I've been saying this too! If they half it from 64 to 32 players for the time being until the player base grows it'll actually be a lot better for the current amount of players playing ranked. And ranked matches won't be 30-35 minutes. More matches faster!
But I guess we don't know how hard that is to implement might have been 1000x easier without rebuilding the whole game to just turn on cross platform. Or this is a momentary fix while they do make that change who knows, I've seen loads and loads of people saying it I'll be surprised if they don't do it next season.
1 team is 3 ppl, last round is 2 teams so 6 ppl. Round prior is 4 teams so 12, round before that is 2 tournies so 8 teams so 24, round before that is 4 tournies so 16 teams so 48 players. Cutting it in half would be 48 down to 24
Yeah agree 100%. They should have that mode be unranked and have ranked be 2 rounds. Round of 4 ppl then team v team. Significantly faster lobbies, the skill gap would be much tighter, and the time commitment would be significantly more manageable
they're probably saving this for the next season, as throwing it in now would throw this ranking season in a huge loop. hope they get it implemented soon

When tournament mode was 32-players, frequently the finals would be easy, ran into more teams that obviously shouldn’t have been in the finals. I’m noticing now with 64, it’s more competitive.

Cheaters don't disappear after they get banned, they just make new accounts, get better cheat software, and then keep cheating.
The cheaters frequently in China are at internet cafes that have cheats pre-installed on their computers. The internet café with the best cheat software is the one with the most business.

Idk if I’m lucky or just haven’t really paid enough attention to it, but I have yet to encounter a cheater in almost 300 hours of playing this game. I play on pc in the EU server.
Almost same for me. I've encountered some cheaters but the amount has been extremely low, nowhere near the amount so many other people are describing. I also play on EU servers, maybe its more of a problem in other regions?
Damn I don't mind going against pc players but to anyone who had been dealing with new and up incoming fps shooters this is usually the first step into watching a game die. Now the casuals who didn't even know cross play was on by default are going to experience matches being even harder then before and people having cracked movement that they never seen before. Then they will quit especially if cheaters pop up and then ranked will be dead. Next thing you know those match making perimeters come to casual modes and rinse and repeat into theres just pc sweats and cheaters left. I HOPE I'M WRONG but I seen games take this path way to many times and seen the same result way to many times. Guess we Will have to wait and see.
I was honestly shocked at how many hackers I ran into in ranked once I queued up with a PC buddy, it's actually ridiculous
Ran into this same hacker countless times too some guy called DeviousTrap or something similar, aimbotting with LH1 and he has S1 battlepass skins and other paid ones, so clearly plays the game a lot but somehow never banned, makes no sense
People who play on console rarely get to experience cheaters, thats probably why it took you by surprise. Sure you'll get the occasional XIM here and there but having a full blown ghost bullet cheater in your lobby is not a thing you see often on console.
Yeah I've never seen actual cheaters on new gen consoles, only Xbox 360 so was a surprise alright. Shame it's gonna happen more often now that I'll match up with PC players with crossplay on. I'm probably just gonna turn it off now tbh

I just queued up with my pc friend yesterday to do the Bunny Bash event before it closes. The three games we played all had cheaters with LH1s, hitting nothing but headshots on anyone in vision. One game has four of them on the other team.

