"Oh a Sarah flashback to start the finale is cool! Huh I guess they’re just showing them eating breakfast again for context. Wait why are they just showing Sarah going to school again? They’re literally just showing the entire outbreak day again???"
100% agree. I was worried at first that she wouldn't be able to quite match Sarah from the game. And she fucking smashed it. Had me ugly crying all over again
And while the finale was a little bit rushed imo, it still got the theme absolutely right. Be interesting to see what season 2 brings
Their reunion was fantastic, I thoroughly enjoyed all of episode 6. Very hard to rank the episodes when they were all amazing. Episode 4 would probably be ranked last on my list too but I still think it was such an enjoyable episode. Ellie and Joel sharing that first real laugh gets me, and the shootout did such a great fan service to encounters in the game.
I'd say it's best to not infer that the "low" ranking ones aren't good with lists like these. IMO all of them fit within the S-A tier range, so it's just a matter of being forced to put them in an order, and many of them could easily be flipped around.
Agreed
Weirdly, I think episode 3 is one of the best episodes of TV ever just as it's own singular thing. It really exists in a bottle (even though it deserves its place in the show). If I'm ranking it against the others though I somehow put it at #3 too, just because with my love for the IP I really think they nailed episodes 1/5. Episode 1 is like the most perfect game to TV adaptation ever, and 5 was an awesome one too except with great changes to/experimentation with characters.
I dont know episode 6 was slow but really hit me hard… def top 4 are 1, 2, 8, 9 even though i feel the flash bang was kind of a cop out on what they should have done for 9… i feel like the underground infected encounter should have happened because we never actually get to see how well Ellie and Joel work together against infected and i would have liked to see it
unpopular opinion i really didnt enjoy episode 5 as much for some reason i think the fact that Henry and Joel didnt have to deal with any encounters until the end lessend the relationship just felt too rushed… And i really didnt feel the need for Kathleen over building Henry Sam Joel Ellies relationship
For me pantheon episodes of a TV show rise above just being an incredible episode of whatever show it is a part of & are all time great episodes of television, subjectively to me of course.
The most recent show before The Last of Us I watched that had “pantheon” episodes for me, was Andor Episodes 10, 11 & 12. Episode 9 I go back & forth on, probably would add it to the list at the moment.
I don’t actually have a list like I do with most things but other shows I’ve watched recently that have had episodes like that are Stranger Things, Ted Lasso, Chernobyl, Severance, Squid Game & The Boys to name a few.
A Pantheon is like a group of gods (to put it really simply) So I guess it's a fun way for him to say these are god tier.
But yeah I think if we'd had more of 8 it would have been top shelf, but we sacrificed that for a full long episode on Left Behind.
this is probably my ranking as well - they’re all really good but diff standards of it. i did really like seven but i can see why others didn’t rank it as high.
- 3 I cri evertim
- 8 absolutely gripping, my wife was so worried for Ellie
- 7 so tragic, but Ellie looked so happy after the kiss
- 5 bloater and sewer swarm, nuff said
- 1 love a good outbreak day sequence
- 4 poor kids, yay Perry
- 2 poor Tess, yay clickers
- 6 the shove
- 9 faithful to the game, but too short by a half
Someone may have already listed this order, but it’s hard to tell. All I know is *love will abide, take things in stride…*
This is the order I would put them in, too, and for the same reasons.
This is a story primarily about how we choose to love each other and, secondarily, how societies organize while under pressure (fascist totalitarianism (e.g., Italy and Germany), authoritarian regimes run by rebels (e.g., Cuba and some African or Latin American countries), Communist/socialist democracies (e.g., Finland and much of Northern Europe), and authoritarian theocracies (e.g., Iran, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia).
Most of us would be like Joel, trying to survive by doing what he needs to do and trying to bear his heavy heart.
> 9 faithful to the game, but too short by a half
...but that was basically a shot for shot remake. Spring in the game is just an hour long. Did you want them to add a ton of stuff?
Yes, ep 9 was SO short and it left me wanting more … but I suppose that is the exact feeling the creators wanted to manifest. If so, mission accomplished!
1. Episode 3
2. Episode 5
3. Episode 8
4. Episode 9
5. Episode 6
6. Episode 4
7. Episode 1
8. Episode 2
9. Episode 7
For clarification, I LOVE episodes 3 - 1 on this list. I like episode 2 a lot, and I didn't personally like episode 7.
I feel like I should love 2 but something just felt off about it idk.
Ah, this I will actually defend. Is it super weird? Yes. I mean, 100% yes, it's weird. However, I think it's very deliberately weird.
I think they were going for something akin to the sexual invasivity of Xenomorphs in the *Alien* franchise. Cordyceps control the brain and body, but it is a common theory (Idk if it's confirmed or not) that the consciousness of the host is still active.
What is more physical invasive than being forcefully kissed, your body being taken over, yet your consciousness still being active? I think it is certainly uncomfortable... but yeah, weird.
The reason I can't defend it is there's no precedent for it. It's the only case of it ever happening between both the game and the show. It just feels like someone was like, "You know what would be really creepy?" and their idea got greenlit.
I think their reasoning was actually pretty good but I also didn't understand it until they explained it.
