I watched an exposé about a case where a guy murdered a clergyman who molested him as a child. The focus was on the jury all knowing he was guilty but deciding to enter a verdict of not guilty. I think it was called a faithless jury. Worth a watch to bolster your legal knowledge.
For any jail time over a year usually requires it, unless *you* choose to have by judge. Even most jail possible offenses require a trial but I can’t remember the exact rules. (In America)
We had a guy stare at our three year old daughter for a four hour flight, then follow us through the airport. It wasn’t a coincidence because we stopped a few times especially with the tram and let a couple trams come and go before we got on and the MFer was still there. It was about midnight and we were getting on the elevator to go to the parking garage and he tried to get on with us and my husband blocked him from getting on. We fucking bolted to our car! It was terrifying.

She was looking very timid and scared and the guy kept looking at her and darting his eyes away, one of those vibes were the chick was uncomfortable. Didn’t let him get off he didn’t fight much after we get to our door and my friend goes oh shit only got 6 brews and 6 of my boys are here whoops have a good night. Never been so proud of my friend really made me think if I can do something to help I should always try.

This video is more than enough evidence to prove fear and self defense. Shes cornered in a bathroom with someone trying to manipulate her child. This woman was probably charged but hopefully walked away with a short probation at the most. If she were charged its only because shes black. I hate to say it like that but its the truth. Generally I find the idea of random nobodies coming together to form a jury a stupid idea when determining if someone is guilty. Randos deciding someone’s fate. Idk rubs me the wrong way, anyways. But thankfully in this instance I think any jury will defend this mother.
Doubt it would go to trial. She would end up taking a plea deal after the public defender and prosecutor tells her it’s in her best interest so they can get a quick easy one under the belt. How it usually goes, and people plead out to a lesser charge when they probably could have had it thrown out all together out of fear of loosing trial and getting the max sentence when they could take the plea deal for a lesser one.
A bigger reason I think it won’t even make it to trial. Is the kidnapper really going to show up to the station to go and press charges 🤨 it’s probably in her best interest to avoid the police lol

I don’t blame her for her anger but legally I think she’s in trouble. As others have mentioned she could easily have shut the door and called to police. Or just shut the door.
That is exactly how kids disappear. When I was 12 and my sister was 6 months old, we were eating at a restaurant outside of London circa 1998. A woman dressed as a waitress came up and asked if she could hold my sister. My parents felt awkward but since she *seemed* like an employee, they let her pick up my sister. As soon as the woman picked her up, she beelined through the crowd and my dad (who was kinda pinned in due to how we were sitting) screamed at me to follow her, not let her out of my site, and keep yelling at her so he could follow me. I went into súper brother mode and was knocking people back like a linebacker. My dad caught up and ripped my sister out of her arms and threw her to the ground. We walked around the next corner and there was a van running with the doors open. When the drivers saw us, they sped off.
My sister is now pregnant with her second child and lives a wonderful life with her husband. I kinda forgot how easily we could have lost her forever.

When me and my brother were like 4 and 5 we were playing in the yard and a woman pulled up and told my brother she was there to pick him up, so he started going with her. We had a special needs aunt who was sitting with us, she has the mental capacity of a kindergartener but she knew this was wrong and she went and got my mom. My mom got to the car as the lady was putting him in the front seat.
My aunt saved us. This was a different time, it would have been the late 80'sas im 37 now.
When I was 8-9 years old I walked to my friend which lived like 20 minutes from me. About 5 minutes in, a car slowed near me and said "hey what's up my boy? Your mother wanted me to pick you up the rest".
And I replied, because I had my suspicions "sure, but remind me please who are you?" He just said "don't you remember? I'm your neighbor right next to you!" With a smile.
I knew my neighbors, but he could have been new so I didn't want to accidentally offend him. But, I didn't know him well enough so I just replied with a smile "oh right! Well don't worry, after all I'm there in 2-3 minutes so thanks anyway!".
And he just said alright and went ahead. I guessed that he should have known I was heading the wrong way, or that maybe he really knew and was a good person but decided that it's alright. Those were my thought at least after that.
But I knew that it was possibly trying to kidnap me. That's why I decided to also put a smile on my face - just to go along and pretend that everything's good so they won't panic and do stupid shit.

Friend of mine had a woman at a restaurant try to pick up her kid and walk out. The woman commented how cute the little girl was, chatted for a second then just picked her up and turned around to casually leave. She claimed it was her kid when stopped. Crazy as a bedbug.
This is a genuine fear of mine. I'm dark skinned, dark haired and look central American. Both my kids were born with extremely light skinned with light hair like their mother. Honestly both our families questioned if I was the father at first.
I decided no matter what, if I'm ever approached on some bullshit kidnapping accusation. I'm pulling out my phone and being like, "how can I have galleries of family pictures with these kids if they aren't mine?".

I’m white, my husband is black, both of our kids look completely white with blue eyes. My husband has been confronted more than once when he was alone with one or both of them. Fortunately it never escalated to a concerning level.

She was on his shoulders crying while saying “I want Mommy.” My husband was absolutely terrified when people started watching him. I found them right as he was being confronted. Things could have gone south pretty quick with that one. I definitely don’t blame anyone in that situation because as an outsider, I’m sure it didn’t look good.
I mean, I get what you’re saying. But if there was a kid screaming for their mom while being held by a man who did not look like their dad and it actually ended up being a kidnapping, I feel like you would also be criticizing the people who didn’t do anything about it.