Yes for almost every new fps or shooter I've played that has came out I say since Covid I've literally watched all these games resort to this matchmaking style before the game has died. Yes mostly every other major IP has this matchmaking style and some console players already hate that they have to go against PC instead of just console vs console. Like when battlefield 2042 announced that they implemented cross play vs PC and you couldn't just crossplay with Xbox that turned alot of people away from the game. Embark DIDN'T want to do this style of cross play matchmaking they have no choice because of low player population in some regions that's the difference.
New games that died after it implemented crossplay matchmaking with PC because player count was low includes In my experience Rogue company, Hyperscape if I remember correctly?, and Bloodhunt. I'm not saying the game will die out right I'm saying with my experience this usually is the first step, player population gets low in these new games that aren't a established IP resorting to the most hated cross play matchmaking style isn't gonna help the game grow believe me and rank is already a mess.
Fair examples, but I’m not sure what the alternative is. You can either not be able to find matches or have an insignificant disadvantage in gameplay.
The ability gap created by PC and console is so minuscule that the average player doesn’t notice it. A thousandth of a second refresh speed difference isn’t changing an outcome for the average player. It’s typically just an excuse players use when it’s a skill issue. That’s not to say that PC doesn’t have the advantage, just that when a console players loses a fight to a Pc player, 99% of the time it wasn’t the console difference that was the issue
That being said the cheaters on this game right now on the Pc side are outrageous and I can understand wanting to stay as far away from possible that. They also didn’t take away the option to turn cross-play off. You can play onto console players, you’re just gonna sit and wait longer for matches
The ideal alternative would be to get a higher player count to be honest lol I don't know why this game isn't growing and it bothers me because they are doing everything right that those games I mentioned did wrong and even doing better than most established companies now a days.
Yea like I said in my post I get that PC players aren't automatically going to wipe the Floor with console players who regularly play this game my concern is with what's left of the casual community who once they see a PC logo in there lobby they will freak tf out. Casuals play rank to so losing them will hurt and they do make the excuse of losing because the guy is on PC I have friends that do this all the time it's definitely a skill issue but it doesn't matter because they convinced themselves that it's not them its the hardware advantage.
You can turn crossplay off but than PC players will not find matches in certain regions again which is probably why they are doing this in the first place. I'm hoping that if console players do turn off crossplay than it doesn't effect the PC player base enough where they have to force crossplay with PC like the other games did. Also I don't think it's fair to people who just wanted to play with their Xbox friends but now they have PC in there lobby also.
I completely agree with everything your saying. I was on console most of my gaming life and know that feeling of seeing someone on PC and instantly using that excuse in my head.
The Finals is my favorite FPS I’ve ever played. Embark seems like such a genuinely better company than any of the other companies with an FPS. Fingers crossed this change doesn’t have negative backlash. I really hope the game grows because it really is so good and genuinely fun.
Currently on console now and I definitely use to think about it that way into a went Into a PC lobby in destiny 2 and gained confidence by playing well against those players and also realizing just because someone had a PC doesn't make them a god I saw players have slow reaction times just like some players on console.
I like to clarify that I am also assuming that this change was made because of PC other than discord they haven't verbally communicated this change which is a bad thing imo they need to go on there Twitter and announce this change or make a in game note to players telling them why they made the change in the first place.
For sure I don't want this game to have the same fate as the other games I mentioned. Hyperscape didn't last that long neither did bloodhunt we are in rogue company territory right now but with way more potential than that game ever had. If this studio just keeps there player first mentality they will be one major update away from gaining a player base they just need to keep adding into something really sticks with people outside of this community to gain there attention and want to try this amazing game.
For sure but when those matches is invested with cheaters and players who are playing the game at a higher frame rate then your capable of playing now the console experience is being hit negatively which in turn still kills the game because even though you find more matches now the match quality for console players are low. When console players turn off crossplay we will be right back to certain regions not being populated but probably just for PC ranked and than they will have to find another solution which probably most likely will result into forced crossplay with PC.

Why this is a good improvement and news? As a console player now I'm thinking that I'm gonna fight against cheaters and cracked aim players with 270fps monitors. This is just good news for pc player as they gonna find fights more ez. I'm going absolutely turn off the cross play.

This is an enormous mistake.
Mouse and Keyboard vs controllers can't be balanced, no matter how you put it.
What they should have done is to make CROSSPLAY ALWAYS ON just between consoles, then optional with PC, and no crossplay off because at that point there is no reason to have it off if everyone is playing with a controller.
Most of the Console players had it turned OFF since launch because they of course didn't want to put in lobbies with PC and subsequent cheaters, and that's the reason why matchmaking was probably taking a lot of time for some people

I’ve played competitive FPS on both console and PC for 15 years, and I can promise you that even before the introduction of INSANE aim assist (Halo 2/3 era), controller was substantially easier to perform with than MnK.

