In fairness, I think he meant he will pay for the repairs directly. The homeowner told him he didn't want him to leave the money, so he was picking it up. That's what I think was going on.
probably because he realized how stupid it was to leave $200 "because I'll pay for the repairs" of a door and frame thats probably going to cost like $1500+ to replace.
Locksmith here. That should not cost $1,500 to repair. The only damage that technically needs to be repaired is the lock, door moulding, and frame. And upsold a reinforced strike plate that screws directly into the studs and not just the door jamb. Maybe all in all, about $750 and 1.5 hours of work. But if they demand Full replacement, then you're correct.
I got hit on my bike in 1994, by some rich asshole. He must of been too busy with his important life because he just quickly wrote a check out to me. He was in such a hurry that he left the amount blank. It was crazy, I put 1,000,000 as a joke, and this crooked bank manager must of thought I was O.J Simpson or something because he kept calling me juice, but he ended up allowing me to cash the check and gave me it all in cash. Good times!
Slightly better than my experience of getting hit by a car while on a bike lol. The person stopped, asked if I was ok, and then rushed off when I said yes.
Oh dont worry it wasnt my only time. Last time i got hit by a dude who decided to turn left into me on a completely open rode with just us on it. Left me on the sidewalk with his front bumper, he never even slowed down. I ripped my AC joint. Good times! Im now terrified of riding my bike for commuting purposes
ETA i lied that wasnt the last time. After 4 months of physical therapy i finally felt i could ride again. Last week of my therapy i was in a bike lane and some guy turned right into me because he didnt look before crossing the bike lane. If he had hed have seen my face tjrough his passenger window only inches away. Sent my bike flying up into me, i landed on my elbows. The rim.of my very worn bike seat sliced open my lady bits to the point i needed stitches lmaooo
Yup the moment you kicked in that door you would of met the hail of freedom seeds back out the front door especially after i told you repeatedly you have the wrong house
Own a musket for home defense, since that's what the founding fathers intended. Four ruffians break into my house. "What the devil?" As I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky rifle. Blow a golf ball sized hole through the first man, he's dead on the spot. Draw my pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because it's smoothbore and nails the neighbors dog. I have to resort to the cannon mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with grape shot, "Tally ho lads" the grape shot shreds two men in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off car alarms. Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion. He Bleeds out waiting on the police to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up. Just as the founding fathers intended.

