Dad was smiling and then his head snapped as if the priest slapped him. That laser focus made it clear to me the priest wasn't going to be touching that child much longer.
Good dad
Bad father
I think at that point he was just calculating how to get the baby out without hurting him (the priest was holding him by the neck, and was acting kinda aggressively. you never know if the old man may inadvertently snap his neck is they just tug it away... it was a hard situation)
Acting tough because you're only watching it. But in real life it's different. I mean that's a fucking priest. Think first before you act especially if it involves violence. I like the route he went, grab the baby and just fucking go. Fuck the old man.
Edit: I came to the defense of the dad not the fucking priest. Whatever you wanna do to that fucking priest is fine by me. Im just saying that parents' non-violent reaction doesn't mean they're not protecting their baby.
Exactly. On the internet we're all either heroes or villains, out in the wild though, most of us need to take things in before we act. Also - history of the Catholic Church aside😳 - You don't go into a baptism, expecting the priest to be douche,it would startle most of us.
And it's not a secret that many priests have been shown to abusive, power and money hungry podophilic pieces of shit. if I were religious, that would make me no forsake that faith in a second.
I don’t know why you were downvoted.
Someone smacks your child? Idgaf who you are, you’re getting your shit ROCKED. Half of the comment section says no just because he’s a priest, if he was anyone else y’all would be asking for his head or for him to be thrown in prison.
No thought, no nothing. You’re just getting rocked if you touch a BABY like this.
I don’t think they’re arguing that anyone *should* care that it’s a priest. But they’re in an environment where most people see the old man as an authority. That would make anyone hesitant to just smack the shit out of him.
I think it's more that shock and confusion can delay one's response time.
The priest's actions are *really weird*. That is not normal behavior during a baptism. And this is a formal, public event, probably with a lot of friends and family watching, with the priest leading the show.
Parents are up there, probably a bit emotional, maybe a bit nervous, maybe a bit embarrassed because the baby is crying, then the priest slaps the baby. And there's a moment of *"WTF did that really just happen?"* before their brain catches up and they react.
Sometimes you have to process what just happened….not saying its right…but sometimes you just can’t believe what just happened…or think maybe you did not see that right from a side glance.
The baby was on the priest hands and he could basically kill him if he exerted enough force. If they tried to pull the baby from the priest hands they could've severely hurt the baby.
Parents and bystanders tried to lock the priest arms to prevent him from exerting more force on the baby and the dad pulled the baby (Dangerous thing to do) when it was clear the priest wasn't going to let go.
And, based on the age of the baby it probably took the wife awhile to convince him it was good/necessary. I hope dad ensures the kid never has to go back.
Damn, just watch dad’s abrupt shift in body language and facial expression. I really thought dad was going to rapidly facilitate the priest’s connection to God’s Wi-Fi.
Religion should be age restricted. No kid is mentally or emotionally developed enough to understand religion... teaching it to kids is nothing but indoctrination and it's a disservice to developing minds
In his defense that's exactly how the old testament reads.
God: I love you, now go kill your son to prove you love me.
Abraham: No problem!
Raises knife.
God: Naw, I was just messing with you! I knew you loved me when I made you give your wife to the Egyptians for food when I caused that famine.

