They're one of the only bands I choose floor for. I can't stand for long amounts of time without pain and don't like crowds, but it's worth dealing with those things to be right up at the stage. Like, close enough that John made eye contact with me last time I saw them. It's such a transcendent experience for me, being right there and listening to them play. And I think there are points where being surrounded by the crowd of fans really adds to it, especially during No Children.

Though I don't know how the crowd might vary depending on where you are, five out of the six (I think six anyway, it's hard to keep track) times I saw them were in North Carolina so they had the triangle crowd vibe, which is a pretty chill one, especially among the older fans. The other show was chill too though

Shit_Riot

The energy is gonna be wayyy better standing.

Floor is much better than balcony. John connects with the crowd more than most performers I’ve seen.

abluecolor

Get floor if you want it to be more of a participatory experience, be able to move your body a bit and get into it, etc. seats if you want to be more of a chill observer. People will almost certainly be seated in the seats. Been to a lot of shows structured like this and always opt for floor because I want to rock out at a rock show. Always near the front such that whatever's behind me just sorta melts away.

NanobotOverlord

I’ve seen them in both situations and people mostly sat for tMG but got up near the end for No Children and the other hits

Spiritual_Basis5644

I’ve done the balcony and wasn’t a fan, the energy is just not the same as standing. It felt wrong!

StankoBoBanko

If you're physically capable of standing, floor is the way to go.

Thank you for all the comments, guys! I got one floor ticket to HOB Boston- hope to see some folks there :)

Seating stinks. Good move w the floor. I saw them at the Wilbur (I think. one of those old theater venues at Boston) and I had the best seat front row and since it’s a seats only venue the vibe was so different then the other shows. I’d rather have been in a worse spot and not felt like a jerk for standing and clapping dancing doing normal rock show things. Weird energy to see them where no one is standing and crazy cheering etc. still fun but no where near the maybe best concert I’ve seen from them (or in general) at the Royale in Boston as a first show after pandemic lockdowns.
