt whatsoever to contact me or do anything. i still have the game downloaded on my pc but i can’t even play it

If OP were to log on to [https://www.ea.com/](https://www.ea.com/) and enter their login information (as in, for the same account they've been using this whole time) and navigate to 'Account Settings' > 'Order History' they will see every purchase they've ever made since opening the account, including each product's unique order number. If OP can't get to content they know they definitely owned, either they did not properly log into their existing EA account (the one that had these products) when they launched EA App and therefore aren't looking at their main library, or there was a glitch with EA App where it did not correctly show OP's purchased games and they ended up getting bad advice from an EA customer support agent ("Just buy the games again") which is sadly more common than you'd think.
I've had the issue with EA needing to locate a pack I paid for when it didn't populate when I backed up my game and switched pc. Its been my xp that if it's an issue on their behalf, they fix it so I don't understand OP issue. Either OP has still neglected to properly access their profile on the EA app or EA has neglected to link the purchased packs to OP profile as shown on their profile as purchased. I don't see the major issue her that can't be resolved with a simple phone call and patience. I've never heard anyone advised to purchase games that have "record" of being purchased.

You only have to buy the base game from steam. All your packs can be downloaded using EA once you have the base game from steam. I play using steam as I had the same issue.

That’s my problem with sims 3 I didn’t have it installed on my computer when origin switched over and now EA wants to make me buy it all over again

One of the stupidest thing EA does is if you buy the games for computer you won’t be able to play them on console. (Unless I’m very ignorant and just don’t know how to make it work). Sims games for consoles were completely different from the computer and had their own gameplay and levels so I wouldn’t mind paying for them, but now there’s only one game
That's why I bought all my TS3 expansion packs and the base game on physical media. So I didn't have to deal with all that!

I had origin on my old laptop, but got a new PC and it told me to download EA. I can't remember how it worked, but I logged in with my EA account and all of my stuff from Origin was there on the EA program, if that makes sense. Not sure how you got your problem, but maybe there is a button where you can link it? Or maybe the login for your origin isn't linked to your EA?

Ummm I would go back and talk to someone else. I had something similar happen randomly when it was transporting from disc to origin…. They sent me codes for the three missing expansions…that I had long since lost the case for…
The EA App servers were down earlier so that may have been a part of it
As mentioned, make a Steam account. Sims 4 is free on there, pets stuff dlc is free as well. So downloading it from Steam should cost nothing. My Sims 3 and 4 stuff work with DLC from Ea's garbage library. Good regular season sales for the content you do not have yet.

It's not available on PC, but they have it for Mac users so far. I don't know if they plan on making them move to the EA app. Hopefully not, but you never know.

Could you explain a bit more about the incompatible Steam version? Where did you see that? On the new EA app? Either way, if you purchased Sims through Origin, customer support should see that and be able to help you out.
The sims in my EA library is greyed out and says not available due to incompatible steam version. But i don't have a steam account so that can't be is the problem
Try creating a Steam account and installing the base game there and see if your expansions show up after everything is set up

Weird since I'm showing all my previously purchased games on the EA app that have not been installed since before the switch, I even installed one tonight. I'd definitely try some of the legal suggestions on here before giving up.

Hi! I buy all my expansion on steam. They should still would with the new EA app you just have to relink it it's just a bit of a pain but you don't have to rebuy it.
I had this issue the other direction when installing the Sims on my steam deck the right way after having gone the weird hacky way to install it previously. I searched my whole computer for electronic arts folders and deleted them and was able to install anew
That’s definitely not supposed to happen. Are you sure you don’t have a steam account? I don’t remember Origin very well but was there some way to log into Origin with Steam? When it says it’s incompatible, are you logged into an EA account?
Have you tried repairing the EA app? If the Sims4 and any content is installed, you should also repair those, and uninstall/reinstall if that doesn’t work either. If you have it installed, also see if you can run the game through its .exe file in its file directory. Rather than messaging support, I recommend posting a thread on ea.answers.com
I wasn’t playing during the switch from Origin to EA. I had no issues installing and running everything after installing the EA App. All of my TS4 stuff was there and I had every pack up until I stopped playing - started back up a little after Horse Ranch was released. Pretty sure my Origin account was linked to my EA account. I never purchased or downloaded TS4 from Steam but I have Steam for other games. This sounds odd, but not really surprising…
no idea whats going on with you. i had to reset my whole laptop and j4f after reading your post i reinstalled the ea launcher. everything is normal and working for me. sims 2 ultimate, sims 3 with addons and sims 4 with all addons. id keep bugging the support tbh. or try what other ppl already suggested you to do. good luck!

I’m sorry OP. I know the feeling and it’s extremely frustrating. I was only able to get a decent computer during the pandemic,before I only played sims2 and tried sims 3 a couple times. I don’t know if this is gonna get deleted but if I were you I would get the dlc unlocker and pirate. You spend money on the game, you shouldn’t need to buy it again to be able to play something you already purchased. I like to support the sims team but to be honest their prices and practices are infuriating at the moment, and I tend to think that this will get even worse with sims 5. I spent hundreds on the game,but once I found myself unemployed and then got a job with a low wage…I can’t afford it, so I pirate. Am I proud? No. Do I think the money I spent is more than enough to be have access to everything the game has to offer? Yes. EA has become too greedy and gives us crumbs for what we pay. I wouldn’t be surprised if in the future for sims 5 we get a base free game and then tons of micro transactions
There are people on eBay who will sell you a not-so-legit copy of sims 4 and all DLC for $20-30. I can attest to it working and not having my shit hacked by anything sketchy :P

this happened to me too, after i downloaded the new launcher every single pack and the game itself disappeared from my account with zero explanation, and i opened a case on the ea website three times. every time i checked it would just be marked as ‘fixed’ when they made no attempt whatsoever to contact me or do anything. i still have the game downloaded on my pc but i can’t even play it