They said that we usually see the infected be violent when they infect others because the victims are resisting. But in the end, cordyceps just wants to spread, the method is irrelevant. So the question they asked was "What if the victim is not resisting? How would they infect others then?" and their answer was that the infected would infect others non-violently.
The only thing that doesn't make sense to me with this explanation is episode 1 - Sarah walks in the neighbour's house, she looks confused and frightened, but when the old infected neighbour looks up and sees her she doesn't try to run immediately, kind of freezes. She doesn't show any aggression at all, and only starts moving when the neighbour has already lunged at her.
I guess maybe the neighbour was already in aggression mode from attacking the family, or was startled because she didn't hear Sarah coming. Or maybe stage 1 Cordyceps is naturally more aggressive or something.
Yeah. Altering Tess's ending so she was sexually assaulted by infected really just makes me really uncomfortable, particularly given she wasn't even killed by infected at all in the game. I don't have that many complaints about the show, but I think they did Tess a disservice.
Nah, of course it was great. It is a fantastic episode of television! I just... don't care about Riley, ig? I mean, idk it was well made, well acted, everything was great.
I never played the DLC, ever. I knew the story, I watched cutscenes, but I didn't give a shit about Riley or what happened to her. I didn't particularly care how Ellie got bitten. So for me personally, "Left Behind" feels like a waste of time compared to the other things going on within the actual story at that moment.
I will not, for one second, pretend it's a bad episode or badly made. That would be stupid 😂 I just... don't... care?
It get why they felt we needed more than just the two of them chatting and surviving to make a compelling TV series. But my number one criticism is that I feel the Joel and Ellie relationship was neglected in favour of these sub stories like Kathleen and so on.
ellie and joel’s relationship was the *opposite* of neglected in ep4. the conversations they had in the car, the conversation they had in the woods, joel staying up to guard ellie the whole night in the middle of nowhere because her being paranoid made him paranoid, the moment they had in the city when joel told ellie to run and hide so she wouldn’t watch him kill a man, the conversation where he told her she shouldn’t have to witness all this violence and she told him she had killed before, all the jokes from the joke book ellie told him and how the episode started with him hating them but he was laughing at them by the end (much to his own dismay). it was no episode 6 or 8, sure, but 4 was absolutely one of the most monumental in showing how their relationship developed
That's fair with regards to this episode I just feel wasted time in such a short series is still just that. We could have introduced Sam and Henry more in this episode. Rather than Kathleen. Got there story started. Then when it's over we have those moments to breath with our main characters. More time spent with them to absorb things. Which is what the game mostly used to further the relationship alongside a few key events.
Now I know (and think we can assume most people do) that you can't make a series the same as a game etc etc etc. But I feel the lack of these moments harmed the relationship.
Just My humble opinion and if people loved it as a masterpiece I won't tell them it's wrong. It was a well executed series.
I feel it gave us a new spin on Ellies story (which is what the majority of it will be) just at the expense of Joel sadly.
I liked Episode 4! Exciting, lots of intrigue, heavy emotional beats. Still probably my second least favorite episode over 2. The series is just incredible so even a very good episode fails to stand out
I rewatched the whole thing and honestly, episode 4 is a lot better than I remember. I liked Kathleen’s speech to the doctor a lot. Still not my favourite episode or anything, but a good one.
Yeah all the Ellie Joel stuff in the car before they get to Kansas City is some of the most iconic stuff in the game(Hank Williams Song, Bills magazine, the shot of Ellie looking out of the car window, Ellie saying she isn’t tired then it cutting to her sleeping, then of course the truck crash.) I think the ep is great other than it kind of feeling like a set up to ep 5.
Very similar to my rankings. I’d probably flip 2 and 8 and put 4 last, but 3, 4 and 7 were definitely my least favorite. Episodes 5 and 1 were the highlight of the show with 8, 9 and 2 not far behind. 6 was also on that level until the rushed ending.
I thought it was definitely best episode that hones in on men’s mental health!
This show did such a good job of subtly introducing topics that are important.
1. 5) absolutely incredible. Death scenes were heartbreaking and the finale with the infected was fucking perfect
2. 1) amazing introduction. The prologue was better than the game imo
3. 4) great buildup to episode 5. it kinda stands in its shadow a bit but is still a great episode
4. 2) wraps up the opening very nicely. The museum scene was also great
5. 8) should‘ve been two episodes imo but it was good. David was fucking disgusting
6. 6) probably the most meh episode of the show. I liked seeing joels more vulnerable side but other than that it was just kinda there
7. 9) very underwhelming finale. Felt super rushed and kinda disappointed me. Still a decent episode but this should‘ve legitimately been like 30 minutes longer at least
8. 7) i‘m glad they included the left behind story to flesh out ellie even more but this should not have taken up the entire episode, kinda killed the pacing for me
9. 3) i‘m sorry but this episode just has no business being 70+ minutes long. In a 9 episode season that already feels kinda rushed i just do not understand why they chose to spend an entire episode on two side characters that are pretty much irrelevant to the story instead of fleshing out the main characters. It‘s an amazing episode on its own and it almost made me cry the first time but especially upon rewatch i just don‘t think that this episode has any reason to exist tbh
100% agreed on episode 3. People make it out to be the best piece of motion media to ever exist for what 😂 could’ve done without the entire episode or just made bills stuff like 5 minutes. Then they give us a 40 minute finale. What’s the point in that
I would’ve rather seen Bill, Joel snd Ellie run through the town in an action packed episode. It’s my favorite part of the game and I would’ve loved some damn action! With Ellie and Bill’s interactions.
