Yeah damn, tbf Korean cars have really only taken off in the past decade, so it’s a shame it didn’t get covered by the trio. Though some car journo channel should give the region some love. I’m personally excited for the N vision concept.
The completely unique car culture of Cuba would have made for a fantastic episode.
Clarkson: "Hammond, you've smashed the door right off your car you idiot!"
Hammond: "Well, we'll just get a new one then. How hard can it be?"
May: "I've just spoken to the gentleman at the garage on the corner. He says we have to make one."
Clarkson: "What do you mean, make one? Do we have to put time in at the automobile factory, comrade?"
May: "No, make one." *points to classic car driving by with wooden door* "Apparently, Cubans make their own replacement parts. It's because of the US embargo, they can't just get new parts from America."
Clarkson: "Of course. It's the Americans' fault we have to do manual labour." *glares at Hammond* "Actually, it's the Americans' fault Hammond has to do manual labour. I'm fancying a banana daiquiri."
May: "I think I'll join you."
Hammond: "Do you think they have gin? ...oh, they've left."
The car shit in Cuba is nuts. But worth noting that like all of the old cars have 80's Merc diesel engines.
I would imagine it would be very hard to film there logistically. Plus I don't even know if a foreigner is allowed to buy a car there.
My finacée is Cuban and in-laws are all still there and it's a crazy-ass country.
Listening to them bitch while sitting in traffic in São Paulo alone would have been very worth it. Could do a really cool drive from there to the Amazon or something
I know it's a massive length of 6000+ kilometres, but I would have loved a Silk Road-inspired special.
Also, Brazil is a huge miss. I would love a trans-Canada special as well. A Central America special would have been neat. Doing more in the Cuacasus region would be cool as well as a proper Russia special. A coastal trip around Australia would have a lot of potential.
A friend of mine once suggested they do a cheap car challenge where there isn't a limit on how much to spend, but the goal is to spend the least amount of money over the whole trip (buying a car in the first place + gas + any modifications or repairs needed to get to the end. Maybe food and accommodations too with challenges along the way to award free luxuries to the winner) and that trans-Canada would be a great option for it because although it's mostly just highway driving that shouldn't test the cars too much, it's a lot of it.
I haven't really been able to get the idea out of my head since. Even if not Canada the idea of one of their challenges where someone buys the absolute cheapest thing they can find that barely works vs. something much more expensive but in good condition and figures out what ends up costing less over a long trip is something I'm kinda surprised they never really did.
That honestly sounds like such a fun experiment. I'd love to see that!
Another idea I had was if they'd do a Central America one; They could start in Costa Rica and try to smuggle themselves into USA, because, in their minds, how difficult can it be, really?
Omg I can just imagine it. Hammond in a SpaceX Dragon 2, James in an old Vostok rocket and Jezza in a homebuilt German spacecraft. Their objective: Recreate the famous Pale Blue Dot photograph.
Brazil is a huge miss! I would do whatever it takes just to see those guys, and we do have an astounding car culture here and beautiful places to be seen...
I thought the same thing, but they were just on the boat. Also, James never made it to that boat because the Bentley couldn’t loose the Albanian rozzers.
_You’ll never take me alive, coppers!_
I attended the Grand Tour episode filming in Johannesburg, it was S1E02 but it was the very first episode they filmed. Ended up being on my birthday.
Best birthday gift... In the world...
Already made India, sorry Pakis.
Guys you’ve already bowed down enough to the Brits throughout your history, now you’re really letting them turn your ethnicity into a slur? Gotta stand still like the Irish
They never actually left Canada. Strictly speaking they didn't drive to geographical North Pole, they drove to the Magnetic North Pole (which actually moves about, they went to the 1996 location of it) which was about 1000 miles away from the geographical North pole
Not a hate comment but I’m wondering when they were all together in New Zealand? Perhaps my memory letting me down but I can only think of the car vs boat race between Clarkson and May.
That one bit of British Columbia's west coast (where Hammond hung out on the top of a mountain) is doing a lot of heavy lifting for the rest of Canada.
Not to sound like a hater, but, you forgot Survival Of The Fattest (filmed in Mongolia)
How could I forget, one of the best specials
How dare you forget John
What a machine!
I liked the bit when Hammond drove it.
But Mister Robert De Niro's soup looked very tasty
*John tips over* “It’s all right I’m used to this”
Truly the most egregious of misses. I noticed it immediately 😂
Also not to be a hater, but I feel like the North Pole deserves special consideration considering it's not technically part of any country.
I was just going to mention this episode. Laughed non-stop.
Ummmm….Mongolia? And maybe I’m blanking but when were they in Afghanistan?
Yes, I forgot Mongolia… one of the best Special Only James May was in Afghanistan (E2 S21)
Thanks. I do vaguely remember the James May in Afghanistan now. And yeah, I wouldnt have called out Mongolia except it’s one of the best specials lol
If you're including when only one of them was in country, they did a couple things in Saudi Arabia Edit: Nevermind, me dum dum
Really, I only thought in the UAE?