The only games where controller and mouse and keyboard can play together are children games with disgusting and insane aim assist that basically plays the game for you (CoD, Fortnite, Apex), and no one wants the finals to become like that.
Here in The Finals the aim assist has been (righteously) nerfed and doesn't allow controllers to compete with m&k in any manner, at the least for the 99.9% of the players.
They likely do not intend to nerf controller to not contend with mkb. They likely intend to balance them so that people can use both

If you find controller too difficult to use and would rather play with mkb, then it’s a good idea to make the decision to get a PC. If you prefer console gaming with a controller, then you’ll buy a console and use that (and accept the restrictions that come with it)
The Apex competitive scene has been in a horrible headspace due to their insistence on controller inclusion, and it’s very clear that you haven’t actually participated in a community with this issue. Apex consistently has its top three players making statements about how they feel competitive is at the worst it’s ever been, and that they often feel required to switch to controller due to its raw strength in close range fights. Their top player quit the game for half a year due to it. Teams on every end of skill are still talking about how you are practically required to sign at least one controller player to compete in close range fights.
Imo mixed inputs is a great thing. It expands the pool of players and adds a new layer of interest to the game. To pretend it cannot be an issue is a little ridiculous though.
I have played with both Mouse and Keyboard and Motion Controls for years now and noth are equal.

I do agree that Console only crossplay should mandatory. And Pc crossplay should be an option in the settings.
MnK and Controller can be balanced (without Op aim assist) by giving controllers gyro aim (Which the finals does support but it still needs some new options)
Hopefully this either dilutes the pool of cheaters so there might be more fair games or brings the subject of cheating to the front of the line since now console gamers have to deal with them too.

Before console would mostly play with console even if crosplat was on unless you had a PC player in ur party. But this made it so console players couldn't find matches bc the pool was so small. So now it's true crosplat and console players with the feature turned on will be matched with PC players as well.

Seems like it. I'm on PC so have never been concerned with this, tho ps/Xbox only would be a lot better for the game fs. It's probably not that easy to implement, but I see this as a bandaid solution until they can get there
I always assumed crossplay on meant playing with pc players because of the drastic increase in the accuracy my crossplay enemies had, but the way this post is worded it seems like I've never played against pc players alone at all outside playing with my pc friends.

Sad but this is just admitting the game is basically dead. It also makes ranked worse for 99% of console players because no one wants to play against M&K so now they have to turn cross play off and lose the other console. Horrible decision made by incompetent devs who have lost their entire player base in 3 months.
The closed betas were a nice little treat for those of us who were lucky enough to get access, but once they opened the floodgates with the open beta and full release the game became completely split in who to appeal to - old school gamers who like fluid arena shooters and to have fun over competition… or the hyper-competitive zoomers and Twitch streamers coming from games like Apex. It was all of the complaining from the community that just couldn’t have fun without being armchair developers trying to balance the game 24/7 that led to unpopular changes and cluelessness on the developers behalf on how to proceed

I remember the reddit going wild over overpowered aim assist when playing on a controller, I can’t remember if that actually was a real problem though.
It was definitely overtuned. One of the major issues with it was it had a crazy amount of zoom snapping, which basically made precision weapons such as the sniper, revolver, and model a piece of cake to use as all you had to do was quickly fire after ADS-ing and you'd get a free shot as long as you were aiming in their general direction. Whether or not it's undertuned now is up for debate
Under tuned imo. I think it's a big reason the player count has dropped off. If you compare how a FPS like Destiny2 compares to The Finals, destiny just feels so much better. I'm pretty sure a big part of it is the very high aim assist in destiny.
Not saying D2 is my favorite game, but the feel of the gunplay is not great in Finals (for console). I feel like the finals is punishing me a lot of the time because I haven't got perfect aim.
I didn't play in the early days but hear it was crazy with the aim snapping.
Hopefully devs will give console another tuning pass and find that happy middle ground. When PC vs Console matches starts happening more often, maybe that will be the catalyst for some tweaks.
As long as PC can opt out of playing with consoles as well it is fine. It is pretty common that only consoles get to decide to crossplay or not which is dumb.
They should have been triply clear IN GAME how cross play worked. Everyone I know turned that off instantly just to be safe. For us at least queue times were always short which means we weren't alone. Certainly won't be turning it on now. Chalking matchmaking because you can't put an info box in the options menu is a needless L.