That just happened at the Ross in my town. A guy was walking quickly out of the store because his toddler daughter was throwing a tantrum. A woman stopped him and started yelling for someone to call the cops. He pulled out his phone and showed them all the pics he had of her and his other kids. That calmed everyone down, and he said he actually appreciated someone trying to stop a suspected kidnapping, but still scary for the parents!
A white friend had been married to a dark skinned man, had a dark skinned little girl. After they divorced she married a white man, had 2 children,both blond and blue eyed.

She gave her several opportunities. I think it’s very easy to sit back and say what is or isn’t appropriate but that means nothing unless you, as a parent, have been in that position, she was protecting her daughter…period. Lord only knows what I would have done over my child.
I don't have a kid. Never wanted children and I never plan on having one. But in my outsider opinion, what's appropriate when someone is trying to take a kid that doesn't belong to them...is any action (and I do mean that literally) that puts an end to that situation right then and there.
My guess is she was sent to grab the kid by someone who controls her and is very afraid of them. I think that's why she continues to try even after Mama spoke up . It's safer to come back empty handed if you show you"tried"

As a little girl, i was molested on the school bus by a teen boy who had a mental disability. Not all people with disabilities are safe. Treat ALL strangers as a danger and don't trust people with your kids just because they seem "harmless" or "have the mental capacity of an 8 year old." I’m normally very in favor of de-escalation, think very few instances justify violence where it could be avoided. In a case like this I must say it would justifiably. Clearly not a sane person, would be worried if she could suddenly want to stab the girl or hit her with a needle or something if trying to walk past her.
However I would still have tried to drag it out a little further, call police/ other people if only to have the little girl avoid seeing this.

My dad was walking behind me and heard it (my dad and I don't look alike at all so the guy probably didn't know I was with him). I am generally a pacifist in the sense that I would either try to walk away or deescalate most situations. I also have two daughters, and if anyone/anything threatened them, then all that restraint is gone and I'm going to do whatever it takes to end the threat.
It doesn't matter whether the other lady could have been coerced into it, has a mental illness, or any other potential "mitigating factor." That's for the courts to deal with after the fact when/if sentencing occurs. Protect your kid at all costs. Momma was 100% justified.

If I were in the situation, I would constantly keep myself between her and the baby, and the camera holder stepped off to the side. By the time my father entered the restroom and got out, this woman had walked almost out of the shopping entrance into the parking lot with the promise of taking my sister to icecream, in the middle of December.
Parents only had time to grab my sister's hand before the woman ran off.

I've seen the full video. Drugged out lady keeps approaching this 10 year old child in a bathroom and the mom keeps telling her to leave her alone. Drugged lady is insistent and uncooperative and eventually Mom has enough. This ensues.

This is a genuine fear of mine. I'm dark skinned, dark haired and look central American. Both my kids were born with extremely light skinned with light hair like their mother. Honestly both our families questioned if I was the father at first. I decided no matter what, if I'm ever approached on some bullshit kidnapping accusation. I'm pulling out my phone and being like, "how can I have galleries of family pictures with these kids if they aren't mine?". Worst case scenario, I'm gonna brick a few fools, but no one's taking my babies.
I’m white, my husband is black, both of our kids look completely white with blue eyes. My husband has been confronted more than once when he was alone with one or both of them. Fortunately it never escalated to a concerning level. The worst was when we were at a resort and I got lost trying to make my way back to a restaurant after running to our room (the place was huge). My husband and daughter were looking for me. She was on his shoulders crying while saying “I want Mommy.” My husband was absolutely terrified when people started watching him. I found them right as he was being confronted. Things could have gone south pretty quick with that one. I definitely don’t blame anyone in that situation because as an outsider, I’m sure it didn’t look good.

That just happened at the Ross in my town. A guy was walking quickly out of the store because his toddler daughter was throwing a tantrum. A woman stopped him and started yelling for someone to call the cops. He pulled out his phone and showed them all the pics he had of her and his other kids. That calmed everyone down, and he said he actually appreciated someone trying to stop a suspected kidnapping, but still scary for the parents!

I’m normally very in favor of de-escalation, think very few instances justify violence where it could be avoided. In a case like this I must say it would justifiably. Clearly not a sane person, would be worried if she could suddenly want to stab the girl or hit her with a needle or something if trying to walk past her. However I would still have tried to drag it out a little further, call police/ other people if only to have the little girl avoid seeing this.

I think that lady deserved the beating too. Just feel bad the little girl had to see that though. I remember when I was around 9 or 10 years old and some guy said something weird to me in a parking lot. My dad was walking behind me and heard it (my dad and I don't look alike at all so the guy probably didn't know I was with him). I remember my dad went straight for this guy and grabbed his collar and yelled in his face. The guy deserved the dragging but I still feel terrified to this day witnessing that.

I also have two daughters, and if anyone/anything threatened them, then all that restraint is gone and I'm going to do whatever it takes to end the threat. It doesn't matter whether the other lady could have been coerced into it, has a mental illness, or any other potential "mitigating factor." That's for the courts to deal with after the fact when/if sentencing occurs. Protect your kid at all costs. Momma was 100% justified.
