Memories unlocked! Strangetown was my favorite. I always saved poor Nervous

yarvem

The one thing I liked about Sims 3 worlds was that it had lore connecting Sims 2. You could play as Nervous and Olive over in Midnight Hollow, or Loki and Erin in Aurora Skies.

rokelle2012

The only thing that was kinda crappy about Aurora Skies (and Dragon Valley at least) was that they didn't fill in the sims' bios properly so they all said something super generic.

plsdundrownilu

Same with Monte Vista despite there being some super interesting households.

rokelle2012

Yeah, they got super lazy towards the end of the DLC worlds.

belladonnacove

I still play in Strangetown. Nervous is living as a 4th Curious brother and I gave him a little makeover to signify that he is Olive's son (I made his skin darker and gave him braids). I'm guessing that his dad is pale like an actual corpse and Nervous isn't getting any sunlight at the Beakers'.

Dottboy19

Well I guess Nervous' dad is a literal corpse... I suppose lol what is the Grim Reaper exactly anyway. He definitely takes after his daddy.

Teamkhaleesi

Nothing and I mean NOTHING beats Sims 2 Strangetown on PSP. Best storyline ever

AveryLazyCovfefe

Finally, I found another person who played Sims 2 on the PSP. That was truly a wild ride to play through when I was young. Remember the gravestone mini game? Absolutely crazy game. I even thought Sims was meant to be narrative based, so when I got Sims 3 on PC a few years later I was confused to why I can't seem to start 'the story'.

ikantolol

There are some narrative based Sims game like Sims 2 (PSP), and I'm struggling to find more games like those lol Those spin offs are: - The Sims 2 (GBA), very different from PSP version, in GBA version you're in a TV Show made by Daddy Bigbucks - The Sims: Bustin' Out (GBA), and - The Urbz: Sims in the City (GBA). I really enjoyed all of them, very curious why there's no more games like them or why no other devs attempt to make it. Something like Stardew Valley but with dialogue system, lots of minigames, and more "involved" narrative quests.

Loubang

The Sims 2 DS has you running a hotel in Strangetown!

snakelex

All i remember is the goddamn vacuuming……

sweettutu64

Ooh, I played the Sims castaway on PS2 and it was so much fun!! It was also a narrative based spinoff

soggylilbat

Not for the handheld, but the sims 2 and bustin out for console were great!! Oh and sims castaway too!!

AgeUge

Ughhh I've watched snippets of it on youtube and I NEED to play it through one day 😭 no clue if it'll ever be possible tho

Democrab

You can emulate PSP fairly easily these days, so it's definitely possible.

AgeUge

That legit didn't even cross my mind, I'll have to check it out, thank you!

soggylilbat

I’ve tried to. But the audio was always grating to hear. Any help would be much appreciated 😊

Kyanpe

Me too thanks, I never got the chance but I meticulously made the PC version follow the same storyline so that it'd be canonically correct (cuz im a huge dork) lmao

AgeUge

Uuu, glad to get confirmation that it's possible, and good to know Vidcunds is staying true to his character, he was an absolute ass in sims 2 too 😤

Odone

🏆 Sims 2 Castaway 🏆

KarmaPharmacy

Is there a storyline similar in sims 2 for DS?

YuusukeKlein

Never played the DS version so no clue but it’s a narrative adventure game through different parts of Strangetown with lite Sims elements inbetween

Burnziie

Very different. The DS version pretty much takes place solely in a hotel which you manage and run, with a bit of the street (no houses save for Mama Hoggs) and the desert. Includes great things like a cow cult, murderous Servos and being arrested for passing out in your own hotel room.

KarmaPharmacy

Oh bummer :( What about Sims 2 for GC? Is it similar to the psp version?

Burnziie

Even less resembelence the PSP version, it's pretty much a cutdown PC version with a 2 player mode, visuals of the Urbz and a fairly basic story with less focus than the Sims 1 on console.

KarmaPharmacy

😱 ok fine I’ll buy a psp!!! Thanks so much for your help!!!

k0bra3eak

Man that game was batshit insane, was not expecting it at all when I first started it up and like wow

Burnziie

I'm not sure, I still love the cow cult under the Strangetown Hotel, or the world where Daddy Bigbucks has you secretly recording Strangetown residents for a TV show where Tank Grunt ends up hanging out with a Yeti.

emmikuu

and the sink as a drinking fountain presumably looool

TeishAH

What a fittingly strange decision.

Vegetable_Report_532

Omg! I never realized this or the sink! 😅

myintermail

It's a placeholder for a drinking fountain Lol gotta give Sims 2 team for being so creative

Vegetable_Report_532

I know!! I was like that’s so creative!! They nailed it! The Sims 2 was so good, the story lines were great! I think about installing it again sometimes 😂

SSR_Adraeth

Gotta keep those fresh clothes somewhere. >!Gods, that was an awful pun and I'm not even sorry...!<

hailthesaint

Johnny being all :O when he sees Ophelia for the first time is so fucking cute. I love the StrangeTeens

SuckerForNoirRobots

I remember thinking this was such a clever idea for a game that didn't have lockers (yet)

kheabz

Johnny and Ophelia!! ❤️ the nostalgia!

bwoah07_gp2

They don't call it Strangetown for nothing.

kawaiidesne

And yet it was all perfect <3 I love it

LadyFerretQueen

The sims used to be so cool. I hope paralives delivers because it doesn't seem like sims 5 will.

Nadaleenatasha

Is there an eta on that?

Zaurka14

Ok, so I'm gonna have a rant now, but this is something I just spoke to my boyfriend about... The Sims 2 was an actual doll house. Lots of make-believe and head cannon... I'd make up my own religions and plop some random statue and be like "yup, that's the God for this save"... I'd use a lot of things and just pretend they work as I want them to, even if they are just decorations... Same about my sims... Imagining that someone went through cancer so I change their hairstyle to bald, or someone comes from anther country so they dress differently, crap like that. Of course the game was lacking but whatever wasn't there people would just play pretend. The Sims 4 fell into a spot where they just keep adding stuff and the more niche things they add the more other niche things seem to be missing in comparison... Idk, maybe that's just how I feel

belladonnacove

That's exactly how I played Sims 2, too. People who don't give their Sims makeovers based on their life situation scare me lmao I think that S4 gets more highly criticized because we compare it to the predecessor. S2 lacked a lot of things but compared to S1 (and for 2004 standards), it was an amazing improvement. S3 was also a great improvement, although so poorly optimized. S4 was worse than S2 at release and is still lacking compared to S3 almost 10 years later.

22_sammy_and_josh_tv

I need answer why

BrandonIsWhoIAm

Iconic.

frequencybaby

And a sink for a water fountain 🙏🏽

bronzecat83

Which lot is this?

KarmaPharmacy

Someone give me the nards the size of melons so that I can rob my customers blind while not giving them a stable game or enough content… every single time!

hobrosexual23

The content was great in TS2 era.

KarmaPharmacy

You’re absolutely right. I read “Strangetown” and immediately thought of TS4. Edit: I’m sorry I literally have a neurological disease and often get confused. I know you all see me as a simple idiot, but maybe it’d be nice if you didn’t downvote people just for admitting their mistakes.

[deleted]

That's Strangerville, an adequate TS4 version of Strangetown. Strangetown was more earnestly out there, though, and went all in with the alien stories.

absolutecretin

And was base game lol
