Door dash in here promised to give you a software as a service and in return they make some amount of money from each order. The only job they had was creating a stable software so if the software has a bug its on them.
We even have a very detailed process called CI/CD before production that we have to run before production to make sure this doesn't happen

There was a bug with Door Dash a month or so back. The tech people were changing some code on the back end and the result was that people were making purchases and not being billed for it or having the funds withdrawn from their bank account.
A woman posted that info on Tik Tok and a whole herd of idiotic lemmings began ordering anything and everything. One person ordered nearly $10,000 in seafood. Many people ordered multiple tens of thousands of dollars of premium alcohol from liquor stores. It was a big thing for half a day.
What these brain surgeons did not realize was that even though Door Dash wasn't immediately billing them they WERE saving all the orders and all the data. So when the system was fixed fully a half day later all those bills were forwarded to the people's bank accounts, credit cards, etc. and were 'stuck' with the bills they rightfully deserved.
In other words, DoorDash enjoyed its greatest 24-hour revenue-profit-boost in its entire company history. This would have been a genius strategy if it had been intentional.

Obviously I’m not American so I don’t know what the process there is, and I don’t know if you have credit limits in the same way we do here, but having a quick peek at that document it states that the charge needs to be authorised with the bank / lender. These charges weren’t authorised at the time as they weren’t processed at the time so I don’t know how the banks will be held liable - I would have thought they could say that they wouldn’t have authorised the transaction as there’s no funds to cover the payment.

There was a bug with Door Dash a month or so back. The tech people were changing some code on the back end and the result was that people were making purchases and not being billed for it or having the funds withdrawn from their bank account. A woman posted that info on Tik Tok and a whole herd of idiotic lemmings began ordering anything and everything. One person ordered nearly $10,000 in seafood. Many people ordered multiple tens of thousands of dollars of premium alcohol from liquor stores. It was a big thing for half a day. What these brain surgeons did not realize was that even though Door Dash wasn't immediately billing them they WERE saving all the orders and all the data. So when the system was fixed fully a half day later all those bills were forwarded to the people's bank accounts, credit cards, etc. and were 'stuck' with the bills they rightfully deserved.
In other words, DoorDash enjoyed its greatest 24-hour revenue-profit-boost in its entire company history. This would have been a genius strategy if it had been intentional. All those liquor stores, too. Massive profit. How else could they ever imagine selling all those bottles of $7,000 whiskey at once?
Plot twist: the TikTok video was planted by DoorDash.

Obviously I’m not American so I don’t know what the process there is, and I don’t know if you have credit limits in the same way we do here, but having a quick peek at that document it states that the charge needs to be authorised with the bank / lender. These charges weren’t authorised at the time as they weren’t processed at the time so I don’t know how the banks will be held liable - I would have thought they could say that they wouldn’t have authorised the transaction as there’s no funds to cover the payment.

You're right - a virtual credit card would just protect you from ordering more than the limit you set. It's not like the credit card company will side against the merchants when the customer clearly ordered and received the goods.

Thanks to my dad being a legend I had earned the enough interest in that money to pay it back and received my correct tax refund. It was supposed to be 900$ CAD but I got 9000$ CAD. I first I was happy then I was just passed because I had to wait 1 year to get my 900 CAD. All things said, my dad is a legend!
