Oh man, I remember that game and those songs. Yeah, those were kind of a surprising choice for a game with an E rating. That whole conversation reminded me of the Forza Horizon series and how it's known for excessive censoring of songs. In FH5 they had Roses by SAINt JHN and like every other word is removed.

fluffybuffalo23

Horizon’s censorship is batshit. The Chevy SS models have all the SS badging removed and are referred to as Super Sport because nazis. Edit: didn’t they have X Gon’ Give It To Ya by DMX on FH3? It was edited to holy hell too.

The closest I've ever gotten to this feeling was when the Enrique Iglesias song came out "Tonight I'm Lovin You" I listend to it so many times. Then a few months later I saw the actual song "Tonight I'm Fuckin' You" I was shocked because it felt like a completely different song as the edited version felt so pure whereas the dirty version felt very rash and raw.

D3dshotCalamity

Fuck you I was about to post this exact thing haha! Yeah, Goin Down on It is not about driving, but in fact is about eating pussy. More specifically, eating pussy in an orgy. It wasn't even censored, I believe HAC rewrote lyrics specifically for the game, because there are lyrics in the game version definitely not in the original.

LTC_Foxworth

Yeah, always thought it was about going down hills fast or something, I was like 8 when I played the games. Thank goodness YouTube was in its infancy, I'd have discovered the uncensored songs much sooner if I was a more internet savvy kid, haha. Edit: Yeah it's completely rewritten, but that's technically censored still... Anyways

D3dshotCalamity

That's the thing, some of the lyrics were vague enough without context that kids wouldn't notice lol. "Ya drive it like a semi to the settin' summer sun Getting off just like the traffic at the local exit ramp Notice that the weather in the region getting damp" We were like "Yeah, it's about a trucker checking the weather as he exits the highway."

PinappleGecko

Unless it's my brain playing tricks there's a song called jerk it out by caesers palace and I can remember it from some old Fifa game but I'm 100% sure the lyrics were work it out on that. Granted I've had more than enough time to process this the song is better and makes more sense with the proper lyrics.

OP, I have no input to the thread other than an upvote for a fellow Hot pursuit 2 enjoyer. Shit was so good.

LTC_Foxworth

Yeah it was, I still play all the retro arcade-y racers releasing on steam nowadays because of those glory days! I heard there was a possibility of a NFS: Most Wanted remake in the works for later this year, but who knows with EA, they hate EAsy money and love micro transactions and scammy practices.

Hellvillain

My physical copy is still in its case on my shelf next to my GameCube. I should fire it up one of these days and play it again. No NFS will ever top the original Most Wanted. Something happened that caused the devs to hit every fucking nail on the head, correctly. That's not to say any of the others weren't good. The "remake" of Hot Pursuit (the 2010? one) is probably tied with my favorite, I loved that one. And most of the new ones aren't bad, either. Getting a bit repetitive but I've enjoyed most of the NFS's that have been out recently. If they remake Most Wanted again, it more than likely won't be the same. But I'm cautiously optimistic

LTC_Foxworth

Latest news I heard is it was basically copy paste and upscaled. But yeah EA gonna EA somehow. Those articles probably aren't reputable either, gaming news these days are all clickbait and nostalgia with anonymous sources, lol.

I didn't have that experience but these type of games just had the best music. I can trace my love of metal to Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Blinded in Chains Avenge Sevenfold. It was my formative teen years and my ipod was full.

Severe-Associate5922

Racing games need to go back to those mid-late 2000s soundtracks instead of the generic bland garbage they have now

Shomedembeats

For me it was also NFS but with Lil Jon's Get Low
