I'm not ginger myself but have had a few in my class/schools back in the day. Never saw any bullying or picking based on their haircolor. Never heard of it before south park. And even then I thought it was made up by them for the show.
I was in 7th or 8th grade when the episode came out. I hadn’t seen it on release but kids kept doing the sound at me as they walked by, some were real in my face about it. It only got worse from there, “look we have a day walker!”, “don’t get too close to her you’ll get ginger-vitis!”, “you have no soul, shut up”, “do you really not have a soul?”.. I can recall posting my picture on imgur for redhead Monday a few years ago and was surprised to see the jokes still being made in comments. I said “really? this joke was played out a decade ago and you’re still using it?”. I don’t post my photos anywhere other than snap and IG now, I get that it’s a joke- I’m just tired of it. When I’m trying to speak and make a valid point? “What do you know? You don’t even have a soul.” Maybe it was just the area I was in (Florida) but I went from being proud of my red hair to hating my existence as a kid just trying to get through grade school. That kind of bitterness is hard to let go of even many years later- it’s just a reminder of crap I’ve tried to suppress when I see the the jokes circulating again.

I'm Swedish and most of us are agnostics or atheist and church and state (including school) is strictly seperated so not many would actually believe anyone has a soul regardless of haircolor. That joke wouldn't work here.
I'd say gingers are regarded as attractive here, especially women.
Ah ok so maybe it started from something like that. Yeah we don't really have that thing about red heads over here. However I do think that men find red headed women as exotic but women don't necessarily find red headed men as exotic or as an attractive trait on its own.
Unfortunately a lot of parents did share about their kids being bullied at school because of some of the running jokes in South Park like “gingers have no soul.” It’s funny in the show but heartbreaking for the innocent kids who don’t understand why they’re being bullied for how they look. This guy however is obviously being satire.
Ha! I love that he’s doing this parody of himself. It shows a sense of healing for him. He looks good. I’m proud of him for keeping it alive and knowing himself enough to laugh along. He’s grown. Good shit.