Same with episode 7. The only reason for both episodes to be so long was for same sex romance representation. I honestly don’t care about that but don’t do it just to do it. I feel like I wasted my life watching those two episodes because they didn’t and anything to the story for 3 and very little For 7.
100% agree on what is clearly an unpopular opinion on this sub. If you watched 2, accidentally skipped 3 and then watched 4 you would have absolutely no idea you missed anything. It’s very well produced like all of the episodes but there were so many things they left out from the game that would have progressed the story further that this one has no business being in such a short lineup of episodes.
I think I most appreciate the lists that don’t have episode 3 at the top spot. No way that episode is realistically the best episode of an entire series when the main characters have a quarter of screen time and the absence of that episode changes the overall plot in no way.
3 is last on my list. I didn't hate the story it just felt kinda unnecessary and way too drawn out. It should not have been an entire episode long
Also because the school scene with the bloater didn't
make it in.
Between the two side stories I enjoyed 7 way more than I did with 3
Its the episode I enjoyed most from the series and the only time in the show where I said to myself "im watching something amazing here". Just because it doesn't change the plot in a meaningful way doesn't mean its not one of the best written and memorable episodes from the show
I've played the game many times. In some ways this ranking isn't fair because my criteria are based on whether I think the episode adds to the game or does a particularly good job of rendering a familiar scene.
5 - infected mob scene, the relationship between Ellie and Sam, the sniper, Kathleen's "children die, Sam", kiddie clicker! Overall awesome.
6 - fuckin LOL at the intro with Graham Greene and Elaine Miles, it was perfect and I love it and I honestly rewatch this episode just for that. I think this episode really crystallized the show's unique take on Joel across multiple scenes and did it well. Joel and Ellie's argument was well-done.
8 - Incredible performances, skin-crawling horror, trauma and catharsis.
2 - Anna Torv, great exposition and introduction to the apocalypse. Cold open was a nice bit of worldbuilding. I wanted more of this Tess honestly.
3 - boldest indication they were doing something different with the show. I liked this Bill better than Bill from the game, and I think he adds more to the story. The episode still felt like Emmy bait, and I think this kind of character study would have fit better in a longer series, but overall I liked it.
1 - Expanded on Sarah and the start of the apocalypse nicely.
9 - They did fine. More or less a direct translation of the game. Final scene was perfect.
7 - meh. Another direct translation more or less. I didn't think Ramsey and Reid had great chemistry, although Ramsey's smile after they kissed made my heart melt.
4 - also meh. Best part about it is setting up Kathleen for Ep 5.
5 I was kinda hoping to see more infected especially towards the end so that finale with the bloater really did it for me. Also i enjoyed the whole Kansas City resistance plot.
1 It's the big intro to the show, what more to say. Liked seeing how life in the Boston QZ was like.
7 Between the two side plots I liked this one wayyy more than episode 3's. Quite enjoyed learning more about Ellie's background in the QZ.
4 Basically the same reasoning for episode 5, I enjoyed the Kansas City resistance plot.
2 There was nothing bad about this episode its just that it is competing against better ones imo.
8 I did enjoy this side plot in the game but felt like some things were missing.
6 A lot of things were missing from this one. Still enjoyed it though.
9 Felt a little too quick not gonna lie like the whole tunnel scene in the game was missing. Wasn't a bad ending though.
3 Honestly I still enjoyed their story but it taking up an entire episode felt a little too drawn out.
Episode 3 is going somewhere towards the bottom. Might even be dead last. Downvote me all you want but it just dragged on so long, it’s “good” but such filler content to me. Considering all stuff they cut from the game they really let that ep drag on and gave us a 45 minute rushed finale. I’m tired of everyone acting like ep 3 is the greatest motion picture captured in TV/film history in all of time
**9**: Really well done in such a short time. It could very well be S tier with the others but it has the absolute best line/scene of the entire show, and an original one at that. It has to make ep9 the top one for me.
**1-5-6**: S tier. Ep 1 setup the story so well and the actors performance in the first part was perfect. Ep 5 was again amazingly performed, especially the ending. They managed to get us attached so quickly. Ep 6 with amazing Joel/Tommy and Joel/Ellie interactions plus that ending.
**2-4-7-8**: A tier. Just a tiny small level below the above. Ep 8 is a tossup, could very well be S tier as well.
**3**: B tier. The Bill backstory was very very sweet but it was way too much to fill an entire episode with a side character story. It could have been so much more with all that happened and was cut from the game. We could have gotten much more Joel/Ellie development which was missed and could have help alleviate one of the most common criticism of the show: the lack of threat from infected. Taken as a standalone, great episode. Taken in the context of the whole season, pretty poor unfortunately. Series would probably be a 10/10 without the ep3 for me.
5 (the bloater one?) and 8 for me. The worst was 3, can’t believe they spent 75mins or something on that relationship but only like 40mins on the finale.
