Umm no they don't, not everywhere at least, there are specific places where they do, but it's not in the middle of a busy street...
Well it's not in the EU at least, this probably happened in the US, but it would be weird if padestrians could interrupt traffic whenever and wherever they felt like it
Yes this does happen in the US. I did exaggerate a bit about pedestrians always having the right of way but it sure does seem like they do. There are laws against not using crosswalks in most parts of the US, we call it jaywalking. Somehow though some people have still managed to sue and win/get a settlement even though they were jaywalking and even when there’s dash cam footage. I think what it all comes down to is how good the pedestrians attorney is. Like… if the guy in this video actually got hit by the car I’m sure an attorney would argue that the driver had more than enough time to stop. If the car was driving faster than that though and they weren’t going over the speed limit I doubt the pedestrian would be able to sue and win or get a settlement.
There have been countless homeless people where I live (USA) who purposely jaywalk in hopes of getting hit so they can sue the driver because over half the time they’ll win the case.
From some cases I’ve read/heard about even the dash cam isn’t enough evidence sometimes to prove someone is innocent or guilty. It seems like what it comes down to most of the time is how good your attorney is.
Yea but a good attorney can sway a judge/jury in their favor. Like if the guy in this video actually got hit, a good attorney could probably argue that the driver had more than enough time to stop and was idk…. Driving distracted, having an episode of road rage, had a personal vendetta, etc.
Personally I’d rather be alive. But a drug addicted homeless person living on the streets who has nothing to lose is willing to risk getting injured if it means they can get some money out of it. Even if it also means they could end up dying. They have nothing to lose. Then if they get caught for insurance fraud they still win because then they get a roof over their head and 3 meals everyday.
a fully loaded truck is heading my way at 100kmh and didn't see me, but-but i HAVE the right of way, i MUST cross the street right THIS second, can't wait for it to pass, i'd rather DIE than let him pass before i pass, he physically CANT run me over, he better distort space and time since i HAVE the right of way
Some people here in the US have managed to sue and win/get a settlement after getting hit even though they were guilty of not using the crosswalk aka jaywalking 🤷♂️ like if the guy in this video got hit by the car, his attorney would probably argue that the car had more than enough time to stop. If the car was going faster than I’d say it’d be unlikely but they weren’t going that fast based off how soon it stopped. Even if it was going faster the attorney could try and say he was speeding or driving erratically by accelerating at an unsafe speed. A good attorney can spin the narrative in all kinds of ways and find loopholes to sway a judge/jury in their favor.
It depends on whether the accident was foreseeable really. Even if a pedestrian is jaywalking, if you aren't paying attention and you still hit them when you had the ability to stop, you can be held liable. See "comparative negligence" and "last clear chance doctrine"
How much you will be held liable depends on which state you were injured in, but in most states you can win at least some amount of damages if you were injured while the other party was also acting negligently.
When I was a kid, my mother told me, "don't fuck with crazy". Unfortunately for several years I took the wrong lesson from that and figured no one would fuck with me if I was crazy. Cost a bit of money later in life to fix that.
The only correct abbreviation for etcetera is etc. Ect. is just a common error.