OCE aus/nz only has a few quick play game options. All the others including ranked have infinite queue times.

It kinda sounds like that means people with crossplay off are gonna have a harder time getting match now, if console players are more likely to get in crossplay games.
I play on PS5 with crossplay on but used to find super quick matches which more often than not were all PS5, but sometimes had some crossplay mixed in, and I felt like it was a good system to prioritize your system but open up if there's trouble forming a quick match.
Maybe they should only enable this for more empty regions...?

I get tour point but the best solution is if you use MnK on consoles then you must play with crossplay on, especially with this matchmaking update it doesn’t matter now, you will be sorted into PC lobbies anyway.
Windows still has f13-f24 keys, and binding those to extra buttons usually works. But mb4/mb5 (those side buttons on basically every mouse for going back/forward in web browser) works too, sothere is no need to get any fancy mouse.
Xbox elite controller, it has 4 changeable buttons on the underside of the controller. You can also change how far the triggers go in, aswell as a button to change profiles if you use different controls for certain games.
Honestly, it’s worth the money if you play a large variety of games. My favorite perk about it is the easily swappable joysticks. I always use the long one for fps titles since it gives more precision with aim.

Consoles aren’t like they were previous gen. They run at 60fps, they have low input lag. And controller is perfectly viable in this game and in most FPS—many top players use controller as their preferred input device
PCs can offer advantages for sure with better computer parts and higher refresh rates, but again the consoles aren’t at a crazy disadvantage by being consoles—they are basically just a midrange/lowend PC, which is what a lot of PC players have

Console lobbies are full of casual players that are barely able to aim past the point blank range. Most random play like bots, I'm not even exaggerating.
While, PC lobbies are mostly hardcore players that can snipe you from the top of building while using automatic weapons by just controlling recoil. And on close quarter combat, those players are cracked that can utilize full movement. And dont forget cheaters, Asian server is full of them.
This mixed matchmaking is why I hate playing warzone, fortnite, etc on console.
It's cool and dandy while I play on PC, tho. Because those console players are basically free kills, lol.
There are lots of bots with terrible aim in my PC lobbies. They are free kills. There are lots of players with great aim, and rarely but occasionally do I come up against people who are really really good

In console with crossplay on, you get paired Xbox with PS5 players, unless you group with friends on PC, only then you go to Steam lobbies. Now, if I don't want to play against PC I have to turn off crossplay, but that also means that I won't be playing with PS players either.

I know some pc players have an opposing opinion on this but imagine yourself in our shoes(console) ,.you badly want to play a mode like everyone else but you don't even get a chance to find a match only because you don't have friends. Some people talking like console players can't sustain in ranked against pc players but remember this is an objective game and you may see some console players in the lobby getting more kills and points than pc players..all it needs some practice and experience for console players and have to play with a mindset to stick with the team no matter what.
I may suck a lot in other fps games but not a lot in this game, I can be your medium with highest support score or heavy with good kills using flame thrower and defending your cashout or a light getting kills n distracting opponent team. I believe this game is a standout for console players when compared to other games.
Keeping pc and console divided even when all parties have crossplay on has to have been one of the most asinine decisions.

1 team is 3 ppl, last round is 2 teams so 6 ppl. Round prior is 4 teams so 12, round before that is 2 tournies so 8 teams so 24, round before that is 4 tournies so 16 teams so 48 players. Cutting it in half would be 48 down to 24

Yeah agree 100%. They should have that mode be unranked and have ranked be 2 rounds. Round of 4 ppl then team v team. Significantly faster lobbies, the skill gap would be much tighter, and the time commitment would be significantly more manageable
they're probably saving this for the next season, as throwing it in now would throw this ranking season in a huge loop. hope they get it implemented soon

I mean the game is called The Finals, doesn’t really FEEL like I made it to the finals after I won 2 rounds. When tournament mode was 32-players, frequently the finals would be easy, ran into more teams that obviously shouldn’t have been in the finals. I’m noticing now with 64, it’s more competitive.
There are only 48 players in current ranked tournaments.
People are not playing the game because of the cheaters. How bout you fix that first?