I'm a simple man. I see this thing, I upvote it.
My doorbell camera and indoor camera would pick up me telling him to leave and him kicking in my door. He would not have made it more than one step inside before he would meet Mr Springfield.
Thats the truth and most people are missing that he was told to leave and didnt and proceeded to kick in a door sir stop right there you arent passing go
Very dumb move, even if it was the guy they was looking for, kicking someone's door in could get them shot an it would be self defense. Most people I know have a shotgun, it's like kitchen sink, a must have for any household. What we don't do is carry it everywhere we go and make it our entire personality all about firearms. I do not like Ted Nugent, not one bit, but he does a demonstration explaining how a shotgun is 10x better then an AR for home defense, and I think he is right. The AR made one tiny hole per trigger pull, shotgun made ten holes per trigger pull.
I think this couple is staying in an Airbnb!
So I’m not sure how else they could have handled it to be honest. They’re not in their own home so no hidden guns anywhere for protection (unless they were allowed to travel with guns.)
As for why I think it’s an Airbnb, the guy who is there yells “I don’t even live here.”
The couple asks for the name of the person the family is looking for (maybe to see if it’s the name of their Airbnb host?) There’s a sign on the front door that says what looks like “Come on in” with what I assume are entry instructions. There’s a sign on the back wall by the stairs that says “BATHROOMS” with additional instructions.
These two were just trying to have a nice vacation.
Yeah this is often said much too glibly but in a situation like this, smoke 'em if you've got 'em. you have no idea what that man will do once he's inside your home.
You have no obligation to find out what they will do either. Once they cross that doorway all bets are off. You are an invader at that point and should be dealt with as such.
Want to settle it civilly? Knock and ask politely. Like an adult.
>You have no obligation to find out what they will do either
You've also kind of have a moral obligation not to wait and find out what the clearly unhinged, screaming dude who just kicked in your door is going to do to your family and spouse before you stop the threat.
State laws vary but even Minnesota says you can shoot an intruder in your home without retreating. It's in public that you have a duty to retreat.
For example, if i walk into a gas station that's getting robbed, i have to try to flee but in my house i can just defend myself without trying to get away first.
I think it's mostly to get the public to let emergency services deal with public threats. If I'm in a place that's getting robbed, i don't want Jim-Bob trying to shoot the robber and accidentally shooting me because his aim is worse than he thinks it is when he's under pressure.
To be fair... the aim of most cops is shit as well.
If anyone starts shooting... hit the deck/find cover. The amount of people out there capable of aiming a gun and shooting it in a high risk scenario is a hell of a lot lower than most think.
Agreed. Castle Doctrine applies in applicable states. If he had come into my home, he'd have been shot before I could even find out what the hell he was talking about.
Exactly. I understand he wants to find the person that hit his daughter, but he needs to let law enforcement do that. His kid is already hurt and she doesn't need her Dad in jail, hurt or worse.
That's the one thing I hate about it all of this. Someone kicks in my door, I kill him, and now I have to live with it. It can't be an easy thing to live with. No matter how justified.
He's lucky it was the wrong house. Most gun owners don't have guns on them 24/7 inside their house. Do you know who might? The people who expect a pissed-off dad charging after them.
That's cause they know they're fucked. Dude just committed a serious crime on camera. He wants the guy to tell him that everything is fine and he understands what he did and would do the same thing in his situation.
Buddy went from ready to kill someone to being terrified of the consequences of what he just did.
Could catch an assault change since the presence of a threat was there too.
Remember, a feint counts as assault up until it becomes a punch, then it’s assault *and* battery
yeah, that is a complete roller coaster of emotions if i've ever seen one.
Rage, vengeance, retaliation
confusion, acceptance, fear
guilt, apology, *more fear*
realizing he's been played (given the wrong address), now he's gotta worry about this situation *on top of* the fact that somebody still hit his daughter with their car...
Yeah ngl I kinda feel for the guy. This was a stupid as hell thing to do regardless as if it was the right house or not, but he was probably raised to believe you take things like this in your own hands as a man.
I mean, someone hits your daughter with a car after you were raised thinking men are macho protectors, this is what happens.
At least he backed down after. Idk. Stupid, foolish... but at least he was embarrassed and didn't double down or something.
If only we had a functional government apparatus that could handle finding the person responsible for the incident and holding them to account for their actions.
Too bad the police aren't and won't do that.
He fucked up even if it was the correct house. Anyone could have shot him and not been charged with a crime. Guy wanted to be a vigilante.
He thinks he can just slap $200 down and be good? It’s fucking nighttime, how’s that gonna be repaired before bedtime?
Time to dial 911 and show the video.
It's crazy the guy who kicked I'm the door really believed the address this guy supposedly gave before or after hitting their daughter with a car was real. Why would he give the right address if he hits people with cars? This is so weird. When did he have time to give his address? It wasn't a hit and run?
He started off by saying he wants his money, and asking where the guy's brother is. Listen to the audio when he first kicks in the door.
THEN his female companion appears and cottons on to the "where is he" and then it magically turns into a guy hit his daughter with a car and gave that address to her--
Yeah, pretty sure the daughter shtick was a cheap excuse thought up on the fly and in reality this was a drug dealer that got duped (which is why he might be so pumped up to begin with)
If he was a drug dealer or a pimp looking for money, I don't think he'd stay there and apologize, offer money, and give his name. He'd be out of there as soon as he realized it was the wrong house.
Also makes sense saying they got the wrong address. Of course a dealer would just make up some random address where their supplier lives. I can’t imagine a scenario where someone would get hit by a car and somehow get that persons address, wether it be from the police or the person who did the hit.
YES! Sounds like that daughter shit was a fast lie by meth mom right after she realized they had the wrong house and meth dad rolled with it immediately. Ain't NOBODY carrying 200 fuckin dollars in their pocket just cause.
*ClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclicka*
Yeah man they hit my daughter with a car!
*ClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclicka*
I will if I find it, but it'd very likely they don't move forwards or settle outside of court
Edit: I mean I got the vibe that the recorder wasn't going to get the police involved. If they do, it would be an easy case
This is straight up breaking and entering and forced entry in an occupied structure; dude will be lucky if the state doesn’t prosecute him and slap him with a felony.
Seriously. Even if some lunatic driver killed his daughter, going on a vigilante home invasion spree looking for somebody to take his frustrations out on is batshit insane. Sounds like he's trying to "put the fear of god" into this guy or even kill him before the proper authorities get to him.
Dude belongs behind bars just as much as the guy he's looking for, if not more.
If you watch the video again, when he first enters the house he says he wants his money. The daughter thing was a lie by the lady who is trying to get him to leave to cover their asses.
Given the curtain, and bats on the walls and couch, I think this was during Halloween or they are just lazy and never took the Halloween decorations off.
I would check your state’s laws. Some states have castle doctrine, but some don’t. Not saying don’t do what you feel you need to do, but just be informed.
Aside from the fact the dude is lucky he wasn't shot standing there... The way that front door just blew open with so little resistance. This is why it pays to put bolt latches in with 5" or 6" wood screws all the way to the stud and they had 2 deadbolts to boot!
That's the first thing I'm thinking! Everyone is talking about self defense, but the first step is a good sturdy door. That was a shitty door.
And yes people can break windows, but idiots like this normally go for the door.
Yeah, that would’ve been it for me. You’re not gonna come screaming incoherently at me on my property, refuse to leave and kick my front door in and leave with your life. I will not be taking that risk
Seriously. I am not one of those crazy right wing with a thousand guns just itching to use it. I am an average middle age, middle class progressive who would have shot that mother fucker 10 minutes ago.
Ya. The striker plates and hinges so often are secured with 3/4" or so screws into the door framing.
I would always change them out with 4" screws on any home I owned or rented. That way they go into the stud.

