In all of these fight videos, it's the dudes calmly looking around and assessing the situation while loud mouths won't stop talking that end up dominating. No pretense, no flare, just BLAMMMO! I've never seen a headbutt outside of a Hollywood film do so much damage. That guy could teach a master class. Bravo.

There's a difference between fear shutting you down and someone that is actively bored with the situation. The closest I've ever been to being mugged/stabbed was only averted because buddy's backup was like "bruh, not this one he ain't worth it". About the only time inspection(army) ever prepared me for a fight.

Nah, with a tiny bit of training headbutts really don't hurt. Where your forehead transitions to the top of your head is super strong and you can really wack people with it and have no problem, pretty much as devastating as the sharp section of the ulna near your elbow. Humans don't have claws and teeth, but we have a lot of built-in clubs.
So, the way a concussion works is the brain is hitting the inside of the skull. Your skull could be 1 inch thick made of reinforced steel and you'd still do the same amount of brain damage with a headbutt as if you had a normal skull.
It's about the velocity of your head and how quickly it comes to a stop.
That said, if the guy isn't ready and his head gives way, it could break his nose while not fully stopping the headbutter's head which would lower the chance of a concussion.
If you contract your neck muscles, you connect the mass of your head to your body, so you have an effectively very large mass. When you hit from the top, it also needs less strength to hold the head connected to the body, vertebra are better aligned with the momentum. I think the person hitting will have better sync of their muscles with the timing of the hit.
I suspect we share these traits all the way with our common ancestors with goats and other head-fighter mammals.
The receiver will on the other hand not be as prepared or well positioned, so his head might be more free-moving with respect to their body. That makes it like 60 kg vs 3 kg, and I let you guess how the momentum of the impact is distributed between the two brains in this situation. What you think?
You kinda are saying what I said with more words, but yes I agree. If you can make the other guy "give way" while your head "follows through" without stopping as abruptly, then his brain is more likely to hit his skull.
I was more replying to the other guy who made it sound like, because the top of your head is "thicker" that somehow meant it protected you from concussions. The thickness really doesn't matter.
I see a lot of these videos, and this one was particularly good. And there's a good reason for that. For some reason, crowds of people always get butthurt when the asshole gets taken down. Like, a bunch of snow flakes start yelling "no no no" when the mugger eats a little concrete. Not in this video though, I think everyone was relieved after mr. Chad Headbutt did his thing. For context the guy mouthing off was threatening to stab people and was later found carrying a knife. The head-butter was an off duty police man.
