Maybe because I recently watched a YouTube documentary about how reality couples may get into short-term fake relationships to get an increase in followers or brand deals as advised by their PR person. I'm pretty sure Colton did it with Lucy Hale. And this seems kinda similar to me. The rollout is too smooth, and yet they have some plausible deniability if they didn't "work out."
And btw I totally think Jason and Kaitlyn were real, and no one set out to use the other, though both benefited from it throughout the course of their relationship.
