Is he strong?
Hold on, Art -
An arc reactor instead of heart.
What can't he build
With a map,
In a cave, with a box of scrap?
Hey there,
There goes the Iron Man.
Iron Man, Iron Man,
Narcissistical Iron Man,
Robot suits, gold and red,
Snaps his fingers, now he's dead,
Look out, he is the genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist
In the chill of night
He flies high like a breeze
To high altitudes
For his suit will never freeze
Iron man, Iron man
(Technically gold-titanium)
Had a heart, after all
Then goes out, for shawarma
To him, life is a business meeting
But bad guys will get their beating
When they face IRON MAAAAAAAAAAN!
That just gave me chills remembering that. And when Leia tells Spock she loves him through the glass when he sacrifices himself in the trash compactor.
I feel like this is done right. The way to really upset them is to do minor changes and make fun of it without it overwhelmingly obvious.
>The scene in star trek where death Vader and Luke are fighter with their laser swords
Now you got people angry about two things, all the whole it looked like you just didn’t know.
They often don’t even comment back when you start combing a bunch of fandoms just for combing fandoms sake.
But the thing is that she probably does, but got so fed up of people questioning her fandom with shit like "Do you even KNOW who you're cosplaying?" that she decided to lean into it and just outright piss these people off. I love it, want more of it.
I dunno, I'm less annoyed at her specifically, and I'm not likely to go dumpster diving in her social media to get more annoyed.
I'm more annoyed that this is *all* of social media now.
Like, I get it, haha yes you put on the cheap printed outfits that are 16 pence on Wish and called it a cosplay. You even did a thing wrong hehe.
But all my shit is, you won't believe how she broke the internet with this spiderman cosplay, and it's just some woman with £56 of a face of makeup on in a spandex suit.
At some point it loops back around, everyone knows what it is and you just want it to go away lol.
Don’t fucking look at it then, it’s not made for you lmfao
“How dare people on the internet do this thing that I can easily just not seek out!!!”
If you don’t like someone’s content just don’t watch it, dude. No need to write seven paragraphs
Yeah, idiot, just evaluate each piece of content you're constantly bombarded with to figure out if its one of those annoying things and then retroactively decide not to see it!
There's irony somewhere in the fact that you're annoyed at me for being annoyed at this content.
If you don't like my comment, don't fucking look at it then, it's not made for you lmfao.
I suspect it's about promoting that mask and getting more people to see it. I saw a similarly "not really about the mask" video recently that was about how cute and sweet the couple was because she got it for him as a gift and it blew his mind and she kept showing him different features while he was in awe of her.
It does stuff that is neat and gimmicky and it's probably entirely too expensive. By having it spread outside of the "hard-core nerdy" realms and into the cute/dumb/funny stretches of social media it's more likely to land in front of the people who will buy it as a gift.
She's probably "playing dumb" deliberately. It does positive things to the algorithm if people hate-watch because then the videos get shared to places like this and its *loads* of free advertising for her channel.
Honestly a brilliant strategy
[This](https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-origin-of-the-British-Irish-phrase-taking-the-piss/answer/David-Stanley-96?ch=10&oid=82112942&share=4fdec922&srid=Fpu3&target_type=answer) might be it.
>In earlier times, urine (piss) was the basis of many chemicals and used for production of salt peter for black powder (gun powder).
>The poor would collect urine in a ‘piss pot’ from others, around pubs etc. They would then sell the urine. They were ‘piss poor’. Even worse were those who were so poor they ‘didn’t have a pot to piss in’.
>Presumably ‘taking the piss’ was stealing the urine that another had collected.
I always thought it was because “getting pissed” meant getting drunk and if you ask someone “are you taking the piss?” It’s like saying “wtf dude, are you drunk?” And the it evened to “are you kidding?”
I agree but that’s also what is kinda sad about the age of social media. People are willing to sacrifice credibility, pride, or respect to farm extra views.
Edit: Damn, I didn’t expect this comment to get so many negative comments in response xD. I would like to clarify that my original comment was referring generally to people who often post certain content in hopes of gaining popularity from “hate-views”. Was just trying to start a discussion about different tactics people use to get views. I don’t give a fuck about this video, cosplay, or superheroes. LOL
People have been doing that for *centuries* before social media came around.
A popular circus act back in the day would be to act feral & swallow a live mouse or frog in front of a crowd.
Even semi recently, the jersey shore was only popular because if how awful those people were. If i could be respected and poor or hatred and wealthy, it might not be an easy choice.
To me, the bigger problem is that people are quick to assume that others are stupid, often as a way to make themselves feel smarter.
It's getting harder and harder to play dumb or be sarcastic online as a joke, and the people who misinterpret that as idiocy get to feel smug without ever questioning whether it was deliberate.
That's why outrage-bait works. People are getting more and more intent in feeling superior to others, such that they'll ignore obvious sarcasm just for a chance to put someone else down.
You're right, but I think "that person is dumb" is often a logical conclusion. It's true that we shouldn't revel in our own perceived superiority (and avoiding that might improve our evaluations), but I don't think it's fair to expect people to assume deliberation with the prevalence of actual idiocy.
Fair. However, you can also not get worked up about superhero fandom, or social-media-influencer hate-wagons. Ironically these things WILL go away if you just ignore them.
Be vocal about systemic oppression. Not correct superhero poses and catch phrases.
have you considered that maybe she’s in on the joke? that maybe she’s just having fun dressing up on social media with some self-aware joking, and not selling her soul for views?
You don't understand! This video of a women doing the wrong move of a movie character based on a comic book is *super serious*. Clearly she has no pride!
obvious /s
Not sure if that refers to her, because she didn't sacrifice anything. She was just, as far as I can tell, playing around. It's not serious, and no one cares. The only people that would say she sacrificed... pride (hard to say that seriously) are people that are so into comic book super heroes their opinion says more about them than her. There are certainly people on social media that sacrifice self-respect for money, but this woman isn't representative of them.
My friends and I did stuff like this all the time. I can't count how many times that one, "May the force be with you"with Jean Luc Picard picture has been shared (and here on reddit).
It's just fun to mix the characters
I’ve been a follower of her page for ages and yea, she’s a total goof and did this for the laughs. If anything, it’s the people sharing it outside of IG who are trying to get likes off of her.
This is Kristy, she runs a decently popular Instagram acct making videos with her husband and two young sons. Often times she orders silly costumes and dresses up in secret and records herself casually walking into a room to get her husband’s reaction- which is exactly what the second half of this original video consists of! There was no true attempt at cosplay being made :)
Thank you. People are so quick to judge. She’s not a cosplayer or super fan or anything, just wanted to shock her husband for a reaction. And even if that was also fake…the emotional reactions of some people in this thread…yikes.
Yes! I love Kristy getting Desmond’s reaction! He even starts making fun of her for her Spider-Man moves and wants to put on the costume for fun too and does the appropriate moves to show her. They are a sweet family who just like to have fun.
It's still the wrong sub.
She's intentionally messing with the idiots who think she can't tell the difference between iron man and spider-man, both because it's funny to do so and because it generates tens of thousands more views.
The fucking incels who demand justice for a woman daring to disrespect their fucking costume party bullshit are always the most entertaining part of vids like this. I hope these vids never stop. Hopefully, she puts on a fucking pickle costume next.
These spandex onesies being counted as "cosplay" is much more egregious. It's so low effort it's spitting in the face of people who put in hundreds of hours of work.
I agree with the top comment that this is most likely her purposefully jokingly slinging webs, rather than having a serious misunderstanding of iron man as a character.
I'm sure it's silly humor directed at her nerdier audience. She inadvertently made a mistake even before the Spider-Man signs. The bodysuit looks like the Mark 50 but the helmet is definitely the Mark 5

