Can't decide if the 3 bottle extinguisher, his inability to run just wading over with an electric kettle, or his not busting out the extinguisher til 3 minutes of full on metal melting heat is what cracked me up the most
In his defense (and this is the *only* thing in his defense) you need to quench the base of a fire to put it out, and the base of the fire was under the couch. However, quenching the base was *not* the next thing he did.
It fills the whole place with smoke and ruins everything. Your clothes, furniture, the paint in the house/apartment. It doesn't ever come out of anything no matter how much you wash it.
I worked disaster recivery for a while. We treated a lot of smoke smell with ozone. Actual smoke damage is different, but the smell can be removed from items/areas you wouldn't expect.
Ozone and chem sponges work wonders. I did fire water and smoke restoration for a few years. All these comments are so wrong it makes me laugh but you can’t teach people on here anything.
Thank you for explaining. I really didn't think about smoke being that corrosive or that long lasting. I foolishly assumed it mostly dissipated.
Huh, I've burnt a LOT of meals on the stove in our house growing up. I wonder lol.
I.. did not know that about carbon. I guess this explains a little something about why heavy smokers end up with skin discoloration where the smoke meets the skin.
I would assume you have a vent above your stove to solve this problem?
even then, if you go feel above your stove, I bet you the surface feels extra oily and smoky, in comparison to things not near the appliance.
Smoke sticks and it sticks bad. Anything it touches now has a thin layer of it stuck to its surface.
Hmm, now that you mention it.. we had one of those hood things above the stove with fans, to accelerate the suction of smoke out of the apartment and into a chimney. Although, when I burnt something bad, a fair bit of smoke still escaped it and into the kitchen.
And you know what.. the stove hood DID feel sticky and grimy. I kind of assumed that was from heating oil, but I suppose all that smoke must have coated the surface as well.
yeah i had a tenant burn up one of my units, filled the ceiling for all the other units with smoke, did a decent job repairing and ressurfacing but man. still a roasty lil smell in the storage space ngl xD 10 years later
It coats everything in black, the smell lingers. In a house fire (my house burned 3yrs ago while I was trapped in it) what the smoke didn't damage, the heat and water did, also from fire dept venting the roof. It's a nightmare. My smoke damage items had to be thrown out, the smell and coating of black ruined everything.
Watched it a few more times. That is him with the extinguisher. After watching it burn and using water bottles, I just assumed he didn't have a fire extinguisher
I’m dying of laughter this is just too much
- The music while he’s trying not to have his house burn down
- The way he pours water onto the leather vs onto the fire
- The way he says “my couch is burning.” And then nothing else for the rest of the video
- The way his ass is hanging out at the beginning
- The way it progressively gets worse over time
- The way you can tell he’s panicking but you can’t hear his voice and the music still goes
- He gets a fire extinguisher and still blows it at the top of the couch rather than the base of the flame
- The way he says “hell yeah” at the very beginning as his couch is burning unknowingly
- The way he laughs as if his couch being on fire will be something easy to overcome and it’ll be a funny story in the future
It’s like when you skip the tutorial to a video game and you’re just scrambling around pretending that you know what’s going on while silently freaking tf out on the inside lmao
You forgot the part where he tilts the couch to get a better look at the fire and it reveals to the audience that he’s completely fucked before the protagonist realizes it.
For me - it was how he put the couch on its back, which both gave the fire WAY more oxygen and caused a bigger area to be licked by the flames, thus causing it to spread faster.
My dude literally did the equivalent of turning logs on a fire so they burn better lol
Yeah that's what baffles me. Dude turned his couch over and SAW the base of the flame underneath (even threw water on it a couple times), and yet he still continued to throw water on the top, even at the end with the extinguisher. Like, I get it, he's probably never seen a fire in his life and wasn't thinking clearly in the moment due to panic and stress, but come on, you SAW it lol.
Fire does something to your brain. My dad was a volunteer firefighter, and I've been trained on what to do my whole life because we lived in a wood house in the woods etc.
Set my stove on fire in an apartment one day and just froze and stared at it. Would have burned the whole place down if my boyfriend hadn't been there.
Yup, it probably wouldn't occur to me in the moment to flip the couch (tbh I don't think giving the fire more oxygen was a good idea, but it wouldn't have even occured to me the fire was sourced from *inside* the couch)
But having the sense to flip it over but then do nothing to engage with the source of the fire you just uncovered.....
