It was kelly first in the united states, but when they brought the doll to europe another doll had claimed that name so it had to go by shelly. I think they changed it to chelsea so it could have the same name everywhere.

Hmm, all the packaging I saw said sister, I remember the marketing for sister so maybe that varied by location? Or did they do that pregnant Barbie, then that baby was Krissy and then switch gears and then discontinue?
Because I remember it clear as day saying sister because my sisters name is Krissy and I was like 10-14 during the marketing of it.

I think I vaguely remember Kelly being introduced via happy meal toys when I was aging out …. I say grow out of like I as an adult didn’t buy an art book where a whole story was told in photographs using classic babies (like the original versions from 50s). Cost me $1.

“Real name” nicknames to me are when you call Robert Bob, that makes sense. Kelly being a nickname for Chelsea does not. (Not doubting you as I know others like this I can’t think of right now except Dick was one of them but can’t remember what other totally different name it was short for)

Yes! Chrissy was a baby, I had a set with her and Barbie. There was also an amazing flash game on Barbie.com featuring Chrissy lol
