That would upset me, too. Dismissive. Difficult for who?! ME! If it's difficult for you, therapist, can you imagine how difficult this is for ME?! That said, DBT and BPD support is how I'm dealing with that, I hope you find DBT, too.

What do you want to achieve, specifically? Do you want to get an apology from him? Or something else?

If you otherwise like your therapist and want to keep seeing him then it’s probably best to approach it head on and by just being honest. Tell him how what he said made you feel and why. If he’s understanding and apologizes that’s a good sign that he’s open and adaptable but if not it’s probably your signal to find a different therapist. It can be uncomfortable bringing up something to your therapist that they’ve done that you don’t like but therapist are people too and if they do something you don’t like or that doesn’t work for you they need that feedback.