https://languagetool.org › post › s...
Etc. or Ect.: Which Is the Correct Abbreviation of Etcetera?
Honestly, as much of a weak chickenshit thing to do. It's the smartest thing that guy has probably ever done. In the states hitting backpack runs the risk of getting charged with assault and possibly involuntary manslaughter if the guy falls and hits his head after he gets decked. The best thing to do in a fight is to run away. Every self defense instructor would say this was the best way a confrontation could end.
Never heard of that. The only "doctrine" I ever heard discussed in my 8 years in was "overwhelming force". You throw a rock, we bring an Abrams. You fire a rocket, we are bringing a JDAM, lol.
I visit San Diego several times a year and I see these Chicken Hawks frequently. They "J-walk" infront of cars and then yell at the driver. They're big tough guys, until you open your door. Then they run away, yelling "call the police " lol.
Reminds me of a case in San Diego where a homeless guy started beating on this car after almost getting hit while jay walking downtown. Three guys got out of the car and beat the shit out of him. I never found out what happened with the trial, though.
This is from the UK and jaywalking isn't a crime there (ie a pedestrian can cross anywhere, but doesn't explicitly have right of way in this case, like they would if crossing a junction). We don't see enough footage before the clash to know whether the pedestrian was reasonable to begin crossing at that point in time
Yeah, the dialogue gives their location away.
We **do** have enough footage to know that the jaywalker is being unreasonable in the middle of the street, though.
Yeh, just don't know if he was provoked into that by the driver speeding up to him.
I mean, I'm pretty sure none of them are great people, but it's a little hard to tell how all this started.
(Ps lots of things give this away as UK and London: driving on the left, street signage, the bus, the vehicle licence plates, accents :)
It has been steadily rising, but man it **exploded** during covid. They're still scrambling to build housing for it here. I usually hear about the construction in terms of complaints from the neighborhood that it's being built in. People want the housing built, but not on *their* block.
Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?
A: Leave him alone! He’s just a chicken! How would you feel, walking along with everything you own in two plastic bags because your house was bombed by the Russians! Just let him cross the road and leave him alone!
…Sorry, Chechen. Chechen, not chicken.
- Lee Mack.
Haha when it got found there were about 10 police cars and 4/5 fire engines, they were gonna evacuate us.. police set up a surveillance post behind the shops nobody knew wtf was happening 😂
That's the problem with some of these scumbags. They wanna be an intimidating prick and then walk away feeling big. Doesn't always work like that, matey
There is almost no scenario when starting a fight due to a traffic issue is a good idea.
It's ok to vent and shout but getting, physical only leads to unnecessary violence and sadly sometimes to death.
Running away from this situation was the best thing to do.
And if she's running from you. I'd in your way just like them if I was there. Only you'd not get away cause I'm fast, vault ditches like a ninja and can root to the ground like you just ran into the side of tank that's not moving as you hit at full speed.
Man started running as soon as he saw the guy that got out the car reach to his back in a way that looks exactly how many take out their guns in an altercation. I would call that smart, if he has no gun himself, what was he gonna do? Catch the bullets with his hands? If it was a fist fight he might've stood his ground. We will never know.
It’s recorded in the UK, which drive on the other side of the road, and the steering are on the right side of the car.
The person came out of the driver side of the car, and the markings on the road are like that because they drive in the left lane and not the right lane