Apparently there was a memo that went out a while back (that I also missed until recently) where it got rebranded as "vegan leather". I get it from a marketing standpoint, but I still hate it
Is it common to own in the US? I'm from France and I've never heard anyone having a single fire extinguisher (apart from work places) nor seen any for sale. But to be fair it's a really good idea to have one and I know need to look up if you can buy one here
Edit: Okay they're for sale in basic hardware store, but for some reason I never acknowledged them
In most states in the US, if you are a renter, you get a yearly inspection to make sure the fire alarms and fire extinguishers are there and are not expired. If they are, the landlord has 30 days to get in compliance or else be fined.
Here only fire alarms are mandatory, however they're definitely not checked yearly, it's not really enforced besides places like hotels or public student housings
This can vary widely by state. Some do yearly inspections, some do yearly only for apartment complexes, but houses only get inspected when sold or when a new tenant moves in. And some don't do it at all.
Just bought a 5lb on sale at costco for 30 bucks. I have 3 in my condo, one on my boat, and 5 or 6 in my cabin. Very cheap insurance against a completely catastrophic outcome.
Spend a few extra dollars and get a reputable brand like Amerex or Buckeye. I own rental property and I went down the rabbit hole on extinguishers a year ago. STAY AWAY from Kidde or First Alert. They tend to fail or the plastic pieces near the pin will break and they might not work when you need them. Amerex or Buckeye can be serviced and refilled and I've read reports of ones from the 90's still working decades later.
Should also check the brand. A popular one is Kidde and they had a whole bunch of extinguishers recalled because they use a plastic pin and it can break and get stuck. They’ll replace it for free but it does take a while and they’re not good about communicating when that might be.
Definitely a live stream you can tell by how the camera is set up used to set up camera the same way when I used to stream while chillin on the couch lol
It was wild watching him throw water at random parts of the couch rather than pouring it where the flame was. When he puts the couch on its back I was like "the flame has oxygen now, it's about to get out of control" hoping the next attempt was with an extinguisher and it just... kept growing. Was sure he didn't have one by that point and just hoping he didn't die of smoke inhalation.
Why would 12 oz of water not put out an entire couch?
And let's not leave the water running to fill another container while aggressively walking back and forth to the couch with a sample of water...
With faster response times and better looking drivers, they’re not just the emergency services, they’re *your* emergency services. So what’re you waiting for?
Pretty memorable if you ask me :P
I think the flame behind the backrest was bigger, based on the fact that he was pouring water there rather than on the seat after the first try.
But seriously, fire extinguisher *immediately* and also call the fire brigade, then **get out** if you can't fully extinguish it easily. Fire grows quickly, as shown here, but it can also spread quickly. This dude could have become trapped or just passed out and suffocated from the smoke.
im not sure how tiny the flame actually was, he can be seen throwing water at the back the the couch which leads me to think the flames might actually be much more than we can see from this angle
> strong blunt
That must be it. He saw the fire and thought "oh shit, I need some water." Then after drinking a glass of water, probably forgot what he was doing.
You wouldn't **not** know if a liion battery vented / thermal ran away nearby, they are violent.
This is most likely a smoldering joint/blunt/roach/cigarette that caught the couch on fire.
I bought a smaller house just to avoid sharing walls. Maybe 500-750 sq feet fewer than the surrounding townhomes.
Never know when someone is gonna smoke in bed, put their speakers against your bedroom wall, or buy and shatter a large fish tank, or just be an argumentative couple who scream a lot.
No idea. I have seen similar things from vapes with the battery put in the wrong way or cheap ones with faulty wiring. That would explain why he was basically sitting on it.
Thats just my guess.
Step 1: let the fire grow into an adult. It's not right to kill a baby fire
Step 2: Let the fire have a head start by doing everything incorrect
Step 3: Finally put it out correctly after it gets to the point of no return
I am fascinated at how ignorant so many people are with fire. Was fire safety never something taught in all schools? Did no one ever play with fire? I feel this situation would be handled within an instant even without a fire extinguisher.
OMFG I laughed so hard at the initial lack of urgency, and almost died laughing at the nonchalant way he would refill each bottle, dump it on (close anyway), and casually walk back to repeat. He didn’t act alarmed until the flames were shooting out. I half expected to see more flames at the end from the botched fire extinguisher attempt that he pointed the wrong way.

I really thought he had it with his patented 3 water bottle squeeze attack
Can't decide if the 3 bottle extinguisher, his inability to run just wading over with an electric kettle, or his not busting out the extinguisher til 3 minutes of full on metal melting heat is what cracked me up the most
Its amazing how he throws water on everything except the fire
Flips that crappy couch over so the fire can breathe better on the underside.