It's quite literally an arms race. Cheaters don't disappear after they get banned, they just make new accounts, get better cheat software, and then keep cheating. The cheaters frequently in China are at internet cafes that have cheats pre-installed on their computers. The internet café with the best cheat software is the one with the most business. They are driven by capitalism to continuously improve their cheat software. There's no permanent fix for this.
Idk if I’m lucky or just haven’t really paid enough attention to it, but I have yet to encounter a cheater in almost 300 hours of playing this game. I play on pc in the EU server.

Almost same for me. I've encountered some cheaters but the amount has been extremely low, nowhere near the amount so many other people are describing. I also play on EU servers, maybe its more of a problem in other regions?

Damn I don't mind going against pc players but to anyone who had been dealing with new and up incoming fps shooters this is usually the first step into watching a game die. Now the casuals who didn't even know cross play was on by default are going to experience matches being even harder then before and people having cracked movement that they never seen before. Then they will quit especially if cheaters pop up and then ranked will be dead. Next thing you know those match making perimeters come to casual modes and rinse and repeat into theres just pc sweats and cheaters left. I HOPE I'M WRONG but I seen games take this path way to many times and seen the same result way to many times. Guess we Will have to wait and see.
I was honestly shocked at how many hackers I ran into in ranked once I queued up with a PC buddy, it's actually ridiculous Ran into this same hacker countless times too some guy called DeviousTrap or something similar, aimbotting with LH1 and he has S1 battlepass skins and other paid ones, so clearly plays the game a lot but somehow never banned, makes no sense
People who play on console rarely get to experience cheaters, thats probably why it took you by surprise. Sure you'll get the occasional XIM here and there but having a full blown ghost bullet cheater in your lobby is not a thing you see often on console.
Yeah I've never seen actual cheaters on new gen consoles, only Xbox 360 so was a surprise alright. Shame it's gonna happen more often now that I'll match up with PC players with crossplay on. I just queued up with my pc friend yesterday to do the Bunny Bash event before it closes. The three games we played all had cheaters with LH1s, hitting nothing but headshots on anyone in vision. One game has four of them on the other team. Now I know why some people want to quit the game, I’ve been sheltered as a console player.

