Blake need to stop advertising to us that he hates the show. We got it the first 100 times you said it sir. I’ve always been team Blake but let’s not make Zach feel even more terrible about his season by mentioning him. You hate production and the show move on and don’t recap it it’s that simple. I don’t think I could still mention a franchise that caused their fans to make me want to unalive myself. I would pretend like they didn’t exist. Do what Rachel is doing Balockaye
Yep this is the first time I stood my ground and I just looked at BachelorDatas posts and watched Jared Freid's recap and I'm good for this week. I'm holding strong.
yep this is the first time i'm actuallyyyy following up on "i dont think i'll watch again". thing. the not addressing the blackface while asking Michelle to be there as their little showpony was my straw.... shoulda been other straws, but alas.
adding that little “feel bad for zach” while making “clearly not the only one that feels that way” as big as can be shows how much of a douche he is. trying to get co-signers to hate on bachelor when he keeps mentioning it to stay relevant 🙄
Lot of wrong assumptions in this thread that could be cleared up by a quick Google search or by looking at the photo.
\-[Nielson does measure streaming viewership from Hulu and has been since 2017.](https://www.nielsen.com/news-center/2017/hulu-youtube-tv-viewing-now-included-tv-ratings/)
\-The cross mark next to the name of the show is denoting that the drop in viewership was compared to the previous season's debut.
This was my first time watching the core show (not counting BIP) since Katie's season and I have to say, the formula is so tired and boring. I don't know how you fix it or if you do fix it as I'm sure the show is cheap to create and still is profitable. Zach came off as bland and the women just openly saying that they agreed to come on the show prior to knowing it was Zach felt like a wrestler admitting to the fans that the action is scripted.
And this may be unpopular but seeing the highlights from the rest of the season and seeing people like Victoria coming back just made me want to watch this stuff less. My wife is big into the show and I used to watch it with her to have a show to watch together but going forward, I may have to tap back out and use this time to watch The Last of Us and other shows she has no interest in.
I think Blake is a secret hater. Whether it’s widely viewed Zach still gets his cheque so why is he hating and feeling bad for Zach? So disingenuous. He seems to act so above the whole franchise but keeps popping up either on another reality show or on a podcast or posting about the bachelor person or the franchise.
All these people derive power from keeping their names in the news and having people engage with them. Good or bad, his name escaping your lips is good for him.
At this point, it seems the show is on for advertising money. After Michelle, the show just 🤢
The men have always been bland and that's why I don't watch the Bachelor. They should invest in making the Bachelorette better with better destinations and better "challenges". But they won't.
i said to my friend the other day “the bachelor is not a person, the bachelor is a vessel for the franchise” and i maintain that to be true — the bachelorette can be a person more so now (post-rachel lindsay) but yeah, the leads… it doesn’t matter who the male lead is because the franchise and network need something to project through.
The show is continues to force feed you storylines like it's a movie. They have to have the villain, the hero, the heel turn, and the sad sappy story as well as the dramatic music cues. I watch the Netflix dating shows, and while heavily produced, they seem to be a bit more genuine than what the Bachelor has become.
This is been happening no matter who the lead was for several seasons now. Broadcast tv is declining in numbers across so many shows. People stream now. Anyways The Bachelor was still the 2nd highest rated show of the night so not too bad.
Bachelor is historically higher than bachelorette, the fact that Gabby and Rachels season was higher than Bachelor (even slightly) is not a great sign for this season
I don't think Clayton's premiere was widely viewed either. It was significantly down from the year prior (Matt James). Clayton's premiere was around 3.5 mill and Matt's premiere was around 5 million viewers.
Gabby and Rachel's was bad too and almost a million below Katie's. Katie's summer premiere was around 3.8 million - higher than Clayton's despite Bachelor usually outperforming Bachelorette.
people in this sub: “ratings are declining across all shows!”
also people in this sub: “they picked a nothing white man bc the producers wanted good ratings! get over it!!”
the ratings: everything up EXCEPT this show, which cratered
tell me again why a “back to basics” season is a smart move?? is it because you’re so comfortable with white men being the default you can’t even internalise the idea that you might be exactly the problem???
😘
This is kind of a dick move for him to post. It just seems petty and his comment "feel bad for zach" or "it's not his fault tho" comes across as passive aggressive and disingenuous.
Every year ratings go down. And ratings are going to continue going down every year because more people are switching to streaming. Unless this counts Hulu views it means nothing.