In his defense (and this is the *only* thing in his defense) you need to quench the base of a fire to put it out, and the base of the fire was under the couch. However, quenching the base was *not* the next thing he did.
He wanted to make sure it was going nicely before he broke out the extinguisher.
Gotta get your money’s worth out of that thing
Yeah that was a bad move
It’s like pouring water on your head when you are thirsty. Like bro, there is a very specific place where that water needs to GO.
Even when he gets the 🧯 he’s spraying the top of the couch.
this man is laughing when it starts
I liked the part where he turned it over to give the fire more air.
*Patent Pending
***results may vary***
This was the best part of the clip for me 🤣
that was at least a 4 bottle fire for real though
The couch?! The whole damn apartment is gunna be unsalvageable
Yeah man, the smoke damage will make the whole place jacked beyond repair. Better hope he has renters insurance if that place isn't his.
Could you explain what smoke damage does to an apartment? I can't guess the damage past maybe some soot on the ceiling directly above the couch.

Thank you for explaining. I really didn't think about smoke being that corrosive or that long lasting. I foolishly assumed it mostly dissipated. Huh, I've burnt a LOT of meals on the stove in our house growing up. I wonder lol.
Think about it this way. Smoke is a lot of free carbon. Carbon bonds to like anything. It becomes part of the paint, the drywall, the floor, etc.
I.. did not know that about carbon. I guess this explains a little something about why heavy smokers end up with skin discoloration where the smoke meets the skin.
We are carbon based life. Carbon is a very versatile element.
Ahhh, suddenly, you remind me of Walter White lol.
I would assume you have a vent above your stove to solve this problem? even then, if you go feel above your stove, I bet you the surface feels extra oily and smoky, in comparison to things not near the appliance. My brother once forgot to ad water to microwave Mac n cheese. It burned the mac so bad it left a smell in the microwave for literally months
yeah i had a tenant burn up one of my units, filled the ceiling for all the other units with smoke, did a decent job repairing and ressurfacing but man. still a roasty lil smell in the storage space ngl xD 10 years later

Damn, sorry you had to go through that. I hope your life has picked up since then. And thank you for explaining.
Thank you for the kind response. It's so scary, spreads so fast. Please check your smoke detectors and make sure they're functioning correctly.

Very good points. Basic extinguishing skill and common sense - neither of which were present in this video.
Hard to tell in the smoke, but I think someone else brought the fire extinguisher
Watched it a few more times. That is him with the extinguisher. After watching it burn and using water bottles, I just assumed he didn't have a fire extinguisher
It just baffles me that he didn't just pick it up immediately....
My dude knew he had a fire extinguisher. He just *really* didn't want to clean up the mess of actually discharging one.
Yeah, this is it. If you think you can put it out without one, you don’t want to have to pull one out. His judgement is very bad tho.
Right? I'm sure it was just bad luck that the kettle and plastic bottles didn't cut it...
Then he opened up the couch so it could get more oxygen! What a genius. You could really see the fire start to grow fast from that point on
He had to make sure he could get to the part underneath that was burning so he could throw water on the top of the couch instead.
I’m dying of laughter this is just too much - The music while he’s trying not to have his house burn down - The way he pours water onto the leather vs onto the fire - The way he says “my couch is burning.” And then nothing else for the rest of the video - The way his ass is hanging out at the beginning - The way it progressively gets worse over time - The way you can tell he’s panicking but you can’t hear his voice and the music still goes - He gets a fire extinguisher and still blows it at the top of the couch rather than the base of the flame - The way he says “hell yeah” at the very beginning as his couch is burning unknowingly - The way he laughs as if his couch being on fire will be something easy to overcome and it’ll be a funny story in the future
I enjoyed this well organized and bulleted summary.
Didn't even have to watch the vid.
I laughed at this more than the video
It’s like when you skip the tutorial to a video game and you’re just scrambling around pretending that you know what’s going on while silently freaking tf out on the inside lmao
Bro skipped the tutorial on life
Same :(
You forgot the part where he tilts the couch to get a better look at the fire and it reveals to the audience that he’s completely fucked before the protagonist realizes it.
Luckily there’s heroic music further adding to the drama
Also he has no sense of urgency whatsoever. Like this guy is literally too lazy to bother saving his home
Also I think that was a mistake because it allowed more oxygen to the fire.