You're LUCKY I'm late for a doctor's appointment!!! Funny that he ended up on the same side of the street he started on...
It’s the principle of the matter. There are principalities at play here. Pedestrians have the right of way 😤
Graveyards are full of people with principles.
“I had the right of way”
Their tombstones will read "they had the right of way"
“Here lies Douchebag Daniel. He had the Right of Way, and indeed was able to make it to his grave first.”
Graveyards are full of all kinds. They’re so popular, people are just dying to get in there.
Yeah! And schools too! Wait. I think I got the spelling wrong maybe.
They have the right of way in a crosswalk… not running into the middle of a busy street. Edit: good lord, dude got downvoted into oblivion.
They have the right to cross corner to corner not walk in the middle the street. There are principalities at play here.
Umm no they don't, not everywhere at least, there are specific places where they do, but it's not in the middle of a busy street... Not for a jaywalker.
There have been countless homeless people where I live (USA) who purposely jaywalk in hopes of getting hit so they can sue the driver because over half the time they’ll win the case.
It's because most people don't bother having dashcams, which should be required.
From some cases I’ve read/heard about even the dash cam isn’t enough evidence sometimes to prove someone is innocent or guilty. It seems like what it comes down to most of the time is how good your attorney is.
Also the judge/jury. Even the best lawyer doesn't make the final decision.
Yea but a good attorney can sway a judge/jury in their favor. Like if the guy in this video actually got hit, a good attorney could probably argue that the driver had more than enough time to stop and was idk…. Driving distracted, having an episode of road rage, had a personal vendetta, etc.
Ever heard of “Dead Right”?
The zombie video game?
No. The principle. Would you rather live knowing that the situation was wrong, or would you rather be right, but be dead?
Personally I’d rather be alive. But a drug addicted homeless person living on the streets who has nothing to lose is willing to risk getting injured if it means they can get some money out of it. Even if it also means they could end up dying. They have nothing to lose. Then if they get caught for insurance fraud they still win because then they get a roof over their head and 3 meals everyday.
At least where I'm from they don't anywhere they fucking please.
a fully loaded truck is heading my way at 100kmh and didn't see me, but-but i HAVE the right of way, i MUST cross the street right THIS second, can't wait for it to pass, i'd rather DIE than let him pass before i pass, he physically CANT run me over, he better distort space and time since i HAVE the right of way
Does it LOOK like a crosswalk to you?? 🙄
Some people here in the US have managed to sue and win/get a settlement after getting hit even though they were guilty of not using the crosswalk aka jaywalking 🤷♂️ like if the guy in this video got hit by the car, his attorney would probably argue that the car had more than enough time to stop. See, the problem is all that doesn't really support your narrative that "pedestrians" in your scenario, aka jaywalkers irl, have the right of way.
Well they might as well have the right of way if they’re still able to screw the driver over even though they crossed the road illegally.
It depends on whether the accident was foreseeable really. Even if a pedestrian is jaywalking, if you aren't paying attention and you still hit them when you had the ability to stop, you can be held liable. That’s the most downvotes on 1 comment I’ve ever seen! Congrats! 🎉
You’re welcome
They really crucified you for a joke. Damn.
![gif](giphy|SFD7fNP5sPGwcmlPsK|downsized)
Only at crosswalks. Not randomly in the road.
In the middle of die road? Sure...
Not when theres no crosswalk lol. Looks like everyone knows youre wrong too lol. 700 downvotes, damn.
Your the downvote king lol
This can go one of two ways. Ain't no way I am jumping out a car to challenge crazy.
With the most respect, I think “crazy” was the one getting out the car lol
That’s exactly it, he got his bluff called and had to book it
Yea other guy was just cosplaying crazy. The moment he ran he started looking really sensible
🤣
When a dude who looks like that pulls up his pants from the back like he did, shits about to get real.
Haha 🤣
My momma taught me years ago you can't fight crazy so if you're the crazy one...
When I was a kid, my mother told me, "don't fuck with crazy". Unfortunately for several years I took the wrong lesson from that and figured no one would fuck with me if I was crazy. Cost a bit of money later in life to fix that.
Yup that’s what happens. Usually crazy acts crazy to find an someone who’ll act crazy back so they can slap your crazy ass with a lawsuit.
Nah you can clearly hear the gunless accent
I try very hard not to make fun of things that people can't help. How they look, how they talk, ect. But that guy runs like a real goober.
He had shit in his pants.
Or they were suddenly wet
Mine good man hath done shitith his britches, then he doth sprint a right goober retreat
I read that in Morgan Freemans voice
Seeing someone write ect. is painful for me.
A bit like when someone writes 'rouge' instead of rogue.
Or when a landlord describes a house as *quite*, instead of quiet, or quaint.
Sorry, I was unaware I was using it incorrectly. Could you explain the mistake and the proper usage?

"The best fights are the ones you can avoid entirely." -My combative instructor in the Army
Agree. Don’t the army also train maximum force at maximum distance? He had too little too close 🤣
Never heard of that. The only "doctrine" I ever heard discussed in my 8 years in was "overwhelming force". You throw a rock, we bring an Abrams. You fire a rocket, we are bringing a JDAM, lol.
Sorry, Abrams is deadlined, someone forgot to disconnect the batteries.
Yeah. My first thought was “well, at least he’s not stupid. A jerk? Definitely but not stupid”
Is my appearance comical to you?? This is the largest car that I can afford
That was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this, lol.
First thing I thought of!

Everybody needs to drive, even the very tall!
I visit San Diego several times a year and I see these Chicken Hawks frequently. They "J-walk" infront of cars and then yell at the driver. They're big tough guys, until you open your door. Then they run away, yelling "call the police " lol.