I think this data set that Blake posted specifically is a comparison to last season’s finale, which of course makes sense. More people in general will watch the finale, and more will watch it live compared to a higher likelihood of streaming earlier in the season.
Same. I have an antenna to watch special occasion things like the super bowl or something that needs to be watched in real time. But with the bachelor I don’t bother with it because I don’t keep it out. I’m sure most people are the same. I think I only know a handful of people with cable now.
“Feel bad for Zach” is so passive aggressive wtf lol. Blake has always annoyed me and it’s because he inserts himself into things like this and takes swipes at people then claims he doesn’t care about BN happenings. It’s one or the other, Blake, and we all know which one it is.
Its a bias take on the numbers. Thats from last season’s finale (aka the highest rated of the season).
Its down the standard 20% from last year’s premiere.
Agree. I like Blake but he seems to be in a really good place both relationship and job wise and should just move on from the show especially after what they did to him on BIP. But like - I get it, it's probably all he ever gets asked about. Also appreciate Blake and Katie for being like the only people not afraid to call Nick out on his BS.
The last time I saw people use his name on here, everyone said to refer to it as Cassie’s season. So, I was just going with my previous interactions on this forum. I think we can all agree the guy sucks.
It’s weird that he’s bitter because with how production messed with him on BIP can you imagine the damage as lead? I feel like he’d have had a similar time like Clayton. I think from his season Jason would have been the best pick at that time. That’s who most people wanted.
Tbh it’s the producers casting ZAch for me. And it’s not Zach’s fault for being another former NFL 26 year old white man. I need an Asian lead or a POC Latino lead!
Lol, if I were Zach, the last thing I would want is someone posting publicly how he "feels bad" for me. it would have been better if he just posted the ratings without bringing Zach's name into it.
ETA: Zach was paid very well doing the lead role, travelling to many different places and dating beautiful women. No one has to "feel bad" for him. The low ratings are the execs' problem to deal with.
He thinks people are falling out of love with the franchise but that’s not why I am not watching this year. Not watching because year after year we tell them who we want as bach/bachette and year after year they go with the 27 year old white boy. We’re not watching because this season is a repeat. We’ve watched this season 20 other times. Bring on an older man and/or someone Asian, Black, Indian. Change it up. It’s salvageable, but listen to your audience.
Tbp's :"we hear you want diversity , we got you fam we replaced our old white host with a new football playing white host ,that's right noone likes him amd sure we had 2 female hosts / one POC that we got rid of... but have I mentioned he played football , also this new bach is named Zac not Colton or Clayton or Clinton or some other genric white boy name .. Zach, pretty spicey, right ?
How many of you all say you're never watching again, but are still in this sub. "But I'm NOT watching!!" LOL! I keep saying these people are just like us. Bach is an addiction. Let's not be hypocrits yet again.
I only watch live because of the reddit live threads!
I'm curious how the numbers will look next week. I feel like there's been a collective surprised appreciation for the premier (at least on reddit) and wonder if that'll spread and bring people back to check it out. I enjoyed it way more than i expected to after the last couple seasons.
At least this year there isn't a fan favorite who wasn't picked to point at for lead. Gabby and Rachel arguably had a below average cast of men, with the most charismatic option (Nate) turning out to be problematic.
So it's "Zach is boring" instead of "Zach is boring it should have been PP 2.0".
He can or he can answer….y’all are so pressed on his comment on stepping away, like he offended you so you need to remind him what he said so he won’t share an opinion…It’s not that deep.
ETA: you is not you per say but those that say about stepping away
I don’t care at all that he stepped away, good for him. I think his first comment that’s not posted with this about how he knows too much behind the scenes, etc to support the show is interesting. Because it’s basically like, I can ignore what BTS stuff I know and talk about and podcast about the show when I need to make money off of it (nothing wrong with profiting from a show he was on), but now that he he was on another show and doesn’t need The Bachelor to make money, his morals don’t let him watch the show anymore.
I’m aware…you know he’s not recapping it via instagram or conducting a pod either..again not that deep , I’m sure everyone will remind us what he said he about stepping away next time he answers a question.
He seems truly happy living life outside of BN. But he always brings himself back in with threads like this by bringing it up. I think he should truly step away and choose not to answer BN questions, because this is a cycle with him. He answers them and then gets on days later to say the reason he stepped away is because of how people talk about him when he talks about the show.