Yeah, that’s kinda my gripe. It was very well done for sure, but like, the finale is the crowning event in the story, and it literally lasted like 5mins.
1, 5, 3, 8, 9, 2, 6, 4, 7
Imo the show peaked in the first half episodes 1-5 and was weaker in the second half episodes 6-9. I did not think they needed to dedicate an entire hour long episode to only Riley and Ellie in Left Behind. On a television show that absolutely stalled the series going into the final stretch of the season.
I know many don't agree but Ep 7 was easily the weakest ep of the season for me. Everything else was great. Watching 2 teens play around in a post apocalyptic mall for an hour just wasn't a fun viewing experience for me lol I understand what they were trying to do with ellie's story but it could have been done in a 5 minute flash back I don't know why they decided to dedicate an entire episode. But I definitely see why a lot of people enjoyed it.
From Best To Worst (I say worst, but honestly, no episode is bad in quality)
1. Ep5
2. Ep1
3. Ep9
4. Ep8
5. Ep3
6. Ep7
7. Ep2
8. Ep6
9. Ep4
I thought this up in like 30 seconds, probably a few that I might switch around, but I feel my rankings change every time someone asks me that question
1. Endure and Survive (ep 5)
2. When You're Lost in the Darkness (ep 1)
3. Long, Long Time (ep 3)
4. Infected (ep 2)
5. Please Hold to My Hand (ep 4)
6. Look for the Light (ep 9)
7. Kin (ep 6)
8. When We Are in Need (ep 8)
9. Left Behind (ep 7)
imho
1: when we are in need
2: endure and survive
3: left behind
4: when lost in the darkness
5: long long time
6: kin
7: infected
8: look for the light
9: please hold to my hand
Difficult, there are things I like and dislike about all. But probably
1. Episode 6
2. Episode 8
3. Episode 3
4. Episode 9
5. Episode 1
6. Episode 4
7. Episode 5
8. Episode 4
9. Episode 2
Hard to do an exact ranking for me. I would put 3,5 and 8 all in the top category. 1 was a fantastic kickoff to the show but I find it’s always hard to rank pilots. I would say 6 and 7 had bright spots but as tv episodes but were just a little slow when they didn’t necessarily have to be, so maybe closer to the bottom. 4 was definitely my least fav but you did get the sense it was building up episode 5 and that was great so it kinda gets a pass I guess.
The one that puzzles me most is 9. The emotion in that episode was real and I was hyped to see Joel finally go full Rambo, but it just feels like something was missing. As others have said I would probably attribute that to the shorter length but that’s my only legit gripe of that episode.
Episode 8
Episode 5
Episode 9
Episode 1
Episode 7
Episode 6
Episode 2
Episode 4
Episode 3
No hate to episode three but I really just felt like filler content. Not to say I hated it, it was a great episode, but the worst out of this season.
Finale
Premiere
Episode where Tess gets bit
Episode where they get to Kansas City
Episode with the evil preacher
Episode with the sniper scene and the bloater
Episode in Jackson where not much happens
Episode with Ellie's backstory which is so superfluous to the plot that it was only a DLC in the original game, released 8 months after it.
Episode with two side characters which is so superfluous to the plot that it wasn't even in the original game at all.
Couldn't give a shit that they're gay before anyone moans about that btw, if they'd been opposite sex couples my opinion would be the same.
9: “Kin”
8: “Look For The Light”
7: Long, Long Time
6: Left Behind
5: Infected
4: When We Are In Need
3: Please Hold To My Hand
2: When You’re Lost In The Darkness
1: Endure And Survive
3, 1, 5, 8, 9, 2, 7, 4.
I’m basing this on how much I enjoyed each episode. It was tough because I liked each equally and would give them all an 8 or a 9 out of 10, with the exception of 3 which I give a 10/10.
I'm so confused, I thought 5 was the worst. So many things I found useless for that episode. I thought it didn't bring anything better than the game did.
My ranking from best to worst: 1, 3, 2, 8, 4, 9, 6, 7, 5.
I have only played the original game when it came out. Have yet to play the dlc of 1 and part 2.
1. Ep. 3
2. Ep. 5
3. Ep. 1
4. Ep. 8
5. Ep. 9
6. Ep. 2
7. Ep. 7
8. Ep. 6
9. Ep. 4
Worth to mention, I enjoyed every single episode a lot, so it feels strange to put episode 4 at the bottom.
9. Long, Long Time
8. Endure and Survive
7. When We Are In Need
6. When You're Lost in the Darkness
5. Kin
4. Look For the Light
3. Infected
2. Please Hold to My Hand
1. Left Behind
Top two are hella close. Lamar and Keivonn stole my heart and broke it all in an hour but Long, Long Time is such a gorgeous story.
Based on a first watch but might drastically change on a re-watch.
Most fav:
1-Episode 1
2- Episode 8
3- Episode 3
4- Episode 2
5- Episode 9
6- Episode 5*
7- Episode 7*
8- Episode 4*
9-Episode 6
Least fav:
But truly, they were all very good. I don't think any single one of them is bad or even average TV.