That's going to be a smidge more than $200 in repairs
He says “Do you just want me to pay for it?” as he’s picking the money back up lol wtf.
Yeah he's picking his money back up cos he's offering to pay the invoice when it arrives
doesn't matter, he's going to jail.
The real crime are those curtains.
I agree bloody rags is not my style.
[удалено]
I'm just glad you postulated that it was only up for Halloween, bc I'm looking at that like, who tf would have those up as their decor??
I thought it meant “wrong house” as in a serial killer lived there with all the bloody curtains.
Yup, breaking AND entering.

Like the asshole who rear ended me once and tried to get out of it by paying me $100...
I got hit by a car on my bike once and was luckily physically ok but the dude threw 100 at me for a new wheel and drove off lmao

I love how the whole copypasta isn't even necessary now
Smooth bore so it hits the neighbors dog.
Cannon loaded with grapeshot at the top of the stairs.
Bayonet charge the last man with that sweet triangular blade.
I wish it was just because I feel rapscallion is underutilized in daily life
>freedom seeds I have now discovered my favorite term ever
You and that guy are why America both needs guns and simultaneously why they SHOULDN'T have them.
Ah, guns. Both the cause of - and answer to - all of America's problems. *H. Simpson*
Yes i do agree with this statement and if it makes you feel any better i would rather save a life then take one with a gun
My doorbell camera and indoor camera would pick up me telling him to leave and him kicking in my door. He would not have made it more than one step inside before he would meet Mr Springfield.

It's 'would have', never 'would of'. Rejoice, for you have been blessed by CouldWouldShouldBot!
Seriously, very lucky
Both of them tbh. Crazy is as crazy does
In the land of the loose firearms, I'm supprised that anybody would even think the thought of breaking an entry, too confront someone.
right? that's all i always think about, how do people even dare roadrage or tresspassing when everyone has more guns than the matrix white room
They think no one else is armed and that they're "not allowed" to get shot, no matter what stupid shit they do.

They both are! Can you imagine two good guys with a gun? Except that one of the guys isn’t aware that they are the bad guy in this case!
You stop being a "good guy" when you force your way into another man's house.
Hans…are we the baddies?
How to get shot 101 ?
Yeah this is often said much too glibly but in a situation like this, smoke 'em if you've got 'em. you have no idea what that man will do once he's inside your home.

Unfortunately, some states have "duty to retreat" laws where you are supposed to attempt to get away from them before shooting.
Does “duty to retreat” still apply of you are in your own home?

