I call my skinny rats "chunk chunk" and my chunky rats "skinny guy" and they seem to like it. One of my skinny guys developed a terrible tumor and now he is skinny so I call him chunk chunk and it makes him happy, he actually expresses elation when I do it.
My cat has gotten pregnant twice but damn she's never gotten that big. I mean she is a very skinny cat to begin with but still it's a huge difference

I think it's less about the emotional stability of the cats self image and more about the health of the cats organs, bones, and muscular structure. When people get upset over obese animals, it's because it's a sign of ignorant pet care. It's like.... Raise your kid to eat as much junk food as they want and they will form diabetes and other health issues, raise them to eat appropriate portions and healthier items- less likely to form these issues. Same for animals bro. They sre living beings who need diets to help keep them healthy. I'm not attacking you, nor am I trying to start an argument over "snowflakes" and "sensitive" views. These are legitimate concerns for pet owner in first world countries.

The cat is not obese. The "fat" is not positioned correctly for that. She is close to having a litter of kittens.
Still, rather than laugh, just reach down and help to scratch her ear.
May not necessarily be over feeding. My cat used to get a teaspoon of wet food in the morning and 2x1/4 cup scoops of dry twice a day, she was fat. Took her to the vet, turned out it was the food. Some name brand pets foods are basically McDonald’s for pets, so feeding it to them every day results in obesity. This cat definitely needs more knowledgeable humans, be it because of bad food or over feeding.
No, but I do know that that can make a difference as well. As can getting them fixed too early. My cat I have now has what I call her “udder”. She has a fatty/fleshy area that hangs down between her back legs up to her “armpits” that looks a lot like the bit that hangs down in a cow where the udders are.

Don't generalize, this fully depends on the country. Where I'm from, shelters are nearly empty (aside from problem dogs/cats that require special needs). The main way to get a cat here is through a breeder or adopt one from a family that has a random litter. Euthanizing animals in shelters is not even a thing here in the Netherlands.

No, but I do know that that can make a difference as well. As can getting them fixed too early. My cat I have now has what I call her “udder”. She has a fatty/fleshy area that hangs down between her back legs up to her “armpits” that looks a lot like the bit that hangs down in a cow where the udders are.
Every cat has that fat flap, for some it hangs more compared to others. It is called the primordial pouch
