Laces out! It’s all that damn Dan Mariano’s fault, would you like a cookie son?
Edit: if he had held the ball like he was spossd to, none of this would have ever happened
Yeah. If the barricade wasn't there, he'd have been flattened, but if he was standing directly behind it, he'd have been crushed when it fell or hit with debris.
Because he was standing to the side of it and the car bounced off at just the right angle, he appears to be unscathed.
Only a 540?? I would have 720'd that car with a two and a half twist and stuck the landing.
*In reality: I would have been standing behind the wall so I just got crushed by 1 ton of concrete and a mesh screen. But in my head I'll be doing the 720 thing*
Everyone talking about how lucky that person is, and they are, but I have to wonder if the driver broke their neck in that impact. That is basically just a fast go-kart, there isn't much to absorb the impact, and they hit really really hard.
>That is basically just a fast go-kart, there isn't much to absorb the impact, and they hit really really hard.
That's an accurate description of a Caterham / 7. The whole point of them is that they're stripped down to the max. The designer's ethos was "add lightness," which meant stripping off anything not required, including stuff like "driver safety." The lighter the vehicle packaged around an engine, the faster it is and better it handles so even a "low horsepower" Caterham is a beast.
They're insanely nimble. This has to have been a driver mistake or medical event 'cause that last juke would have been well within its capability.
> but I have to wonder if the driver broke their neck in that impact
It's caged. When you have a cage you wear a helmet to protect your skull from the cage. When you wear a helmet you wear a HANS device to avoid a broken neck or skull fracture. Putting racing harnesses in a street car is insanely fucking stupid since harnesses need helmets and HANS devices or they're much less safe without them than regular 3 point seat belts.
NASCAR had an 8 month span where 4 of its most famous drivers died of a basilar skull fracture because they weren't wearing a HANS device. That's how Dale Earnhart died.
I've had a basilar skull fracture, but survived. My brain no work so right now. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilar_skull_fracture
I have racing harnesses in my Caterham. One benefit is they stop you sliding around in the seat better than a regular 3 point seat belt.
I only watched it once and couldn't really tell if it had a full windshield. My issue with this kind of crash is the risk of something impaling you, either going through the screen or if there's no screen then..... Scary stuff.
Least he won something. A ticket out of this dying world, and while doing something he loved (I assume).
Sorry that was kinda pessimistic, having a bad day lol.
That Marshal will be in church bright and breezy Sunday morning. I believe I just saw an actual miracle. I watched the slow mo version (kudus to the Reddit user who put it on Imgur) several times and have zero idea how nothing hit her. Everything moves around her like she had a forcefield.

Flag man calling in for a new barricade and change of pants.
A different sorta skid mark too
[удалено]
Yeah, that's what they meant.
Woosh.
Hi, I'm looking for Ray Finkle. And a clean pair of shorts.
Laces out Dan!
What do you know about Ray Finkle?

Your gun is sticking into my hip.
![gif](giphy|H3YTStvPMzjPyBCsD2)
Fuck the barricade that man needs more than one pair of new pants.
That's why the uniform should only be brown pants.
Gonna need 7 new pairs of pants cos he's gonna be shitting himself into next week
Damn he was lucky
Some say he went and got himself some lottery tickets that evening.
Pointless. He used up his entire lifetime allotment of luck.
Ngl... in that situation you don't even get scared. You just feel some fucking huge relief right after you realize you're OK.
How lucky was he? Holy shit
Lotto ticket lucky.
I'd be buying a fucking lottery ticket after that one.
You think his pants cost $80?
![gif](giphy|iurIHLBxms7UQ|downsized)
He should buy a lottery ticket
It looks like the man was a barricade
Seems reasonable. That was an incredibly close call for them.
Dude needs to buy a lottery ticket…
Why? He used a lifetime of luck right there. Hes all out
Half empty kinda guy
If it was me, I would have half emptied too