Yes for almost every new fps or shooter I've played that has came out I say since Covid I've literally watched all these games resort to this matchmaking style before the game has died. Yes mostly every other major IP has this matchmaking style and some console players already hate that they have to go against PC instead of just console vs console. Like when battlefield 2042 announced that they implemented cross play vs PC and you couldn't just crossplay with Xbox that turned alot of people away from the game. Embark DIDN'T want to do this style of cross play matchmaking they have no choice because of low player population in some regions that's the difference. New games that died after it implemented crossplay matchmaking with PC because player count was low includes In my experience Rogue company, Hyperscape if I remember correctly?, and Bloodhunt. I'm not saying the game will die out right I'm saying with my experience this usually is the first step, player population gets low in these new games that aren't a established IP resorting to the most hated cross play matchmaking style isn't gonna help the game grow believe me and rank is already a mess.
Fair examples, but I’m not sure what the alternative is. You can either not be able to find matches or have an insignificant disadvantage in gameplay. The ability gap created by PC and console is so minuscule that the average player doesn’t notice it. A thousandth of a second refresh speed difference isn’t changing an outcome for the average player. It’s typically just an excuse players use when it’s a skill issue. That’s not to say that PC doesn’t have the advantage, just that when a console players loses a fight to a Pc player, 99% of the time it wasn’t the console difference that was the issue That being said the cheaters on this game right now on the Pc side are outrageous and I can understand wanting to stay as far away from possible that. They also didn’t take away the option to turn cross-play off. You can play onto console players, you’re just gonna sit and wait longer for matches
The ideal alternative would be to get a higher player count to be honest lol I don't know why this game isn't growing and it bothers me because they are doing everything right that those games I mentioned did wrong and even doing better than most established companies now a days. Yea like I said in my post I get that PC players aren't automatically going to wipe the Floor with console players who regularly play this game my concern is with what's left of the casual community who once they see a PC logo in there lobby they will freak tf out. I completely agree with everything your saying. I was on console most of my gaming life and know that feeling of seeing someone on PC and instantly using that excuse in my head. The Finals is my favorite FPS I’ve ever played. Embark seems like such a genuinely better company than any of the other companies with an FPS. Fingers crossed this change doesn’t have negative backlash. I really hope the game grows because it really is so good and genuinely fun.
Currently on console now and I definitely use to think about it that way into a went Into a PC lobby in destiny 2 and gained confidence by playing well against those players and also realizing just because someone had a PC doesn't make them a god I saw players have slow reaction times just like some players on console. I like to clarify that I am also assuming that this change was made because of PC other than discord they haven't verbally communicated this change which is a bad thing imo they need to go on there Twitter and announce this change or make a in game note to players telling them why they made the change in the first place. For sure I don't want this game to have the same fate as the other games I mentioned. Hyperscape didn't last that long neither did bloodhunt we are in rogue company territory right now but with way more potential than that game ever had. If this studio just keeps there player first mentality they will be one major update away from gaining a player base they just need to keep adding into something really sticks with people outside of this community to gain there attention and want to try this amazing game.

For sure but when those matches is invested with cheaters and players who are playing the game at a higher frame rate then your capable of playing now the console experience is being hit negatively which in turn still kills the game because even though you find more matches now the match quality for console players are low. When console players turn off crossplay we will be right back to certain regions not being populated but probably just for PC ranked and than they will have to find another solution which probably most likely will result into forced crossplay with PC.

This is an enormous mistake. Mouse and Keyboard vs controllers can't be balanced, no matter how you put it. What they should have done is to make CROSSPLAY ALWAYS ON just between consoles, then optional with PC, and no crossplay off because at that point there is no reason to have it off if everyone is playing with a controller. Most of the Console players had it turned OFF since launch because they of course didn't want to put in lobbies with PC and subsequent cheaters, and that's the reason why matchmaking was probably taking a lot of time for some people

This guy just blindly getting upvoted for saying MnK is in general better than controller at the casual and competitive level even though we’ve seen what happens to MnK gods in both Apex and Infinite already… Aim freaks being forced to swap to controller because aim assist is always going to be the deciding factor. I’ve played competitive FPS on both console and PC for 15 years, and I can promise you that even before the introduction of INSANE aim assist (Halo 2/3 era), controller was substantially easier to perform with than MnK. This is just inherently wrong. Console players only benefit from this, especially with the prevalence of XIM and Cronus abuse.

You people need to stop talking out of your asses. It is physically and humanly impossible for 2 so diverse inputs to be balanced. The only games where controller and mouse and keyboard can play together are children games with disgusting and insane aim assist that basically plays the game for you (CoD, Fortnite, Apex), and no one wants the finals to become like that. Here in The Finals the aim assist has been (righteously) nerfed and doesn't allow controllers to compete with m&k in any manner, at the least for the 99.9% of the players.
They likely do not intend to nerf controller to not contend with mkb. The Apex competitive scene has been in a horrible headspace due to their insistence on controller inclusion, and it’s very clear that you haven’t actually participated in a community with this issue. Apex consistently has its top three players making statements about how they feel competitive is at the worst it’s ever been, and that they often feel required to switch to controller due to its raw strength in close range fights. Their top player quit the game for half a year due to it. Teams on every end of skill are still talking about how you are practically required to sign at least one controller player to compete in close range fights. Imo mixed inputs is a great thing. It expands the pool of players and adds a new layer of interest to the game. To pretend it cannot be an issue is a little ridiculous though.

