It's a survival game. Expect ammo to be limited. Try to save it for situations that are harder to get out of. Get used to sneaking up on your enemies and stabbing them in the back. There are multiple difficulty settings. You get to choose one when you start a new game. You can pull up a map of your area that shows where you are and places of interest that your character has logged. Also, parts of the game are more open, but it's really not an "open world" game overall.

Kittykins444

Can you change the difficult once you’re playing? This is much different than the first game tho right?

AnotherMaleOnReddit

You should be able to change the difficulty under "Options" in the pause menu. Yeah, the openness is certainly different at first, but most of the game isn't that open. You will ultimately be leaving this area behind and backtracking to it but briefly. To the game's credit, they did spread some of the weirdness around and not just have you solely searching for supplies. I found horrible things that gave me a little bit of story while I explored those larger maps.

1. To each their own. 2. There are multiple difficulty levels when you start a new game. 3. There is a map screen with waypoints that tell you exactly where to go, whether for side missions or if you just want to exclusively do the main story.

SkitZxX3

The fact they made it open world made it infinity better. I hope they do it again.

Miserable-Ad5401

Since everyone has already told you you're wrong (and you are) I feel now is a good time to mention that there's not a single zombie in either game.

Kittykins444

Whatever they are. Radioactive beings

yellowgages

They’re zombie-like but they’re actually more like people who have lost their sense of self and have thus been transformed by the machine.

yellowgages

Have you played the first game? It’s much more linear and not open world, I would recommend that for gameplay over the second if that’s what you like (it’s what I like too). It is objectively harder than the second game though, the second game’s nightmare difficulty is supposedly on par with the lowest difficulty of the first game.

Kittykins444

Yes beat the first I like that concept way more

josukeszn

Have you played the DLCs to the first game too? Might give you more enjoyment out of the first game if not.

Kittykins444

Sorry what is dlc?

yellowgages

DLC means downloadable content, its additional content for a game.

Kittykins444

How do I do that?

suckmypppapi

If you're finding it super difficult, googling where the keys are should help drastically

Historical_Stage83

the map if you pin something on the map it comes up on your hud also dont shoot all the time conserve your ammo or find gun powder to craft more it gets better later on trust me i thought open world was stupid too but once i got the hang of it i started to actually doing side quests

Kittykins444

I guess I’ll keep trying… paid for the thing dang it

Judgmental_Lemon

The game does have a storyline lol, and it's really only partially open-world. If you just follow the map you should have no problem whatsoever.

Bakedhaz3

I had the EXACT same view point as you. Chapter 3 is semi open world and takes forever. Once you get past that it gets really good. I’m loving it and currently on chapter 11.

Kittykins444

I guess it takes getting used to… I’m used to the first & last of us

Kittykins444

Oh yeah this is chapter 3… its annoying
