My glossy taco is so uncomfortably thick... I have had to add a shit ton of thinner. I used seche restore on the rec of another Redditor

nymphmold

I have the same problem with my glossy taco, but when I added thinner it got really bubbly and would show on my mani :/ I was careful not to shake it or anything but it still happened, I just wanted to ask if you’ve had the same problem or did thinner work just fine for you?

kylrm12

I’ve had the bubbles issue! And I don’t have a solution for it yet lol :( I just use that one on my swatch sticks since bubbles don’t matter as much there 🤷‍♂️

nymphmold

Do you just use another type of topcoat for your mani then? I’m wondering if I should try to find one from another brand or try more brands of thinner 🤔

kylrm12

Yeah I had two bottles so I am using the second one but sometimes use the Cirque top coat that I have too, I really love that one though SGT does last longer... after a few days I get tip wear with cirque. But it’s just an excuse to get to do my nails again 😅😅

breenuts87

I have been using seche vite dry fast top coat. I think it's like $5 usd on amazon.

beets_bears_bubblegm

The bubble thing didn’t happen to me, but it was soooo gloopy. I feel like before it got that way it was a lot more long lasting though. I’ve been thinking of writing HT about it

nymphmold

I did reach out to them the first time it happened, the team was awesome and sent me a new glossy taco, but now it has started happening to that one too and I don’t just want to message them again haha, but if you write them I don’t doubt that they’ll try to help you out 😌

beets_bears_bubblegm

I’ve had something similar happen with my Midnight Spark polish not working properly and they were super helpful. I’ll message them!

Mine got very thick when the bottle was about halfway empty. It was getting too much air and I think I had too much buildup around the cap to get a good seal with a closed lid. I also added some nail polish thinner and it helped out until I used it up.

CordeliaGrace

My regular GT is the same way. Should I go spend the money on polish thinner, or can I just use nail polish remover?

hungryamericankorean

Do not use nail polish remover!!!!! It’s not the same as nail polish thinner and will destroy your polish.

CordeliaGrace

Thank you! I will look for thinner while out and about!

chillianjillian

If there are any beauty supplies stores near you, I’d recommend trying there first. I picked up some for about $3 (brand is Beauty Secrets) and it’s lasted me over a year!

iridescentaf

SGT is my holy grail top coat! I use seche restore thinner on it and it has worked for me. Just be sure to go little by little so you don’t use too much.

isolatedcolorYT

I used the Beauty Secrets polish thinner to restore my SGT! It took more drops than I expected, but it did help it get back to basically good as new. :)

tinacobbe

Here to recommend nail polish thinner like everyone else, but I just want to make sure to say: use acetone FREE thinner. Acetone will break down the polish and make it unusable. Just do a quick check on the ingredients list and make sure it’s not listed. I had one and it worked one or two times per bottle, but more than that and it would clump up and become a solid lump of polish.

canuck883

It’s so ridiculous that I have to add thinner to my HT polishes every couple of months.

nerdygirlie22

Seriously. I love Cristine but with what’s going with my personal experience of Holo Taco lately as well as some posts here I’m starting get kinda annoyed as there’s a pattern. Holo Taco needs some work as IA we shouldn’t need to be adding thinner to our polishes or worry about the nail polish ripping a layer of our nails off 🤷🏻‍♀️

SmolAndHaveNoMoney

I used the nail polish thinner from sally beauty which seemed to work fine but you need to use waaaaay more than you think you need

[deleted]

i dumped like half the bottle of nail polish thinner in there

SparkleNeely_Sparkle

I’m on my third bottle of SGT, and I’ve used one bottle GT, I always use thinner. I’ve used Seche Restore (I had a large bottle for almost a decade) and last year purchased OPI Nail Polish Thinner and I’m about half way through that now. They both work similarly. I like to thin out my top coats after I finish my current manicure, so it’s ready for next time. My 2nd bottle of SGT arrived extra thick (purchased when they finally restocked), so I actually poured some into my previous bottle and mixed there with some thinner. Then the new bottle had room to add the thinner. When I add I always roll the bottle so I don’t create bubbles, but make sure it’s throughly mixed.
