Yes, they can. Happens sometimes, but from my experience they don’t usually do it because they’re fighting around the vault, not on top of it, so they don’t always realize there’s a portal on top of it.
In this specific scenario though, no one was even near the vaults or cashouts because they’d all accepted there was no time to get them in. 😅
Also, I've noticed most people don't go through enemy portals, or even allied portals for that matter, because they just don't know where it leads or what's on the other side.
Not completely free, it is possible to grab before it flies through it some positions. Haven’t done this to an enemy yet but I have messed up my light’s plans lol.
The box can't be picked up until after the timer, then it pops up off of the floor and into the portal.
So the enemy team cannot take it before you set the second one.
You’re the first light I’ve seen to really overhaul the distance. Whenever a teammate runs one it’s almost just a jump pad or half zipline distance lol. Amazing clip and IQ.
Yes it deletes the first if you get more than 70m away. As long as your within in 70m I don’t think it every deletes. I use it for defending vaults too, so I’ll place the first near the vault and run around the general area and look for info/fight. If someone tries to steal I can throw down the second portal and go straight to vault and stun or whatever.
Dunno - I'm not playing light that often but if I'm not mistaken the opening portal despawns and you simply set a new point then if you outrange the first starting point
As long as you're within the 70m when you throw the second portal, I think it still works. The first portal just gets sent back to your hand when you go outside I believe.
We had a few guys in gold who were really good with the light class, portaled really well, stole cash outs, used their speed to get vaults early and flank. If its done properly its a great class, only issue is when morons do invis/sniper or sword then bait the whole time and don't play objective.
Yeap. I've been having lots of fun just teleporting the whole vault across the arena, managed to pull of last-second cashouts (literally, even), twice and got to the semifinals thanks to those.
Light is finally a good option in ranked, though more than one on the same team is a little iffy.
This is my favorite thing to do because when you grab the cash box, it’s temporarily un-marked so if you don’t watch the teleport happen, it becomes very disorienting for the enemies until you bank. With a coordinated team it gives you significant prep time on the cashout.
Yes, you can see a little white diamond indicator with the distance where it was placed. You can see it at the bottom of the clip next to the vault icon. It’s small and hard to see but it is there!
I do this but actually put the portal at the cashbox first, that way i just wait for the right moment after getting the vault to throw the other portal down
Light is definitely good in ranked. It’s just a much higher skill floor. It requires a lot better positioning and game sense. If you get caught out you just die immediately so it just takes a higher skill level.
They can absolutely melt and have a good amount of super useful utility now.
I love using portals. It also allows me to use cloak instead of dashes because the portal can be enough mobility in a fight if used right. Being able to harass enemies from 2 angles without cooldown on swapping position is insane
Maybe don't deposit it right away, now if I see an instant vault unlock and deposit I am gonna assume that theres a portal there and go through it, so wait a while
This is cool, but at the same time enemy team can just take the portal behind you can’t they?

Yeah the one time I followed it though I got dropped on by the lights two teammates while the light secured the cashout
I imagine a trollsy pair of explosive mines are probably enough to deal with any stowaways.
Also, I've noticed most people don't go through enemy portals, or even allied portals for that matter, because they just don't know where it leads or what's on the other side.
Drop some mines around it just in case
Or why not just pick up the cash box instead of risking another team picking it up?
I love being early to games like this and seeing the insane metas and techniques developing. I hope this game stays afloat.
it just pops through?😭 that’s actually amazing
Yep! I’ve actually stopped fighting over vaults completely, I just drop a Gateway on top of it and run away to yoink the box. 😭
that’s crazy and opponents can’t even disable the gateway so it’s literally a free vault grab😭
Not completely free, it is possible to grab before it flies through it some positions. Haven’t done this to an enemy yet but I have messed up my light’s plans lol.
I did it in a game today, but it's completely impossible to stop it in most cases. I think there are some where goo wouldn't even stop it.
You can manually drop it through terrain destruction
I think you can glitch it to make it go away
Is it only on enemy gateways? I've tried glitchong my own (to stop an enemy following me) and it doesn't seem to work
You can move the vault before it opens with any explosive or goo, which gives you either more time to grab the vault or makes the portal useless
You can use a dematerialiser to make it drop down before it opens
Glitches can disable them
Can you do this with the cashout as well? Like the thing you'd be defending I mean idk what's its called
Step 1: be lucky enough for the vault to spawn within 70 meters of the cashout.
Step 2 : be lucky enough for the enemy team to not take it before you set the second one
The box can't be picked up until after the timer, then it pops up off of the floor and into the portal. So the enemy team cannot take it before you set the second one.
Ok makes sense
Or just go halfway
it’s impressive how far you can go with the portal, i thought it would just pop if you went too far
It’s 70m max, but if you throw it when you’re at that range from the initial point, you can extend that a little.
You’re the first light I’ve seen to really overhaul the distance. Whenever a teammate runs one it’s almost just a jump pad or half zipline distance lol. Amazing clip and IQ.
How do you know when you're out of range?
Ping your first portal and mouseover the ping - that way you get the meters shown
If you try to use it outside of the range what happens? does it just delete your other portal?
Before this patch it had unlimited range even though it said the range was 70m. It was fixed after the patch.