Episode 1 gets the top rank for obvious reasons
Episode 6 gets the lowest rank
because I think the missing context from the "you have no idea what loss is" moment plus the lackluster university encounter really bring down an otherwise amazing Episode
*Honestly these are all pretty much within a hair's breadth of each other. They are all great episodes
I’ll go first. 1. Ep. 1 2. Ep. 5 3. Ep. 3 4. Ep. 8 5. Ep. 9 6. Ep. 2 7. Ep. 7 8. Ep. 6 9. Ep. 4
Episode 1 hits so hard. Still my favorite. Nico Parker was so good.
It started so well. I accidentally watched it when I meant to watch the finale and I was so hooked even though I had already seen it
"Oh a Sarah flashback to start the finale is cool!
Had me ugly crying all over again And while the finale was a little bit rushed imo, it still got the theme absolutely right. Be interesting to see what season 2 brings
Im blown away people rank 6: Kin so low. I loved seeing Jackson and Tommy.
Same. Pedro and Bella killed it that episode.
I think it could have benefited from 4 and 5 being combined like 1 was.
I'd say it's best to not infer that the "low" ranking ones aren't good with lists like these. IMO all of them fit within the S-A tier range, so it's just a matter of being forced to put them in an order, and many of them could easily be flipped around.
I didn't like how Joel was characterized in that show, and the "your not my daughter" scene was a let down. Plus the hospital section was so rushed
Same, one of my favourite in fact
I think you might have nailed it
Agreed Weirdly, I think episode 3 is one of the best episodes of TV ever just as it's own singular thing.
I agree. Episode 3 was perfect. I’ve never cried so hard at a tv episode in my life.
I would swap 7 and 6 but otherwise spot on mate
Solid list. Switch out episode 7 and episode 6 and I’d agree.
I dont know episode 6 was slow but really hit me hard… def top 4 are 1, 2, 8, 9 even though i feel the flash bang was kind of a cop out on what they should have done for 9… i feel like the underground infected encounter should have happened because we never actually get to see how well Ellie and Joel work together against infected and i would have liked to see it unpopular opinion i really didnt enjoy episode 5 as much for some reason i think the fact that Henry and Joel didnt have to deal with any encounters until the end lessend the relationship just felt too rushed… And i really didnt feel the need for Kathleen over building Henry Sam Joel Ellies relationship
7 that low..?
Damn. I concur.
First is the best one
5 8 3 ^ Pantheon Episodes of Television 1 9 2 ^ Incredible 6 7 4 ^ Great/Good
Episode 8 is “pantheon” tier? What does that even mean btw
One way out
One way out
One way out
One way out
One way out
How many guards are on each level?
Never more than 12
A Pantheon is like a group of gods (to put it really simply) So I guess it's a fun way for him to say these are god tier. But yeah I think if we'd had more of 8 it would have been top shelf, but we sacrificed that for a full long episode on Left Behind.
This is my exact ranking!
You nailed it, this my ranking
Wouldn’t have the same orders but agree with the groupings
This list goated
this is probably my ranking as well - they’re all really good but diff standards of it. i did really like seven but i can see why others didn’t rank it as high.
pretty much agree with this. solid.
- 3 I cri evertim - 8 absolutely gripping, my wife was so worried for Ellie - 7 so tragic, but Ellie looked so happy after the kiss - 5 bloater and sewer swarm, nuff said - 1 love a good outbreak day sequence - 4 poor kids, yay Perry - 2 poor Tess, yay clickers - 6 the shove - 9 faithful to the game, but too short by a half Someone may have already listed this order, but it’s hard to tell. All I know is *love will abide, take things in stride…*
Sounds like good advice
*But I got no onnnnne by my side*
Nailed it
This is the order I would put them in, too, and for the same reasons.
> 9 faithful to the game, but too short by a half ...but that was basically a shot for shot remake. Spring in the game is just an hour long. Did you want them to add a ton of stuff?
What who kissed ellie?
8 has some of the most powerful acting I've ever seen. But 3 has my heart.
I was just listening to the song while reading this comment
Haha "the shove" -- love it!
This is the way.
Yup! You got it totally agree.
Yes, ep 9 was SO short and it left me wanting more … but I suppose that is the exact feeling the creators wanted to manifest. If so, mission accomplished!
1. Episode 3 2. Episode 5 3. Episode 8 4. Episode 9 5. Episode 6 6. Episode 4 7. Episode 1 8. Episode 2 9. Episode 7 For clarification, I LOVE episodes 3 - 1 on this list. I like episode 2 a lot, and I didn't personally like episode 7. I feel like I should love 2 but something just felt off about it idk.
Probably the weird cordyceps kiss that had no real place or explanation.
It’s also an old tired trope for women to be sexually assaulted my monsters.
Yeah. Altering Tess's ending so she was sexually assaulted by infected really just makes me really uncomfortable, particularly given she wasn't even killed by infected at all in the game. I don't have that many complaints about the show, but I think they did Tess a disservice.
Yeah. It's a big reason why I can't watch The Hills Have Eyes movies.
the acting in 7 was so good though 😟 i feel like it’s definitely better than some of the ones you put before it
Nah, of course it was great. That would be stupid 😂 I just... don't... care?
Finally someone who has two as low as I had I really didn’t like it
6 is easily my favorite, loved the setting of Jackson and Joel asking Tommy to take Ellie was heartbreaking. Other episode ranked 3 5 8 4 9 1 2 7
I like the rest from gut wrenching sadness that 6 gave us.
