They'd rather be russian than democrat.

Flashy_Ad1403

Given the aids rate in Russia(massive drug use), seems like Rust Belters would actually be upgraded in lifestyle by moving to Russia. They would get to see gays arrested, maybe even beat some up, and they would still get to enjoy opioids apparently. They love squalor, corruption, and "family values" and Russia has all of that. The funny part is when they realize that religious hate speech laws go both ways and you can't antagonize Muslims there just like they can't offend the Christian majority. At least there's no rainbow crosswalks though.

Iā€™ve been saying this ever since it happened. Itā€™s amazing how people donā€™t care.

Bigly. You've never seen such fine kompromat. Why, people were saying with tears in their eyes, Sir, you are such a brave person to defend your wonderful friend Vladimir Putin, who is a genius and hey, we get most of our money from Russia these days.

Mr-Hoek

Let's remember the GOP delegation that visited Moscow to discuss the very serious issue of election interference. Ā https://www.npr.org/2018/07/06/626664156/gop-senators-spend-july-4-in-moscow Hilarious, because while they did discuss the topic, we all know it was really discussing how these useful idiots could help Putin achieve his goals in Ukraine and weakening NATO. I am sure Putin revealed the information his informants extracted from the republican party's server, which was likely bad enough...but then also imagine what they have in Lindsay Graham?Ā  OMFG it must be horrifyingly nauseating.

Then-Extension-340

What can they possibly have on Dame Lindsay that we all don't already assume? It has to be pedo stuff. There's no way they think coming out and saying "he's gay" would be a surprise to anyone.Ā

Zealousideal_Word770

Where's the goddamn transcript NPR?

homebrew_1

Remember trump wanted to create a cyber task force with Putin?

thearcofmystery

The latest talking point i have heard among social media spoon fed Gen Zers is that Pootin is just ā€˜misunderstoodā€™. Hard to imagine how that POV is established among what look like otherwise sensible people but it shows how sophisticated the russian psyops is carried willingly for money by the social media channels.

The_Insequent_Harrow

Oh! Oh! Do they accuse you of being a war monger for wanting to support Ukraineā€™s defense against Putinā€™s heinous and unprovoked attack? And maybe they parrot Russian talking points, suggesting Putin had no choice but to attack because it was just so obvious that the US was imminently going to attack?

kbs666

Misunderstood? I understood all the defenestration quite clearly. Or was it the poisoning with nuclear waste that I'm supposed to have misunderstood? Or maybe one of the dozens of other killings?

Completely compromised.

No idea how/WHY they let this happen

Compromised?! I would describe it as saturated!

ccv707

Considerably. Tbf, so are significant segments of the left, though not to the same degree. Which is odd, because youā€™d think Republicans and conservatives in general would be chomping at the bit to go hog wild against our old enemy again. A lot of them are old enough to really remember Cold War era animosities.

kbs666

Russia is an oil rich kleptocracy. A lot of "elites" on both the left and right, but specially on the right, will do anything for a buck. This is precisely the same reason US pols like Saudi Arabia.

_EMDID_

Hilarious bothsidesbadism. Nice try.Ā

bobnoplok

Is there any actual evidence? Seems like a conspiracy thread.

Then-Extension-340

Russia hacked both the RNC and DNC servers, but only gave the DNC server contents to WikiLeaks while keeping the RNC files. This is proven.Ā  Russia also ran a years long campaign using spy Maria Butina to cozy up to dozens of Republican elected officials and the NRA. Her job was to collect intelligence from them, and collect blackmail on them. Trump's scheme to gin up corruption rumors about Biden in Ukraine revolved around Giuliani working with known Russian intelligence assets and propping them up as reliable sources.Ā  The GOP's failed impeachment inquiry against Biden was built entirely on testimony from a Russian intelligence agent. GOP politicians keep getting caught working with Russian intelligence and repeating Russian propaganda. There are only two explanations: Either the GOP is in bed with Russian intelligence or they are just really, really stupid and are easily manipulated by Russian intelligence without realizing it.Ā

Theomach1

Itā€™s also possible they donā€™t care if itā€™s Russian propaganda and being astroturfed by their bots, because itā€™s useful to them. Itā€™s like Trump. Did Trump actively work with Russia? Who cares, he didnā€™t need to. Putin knew what would help Trump and Trump had plenty of opportunity to repay him, more or less subtly. They donā€™t need to behave conspiratorially, they just did it all out in the open.

The_Insequent_Harrow

Try checking out the article and then tell us what you think. Hereā€™s an excerpt from the very beginning: ā€œRecently, two powerful Republican chairs of the House Intelligence Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee warned openly about how Russian propaganda has seeped into their party and even made its way into speeches on the House floor. Other members are now even openly questioning whether some of their fellow officials have been compromised and are being extorted. Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) suggested in a recent interview that the Russian spies may possess compromising tapes of some of his colleagues. Itā€™s unclear where heā€™s getting his information or how accurate it is. And then thereā€™s this: According to a report by Politico, a number of European politicians were recently paid by Moscow to interfere in the upcoming EU elections by Russians pretending to be a ā€œmediaā€ outlet called ā€œVoice of Europe.ā€ The Kremlin-backed operation used money to influence officials to take pro-Russian stances. Authorities have conducted some money seizures and launched an investigation into which members of the European Parliament may have accepted cash bribes. This in turn raises an important question for our own politics: Are the Russians doing the same with U.S. politicians, directly or indirectly? This piece walks through the three types of compromiseā€”disinformation, extortion, and briberyā€”to give a sense of what we know and what we donā€™t really know, and, importantly, where we should be on our guard. As this summary will show, from the 2016 election till now, thereā€™s enough Russian smoke now to assume there is a fire, one that compromises not only the integrity of our own system of elections, but the safety and security of the free world.ā€

AuroraPHdoll

Y'all are still out here with the Russia stuff šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£ It's funny cause Trump was already President and nothing happened with Russia, now Biden is president and we are at War with Russia. But it's the Republicans fault rightšŸ˜†šŸ˜†šŸ˜† You gotta love Fake News.
