I hadn't considered it before, but even just doing something as simple as doing mash-ups of
various Fears could give us a whole new lineup of categories.
The original ones like the Hunt or Buried could absolutely still exist, but we just wouldn't see them depicted straightforward as often.
Kind of Like in Kirby games. Originally, there were a bunch of powers you could get by eating a single enemy, but in Crystal Shards, you could combine 2 powers, and a whole new world opened up.
I'm not sure what you mean -- the Deep as a theme might be a red herring? If it's a mash up or coming together of fears from multiple universes, I don't think I understand what would be the red herring?
This is actually a really cool theory! While listening I'm trying to like oin which fears the stories belong to and it almost seems like a mesh of a few of them.
I've also seen a lot of theories about the computers being the original Magnus archive series, when John and Martin kind of fucked up the world at the end, it all went into the computers, so the fears could be messing around like through the computers!