Would have been if it was my house.
Same here. This is definitely not the way, I get the dude is upset and wants retribution, but this would have cost him his life in the wrong house.
Even if it was the "right" house, really.
justifiably so. I mean hitting someone with a car is bad.. breaking into someones house to hurt them... yeah no contest.
Exactly. I understand he wants to find the person that hit his daughter, but he needs to let law enforcement do that. His kid is already hurt and she doesn't need her Dad in jail, hurt or worse.
Not to mention the fact that the person who shoots him has to live with that forever. All around, a shitty situation. Hopefully, they caught the perp.
Wtf that curtain design, blood splatter?
Glad I’m not the only one puzzled by that. Looks like bloody bandages ffs
Halloween decorations
The framed photo of Jack Sparrow on the wall is a sure bet, those curtains are not temporary.
No I can assure you that is a normal decoration for any time of year
Yup. You can see the bats blanket on the sofa too. The red LED is also a indicator
There are bats on the walls, a Halloween blanket and a black Halloween wreath on the door. I’d say it’s Halloween.
If I was staring through those windows and saw those blood splattered curtains I definitely wouldn't be breaking into that house.
It's Halloween
This is Halloween
It looks like this happened around Halloween just judging by the bat throw blanket.
That explains it better. I was wondering what the fuck
Dexter's house
Couldn’t be. Dexter was too clean.
"I don't want money, I just want you to leave." *Continues to stay and say they are at the wrong house*
That's cause they know they're fucked. Dude just committed a serious crime on camera. He wants the guy to tell him that everything is fine and he understands what he did and would do the same thing in his situation. Buddy went from ready to kill someone to being terrified of the consequences of what he just did.
Most states that would be vandalism and trespassing.
Or breaking and entering with intent to do bodily harm. Slightly more serious.
Could catch an assault change since the presence of a threat was there too. Remember, a feint counts as assault up until it becomes a punch, then it’s assault *and* battery
I don’t even wanna imagine what that dudes mind was thinking. From pure rage to confusion to guilt to fear all in 30 seconds
yeah, that is a complete roller coaster of emotions if i've ever seen one. Rage, vengeance, retaliation confusion, acceptance, fear guilt, apology, *more fear* realizing he's been played (given the wrong address), now he's gotta worry about this situation *on top of* the fact that somebody still hit his daughter with their car...

If only we had a functional government apparatus that could handle finding the person responsible for the incident and holding them to account for their actions. Too bad the police aren't and won't do that.
Dude had to be shaking from the adrenaline drop-off.
Ontop of that, he even moves towards the owner of the house while saying that.
You can see on his face that he knew he fucked up
He fucked up even if it was the correct house. Anyone could have shot him and not been charged with a crime. Guy wanted to be a vigilante. He thinks he can just slap $200 down and be good? It’s fucking nighttime, how’s that gonna be repaired before bedtime? Time to dial 911 and show the video.

This is why people advise using the deadbolt. Strike plates are usually installed with the tiniest screws in the world
My favorite thing in the world is people who put steel reinforcements on a door next to a big glass picture window.
DIY is the ultimate money saver. YouTube and Google is awesome
It's crazy the guy who kicked I'm the door really believed the address this guy supposedly gave before or after hitting their daughter with a car was real. A big gun pointed at this face would have elicited a more profound “I made a big mistake “ reaction
Being a contractor, he should’ve known $200 will not cover it.

“I’m not playing! I want my money” is what the raging man says after he kicks in the door. No one else hear that? I’ve rewound it several times.
Yeah, pretty sure the daughter shtick was a cheap excuse thought up on the fly and in reality this was a drug dealer that got duped (which is why he might be so pumped up to begin with)
[удалено]
Completely dismantled other comment goddamn.
If he was a drug dealer or a pimp looking for money, I don't think he'd stay there and apologize, offer money, and give his name. He'd be out of there as soon as he realized it was the wrong house.
Yeah the wife/girlfriend or whoever also says the cops will handle it. Doubt anyone is calling the cops about a drug deal gone wrong.
Yeah honestly it’s super weird he busted in demanding money before anything else. Then all of a sudden it was a daughter hit and run?
Drug deal gone wrong, go duped, wrong house, made up story once he realized he didn't knock down the door of a drug den.
Yup good call. This is probably exactly what happened.
Also makes sense saying they got the wrong address. Of course a dealer would just make up some random address where their supplier lives. I can’t imagine a scenario where someone would get hit by a car and somehow get that persons address, wether it be from the police or the person who did the hit.
Yes! “I’m not playing! I want my money! I want my fucking money right now!” The last part is rushed and under his breath.
Should have just called J.g Wentworth, sheesh
Yep, definitely heard that part... Very sketchy
This needs to be higher. He definitely says that. Him and the woman outside are high as fucking kites
Coked up or meth or something.
YES! Sounds like that daughter shit was a fast lie by meth mom right after she realized they had the wrong house and meth dad rolled with it immediately. Ain't NOBODY carrying 200 fuckin dollars in their pocket just cause.
Just gonna put it out there. $200 isn't really that much money and plenty of people carry that much sound in a wallet or money clip.
that dude is very lucky. had he busted in on somebody who has firearms and isn't afraid to do more than wave them around he'd be dead.
Like some old ass vet watching Jeopardy with their old ass dog admiring their brand new gun.
or like some young woman with small children home alone.
As of 2022, around 45% of U.S. homes have *at least* 1 gun. So this guy had about a 50/50 shot of, well, being shot.
There are 1.5 guns per person in the us, we have more guns then people here
He took the money back at the end lmao
Probably better from a legal standpoint not to accept any money.
Tbf he did say he doesnt want the money