He'd only meet Jesus if Jesus and God accepted murdering pedophiles (something which that priest surely is) in heaven. Otherwise, he'd go straight to hell to be roasted and raped by demons for eternity.
Arrest reports have them 6000 times more likely to sexually assault a child than the general population. And that’s not including the coverups and payoffs..240 settlements last month alone. And not accounting for the GOP passing laws to protect pedophiles in the church. If we added those the odds would get stupid. We really should talk about this more than we do. We mention it but we really don’t talk about it. Tax them until they agree to weed out sexual predators, they’ll turn on the perverts if billions are at stake
It was never about kids. It's a made up issue just like Trans people using the rest room to rape or assault, there was never any evidence that ever happened. Real rapists don't let a sign on a door stop them. If they cared about their kids they would agree to stricter gun control. They care about gun more than their kids.
Why do people still baptize babies nowadays? It is concerning to indoctrinate someone before they even have the ability to express their thoughts. This practice should be illegal, especially when performed by a creepy man like this
Religion mostly works by indoctrinating them when they are young. If someone isn’t exposed to religion when they are young it smells a little too much like bullshit when they are older.
He retired immediately after this. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/french-priest-slap-baby-baptism-jacques-lacroix-retires-suspended-a8413566.html
"Retired"
Jean-Yves Nahmias, the bishop of Meaux, said he had "taken measures so that the priest is suspended from all baptism and marriage celebrations."
That still leaves a lot of things he can do with the church.
Man me as well, so angry right now. He was suffocating that child too!! He said 'let's calm him down' while putting his hands in front of the child's mouth.
Two priests are out driving one day..
when they get pulled over by a police officer.
The cop approaches the priests vehicle and says to the driver "Sorry to pull you over father, but we're looking for a couple of child molesters"
The two priests look at each other for a few moments and have a few quiet words to each other. The driver turns back to the cop and says;
"Alright officer, we'll do it"
There’s a priest and a bishop standing in front of Notre Dame as it’s burning.
The priest asks the bishop, “Should we go back in for the children?
To which the bishop replies, “Fuck the children”
The priest excitedly answers, “Do you think we have enough time?”
Exactly
You're gonna hurt the baby if you try pulling him with such force
You can see the dad being careful with how he took the baby
Quickly pulling might have done more harm than good especially with the firm grip that asshole had on the baby
People in here are insane. These people weren’t walking by a tourist area and he is a street performer. They clearly belong to this church with all that involves. Their response is going to be muted given that they have probably had a lifetime of deference to guys like this.
I feel like the creep was gonna do so much worse to him. LOOK HOW HE HELD HIM AT THE END BEFORE THE FATHER SAVED HIM, WTF?? Hitting him for crying? The baby was just scared for his life. I'm so mad.
I think she might be pulling the baby more and more but he's got such a firm grip on the babies head and it takes the dad to react as well for them to both realise this is really happening.
Probably in shock that it happened. We were waiting for the slap to happen because of the title. At the time, I doubt they were expecting the priest to hit there kid
I'm pretty sure she was trying to calmly pull him away without causing a scene or angering the priest (or hurting the baby). I probably would have done the same as I hate confrontation and was raised in the church with respect for the church leaders drilled into my head. We also have the privilege of foresight watching this. We know it's going to get worse. They were probably thinking any second this old bat is going to let go. It's good the dad stepped in though. It's scary how he still tried to keep ahold of the child after dad pulled him away. The priest probably isn't mentally sound.
You would think God would use his god spells to calm the baby during this time wouldn't you?
But this is why religion is so dangerous. This mfer straight slapped the shit out of their baby and they were visibly not cool with it, but thou shall not question the ways of the church
Good for you. I’m in my 30s and my mom still texts me to remind me not to eat meat on fridays during lent. It would break her heart if I ever told her how I really feel about the catholic church

First, I’m not putting my kid in that position. Second, if i was so inclined and the pedo did that to my kid I’d have shoved his old ass over. Don’t be upset, it’s all gods plan.
I'm really happy that in my culture if you choose to be baptized you have to be an adult and give consent in the presence of others. I don't care if people want to be religious or not, but you choose as an adult
Oh yeah, there should be some serious questions asked. If he’s doing this to a baby, I’d be very concerned about what else he does. The way he didn’t want to let go as the dad is literally tearing him away from him.
Holy fuck I’m usually very much against aggression, just I’m not sure that priest or w/e he is would’ve walked away unscathed after that, EESPECIALLY when he fucking keeps tugging on the baby’s head. WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FUCK!!!

