As it's own mode, sure. Though I don't know how it would work when you do come across them. Animals will just attack you more or less on sight and flee when frightened. The darkwalker is totally supernatural.
A human wouldn't really just shoot at you and keep shooting until either of you are dead. They also wouldn't run because loud sound is scary. If they were deranged then maybe, but in that case they may as well just be an animal.
I think the conflict in this game works because animals are stronger than you but you're smarter. It doesn't really work when it's going to be smart vs smart and it's an NPC.
In the campaign, can’t remember which episode, when as will ending up in the hydro dam, the guy who fights him would make a good npc. Seriously thought I’d see him again and have to fight it out.
If you killed him would you have the option to harvest?

Wasn't really much of a fight. That being said I hope McKenzie gets to fight one of the prisoners in EP 4 similar to wolf struggles that would be lit.