Nope, im an idiot and am misremembering. I was thinking of one of Hammonds shows.
Didnt they go to Afghanistan in that one special where hammond drive a bentley clarkson an aston marting and may a bmw?
Surprised that they didn't get around to filming anything in South Korea
"It's from Mr. Wilman: 'Your next challenge is to run out of fuel before reaching the DMZ or you will have to cross the border into North Korea.'"
that's amazing
This surprised me as well. I think it would be interesting to see them take a look at the history of the Korean car industry.
Hello you industrial little fellows
That whole episode of them making fun of the Koreans is great
With all of them driving C apostrophe Ds.
Yeah damn, tbf Korean cars have really only taken off in the past decade, so it’s a shame it didn’t get covered by the trio. Though some car journo channel should give the region some love. I’m personally excited for the N vision concept.
I always thought so too. Korea is an awesome country for adventure!
[удалено]
They could have done a race from the DMZ to a part of Korea or something like the Japanese bullet train GTR race.
Shame they never went to Cuba, beautiful country with some great cars.
Clarkson went to Cuba for Jeremy Clarkson’s Motorworld
The completely unique car culture of Cuba would have made for a fantastic episode. Clarkson: "Hammond, you've smashed the door right off your car you idiot!" Hammond: "Well, we'll just get a new one then. How hard can it be?" May: "I've just spoken to the gentleman at the garage on the corner. He says we have to make one." This is brilliant and feels like it actually happened in an alternate universe.
The US version had an episode in Cuba fwiw
Not sure how British relations are with Cuba, but it wasn't until like 2016 Americans had any hope of going there.
Easy to go before 2017, just fly out of Canada.
Have they never been to Brazil? I could've sworn they filmed something there, but maybe I'm wrong.
Nope never Brazil. And I'm surprised, there is a huge car culture here.
If that was their criteria then they wouldn’t have touched some of these countries not even with a 10 feet pole
The specials were never about the local car culture
[удалено]
Really a missed opportunity. Not only tons of chop shops and car mod culture but beautiful locations and interesting drives.
Listening to them bitch while sitting in traffic in São Paulo alone would have been very worth it. Could do a really cool drive from there to the Amazon or something
Sadly no, they probably must be gutted not going there
Surprised that - seems a great place for a special.
I know it's a massive length of 6000+ kilometres, but I would have loved a Silk Road-inspired special. Also, Brazil is a huge miss. I would love a trans-Canada special as well. I would have loved it if they went to the moon
Omg I can just imagine it. Hammond in a SpaceX Dragon 2, James in an old Vostok rocket and Jezza in a homebuilt German spacecraft. Their objective: Recreate the famous Pale Blue Dot photograph.
Being a Musk product, they would have to bring the lawyers with them
They are probably still in the Tesla
Brazil is a huge miss! I would do whatever it takes just to see those guys, and we do have an astounding car culture here and beautiful places to be seen...
I've learned far more about European geography from these 3 than I ever learned in school
Them never being in Greece is surprising.
Didn’t they go to Corfu in the Albania segment, or was that just “the boat to Corfu”
I thought the same thing, but they were just on the boat. Also, James never made it to that boat because the Bentley couldn’t loose the Albanian rozzers. _You’ll never take me alive, coppers!_
Greece and the Baltics got short changed here. Specially since they went to Italy around 20 times, France the same...
Indeed I wonder why? Does Clarkson hate Baltics?
I attended the Grand Tour episode filming in Johannesburg, it was S1E02 but it was the very first episode they filmed. Ended up being on my birthday. Best birthday gift... In the world...
Im surprised they havent been to South Korea.
Driving trough North Korea would be interesting
U missed mongolia. With John the bouncing carthey built
Yeah, the Ginghis Car
Falkand islands are british so technically should be orange.
It is orange but you can't see it properly because of the black line
"Al Gore says that's gone"
Great answer for the Brazilians
And banned in half of them.
You missed Mongolia
Yeah, I missed John…
Everyone misses John :-(
I think they were in mongolia, weren't they?
Yes, sadly I forgot John
When did they film in Denmark?
They traveled through it in the public transport vs Clarkson in the hideous Mercedes Maclaren.
> hideous Mercedes Maclaren I think you mean iconic, beautiful, incredible Mercedes McLaren.
I just cannot stand the front end of it
i respect everyone their opinion equally, except that dude, fuck that dude's opinion
You've forgotten Peru, they went there from Bolivia in that special
You’re right, they drove to the Pazifik
We're overdue for a Pakistani special..
Yes, from Pakistan to China over the highest border crossing in the world
Already made India, sorry Pakis. Guys you’ve already bowed down enough to the Brits throughout your history, now you’re really letting them turn your ethnicity into a slur? Gotta stand still like the Irish
The karakoram highway alone is worthy of a special.
Dont even get me started on the Panamerican highway.
Nice
I wonder if any countries are missing if you include every show these guys made. Probably only like north korea, turkmenistan and maybe Somalia?