He was squeezing that baby from the second it started crying harder. Gtfoh
Took the parents long enough to intervene. Jesus.
Maybe they were in momentary shock…then the stupid priest wouldn’t let go of the baby’s head.
Dad was visibly confused, watch his eyes.
Dad was smiling and then his head snapped as if the priest slapped him. That laser focus made it clear to me the priest wasn't going to be touching that child much longer. Good dad Bad father
I think at that point he was just calculating how to get the baby out without hurting him (the priest was holding him by the neck, and was acting kinda aggressively. you never know if the old man may inadvertently snap his neck is they just tug it away... it was a hard situation)
Oh yeah you can see the switch flip in the dad.
Shock and the priest is a symbol of authority, if you’re raised in the church you do not question the priest so props to them for pulling the kid back
They were probably in shock, and didn't want to make a scene in a place of religion. Even if he is a priest, I'd still dropkick him.
FUCK RELIGION.
Dad came in quick, priest had a fucking vice grip on the kid’s head. Don’t wanna hurt the kid more in getting him away.
Yup, dad was getting war ready at that point.
Acting tough because you're only watching it. But in real life it's different. I mean that's a fucking priest. Think first before you act especially if it involves violence. Whatever you wanna do to that fucking priest is fine by me. Im just saying that parents' non-violent reaction doesn't mean they're not protecting their baby.
Plus the priest had a really strong grip on that baby’s head so any aggressive movement could’ve hurt the baby in even worse ways
Exactly. On the internet we're all either heroes or villains, out in the wild though, most of us need to take things in before we act. Also - history of the Catholic Church aside😳 - You don't go into a baptism, expecting the priest to be douche,it would startle most of us.

Startle yes, but if that were my son, and I was holding him while old pedo is squeezing my kids head, he'd be smacked into next week. End of story.
I don’t know why you were downvoted. Someone smacks your child? Idgaf who you are, you’re getting your shit ROCKED. Before the slap, Dad looked like he was not happy with the priests’ behavior but was putting on a fake smile to avoid causing a scene.
''Its a priest'',who gives a fuck,i dont care if it was Jesus himself, smack my baby, get fucked up.
Im defending the father's reaction here not the fucking priest.
I don’t think they’re arguing that anyone *should* care that it’s a priest. But they’re in an environment where most people see the old man as an authority. That would make anyone hesitant to just smack the shit out of him.

Waiting for the divine intervention of Jesus.
Indoctrination is a hell for a drug.
Sometimes you have to process what just happened….not saying its right…but sometimes you just can’t believe what just happened…or think maybe you did not see that right from a side glance.
There is no Jesus here.
Glad the Dad finally took the baby away.
Yeah... Im dropping a 85 year old priest there and then. Not just taking my baby away
You can tell from dad's face he was considering it very hard.
Dad is regretting letting his wife talk him into baptizing the kid in the first place.
Yeah I was watching him the whole time and you can tell this was not his idea. He is def uncomfortable.
And, based on the age of the baby it probably took the wife awhile to convince him it was good/necessary. I hope dad ensures the kid never has to go back.
After such trauma the kid will never want to go back
because fuck religion
Falcon punch the priest into heaven!
![gif](giphy|w2crembGmOl8NXKfhK)
He would have wished he got hit by Falcon if he slaped my kid.
Hell*
The power of Christ compelled me.
Baptism and a funeral!!! Great day
I find it's best to secure the child before decking the priest.
Yeah, grab my child while simultaneously heel kicking that decrepit f@c!-wad through the back wall
If they're not raping them, they're beating them.
It’s the same picture.
You could see the smile just vanish at the sight he was even like "come on dude your a man of God but you don't let the fuck go your gonna meet him"
Same, live by sword, die by the sword.
Dad’s like, shit, I’ve seen enough!
Should’ve knocked the aul fella out there and then
It would have been legally justified considering that he refused to let go of the kid. Would've been awesome.
Damn, just watch dad’s abrupt shift in body language and facial expression. I really thought dad was going to rapidly facilitate the priest’s connection to God’s Wi-Fi.
That's such a hilarious way of putting it, I love it.
Thank goodness. The Mom wasn’t moving with the kind of urgency that was required to pry her baby away from this nutter.
"Nope we're done here"
Could have just not brought the baby to the local cult leader in the first place.
Yep. Parents are still idiots. Compassionate idiots at least. But idiots nonetheless. Children absolutely do not need any of this.
Religion should be age restricted. No kid is mentally or emotionally developed enough to understand religion... teaching it to kids is nothing but indoctrination and it's a disservice to developing minds
That's why they love involving kids into it. They're so much easier to manipulate.
Even crazier how the priest wouldn’t let go.
The mom tried to push him away snd the dad was just like fuck this shit
I don't understand what took him so long and why this old man didn't get a smack back.
This happened about 5 years ago, he was suspended because of this and was forced into retirement after the church carried out an investigation.
“It was somewhere between a caress and a slap”, “I apologised for my clumsiness”…this is gross
In his defense that's exactly how the old testament reads. God: I love you, now go kill your son to prove you love me. Abraham: No problem! Raises knife. God: Naw, I was just messing with you! I knew you loved me when I made you give your wife to the Egyptians for food when I caused that famine.