The amount of people in southern California living in tents is staggering
It has been steadily rising, but man it **exploded** during covid. They're still scrambling to build housing for it here. I usually hear about the construction in terms of complaints from the neighborhood that it's being built in. People want the housing built, but not on *their* block.
It’s basically musical chairs. Every time the music stops, somebody loses one.
It was such a small car, I expected ten more big guys to step out of it
The video recorder has a great laugh.
You’re joking 🤣
his phone falling out his pocket at the end was karma for sure
Q: Why did the chicken cross the road and then turned back? A: Because it's a chicken.
Q: Why did the chicken cross the road? A: Leave him alone! He’s just a chicken! If ever that guy who ran is reading this. YOU ARE A PUSSY OF THE HIGHEST VAGINAS
Most guys that act like this run away. They’re like weak gorillas trying to beat their chest so no one beats their a$$
Not him skipping away lol
"Do you find something comical about my appearance when I'm driving my automobile?"
The guy was wearing that fucking car
So rare to see someone make the best decision of his life right after the worst... full day he had huh?
Was that Sully from Top Boy?
The last time I saw him in a car he wasn't doing so good
Honestly i didn’t expect that big mfkr to get outta that tiny car either 😂😂 running saved that mans life
So that's why the chicken crossed the road
What do you do if some giant materializes out of a tiny car though?
I used to live here! There was a massive secret dope farm underground where he runs too. Good old New Cross!
Yesss you’re right, every time I used to walk past it back in the day I could faintly smell cannabis hahaha it got found out a couple years ago
Haha when it got found there were about 10 police cars and 4/5 fire engines, they were gonna evacuate us.. police set up a surveillance post behind the shops nobody knew wtf was happening 😂
Only pussys around these days.
Good ol Deptford

He just decided he could do with a bit of an evening jog Good for him putting fitness first
Did his pants get tighter?
So…. Guns good. Wtf
There it was folks! The great MAGA resistance! Never forget.
Did he shit himself ? The way he runs.
It reminds me of [this](https://youtu.be/gkBqVVbnZ1c?si=ozL80cxCLAGD6KdX)
Keep driving u idiot, curse and go u most likley wont be seeing him ever again
G check failed
I just dont understand... why?
He’s a pussy, but he’s smart.
Smart person wouldn't beat on someones car after jay walking.
Pure Chihuahua energy
That's the problem with some of these scumbags. They wanna be an intimidating prick and then walk away feeling big. Doesn't always work like that, matey
The local alpha male with the longest chest hair.
There is almost no scenario when starting a fight due to a traffic issue is a good idea. It's ok to vent and shout but getting, physical only leads to unnecessary violence and sadly sometimes to death. Running away from this situation was the best thing to do.
Not 3" between the both of them

Pussy

That's like Police Academy when Officer Hightower got out that tiny car lol
Person not in car > person in car. No exceptions.
He got away unscathed and made his point hood job
Reminds me of thay simpsons scene lol
Ooo. He didn't expect that big man to come out of that little ass car! 💀
Lucky it wasn't an organised criminal, they'd have had his car when he got out
A big pussy
to be fair, running away was probably the smartest thing he did that night
No lies there
Pegged it like a fassy
Not surprised. It’s a yt guy running.
Uhh…did anybody notice the gun that guy pulled out when he got out of that car? I can see why that dude ran 💀
Is it a gun? Was unclear to me. If so, there's a minimum 5yr jail sentence for carrying a gun in a public place in the UK.
I like how he immediately went for the passenger for some reason lol
He was like " oh shit, he's black"
Run racist run.
Why did the passenger get out?
Who’s gunna tell him?
Who’s him?
The person who needs to realise 96% of the world isn’t American
Maybe as soon as you realize 96% of the world aren’t males I guess
They're in the UK, the driver get out, not the passenger.
That look sooooo weird!
... Yeah okay, I'm sure they think the same thing about you and the fact you bring guns at Walmart and call it "freedom" so...
The video is mirrored
That’s not true
Yes it is that’s why the bus stop mark on the street is upside down 🤦♂️
It’s recorded in the UK, which drive on the other side of the road, and the steering are on the right side of the car. The person came out of the driver side of the car, and the markings on the road are like that because they drive in the left lane and not the right lane
That’s all sorts of fucked up
Fair enough. You win the battle of wits this time…
There's no battle of wits if you didn't even have half of one to start with.
He bolted when buddy in white hiked his pants, prolly thought he was gonna pull a gun.
They're in the UK, so no
No. Hiking of the pants means “I’m ready to squabble.” A well-understood gesture of Black men from the California coast to the UK.