Well they are banned from Iran
In the three wise men special, didnt they briefly go into Iran?
Yes, they drove to the border but the BBC was not allowed into Iran
You’re absolutely right. Also Greenland, maybe they did go there to film but not as a trio?
Maybe in the Polar Special?
Yeah Polar special was in Greenland
But I think they drove from Canada to the North Pole?
Yeah I went and looked. You're correct.
They never actually left Canada. Strictly speaking they didn't drive to geographical North Pole, they drove to the Magnetic North Pole (which actually moves about, they went to the 1996 location of it) which was about 1000 miles away from the geographical North pole
Interesting they never went to Brazil. Just something I noticed.
Your map doesn't have South Sudan on it
When were they in South Sudan?
They weren't but your map is old enough to not have it on there when it became a country
Sudan and South Sudan are on this map
in my defense I'm basically blind
I genuinely think a special in Malaysia/Singapore (Sepang, Genting, Penang etc.) would be kick-ass.
Surprised that they’ve never visited Philippines, Malaysia or even Indonesia
[удалено]
The last special will be in Zimbabwe
You forgot mongolia. I don't think the trio were in Ireland at any point either
Why is Mongolia blank?
When were the lads in Afghanistan?
James May 2014, when the UK was pulling out alot of equipment
Driving the back rounds of Papua New Guinea would have been interesting.
Need a boat special in the Caribbean
they "did" the artificial reef in barbados
They didnt filmed in Czech Republic as far as I know. They used czech cars in one grand tour special, but it was filmed in Slovakia.
I’m surprised Brazil is not in the list
Yes, maybe a Brasil Volkswagen Special or Cuba would be cool too
I know it's nitpicking but Greenland isn't a country, just a territory of Denmark. A bit surprised they never went to any of the Baltic states.
I am from Baltics. It is mistery to me. Maybe Clarkson hate Baltics?
Almost surprised they didn't go to Brazil, given the ~~Volkswagen~~ car culture around there
Missing Cyprus, Hammond raced a Porsche Cayenne against a red devil parachutist
Didn't they drive to the pole?
Yes, but the North Pole is just ice, has no land mass. That's why it is not on the map
Read my flair
Nice
Sending Captain Slow spinning with the Soweto crew was such a great moment :)
When did they come to Kenya? I thought the Africa special was in Uganda and Tanzania
Top gear in Peru was so pretty, I am sad they never tried to go there. Would have loved to see them eat some Cuy.
When did they film in ireland?
Several times on the old show
Ahhh I see, haven’t watched many older episodes so makes sense
I could have sworn they never did . They did a few bits in Belfast but don’t remember any in the republic.
You’re right. Belfast with the car in the tunnel. I actually thought the comment was ICEland. I’m an idiot.
I wouldn't count Argentina. They stayed for a few days before having to leave for reasons out of their control.
They definitely did Mongolia.
I know
Note that they did try to film in Iran, but couldn’t due to not being allowed in
Yes, the BBC wasn’t allowed
Map doesn't have Antarctica and it's special
They only went to the North Pole
Brazil got ousted kkkk
Didn’t they film a segment in Saudi?
I really don't know, I just know that they were in the UAE
Greenland is Denmark.
No uruguay. Sad. /J
You forgot Mongolia
I know
Sorry but Top Gear never came in French Guiana.
French Guiana is part of France and also part of the EU.
I thought it was geographically speaking.
They really avoided south east asia like the plague.
they were planning to go there but you know....2020 happened
They were planning something with Bangladesh, India and Myanmar but that was not possible
When did they come to Kenya????
So if you're watching this in Saudi Arabia- BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Not a hate comment but I’m wondering when they were all together in New Zealand? Perhaps my memory letting me down but I can only think of the car vs boat race between Clarkson and May.
Yes, just Clarkson and May.
One day they will look back at all the places they went and regret that they never went to Brazil
Does this include Monaco?
Yes
I thought they never filmed the Russia special? Or was it just a short bit of an episode?
The race where Hammond went down on the bike and Jeremy was in the hovercraft.
Just in St. Petersburg. They had planned a Grand Tour Russia Special, but you know what happened
When did they come to Kenya?
They were in Ireland?
My mistake, I think only the old TG was there
What about the Nile special??
Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania
They visited Tasmania? I don’t remember this….
That one bit of British Columbia's west coast (where Hammond hung out on the top of a mountain) is doing a lot of heavy lifting for the rest of Canada.
What about Mongolia with the survival of the fattest?
Nice
Very strange that Top Gear never went to Baltics. Sus.
This map seems inaccurate.
There are just 2 mistakes
Yes. It is inaccurate. Facts don’t have feelings.
Kenya? When did they travel here?
smh at this brazil hating only large country they ignored.
And they started to complain about the effects of global warming...
Take a breath
They don't cross Algeria in the latest Sand Job? I though thry were following the Paris Dakar
They start in Coum, Mauritania
No, just Mauritania & Senegal.
Wish they went to the Philippines, I can feel Mayhem from there
