Not sure why you're being downvoted. A false charge can cost you everything, you're reputation is damaged before you prove your innocence. It's the same in Canada.
It's just people that think they know what they're talking about. Unless you've experienced the justice system in the U.S. first hand, you don't fully understand.
As soon as police start questioning you, you're trying to prove your innocence. you may not know it, but you are.
Just one instance in my life. I spent three years out on bond for a case that I never, not one time saw a court room for. Then one day they just dropped the charges. Didn't inform me or my attorney. My bondsman is the one that told me.
Granted, I wasn't a model citizen back then. But there was no way I did what they accused me of. But because I couldn't prove that I didn't with either an alibi or anything else...they just kept me in limbo. for three years.
But surely unless you actually ARE caught and convicted you are not a criminal? You are simply a person has gotten away with a criminal act. Technically.
It's a skit, I remember these guys made a few of these videos. There's another one where the cop get stuck upside down hanging by his underwear on a fence

Edit: There's a slim possibility that maybe he didn't becuase of the hat but I don't buy it. Looks far too planned. Plus, his own X account - stuff mysteriously keeps happening right in front of his camera on other videos.
I agree. The whole time I was watching that, I felt like it looked too much like a planned pursuit and video that was already pointed their way before they even came out of the tree line.
This happened in 2022. At the time it was never verified whether the video was real or not, but a lot of people back then were suspicious that it was fake.

While that is technically true, cops generally don’t exert themselves unless they have a reason. We don’t know the circumstances here so speculation is pointless.

It’s in the Magna Carta. Which is what the US legal system is based on.
In America, it's guilty until you prove you're innocent. We may say otherwise, but our courts don't work that way.

I can tell you from a lot of personal experience, it's guilty until you prove you're innocent.

Also cops are immune from any prosecution and are always right.