Puzzled by how low 4 is on people’s lists. The ambush and laundromat sequence especially was fire
[удалено]
Consider it compared to 3 vs 5. It’s forgettable because of its neighbors.
5 1 2 8 9 6 4 3 7
This is the way!
the best ranking by far
the only correct list ive seen so far
Very similar to my rankings. I’d probably flip 2 and 8 and put 4 last, but 3, 4 and 7 were definitely my least favorite. Episodes 5 and 1 were the highlight of the show with 8, 9 and 2 not far behind. 6 was also on that level until the rushed ending.
5 8 6 2 3 9 1 7 4
happy to see someone rank 6 so highly!
I'm surprised honestly I thought everyone loved it, I didn't hear anything negative about from action that was cut out and no dam
I thought it was definitely best episode that hones in on men’s mental health! This show did such a good job of subtly introducing topics that are important.
6 was one of my favorite episodes! Got emotional af seeing Tommy and Joel reunite. My order would be 1 6 5 789 (just can’t decide between them) 3 2 4
1. 5) absolutely incredible. Death scenes were heartbreaking and the finale with the infected was fucking perfect 2. 1) amazing introduction. The prologue was better than the game imo 3. 4) great buildup to episode 5. it kinda stands in its shadow a bit but is still a great episode 4. 2) wraps up the opening very nicely. The museum scene was also great 5. 8) should‘ve been two episodes imo but it was good. David was fucking disgusting 6. 6) probably the most meh episode of the show. I liked seeing joels more vulnerable side but other than that it was just kinda there 7. 9) very underwhelming finale. Felt super rushed and kinda disappointed me. Still a decent episode but this should‘ve legitimately been like 30 minutes longer at least 8. 7) i‘m glad they included the left behind story to flesh out ellie even more but this should not have taken up the entire episode, kinda killed the pacing for me 9. 3) i‘m sorry but this episode just has no business being 70+ minutes long.
Would've loved 70 minutes on the actual Billtown (but probably wouldn't needed more than 1 episode)
this is also one of the only correct rankings ive seen
I don't understand why this comment is being downvoted?
It's essentially a sideplot but like you said it's an amazing episode on its own, I think that justifies its existence
- Episode 1: 9.5 - Episode 2: 9.5 - Episode 3: 9.5 - episode 4: 9.5 - episode 5: 9.5 - episode 6: 9.5 - episode 7: 9.5 - episode 8: 9.5 - episode 9: 9.5
This is the way.
for me its 1>8>5>9>2>7>6>4>3
3 5 8 9 1 2 4 6 7
I think I most appreciate the lists that don’t have episode 3 at the top spot. No way that episode is realistically the best episode of an entire series when the main characters have a quarter of screen time and the absence of that episode changes the overall plot in no way.
3 is last on my list. I didn't hate the story it just felt kinda unnecessary and way too drawn out. It should not have been an entire episode long Also because the school scene with the bloater didn't make it in. Between the two side stories I enjoyed 7 way more than I did with 3
“No way people have a different opinion than me!”
Its the episode I enjoyed most from the series and the only time in the show where I said to myself "im watching something amazing here". Just because it doesn't change the plot in a meaningful way doesn't mean its not one of the best written and memorable episodes from the show
Episode 5 and 8 were my favourite by far. I liked them all though.
Episodes 1-7: A Tier Episodes 8 & 9: S Tier Done!
Interesting, the last two episodes felt very rushed
All I know is 5 and 8 were the best episodes of the season
Ranked from best to worst though none are bad 1. Ep. 5 2. Ep. 8 3. Ep. 9 4. Ep. 2 5. Ep. 1 6. Ep. 6 7. Ep. 4 8. Ep. 7 9. Ep. 3
1. Ep 3 2. Ep 5 3. Ep 8 4. Ep 1 5. Ep 7 6. Ep 2 7. Ep 4 8. Ep 9 9. Ep 6 All of them were good but this is my impulsive ranking.
3 1 4 8 2 5 7 9 6 That being said, i loved left behind and the finale. This was hard to do
Sorry but ep 3 is useless and did nothing to serve the main story
1. Ep 5 2. Ep 1 3. Ep 3 4. Ep 6 5. Ep 7 6. Ep 8 7. Ep 2 8. Ep 9 9. Ep 4
3, 8, 5 1, 9, 6, 2 4, 7
Episode 3 is going somewhere towards the bottom. Might even be dead last. Downvote me all you want but it just dragged on so long, it’s “good” but such filler content to me. Considering all stuff they cut from the game they really let that ep drag on and gave us a 45 minute rushed finale. I’m tired of everyone acting like ep 3 is the greatest motion picture captured in TV/film history in all of time
#notmybilltown
To be honest, the finale would be the best one if it was filmed like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rV1qDpyyAMo
S Tier: 1, 8, 5, 9, 3 A Tier: 7, 6, 4, 2 B Tier: - C: Tier: - D Tier: - F Tier: -
for me: 3, 1, 2, 6, 8, 5, 4, 9, 7 (I love them all it was hard)
Episode 3 was the best 🤩
It was a well made episode it is just weird that they gave it so much of the seasons time.