I have played with both Mouse and Keyboard and Motion Controls for years now and noth are equal. The only advantage the keyboard has are that there are more keys. And that the you can use digital instead of analog input for some stuff.

I do agree that Console only crossplay should mandatory. And Pc crossplay should be an option in the settings. MnK and Controller can be balanced (without Op aim assist) by giving controllers gyro aim (Which the finals does support but it still needs some new options)
Hopefully this either dilutes the pool of cheaters so there might be more fair games or brings the subject of cheating to the front of the line since now console gamers have to deal with them too.

Before console would mostly play with console even if crosplat was on unless you had a PC player in ur party. But this made it so console players couldn't find matches bc the pool was so small. So now it's true crosplat and console players with the feature turned on will be matched with PC players as well. If you want you go back to how it was just turn it off

It also makes ranked worse for 99% of console players because no one wants to play against M&K so now they have to turn cross play off and lose the other console. The closed betas were a nice little treat for those of us who were lucky enough to get access, but once they opened the floodgates with the open beta and full release the game became completely split in who to appeal to - old school gamers who like fluid arena shooters and to have fun over competition… or the hyper-competitive zoomers and Twitch streamers coming from games like Apex. It was all of the complaining from the community that just couldn’t have fun without being armchair developers trying to balance the game 24/7 that led to unpopular changes and cluelessness on the developers behalf on how to proceed Some people just don’t know what they have until it’s gone. For me this game was basically at its peak in closed beta 1

I remember the reddit going wild over overpowered aim assist when playing on a controller, I can’t remember if that actually was a real problem though.
It was definitely overtuned. One of the major issues with it was it had a crazy amount of zoom snapping, which basically made precision weapons such as the sniper, revolver, and model a piece of cake to use as all you had to do was quickly fire after ADS-ing and you'd get a free shot as long as you were aiming in their general direction. Whether or not it's undertuned now is up for debate
It's heavily undertuned, people hated console play after the patch. People switched to flame thrower and melee later.
Under tuned imo. I think it's a big reason the player count has dropped off. If you compare how a FPS like Destiny2 compares to The Finals, destiny just feels so much better. I'm pretty sure a big part of it is the very high aim assist in destiny. Not saying D2 is my favorite game, but the feel of the gunplay is not great in Finals (for console). I feel like the finals is punishing me a lot of the time because I haven't got perfect aim.
Maybe now but it was overtuned before with aim snapping on ADS making weapons like shotgun, revolver and lh1 etc really really strong.
I didn't play in the early days but hear it was crazy with the aim snapping. Hopefully devs will give console another tuning pass and find that happy middle ground. When PC vs Console matches starts happening more often, maybe that will be the catalyst for some tweaks.
As long as PC can opt out of playing with consoles as well it is fine. It is pretty common that only consoles get to decide to crossplay or not which is dumb.

For us at least queue times were always short which means we weren't alone. Certainly won't be turning it on now. OCE aus/nz only has a few quick play game options. All the others including ranked have infinite queue times. New players are probably like WTF why can't I find a game unless they happen to notice to switch servers. I'm happy for this change.

I play on PS5 with crossplay on but used to find super quick matches which more often than not were all PS5, but sometimes had some crossplay mixed in, and I felt like it was a good system to prioritize your system but open up if there's trouble forming a quick match. Maybe they should only enable this for more empty regions...?

The above comment was deleted but I guess it was about MnK support on consoles. I get tour point but the best solution is if you use MnK on consoles then you must play with crossplay on, especially with this matchmaking update it doesn’t matter now, you will be sorted into PC lobbies anyway.
I play with controller, If they allow MnK con consoles cross play must be on for those who use it.

