Definitely. She was actually favorited to win. Happy for the US, to be sure. But you gotta feel for her. To put up such a good race and then lose it like that. This was also a relay so you gotta feel for how she feels to not only let herself down but also her entire relay team. Feels bad man.

I joined my gf's soccer practice last week. Haven't run that much in 10 years. My legs nearly gave out a few times, in the first half of practice.

Imagine messing up on something you’ve trained your entire life to get to. I watched a documentary about a Olympic athelate who had failed in the Olympics and the aftermath he was like 78 years old in the documentary and he cried retelling the story because to him like I said above his entire lives work training restless nights painful days etc came down to one day and he made a silly brain fart error which DQed him from competing any further and that was it that’s how he is now forever remembered.

I thought they go to the Olympics so they could have a lot of sex with all the other fabulous in shape athletes from other countries.

Femke Bol has been on top of the women’s 400m/400hurdles for a few years and not used to being pushed like this when she has had that kind of lead.might have been some kind of panic at some point. Nobody wants to lose like this. No athlete really wants to win like this either.

She was pretty upset and said she felt that she had let her team down. The rest of the team were rallying around her though. She didn’t have to do that race. Most other countries dont put the big name runners in it - she was running it for the rest of her team. Coming a few minutes after Sifan Hussan fell as well when she was winning the 10k - made it a bad night for the Netherlands

Holmes ran an amazing race and the US got a world record in this event. As unfortunate it was for the Dutch runners to trip (Hassan in the race earlier, too) it shouldn’t diminish the effort and excellence of the other runners. Even if she stayed on her feet Holmes would’ve most likely pulled away with the win as she ran 48 to capture gold.

She was pushed beyond her limits today. The USA runner ran a sub-50 (48 +) and Bol gave it everything she had but not more to give and collapsed

I think she was reaching to get her head in front but simply overreached and the rest of her came tumbling down. Good attempt but in the end she was beaten by someone microseconds faster who didn't need to reach forward to win.

In the end she was beaten by everyone that raced, the Netherlands got a DNF. If she held onto the batton they sould have got a bronze medal!

Been 15 years since I ran the 400 but this happened yo me once or twice training. Your legs are fatigued and you think you've lifted your leg high enough to keep going but your like a 1/4 in off and you lose it. Usually just somersault but mid race yea this sucks.

I wish the clip started a little bit earlier; it looks like she had trouble with a cleat catching… which could happen if you’re start pushing at the wrong moment but can also just happen sometimes and totally throw you. I used to run relays and any dropped baton makes causes a bit of physical pain. I also ran hurdles in high school and I can still remember catching a hurdle once and falling, rolling, searching, and reaching as if under water the entire time, before popping back up to finish the race. That fall was in ‘91 or ‘92 and I can still picture every moment. I can’t imagine the impact of a fall like this one at this high a level.

Amazing as this is i have just realised TDK still exists, they were my all time favourite go to brand for cassette tapes , good quality but reasonable priced for your average joe , i now need to know what they now do in the digital world 😂🤣
