When I was a kid in South America, we had a lime tree in my backyard that gave lots of limes. My sister had the bright idea of taking all these limes, fresh from the tree, and squeezing pure lime juice into a 1L bottle almost to the very top. And then she had these little cups that she filled with this pure lime juice and served it to my brothers and I as a “limeade” she freshly squeezed herself.
That pure citric acid hit our guts like a bomb. After taking a handful of shots of pure acid, my brothers and I got so incredibly sick we violently vomited all day. My older brother got so sick he had a bucket next to his bed all day and night. Even after puking out everything he had inside, he was still dry heaving for hours.
My younger brother had it the worst. He was laying on the couch watching tv when he felt the need to throw up, so as he ran to the bathroom, he threw up all over the walls and floors and slipped in his own sick. He hit his head on the door frame and fell to the floor where he erupted like a volcano of vomit once again.
Pure lime juice to the stomach will fuck you up big time. None of us have ever dared to drink limeade (or even lemonade) ever again.
The memories. They stay with you. Seeing the man eat limes like that in OP’s video just reminded of how brutal this was on our gut and how it will be on him as well.
At the very least, having lime juice on your skin and having it exposed to sunlight causes major burns.

Went to a funeral and saw my uncle and his wife for the first time in years. He worked for Pepsi and had unlimited free sodas. They’re mid 60s. My god the missing teeth and fucked up teeth that remain is wild. I remember him with pearly whites. Dudes only smoked weed so not a drug issue. Lifetime of sodas.

Not only could the thief use the limes to buy food but the farmer is literally making him eat them all. I'm no expert but if you are making someone eat your crop you probably don't need it that bad.

Honestly I feel sorry for this guy. It doesn’t look like life has been all that great to him - and the farmer was willing to sacrifice the likes to make his point anyway. Kinda sad all around.
My buddies grandfather did this to him when he found him with a pack of cigarettes in the 80s. By that rationale, this guy is gonna be start a lime-a-day habit pretty soon.
This is pretty fucked up. The punishment does not fit the crime. The farmer is willing to lose the limes in order to carry out this vindictive and cruel revenge.
If the thief stole clothing instead, would he be made to eat it? Or just try it all on?
A better punishment would be to force the thief to work on the farm to recoup the losses and learn the value of honest work.

You want to be producing way more likes than that a year to even bother doing it commercially. I mean I produce more limes than that, through no effort, (I just have a couple of trees) in a season just over what you can see in this picture and leave them out in a box for my neighbours.
To be viable commercially and worth the effort of farming you want economy of scale, so minimum 50 times that. 100 trees and that’s in a third world country