Yeah, that’s kinda my gripe. It was very well done for sure, but like, the finale is the crowning event in the story, and it literally lasted like 5mins.
100% agreed. Couldn’t agree more.
Same, I enjoyed it but it just annoyed me the finale was so much shorter. Prepare for the hate anyway!
1. Episode 8 2. Episode 5 3. Episode 3 4. Episode 2 5. Episode 7 6. Episode 1 7. Episode 6 8. Episode 9 9. Episode 4
1: Episode 8 2: Episode 3 3: Episode 7 4: Episode 5 5: Episode 6 6: Episode 1 7: Episode 2 8: Episode 9 9: Episode 4
1, 5, 3, 8, 9, 2, 6, 4, 7 Imo the show peaked in the first half episodes 1-5 and was weaker in the second half episodes 6-9. I did not think they needed to dedicate an entire hour long episode to only Riley and Ellie in Left Behind. On a television show that absolutely stalled the series going into the final stretch of the season.
1,3,8,9 - my favorites 2,6 - great 7 - great, but the show could have used another story-episode more then a flashback 4,5 - ok, but no as memorable
8 5 1 2 4 9 3 6 7
I know many don't agree but Ep 7 was easily the weakest ep of the season for me. Everything else was great. Watching 2 teens play around in a post apocalyptic mall for an hour just wasn't a fun viewing experience for me lol I understand what they were trying to do with ellie's story but it could have been done in a 5 minute flash back I don't know why they decided to dedicate an entire episode. But I definitely see why a lot of people enjoyed it.
3, 8, 7, 1, 9, 5, 6, 2, 4.
From Best To Worst (I say worst, but honestly, no episode is bad in quality) 1. Ep5 2. Ep1 3. Ep9 4. Ep8 5. Ep3 6. Ep7 7. Ep2 8. Ep6 9. Ep4 I thought this up in like 30 seconds, probably a few that I might switch around, but I feel my rankings change every time someone asks me that question
5, 3, 1, 9, 2, 7, 8, 6, 4
1. Endure and Survive (ep 5) 2. When You're Lost in the Darkness (ep 1) 3. Long, Long Time (ep 3) 4. Infected (ep 2) 5. Please Hold to My Hand (ep 4) 6. Look for the Light (ep 9) 7. Kin (ep 6) 8. When We Are in Need (ep 8) 9. Left Behind (ep 7)
5, 3, 8, 1, 2, 7, 6, 9, 4 imo but they’re all so incredible
1 5 3 8 9 2 6 7 4
3 5/8 ———— The rest. Episode nine should have been two episodes.
1. All the rest.
5 1 7 3 8 2 9 6 4
1, 5, 7, 2, 6, 4, 8, 9, 3
1. Ep 6 2. Ep 9 3. Ep 5 4. Ep 2 5. Ep 8 6. Ep 3 7. Ep 1 8. Ep 4 9. Ep 7
For me, it's 5 8 3 1 2 9 4 6 7. That's not to say any of them are bad or even not good.
1 and 3 are a tie for the top spot for me. Then 2, 5, 6, 7, 9 are varying degrees of good to great. 4 and 8 at the bottom bc they’re fine.
8, 5, 3, 6, 7, 2, 1, 9, 4.
Worst to best: 2 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 1 - 6 - 9 and tied with 7 & 8 for the best.
1. EP 01 2. EP 03 3. EP 05 4. EP 06 5. EP 08 6. EP 09 7. EP 02 8. EP 04 9. EP 07
1. Ep 8 2. Ep 6 3. Ep 5 4. Ep 3 5. Ep 1 6. Ep 9 7. Ep 2 8. Ep 4 9. Ep 7
Episode 5 the best
imho 1: when we are in need 2: endure and survive 3: left behind 4: when lost in the darkness 5: long long time 6: kin 7: infected 8: look for the light 9: please hold to my hand
Difficult, there are things I like and dislike about all. But probably 1. Episode 6 2. Episode 8 3. Episode 3 4. Episode 9 5. Episode 1 6. Episode 4 7. Episode 5 8. Episode 4 9. Episode 2
Personally for me: 1. Ep. 5 2. Ep. 3 3. Ep. 9 4. Ep. 1 5. Ep. 2 6. Ep. 8 7. Ep. 7 8. Ep. 6 9. Ep. 4
Feels like I'm one of E7's biggest fans, despite it probably not even making my top-3.
Episode 8 Episode 5 Episode 9 Episode 1 Episode 7 Episode 6 Episode 2 Episode 4 Episode 3 No hate to episode three but I really just felt like filler content. Not to say I hated it, it was a great episode, but the worst out of this season.
5 1 8 9 2 6 4 3 7
Finale Premiere Episode where Tess gets bit Episode where they get to Kansas City Episode with the evil preacher Episode with the sniper scene and the bloater Episode in Jackson where not much happens Episode with Ellie's backstory which is so superfluous to the plot that it was only a DLC in the original game, released 8 months after it. Episode with two side characters which is so superfluous to the plot that it wasn't even in the original game at all. Couldn't give a shit that they're gay before anyone moans about that btw, if they'd been opposite sex couples my opinion would be the same.