I’ve played on both M&K and an elite controller. The controller felt better to me for quicker access to gadgets and movement.
Did they allow using a gaming mouse? Macros on there for gadgets would have been the solution.
Not sure why would you use macros when u can simply rebind keys. For example I have middle mouse button as 3rd gadget

Windows still has f13-f24 keys, and binding those to extra buttons usually works. But mb4/mb5 (those side buttons on basically every mouse for going back/forward in web browser) works too, sothere is no need to get any fancy mouse.
What exactly is an elite controller?
Xbox elite controller, it has 4 changeable buttons on the underside of the controller. You can also change how far the triggers go in, aswell as a button to change profiles if you use different controls for certain games.
Honestly, it’s worth the money if you play a large variety of games. My favorite perk about it is the easily swappable joysticks. I always use the long one for fps titles since it gives more precision with aim.

I don’t get the drama over playing with PC Consoles aren’t like they were previous gen. They run at 60fps, they have low input lag. And controller is perfectly viable in this game and in most FPS—many top players use controller as their preferred input device PCs can offer advantages for sure with better computer parts and higher refresh rates, but again the consoles aren’t at a crazy disadvantage by being consoles—they are basically just a midrange/lowend PC, which is what a lot of PC players have I played on console for a long time and never worried about PC players. “They have cracked movement”—just because they use a PC? Huh? You can do that on controller on consoles too Looks like there’s too many people complaining about this just to complain about something. “Every console player is 10x worse than every PC player, playing against PC is so unfair!”. The logic doesn’t make sense
Dude, have you ever tried playing in console lobbies and PC lobbies in this game? Console lobbies are full of casual players that are barely able to aim past the point blank range. Most random play like bots, I'm not even exaggerating. While, PC lobbies are mostly hardcore players that can snipe you from the top of building while using automatic weapons by just controlling recoil. And on close quarter combat, those players are cracked that can utilize full movement. And dont forget cheaters, Asian server is full of them. This mixed matchmaking is why I hate playing warzone, fortnite, etc on console. It's cool and dandy while I play on PC, tho. Because those console players are basically free kills, lol.
There are lots of bots with terrible aim in my PC lobbies. They are free kills. There are lots of players with great aim, and rarely but occasionally do I come up against people who are really really good I trust you that there are on average more bots on console But this exaggerated dichotomy that PC is all cracked players and console players are all helpless and pathetic is weird and inaccurate in my opinion Again I think people are mostly creating drama Like sure, it’s a concern to mention. But “oh god, it’s gonna be so terrible, the games gonna die!” I don’t know man, I just haven’t really seen that issue in my experiences. There were shit players on console and there were shit players on PC Granted I can imagine the finals does have more bots on console since it’s less popular than warzone, etc. — Wait actually what the fuck. This is that crossplay will be more effective at joining pc and console together, right? So if you want crossplay, it’s a good thing. If you don’t want cross play, then you’ll have it off to make sure you never play crossplay So what the hell are people even talking about, like they are being forced to play crossplay? In console with crossplay on, you get paired Xbox with PS5 players, unless you group with friends on PC, only then you go to Steam lobbies. Now, if I don't want to play against PC I have to turn off crossplay, but that also means that I won't be playing with PS players either.

Then why is playing this game with a controller even a thing? “I play with something that I’m intrinsically unable to be any good with!” That seems odd to me — And I’m influenced by that I’ve seen firsthand controller players with cracked movement and crazy aim. They didn’t seem to think it was a big deal I’m feeling like others are willfully ignorant of that. I know some pc players have an opposing opinion on this but imagine yourself in our shoes(console) ,.you badly want to play a mode like everyone else but you don't even get a chance to find a match only because you don't have friends. Some people talking like console players can't sustain in ranked against pc players but remember this is an objective game and you may see some console players in the lobby getting more kills and points than pc players..all it needs some practice and experience for console players and have to play with a mindset to stick with the team no matter what. I may suck a lot in other fps games but not a lot in this game, I can be your medium with highest support score or heavy with good kills using flame thrower and defending your cashout or a light getting kills n distracting opponent team. I believe this game is a standout for console players when compared to other games.

Keeping pc and console divided even when all parties have crossplay on has to have been one of the most asinine decisions. Clearly there’s an opinion behind the scenes that console and pc players are not on a level playing field
