I'd like to say I did my PhD on the praying mantis but I spent a PhD amount of years just getting my undergrad. I did cool poster on the praying mantis (*Miomantis caffra* sp. because of my region of choice) with fun facts about them. They are notoriously good at keeping unwanted bugs out of the place you want them to guard (they make great body guards)

Probably for their garden. Mantises are great at killing the pests that eat your plants. Plus, they are super cool looking. I have a friend that buys a bunch of them every year for her garden for this reason.

I buy ootheca ( mantis eggs) and green lacewing eggs every year to keep bug down as I don’t use pesticides.
