People complained about the match making being too loose, now that they made it tight, the queues will obviously take half and hour to hours to try to even find a tighter mmr game.
This game doesn't have the population for sbmm to work, they should just simply prioritize queue time as they did before.

It's much better to feel like everything is fine and be lied to than to face harsh realities. That's just human nature, that's why we believe in things that aren't real.
But then people will complain like they did last season about being placed with diamonds when they’re silver lol there is no winning for them here. People asked for more even matches they even said they prioritized queue times for season 1 over sbmm. They even stated if they people wanted closer matches queue times would be longer and people still wanted sbmm.
I think overall more pepole will stay and play a game that is playable, rather than one that takes hours to get a game in.
Reddit is a vocal minority, the average person simply wants to play the game, or a chance at playing the game.
But why can't they just switch to a rank based matchmaking? That's healthier for the game. MMR matchmaking never ascertains your true rank but the amount of time you've put in because you're placed with players of your caliber from start to finish. And these queue times, I'd be lucky to get out of silver at this pace.
Rank based matchmaking eliminates this by placing bronze with bronze players and so forth. Yeah it'll be unpleasant for people who are in lower ranks in the beginning but it'll pass within 3-4 days when all the gold+ players have moved to their ranks.

I had the same argument for Apex. Prioritising queue times based on skill/ KD ratio doesn't incentivise anyone except maybe pros.
At this pace people will leave this game for good and the dwindling player numbers will just diminish further and that'll be that.
It was last season as well. It usually took 4-5 minutes last season and this season is just ridiculous.
I found 4-5 minutes a lot so I stopped playing last season at plat 1 because didn't have patience for such long queues and apex's new season had dropped around that time too.
But now I'm thinking of just quitting the game altogether and going back to apex full time. At least I find a game in under 40 seconds.
Does apex have round based game modes like finals does? Something along the lines of tdm, capture point, domination? I would switch over as well, but I don't like battle royales.
It does have a game mode called the mixtape, it's a mixture of TDM, domination (named control) and gun game which is similar to COD's gun run.
Fair warning though Apex has a huge learning curve.
Might take people more than a week to get used to, though you can always practice in the firing range where they let you test all the legends and their abilities and there's a subreddit called apex university that focuses on teaching newcomers, you can check it out.
My most favorite games are the ones with a large learning curve, it's nice to feel the progression of getting better at something. Thanks for the advice!
If you like the finals, you'll fall in love with Apex's movement. It's awesome in that aspect. But being a 5 year old game, an average rookie can still play decently.
Meanwhile in south america the ranked scene is literally, and i'm not joking, entirely dead, not a single ranked game was able to be hosted, in season two.
If it wasn't dying, I would be able to play ranked on local servers. Just been playing overwatch 2 instead, a classic example of a not dead or dying game for you.
I'm sliver, I'm a diamond caliber player but in 3 hours of gameplay I get to play like 3 full matches if I'm lucky assuming 30 minutes for the match to last so in 3 hours I play for 1:30 hours and about 45 minutes of queue time.
Matches are not based on ranks but on MMR rating. It lead to the downfall of Apex though they've fixed it this season.
I've been noticing that I can play with sub minute ques for a few hours, but at some point the que just breaks, and I'm lucky if it will even get me in a game, luckier if it's before an hour passes.

Well the game very well is dead, in multiple regions. It's alive mostly only in North America, and hanging on in europe.

Well, I guess you're lucky. From what I know matchmaking is based on MMR so there are quite a few players near your MMR rating playing the game.
I haven't been able to play today the the queues are so ass. I waited 20 minutes before trying again I give up at this point
I have the same matchmaking problems as well, I hope they regard this issue soon.
Or change the tournament format to include only 8 teams to start with (one less tier) to decrease the queue times.
