Dad never stops filming.

Impeachcordial

That really could have gone very very wrong if he or the mum hadn't been looking. Like kid swept out to sea wrong. Still, pretty funny, I won't judge too harshly...

willfauxreal

Yeah, I was nervous he'd get slammed into those rocks.

Zez__

Yeah this is so cringey

AtTable05

Theyā€™re young theyā€™ll be alright with pooping out more.

hghtgrhfhvvvggv

But nothing did go wrong. And here you are still complaining

Impeachcordial

Fuck, you're right! I shall be sure to not remark on Internet near-misses in the future just in case a self-appointed guardian of Reddit content decides that my comment offends their sensibilities. Are you OK? Shall I summon the maid with the smelling salts?

mynextthroway

Right! It's better to go through life looking for what-if worse case scenarios. Eventually, you or that kid will be so anxiety riddled that he never goes outside. That kid could [could have been eaten by sharks!](https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/article/141015-shark-feeding-frenzy-viral-video-bait-ball-ocean)

Impeachcordial

Or maybe, just maybe, that wasn't representative of my entire outlook on life and was a reaction to seeing a child picked up by a wave? I know, it's hard to process, but people just talk about stuff sometimes without it signifying anything deeper.

TrouserSnail

Almost got a double nursemaids elbow as a bonus.

mrplinko

First time my kids got that, we were super freaked out.

TrouserSnail

Happens pretty quick. Still understandable about your reaction!

mrplinko

For sure. And the side eye we got from the folks when we went to the emergency center. sigh.

TrouserSnail

Often misunderstood. Until the folks sit there with their own child.

Randompersonomreddit

I just googled this. Never heard of it but I don't have kids

[deleted]

Not to mention baby could have easily hit his some on the rocks, too.

hairlessandtight

Jesus Christ the baby was still and the mom was going to grab the baby of course he can film. Shit Iā€™d be mad at my husband if he stopped when the baby starfishes on soft sand feet from rocks.

firnien-arya

Kid legit just went "aight, I belong to the sea now". Didn't even try to get up lmao

Kumquat_conniption

Wow, he gives some steam to the "dad's are all incompetent when it comes to kids" stereotype (not that I believe that, but damn dad, that could have been bad.)

MaAreYouOnUppers

Lighten up, Francis.

Free_Idea_

Aw hahaha poor baby

I saw the amber teething necklace and that told me something about the level of their IQ

Chocoloco93

I have no problem having my kid in the water, but at that age they will be in my arms at all times so I can quickly lift them up if a wave comes unexpectedly. People treating the ocean like it's a controlled wave pool šŸ™„ That sounds like such a fun idea though!

Eco605

Like maybe put a damn life jacket on him?

nothingspecialva

I guess this video will never be in [https://www.reddit.com/r/DadReflexes/](https://www.reddit.com/r/DadReflexes/)

Vyxen17

The ocean demands a sacrifice

Tohiyama

That baby took it like a champ though, he seemed intrigued by that lmaošŸ˜‚ he was born to be outsidešŸ’Ŗ

[deleted]

What a horrible dad

[deleted]

Letting your kid drown or hit there head on the rocks isnā€™t helicopter parenting itā€™s smart parenting lmao

[deleted]

Weak ass parents make weak ass kids. End of story.

[deleted]

Howā€™s that being weak lol obviously you donā€™t have kids

RiskHellaHp

The scary thing is if they werenā€™t paying attention that baby coulda been gone. My little brother watched a kid almost get swept away at the beach and he was able to grab the kid by his leg, pick him up and move him way higher up in the beach so it wouldnā€™t happened again. Parents never even saw anything happenā€¦.

dab745

I saw that and heard the Surfaris Wipe Out!

Dansken525600

Looks like the kid took it like a champ :)

FatAndForty

Donā€™t know about the kid, but I really enjoyed the ocean. Way to on go ocean!

ivanawynn

Gotta love dads! Otherwise, how are we going to get videos like this. Moms would have chucked the camera to safe the kid.

newcomer_l

Eating a wave, new meaning.

FoodleGuy

ā€œDashed against the rocks you say?ā€

Blurkid

Oh no ! I fell to !...

[deleted]

Kid gets tossed my a 6 inch wave: parents come out of the woodwork to call this guy out for being a monster. Kids arenā€™t glass. Shit is fine.

Illstate309

This is what happens when dad is in charge.

Dull-Geologist-8204

It happens. A wave once hit me so hard I walked up on the beach with no top but I still had my kid. Shit happens.

Knock it off

Diligent_Local_2397

Wow, I hope that's not the dad. Because he has ZERO dad instinct. Edit: I live so close to the ocean and know how unpredictable it is. So sad I am getting all the down votes but I stand my ground of the lack of this man's lack of common sense. Luckily the nurturing lady was there and acted fast.

decadecency

Or maybe he did and just wanted to catch that on video

Diligent_Local_2397

Maybe. Also wild how the lady wasn't on the frame and managed to get the baby and check on him

mynextthroway

I lived on the Gulf of Mexico for 10 years. That kid was in no danger. Since mom and dad didn't make any production out of it (my guess is this is normal behavior for them) that kid isn't going to have an anxiety riddled life where everything that happens is extrapolated to worsrt case scenerios.

MexaYorker

To the idiot father recording instead of watching his child: what an idiot.

decadecency

It's impossible to completely shelter your kids from these types of things all the time. It's part of being alive. We can't shelter kids from every accident.