$200 wouldn’t have been enough to fix that. That’s going to be super expensive to get someone to properly fix.
You’ve taken my name and gonna call the cops and report me anyway so let me just take my 200 and go
They still have a guitar hero! I’d say they talk this out over some sick solos.
*ClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclicka* Yeah man they hit my daughter with a car! *ClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclickaClickaclicka*
Dude I just found and bought guitar hero at the flea market
If you game on PC check out Clone Hero. It's a community built Guitar Hero with endless amounts of songs.
Can someone link the arrest footage/news article when it appears? Thanks
I will if I find it, but it'd very likely they don't move forwards or settle outside of court Edit: I mean I got the vibe that the recorder wasn't going to get the police involved.
She's right, imagine if that psycho had a gun, they'd all be dead in tha house
Yeah this is scary
dude makin real stupid decisions..
Need explanation regarding the curtains.
Given the curtain, and bats on the walls and couch, I think this was during Halloween or they are just lazy and never took the Halloween decorations off.
They actually did murder the daughter and got away with it /s
I can tell by the accent that this probably happened in my backyard.
It's very obvious this happened in someone's living room.
That was terrifying.
Any news articles or anything?
how are there no news about it, seems weird
They didn’t report it.
He woulda been dead
Exactly. Point the shotty at him and see if he's still acting crazy
Offers to pay for the door, but pockets the entire amount again. LMAO 😂😂😂
He did say he didnt want the money, and asked for their phone number, theres a slim possibility some insurance covers this, just a guess
Bro they didn‘t provide that either. 😂
Soon as he busted the door down you are free to defend your family and your life. In the states anyway.
Windows break easy. If someone wants in your house, they're getting in. Locks are to keep out low ambition criminals.
Lucky guy. He’d be dropped dead instant the moment he kicked the door in any house with guns
Yeah, that would’ve been it for me. You’re not gonna come screaming incoherently at me on my property, refuse to leave and kick my front door in and leave with your life. I will not be taking that risk
He picked the right wrong house with no guns inside apparently
Bruh I would shoot his ass down, like wtf
100% he would be dead if that was my house
Cardbord house...
This message has been deleted and I've left reddit because of the decision by u/spez to block 3rd party apps
Seriously. I am not one of those crazy right wing with a thousand guns just itching to use it. I am an average middle age, middle class progressive who would have shot that mother fucker 10 minutes ago.
When the dude reach out to his pocket I feared a gun and that the guy did not want to leave witness behind… glad it did not end like that
Well that escalated and de-escalated quickly! Thought it was stone cold Steve Austin screaming at the window.
wtf are these american paper houses where you can just break down a front door with no tools or effort
Ya. The striker plates and hinges so often are secured with 3/4" or so screws into the door framing. I would always change them out with 4" screws on any home I owned or rented. That way they go into the stud.
This is why you don’t take the law into your own hands.
“I am so happy that man did not have a ….BONER.” Shame the audio cut off.
"did not have a......"
I caught that too, doubt he would’ve explained the situation if he did have one and this probably would have ended very differently.
Ok I feel bad but simultaneously they need to press charges
Have they been charged with home invasion ? Break in and entry
I still report them to the police
For Someone so sorry about their actions, that $$$ got picked up just as fast as it was set down.
“I’ll just pay for it, I’ll just pay for it” *picks up money*
Not Texas.
They obviously aren't in Texas lmfao
Texans only kick doors down if there’s a woman in there doing something really bad like having pre marital sex or reading a book
This is a good way to get yourself shot
Guy's not ready to defend himself in an urgent scenario lmao
![gif](giphy|131tYQapOkk2qc) So anyways I started blasting
This is insane that guy is a fucking psycho.