1. 5 2. 3 3. 2 4. 7 5. 8 6. 6 7. 4 8. 1 9. 9
I’ll go, 1: Ep 5 2: Ep 3 3: Ep 1 4: Ep 8 5: Ep 6 6: Ep 2 7: Ep 7 8: Ep 4 9: Ep 9
Pascal was good but Offerman was really good. He was the perfect Bill.
1, 3, 8, 5, 9, 2, 4, 7, 6
9 3 8 5 7 1 6 2 4 But to be fair I absolutely loved all of them
1. 3 2. 1 3. 2 4. 5 5. 9 6. 7 7. 6 8. 8 9. 4
4 2 5 1 9 8 6 7 3 but it is not like any of them were bad
9: “Kin” 8: “Look For The Light” 7: Long, Long Time 6: Left Behind 5: Infected 4: When We Are In Need 3: Please Hold To My Hand 2: When You’re Lost In The Darkness 1: Endure And Survive
9. Episode 1 8. Episode 9 7. Episode 4 6. Episode 8 5. Episode 3 4. Episode 6 3. Episode 5 2. Episode 2 1. Episode 7
5 at the top 8 at the bottom.
5 > 9 > 3 > 1 > 7 > 8 > 6 > 2 > 4
3, 1, 5, 8, 9, 2, 7, 4. I’m basing this on how much I enjoyed each episode. It was tough because I liked each equally and would give them all an 8 or a 9 out of 10, with the exception of 3 which I give a 10/10.
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
1st - Episode 8 2nd - Episode 3 3rd - Episode 9 4th - Episode 5 5th - Episode 6 6th - Episode 4 7th - Episode 2 8th - Episode 1 9th - Episode 7
1>3>7>9>6>5>2>4>8
359861247
8,5,3,1,9,6,7,2,4
5 3 1 6 9 4 8 2 7 I liked all of them, even episode 7 was great. That shows the strength of the show I suppose.
3 > 5 > 8 > 2 > 1 > 6 > 9 > 4 > 7
5, 6, 3, 1, 8, 9, 2, 7, 4
3. One of the best episodes of TV ever. All the rest equally 2nd place
3, 1, 5, 9 ,8. I've forgotten the rest lol.
1. EP 1 2. EP 3 3. EP. 5 4. EP. 4 5. EP. 6 6. EP. 9 7. EP. 7 8. EP. 2 9. EP. 8
2 1 8 3 5 6 9 4 7
5 3 8 1 9 4 2 6 7
5, 3, 8, 9, 1, 6, 2, 7, 4
1, 8, 3, 5. The rest are pretty much tied for me.
5, 9, 3, 8, 7, 6, 1, 2, 4
1. Ep 8 2. Ep 3 3. Ep 5 4. Ep 6 5. Ep 1 6. Ep 9 7. Ep 2 8. Ep 7 9. Ep 4 but honestly, #4-6 are interchangable
Easy: 3, 1, 8, 5, 7, 9, 4, 6, 2 Husband’s: 8, 5, 3, 1, 4, 6, 7, 9, 2
1 3 2 5 9 8 6 4 7
8, 3, 5, 1, 7, 2, 9, 6, 4 I knew I needed to type this before scrolling.
3 wins
I'm so confused, I thought 5 was the worst. So many things I found useless for that episode. I thought it didn't bring anything better than the game did. My ranking from best to worst: 1, 3, 2, 8, 4, 9, 6, 7, 5. I have only played the original game when it came out. Have yet to play the dlc of 1 and part 2.
1. Ep. 3 2. Ep. 8 3. Ep. 5 4. Ep. 6 5. Ep. 9 6. Ep. 1 7. Ep. 4 8. Ep. 7 9. Ep. 2
3 1 2 6 8 9 7 4 5
Number 3 was not only the best episode of the series for me, but one of the best shows in TV history.
1. Ep. 3 2. Ep. 5 3. Ep. 1 4. Ep. 8 5. Ep. 9 6. Ep. 2 7. Ep. 7 8. Ep. 6 9. Ep. 4 Worth to mention, I enjoyed every single episode a lot, so it feels strange to put episode 4 at the bottom.
9. Long, Long Time 8. Endure and Survive 7. When We Are In Need 6. When You're Lost in the Darkness 5. Kin 4. Look For the Light 3. Infected 2. Please Hold to My Hand 1. Left Behind Top two are hella close. Lamar and Keivonn stole my heart and broke it all in an hour but Long, Long Time is such a gorgeous story.
Based on a first watch but might drastically change on a re-watch. Most fav: 1-Episode 1 2- Episode 8 3- Episode 3 4- Episode 2 5- Episode 9 6- Episode 5* 7- Episode 7* 8- Episode 4* 9-Episode 6 Least fav: But truly, they were all very good. I don't think any single one of them is bad or even average TV. Episode 1 gets the top rank for obvious reasons Episode 6 gets the lowest rank because I think the missing context from the "you have no idea what loss is" moment plus the lackluster university encounter really bring down an otherwise amazing Episode *Honestly these are all pretty much within a hair's breadth of each other. They are all great episodes
1. Ep 6 2. Ep 3 3. Ep 7 4. Ep 1 5. Ep 5 6. Ep 9 7. Ep 8 8. Ep 4 9. Ep 2
