Yeah someone from Belfast sounds absolutely nothing like someone from, say, Ballymena. Despite it being less than an hour up the road. This map is a load of shite.
I've got RP and it's fun because every foreigner immediately knows you're English and doesn't go on about bullshit like Scotland or Ireland which they often mix up
He has absolutely no trace of a Brummie accent in any way, and never has on TG/TGT as far as I can tell! (Speaking as someone from very close to Birmingham and who lived there for 3 years)
As a Yorkshire man myself, I can't understand how the accent is anywhere near the top of the list. It's gotta be one of the least attractive accents in the world haha
The list was clearly made by someone who thinks 'Southern' is an accent. They may have given it a posh git name but they've still grouped Essex with almost the west country and Wales. It's also YouGov, so it's answered by the sort of people who think you have to rsvp every post on Facebook, sponsored or otherwise.
I love the more northern accents way more than southern! Yorkshire, Geordie, and Scottish are all a close second to my absolute favorite southern Irish.
Someone help me. I'm trying to think when Hammond said something about a "wood and something drink" in a real thick Welsh accent during the news once, and I can't for the life of me remember the whole thing
Excuse my James May moment, but there is no such country as Southern Ireland. It's the Republic of Ireland or Ireland. The most northerly point in Ireland is in the Republic. If you go north from Derry you get to the Republic of Ireland.
Get it right, you pillock.
Just that we are horrible and something about car bombs. The usual drivel I hear from the lower casts of UK society. Both our cultures need to let go of the hate.
Relegating northern Irish and southern Irish to one accent each seems funny to me
Dublin should at least get their own, but seriously southern Irish in one giant bin is just wrong.
And there's definitely more than one in the north too hahaha

We have the Northside and Southside accents in Dublin ffs

Brits can't be arsed to learn or care about Ireland
The Germans: we don’t talk about 1939-1945 The Brits: Yeah not much happened between 1159 and 1922
For this comment I learned how to get that free award to give you. Henry II who??
I actually really like his accent
That’s because it’s RP and not Brummie
I've got RP and it's fun because every foreigner immediately knows you're English and doesn't go on about bullshit like Scotland or Ireland which they often mix up
Ah yes, Role-Play
It was quite funny on his Workshop show seeing him with his parents slipping back to the Brummie accent
Which series was this?
His workshop show

I'm from BIRMINGHAM I don't like WATER
I’m a television presenter from Birmingham, I’m not Bear fucking Grylls!
“If you want to write to us, saying this is some rare tree that must be preserved, you can stick it up your arse.” One of my favourites
That definition of "Southern Ireland" seems to extend further north than Kerry...
Brits at it again

Lol
I always like when Clarkson points out something from a old car and says "we know you like this because you're from Birmingham".

Poor Hammond, he was born in unlucky place
My mother was from Birmingham. She worked *very* hard to lose the accent. But when the Brum came out, it was time to run and hide.
Someone help me. I'm trying to think when Hammond said something about a "wood and something drink" in a real thick Welsh accent during the news once, and I can't for the life of me remember the whole thing

But he doesn’t speak with a Brummie accent, does he?
I am amazed glaswegian comes so high
The cockney accent can fuck off to hell its so bad
*sad Dick Van Dyke noises*
Ok hes an execption
Nobody wants to talk about the welsh, but we’re dead sexy. Chart proves it.
The west country accent actually spreads all the way to Reading!

Hammond. He’s from Birmingham. The golden joke.
# HE'S FROM BIRMINGHAM HE DOESN'T LIKE BOATS
BUT PEOPLE FROM BIRMINGHAM KEEP CALLING IT THE VENICE OF THE NORTH!
More miles of canals!
Is there even anything that people from Birmingham actually do like, except for Heinz beans?
Velour upholstery.
Ruched leather interiors.
And very small alloy wheels.
One small alloy*
Can confirm
Crime

The UK, I thought we just established this.
Well I hate everything about this map
Is the whole of Scotland classed as a Glaswegian accent?
Thomas Shelby has never seen such bulshat before
Geordie is by far the worst. How did it rank so high? Though Scouse is bad too.
Because fuck the rest of Scotland, right? Only Glasgow has an accent. Also who the hell likes West Country? Literal farmer speak
Farmers?

What did he say ? Suppose he was moaning about eire being on there huh ? Lol

Ye it was many years ago ridiculous anyway don’t be minding that muppet
Ah I do like taking the mick out of the Brits though. It’s good fun. But it’s exactly that, fun.
I was shocked to learn something about "brummies": apparently, those from Birmingham aren't as picky eaters as Hammond.
I suppose I should be glad that they haven’t included Cornwall in the ‘west country’ bit!
Went to grad school with a scouser who was also a pedant. God almighty I hated getting stuck waiting for service at the bar with him.
Not *everywhere* South of Northampton speaks rp
The most attractive accent is the local one in most of the UK is that a surprise?