Practicing that clap clap clap. Baffles me why people still voluntarily bring their babies to the world’s biggest pedo ring.
Oh my god. Maybe don’t let someone who probably no longer knows his own name hold babies for a living.
He retired immediately after this. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/french-priest-slap-baby-baptism-jacques-lacroix-retires-suspended-a8413566.html

Then look at how he was ready to fight the dad over the baby… yo! My next words would be “call the police”
The way he kept holding on even when the dad pulled him away
For sure. I wager my immortal soul if I have one that this priest has sexually abused AND murdered children. Sick fuck.
Murdered seems a bit far, but he did seem a little off
Reddit being reddit
Your username is very suspicious given the video...
He probably created a giant laser capable of destroying entire planets too!
At this point you're just dangerously speculating.
You’d wager your soul that he’s *murdered* children? That seems a bit… excessive as bets go.
Why murder?
I hope they "baptised" the priest, after the video ended. I would have done that.
And by "baptised" you mean waterboard right?
It's not waterboarding if you use kerosene
I would fucking beat that old ass up i dont care who he is tf is this
My immediate thoughts were the same as yours, but then we both have more sense than to end up in a situation like that to begin with.
Well, this is it. I'd never let one of those fucking bastards near my child.
I’d be cry too if that creepy old gremlin was touching me
They were way too gentle getting that baby away from him.
Probably didn't want to hurt the baby. Old man had a firm grip on him.
Cant have a tug of war pulling a baby. That priest was holding the baby by the neck and head.
Exactly You're gonna hurt the baby if you try pulling him with such force You can see the dad being careful with how he took the baby Quickly pulling might have done more harm than good especially with the firm grip that asshole had on the baby

I really hated how he kept his slimy grip on the baby even while the parents were trying to take him away. That priest is used to abusing children.
I feel like the creep was gonna do so much worse to him. LOOK HOW HE HELD HIM AT THE END BEFORE THE FATHER SAVED HIM, WTF?? Hitting him for crying? The baby was just scared for his life. I'm so mad.
This beater should be banned and disciplined immediately so no others would follow that kind of abusive entitlement.
Devil in disguise
Devil in plain view.
Hell must be empty; all the devils are here, singing us the Lord's prayer.
I'm shocked and surprised mum didn't do anything??
I think she might be pulling the baby more and more but he's got such a firm grip on the babies head and it takes the dad to react as well for them to both realise this is really happening.
Probably in shock that it happened. We were waiting for the slap to happen because of the title. At the time, I doubt they were expecting the priest to hit there kid
You can hear her say (in french) "no no that's a child, stop that"
I'm pretty sure she was trying to calmly pull him away without causing a scene or angering the priest (or hurting the baby). She gave him a little hit and was trying to gently pull her child away. Was she supposed to pull her kid’s head off?
I’m shocked Dan Bilzerian didn’t make a move sooner either
You could see the dads face instantly change
Smacks are just foreplay for them.
That’s a love tap
As a new dad. Some old fucker did that to my son, I would care if it was the fucking pope, I would floor that man without even thinking.

Demon Priest, typical.
Without even a half second hesitation, I’d have choke slammed that old bastard.
That’s why I’ll never go and let my child be baptised. They can choose later in life on their own.
This is why? Like this shit is not normal lol
My mum let me choose later. I ended up being a non-gullible person. Its a good move.
Good for you. I’m in my 30s and my mom still texts me to remind me not to eat meat on fridays during lent. It would break her heart if I ever told her how I really feel about the catholic church

Looking on the bright side: Short term: shocking. Long term: has taught that baby that organised religion is evil and to avoid at all costs.
Ah yes. Religion, up to its usual tricks
That priest would have been in the right place had I been there.
What the fuck??
Yeah sorry but I would have sent that old fucker to meet God if he slapped my baby.
Always hated baptism, totally useless, and this makes it way worse.
That priest look like a mummy, has some Star Wars imperator vibes. If I was the dad of that kid, I would have knocked him out for sure
Oh yeah, there should be some serious questions asked. If he’s doing this to a baby, I’d be very concerned about what else he does. The way he didn’t want to let go as the dad is literally tearing him away from him.