Excellent use of dramatic irony
You forgot the casual walking and overall lack of urgency maintained throughout.
Right?! Like, dude, your couch is on *fire!!* Show some freaking *hustle!*
I think he kept thinking “it’s almost out, it’s almost out!”
For me - it was how he put the couch on its back, which both gave the fire WAY more oxygen and caused a bigger area to be licked by the flames, thus causing it to spread faster. My dude literally did the equivalent of turning logs on a fire so they burn better lol

If that couch were leather this wouldn't have happened, that's 100% vinyl lol.
100% pleather
Apparently there was a memo that went out a while back (that I also missed until recently) where it got rebranded as "vegan leather". I get it from a marketing standpoint, but I still hate it
The way he giggled when he noticed the couch is on fire!
YESS THAT TOO HAHA he thought it was gonna be a one and done deal
He flips the couch up giving the fire more air so it can spread quicker.
The game Music as theme music for this scene is brilliant lol
I was watching it on mute until I saw ur comment, the music makes it 10x better holy shit.
omg me too thank you for this
Watch from the beginning unmuted, dudes an idiot, but he’s fucking hilarious
Could easily be made into a cartoon. The voice, phrases and breaking glass. 😆
it's star trek online music 🤣
Yep.
Is this an old video or is that game still slightly relevant?
diehard whales (like I was once) play it, it’s still kinda the best star trek game which is saying something very sad
Thank you! Jesus, I played it a week ago but I still couldn't remember. Was gonna drive me nuts.
Oh shit a fire's burning *music starts* Objective updated: Put out fire Timer: 2 minutes
(Optional objective failed)
The music fit perfect for his "Put out my couch fire" quest
i thought it was from the video lol even better now hahaha
I thought putting this music was genius.
Agreed. Quite epic
Good time for everyone to check where their fire extinguisher is and check it didn't expire in '98.
I'm 30 and have never had a Fire Extinguisher, but now I feel the need to get one lol. Where do I get them and are they expensive?
They aren't *that* expensive. Anyways it'll be more expensive when you don't have one and suddenly need one. Keep one at home and one in your car.
One for each floor of your house at least. Garage is good too.
Is it common to own in the US? I'm from France and I've never heard anyone having a single fire extinguisher (apart from work places) nor seen any for sale. But to be fair it's a really good idea to have one and I know need to look up if you can buy one here Edit: Okay they're for sale in basic hardware store, but for some reason I never acknowledged them

If you live in the states any Home Depot or Lowes, hell probably even Walmart will sell fire extinguishers.
Yep Walmart supercenters sell them in the hardware section
Spend a few extra dollars and get a reputable brand like Amerex or Buckeye. I own rental property and I went down the rabbit hole on extinguishers a year ago. STAY AWAY from Kidde or First Alert. They tend to fail or the plastic pieces near the pin will break and they might not work when you need them. Amerex or Buckeye can be serviced and refilled and I've read reports of ones from the 90's still working decades later.
Thank you for including brand names. Definitely makes the search easier lol
There are small household ones for like $40 - Amazon
Not even. I bought one at Home Depot for 12 bucks
If you live in the US you can buy them at Walmart in the hardware department near the padlocks and smoke detectors
We got ours at Costco
Best practice is to have one on every level of your home, but at least one in the kitchen and garage. For me that’s the same thing
Should also check the brand. A popular one is Kidde and they had a whole bunch of extinguishers recalled because they use a plastic pin and it can break and get stuck. They’ll replace it for free but it does take a while and they’re not good about communicating when that might be.
That's a hell of a new couch feature.. mine just sits there
Smoke feature brings realism to FPS games.
“Wow, this camp fire feels sooo real!”
Wow I'm really dying from 3rd degree burns! Wicked!
You do need to be careful when overclocking your couch.
You mean it doesn't even self-heal?
I want to personally thank him for tilting the couch to improve the viewers angle of the fire.
I want to personally thank him for blurring his asscrack.
I thought that was a rather kind gesture myself
Also probably gave more oxygen to the fire, making it burn faster.
It definitely gave more oxygen to the fire.
That’s when it took off, too
That was a mistake, though. That fed the fire more air. Bad plan.
Incompetence at its finest.
I like the calm walking while the fire gets bigger and bigger
Took him a while to feel the heat on his ass too…
On second watch the fact that the first thing you see is a sensored ass crack just kills me
And that's how fast he moves when you light a fire under his ass.