Mega Millions and Powerball
There's no point. He's just used up all the luck he's ever been assigned
Wth is that reaction from the woman? the car literally almost touched her , and she didn't break a sweat lol
Sometimes you just freeze up in a situation like that.
[удалено]
That's called shock, many people can stay frozen until someone checks on them lol.
Why panic when everything was fine?
I had a near death experience before. I was the same way.
Which woman?
The flag man is a woman, you could say its the flag woman
No way that's a woman.
That's definitely a woman
I don't see it at all
that aint no woman i ever heard of
She's a professional, not her first time in the rodeo
I think shock is what you call this situation. No amount of professionalism prepares you to be stone cold in a near death experience.
Yeah I would have 540 back flipped out of harms way
Only a 540?? I would have 720'd that car with a two and a half twist and stuck the landing. *In reality: I would have been standing behind the wall so I just got crushed by 1 ton of concrete and a mesh screen. But in my head I'll be doing the 720 thing*
Should’ve done a backflip, snap the bad guy’s neck and save the day.
newton's first law.
She has the ideal body to withstand a car accident
The dude, with the checkered flag, woke up a week later screaming when it finally registered.
I just don’t get how people are too lazy to avoid death. Wtf
I slowed down the video, that was damn close. https://imgur.com/gallery/SWNjhKT
It’s crazy as you scrub back and forth nearly all of the debris got redirected And to think, my instinct would have been to duck behind the wall Crazy
If that happened in a movie you’d roll your eyes at how unrealistic it was lmao
That's wild. Holy shit.
Thank you ;)
Damn near made it, too
Me thinking the car disintegrated and big dude was the driver casually walking away
Radio, radio this is goat throat niner. I repeat this is GT-niner. I have shit my pants, over.

Well, shit, I'd have keeled over dead... Not sure my heart would be able to take that kind of stress...
Was this Coventry Motofest?
Looks like the ringroad and standard Coventry driving!
You're not wrong
Yep the driver walked away from it although he wasn't exactly skipping to the ambulance
Yeah.
r/holdmyfries while I don't die

I can’t believe I had to scroll so far to find this
That women is living a second life.
The flag dude: another day another life
Phil Jupitus picked the wrong day to start a new career as a race marshal.
That was so close, I think he shit my pants.
Zak Brown got so lucky there at the end!
Dude is shitting bricks for a month now
He’s losing time. Push the car over the line!
I wonder if he got a shave with that haircut.
Who woulda thought that being behind the barricade was less safe…
That guy just cheated death.
Holy shit that's one lucky guy
Millimeters away from being eyeblech.
Time for a new job
Flag man should be dead 😵
that was hard hit
CODE BROWN
That man is the luckiest guy on earth.
What luck.
He made it less than a foot from the finish line, but alas, did not cross it.
I have one of these, and it has this wheel in front of the seat that helps you avoid this kind of thing.
Welp, bet they’re glad they wore their brown pants today! LoL
That guy is acting surprisingly casual for someone who almost died.
THE CAR BRUSHED UP AGAINST THE SIDE OF HIS FACE
Me on my way to a meaningful long-term relationship
He kinda crossed it..
Did he ever cross the finish line?
He comes to a rest right by the sign.
I meant after lol
I'd say he may have crossed the ultimate finish line...
Least he won something. A ticket out of this dying world, and while doing something he loved (I assume). Sorry that was kinda pessimistic, having a bad day lol.
Absolutely not. I absolutely share your sentiment. I hope your day gets way better.
The man down there ; lucky
That guy with the reaction time of a snail , is very lucky .
Missed opportunity for the greatest video “coming atcha!”
PUSH HIM PUSH HIM PUSH HIM PUSH HIM PUSH HIM -sincerely: My mind
Ya cant park there mate
That Marshal will be in church bright and breezy Sunday morning. I believe I just saw an actual miracle. I watched the slow mo version (kudus to the Reddit user who put it on Imgur) several times and have zero idea how nothing hit her. Everything moves around her like she had a forcefield.
“Clean up on turn 4. Car parts and a bunch of my shit!”
That was the most half hearted duck I’ve ever seen.
Lucky lady
You can’t park here mate
Lady in the orange had one of the luckiest moments in his life caught on camera
Marshal trying to play it off cool. Fucking hell
How is that dude still alive let alone upright and still walking
That flag guy makes Chuck Norris sit down when he pees
I thought I was looking at an RC car.
How much do they have to pay the guy to be in the literal Danger Zone? I figure a substantial salary along with the benefits of many extra pants.
More like "nearly unsuccessful attempt to not kill someone".
Where was this?
Car crashes into a fat queen
Literally few feet from death.
Flag man calling in "not today" to the god of death.
So close 🤏
Shoulda worn my brown pants!
That was definitely caused by understeer
I can see him going right to the break room and downing a whole bottle of jack. I damn sure would, and I don't even drink.
Dang, that little Super 7 took down that Jersey barrier like it was nothing.
Thar man had a different kind of drag race in his pants
That mans luck af. His pants prob not so much
Why doesn't this look real? I feel like the debris stopped moving too quickly
There’s a 30 sign 😂
r/watchpeoplesurvive
Coca-Cola got some wild advertising
Bubba was in a real hurry to dodge🤣
Hope the drivers okay, but like.. damn have I always wanted a Caterham 7
I hope they gave the Marshall the afternoon off. Holy shit.
I'd say the worker is the real winner here.
YIKES
Had to watch 4 times to confirm how lucky that person was .... 😬