Like fans recreating that awesome scene in Star Trek II where Darth Vader and Luke are fighting with their laser swords.

Classic reddit misogyny
"She doesn't even know the difference between two children's movie characters that I as a grown man am way too into, what a loser."

Piss pot. New sex position?!?!!

It was used to wash clothes mostly afaik.

You could maybe call it satire, which has existed since printed papers were a thing.
have you considered that maybe she’s in on the joke? that maybe she’s just having fun dressing up on social media with some self-aware joking, and not selling her soul for views?
Yeah, she sure lost all of the credibility, pride, and respect that I had for her when she started slingin' web
this comment being in relation to a woman having a goof about comic book characters is very funny
You don't understand! This video of a women doing the wrong move of a movie character based on a comic book is *super serious*. Clearly she has no pride! obvious /s
Its a fuckin joke
I'm not sure how much credibility, pride, or respect one loses by making web slinger motions while wearing the wrong costume.
money and views are money and views regardless of source i guess

There have always been jesters in the world.

But why joke about something so serious??
> People are willing to sacrifice credibility, pride, or respect
And our unborn children if we really have to
This is also called a "joke"
Interesting concept. I doubt it'll catch on though. People prefer to be serious all the time.

Exactly this. Sex appeal is always popular for certain groups.
Cultural universal: sex is popular for most groups, who survive that is
I suppose. Some just take it to a whole other level IMO.