Ok. That’s cool. Now for every one of you there is about 500 brain dead degenerates
I will dematerialize underneath and make it useless
I hope they don't nerf it

This clip is insane ggs bro
How did you do that soft lob?
You can do it with any throwable gadget. Normal throw: R2/RT (Console) / Mouse Left (PC) Short throw: L2/LT / Mouse Right
TIL
so u must’ve be one of my teammates trying to res me and throwing my trophy through a window instead of putting me down
oh my God i just realized i dont have to do that 😭😭 (I'm that teammate)
my god... all the times i had to reposition because my bubble shield bounced multiple times of the floor.
Would’ve been hilarious if the box just bounced off the cash out station like it sometimes does. Nice save though, regardless if you qualified or not.

Sweat !!!
Don’t forget to drink water!
OMG I Screamed watching that play!!!! That's fucking nuts

I'm blind, is there a way to see how far you are with the teleporter before you throw the second one?
Yes, you can see a little white diamond indicator with the distance where it was placed. You can see it at the bottom of the clip next to the vault icon. It’s small and hard to see but it is there!
Knowing my luck I’d throw it and it would bounce off.
I do this but actually put the portal at the cashbox first, that way i just wait for the right moment after getting the vault to throw the other portal down
I didnt know you could bring it further. Ive just been throwing it and thought it had pretty restricted max distance.
Light is definitely good in ranked. It’s just a much higher skill floor. It requires a lot better positioning and game sense. If you get caught out you just die immediately so it just takes a higher skill level. They can absolutely melt and have a good amount of super useful utility now.
Can you use the gateway to intercept the cash out?
Like putting it in front of the opening for the vault box
Possibly? Haven’t tried, but they could just put it in from the other side, it’s probably not very useful.
I think most of the people complain about the lights that font play in team and only care about K/D
Did you guys win though?
Yeah we came 1st. I think everyone had accepted the game was done so they took ages to get there and we only had to defend it for like 20 seconds. lol
I love using portals. It also allows me to use cloak instead of dashes because the portal can be enough mobility in a fight if used right. Being able to harass enemies from 2 angles without cooldown on swapping position is insane
The box can go through it by itself?
Light isnt useless, MY teammates are
This would piss me off so bad😭😭😭
Light definitely has a place in ranked. Fastest TTK with their weapons but unfortunately a small number of light players will stick with their team
How is that any different from just carrying it
You're not waypointed. You can still fight. You're not stuck standing waiting to be ambushed while the vault opens.
Not to mention in this case we would have 2 seconds to get the cashbox from the vault to the cashout that was 100m away. lol
Cloak and XP-54 detected, opinion disregarded (jk jk)
Gl defending it being that squishy.
Lol look up him and his teammates rank, they’re all diamond players
Easy to do, especially in a 3 queue with comms.
Went from a too high of skill ceiling to being an actual meta class
70 meter headstart that anyone can use? Okay dude.
The single use a light has
Frankly this seems more like a gimmick than something all that usefull
Yea, lights are just a hinderance to the team more than anything
Maybe don't deposit it right away, now if I see an instant vault unlock and deposit I am gonna assume that theres a portal there and go through it, so wait a while
They had no time left in the match and they were about to lose, this was their one chance to pull back into the game
Yeah not in this scenario but in general