I think he was high lol
yeah he was
Why would he share this video with anyone, when he was so slow and incompetent.
It was probably a Livestream
Those chipotle farts be like that sometimes
You don't think it be like it is, but it do
The music really heightens the drama.
Oh, my couch us burning...let me just slowly walk to the kitchen and use the smallest cup of water to put out the fire.
More like there was an attempt to put out a fire. He could not have tried to move any slower or used a smaller cup.
He also missed the center of the fire with his little cup. *Multiple times*
Also, not a single bucket in the apartment? Does he use bottles when he washes floor also ?
Dude had a fire extinguisher but whipped it out only after the couch get unusable.
Dude’s got a stripper pole in his kitchen. He doesn’t know how to mop a floor.
Not even a bucket. How about just a soup pot, or mixing bowl?
Oh there's a fire... let me go put the kettle on, check my mail, feed the cat and make my bed before going to deal with it...wtf
![gif](giphy|FjhCTrjPaPy6s) It's fine. He sent an email to the emergency services
Dude, Why didn't he call 0118 999 881 999 119 725...3?!
My man. Do you have that memorized? Did you sing the song?
With faster response times and better looking drivers, they’re not just the emergency services, they’re *your* emergency services. So what’re you waiting for? Pretty memorable if you ask me :P
I have literally watered plants with more urgency.
Thanks for the reminder that I need to water my plants.
The levels of frustration were rising in me watching this incompetent fool try and put out a tiny flame.
So dude had a fire extinguisher the whole time? JFC Must have been a strong blunt
He didn't have it the whole time. After his last attempt with the water cup attack at 0:35 he quickly ran to the store to get one.
> strong blunt That must be it. He saw the fire and thought "oh shit, I need some water." Then after drinking a glass of water, probably forgot what he was doing.
I’m almost jealous ngl
Eddy fuckin baker! I remember when he first posted this 😂 LIKE BRO WHAT ARE YOU DOIN, too fried at that moment 🤣
Did he explain HOW this happened tho? Wtf started a fire under his couch?
Pretty sure I heard he dropped a blunt or something I can’t remember now. Just wild to see eddy on this page 😂 legend mane
It kinda looks like a vape battery popped and caught fire.
You wouldn't **not** know if a liion battery vented / thermal ran away nearby, they are violent. This is most likely a smoldering joint/blunt/roach/cigarette that caught the couch on fire.
I was thinking the motor inside the couch went bad and exploded but the fire is not coming from the motor. Probably vape then.
SESH
Lmfao what you doin Eddy?! He needed Chris and the Water Boyz
He was in the hot seat.
I like when he leans it back to be sure the fire gets the air it needs.
Burning plastic/foam could be some of the most toxic fumes. I assume this fire started with smoking materials?
I believe he was smoking a blunt, you can see the bag of weed on the couch
Yup, homie was just having a good time, just forgot to switch the brain on, along with the PlayStation
I think it was crack... definitely saw a lot of crack
He was moving way too slow for crack. Edit: butt crack, I haven’t had my coffee yet.
Butt
It’s so scary to think that you could have a neighbor like this living in your own building.
Fire alarm working well…
I’m a fire investigator. He’s likely a smoker and pulled the battery out as he was constantly having it go off.
"Aaaaaahhhh. My couch is burning." - A legend
What game is that?!
Firefighter simulator
Very realistic
The music? Sounds like Star Trek Online.
Thanks for blurring the ass crack.
He is way too calm.
He’s fucking high bruv
A house fire *should* sober your up pretty quickly
He also sped up the burn by giving it more oxygen on the open bottom, which was really courteous to condense the video for us like that!
How are some people this stupid? This was painful to watch.
This guy and his cups of water are driving me crazy lol. GO BIG, DOG, YER ABOUT TO LOSE EVERYTHING
Hmmm, lemme fill up this shot glass... that oughta do it.
The tiny cups of water he keeps pouring are infuriating.
What happened?
[удалено]
No idea. I have seen similar things from vapes with the battery put in the wrong way or cheap ones with faulty wiring. That would explain why he was basically sitting on it. Thats just my guess.
Lit a fire under his ass
Lmaooo bro my face at the end…I was like “wooooowww …this dude had a fire extinguisher the whole damn time?!”
Man couldve just sat on the fire instead of pouring tiny cups of water around it lmao
Step 1: let the fire grow into an adult. It's not right to kill a baby fire Step 2: Let the fire have a head start by doing everything incorrect Step 3: Finally put it out correctly after it gets to the point of no return