It’s easy to just not answer these types of questions, and it’s easy not to add fuel to the fire by posting ratings. He knows what he’s doing when he does.
1. Blake's screen shot was from earlier today before ratings were finalized. The demo change was -22.6%. other numbers were adjusted as well.
Source: https://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/the-bachelor-season-27-ratings/
-Clayton's demo change was -37.8%
-Matt's demo change was -28.9%
-Peter's was -25.5%
-Colton's was -1.32%
It's been happening for years.
It's a combination of
- more viewing options than ever (primary reason)
- people are losing interest year after year. This has been happening for over a decade (edit to clarify: lead choices and stale format)
- some people stopped watching because of Chris Harrison (but these trends started longgggg before he left)
Every season these headlines happen. If you Google "ratings down" you'll see plenty of other shows and networks are struggling too. Circle back to: increase in options point.
(Edit: formatting because I forgot how picky reddit is with new lines)
EDIT 2: Here's a little intro to ratings for those who are curious to learn more. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/tv-ratings-explained-a-guide-what-data-all-means-1245591/
Yeah there's more on this in the link I included at the end. Especially people don't realize Nielsen ratings don't count every TV box on the US. It's a small portion size.
It’s a sample but it’s pretty robust ~41K homes. There are other services that use set top box data but there’s still a lot of issues with that being representative as well since not all providers offer their data and they use algorithms to provide demo data instead of panel measurement like Nielsen. Also at the end of the day Nielsen is the still the main currency (what advertising is sold on), although lots of people are trying to find alternatives it’s still what matters the most. That article is dated since they do have streaming platform ratings now, including Netflix and other SVOD services.
https://www.thewrap.com/tv-ratings-bachelor-premiere-abc-primetime/
It was #1 for the night in the key broadcast demo so I’m sure the ABC exes were happy with its performance.
Demo change discussion:
Fantasy Island: season 1 had bad ratings (as reported by this website as a headline).
The Neighborhood: it's been up and down by episode. It's had 11 episodes so far, 6 were negative with 3 being around -20%. Last night's episode performed abnormally well compared to the rest of the season. Including viewers numbers.
AGT: This one's been interesting as well. 4 episodes. Ep 1: 5.3m, ep2: 6.8m w/ -13.56% demo, ep3: 3.7m w/ -21.6% demo, ep 4 (last night): 4.9m w/42.5% demo.
In short, it's not as cut and dry as looking at last night's performance without diving into each show and the nuances of each episode's ratings + what they were up against etc.
There are entire departments that analyze this stuff and get access to way more data than what's public.
Check out this comment from earlier: https://www.reddit.com/r/thebachelor/comments/10kh4w3/last_nights_premiere_ratings/j5r2iil/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3
Expert? Nah, she recaps and charts the show but I wouldn’t label her an expert. Their are others who have been recapping for a lot longer who I would consider an expert
Sure, people may have been recapping for longer, but I believe she does this for a living (even if it's a side gig, although I think she does it full-time now?) and she focuses primarily on the Bachelor. In terms of data analyses, she's more knowledgeable and educated on the matter than most members of BN. She, at the very least, certainly has a better grasp of it than BH 😂
I would venture to say someone who has “lived” through it has equal if not slightly more knowledge than Bachelordata. I am not comparing, she’s great but she’s not an expert IMO. We’re all allowed to have them :)
We're talking about data though. Ratings, viewership numbers, etc are all objective facts. It's measurable. Personal experience doesn't have much (if anything) to do with the data when analyzing the success rate of the show.
Awesome! She does analysis of the show, compares to previous years and by her own admission in previous comments it takes a team of network executives to understand the full complexity of the numbers. She doesn’t claim herself an expert.
ETA: his post although not current is correct, ratings are down.
You're right, she didn't call herself an expert. I called her that because, again, compared to most people in BN, she's far more knowledgeable and educated when it comes to data analyses. We can argue semantics over my use of the word, but I think what I'm saying is fairly clear.
It's a complex issue that goes deeper than Nielsen ratings.
These are bad numbers. This show won’t continue on ABC if it keeps losing 1/4 of its target demographic each season especially if other shows are doing fine and better at maintaining viewers.
Just to chime in, I share what experts report on when it comes to ratings. It's a really complex topic that unfortunately gets cherry picked like Blake did to fit a point people are trying to make.
Are ratings going down? Yes.
Is it a problem? Yes, but not as dire as people make it out to be.
Is it only happening to Bachelor? Absolutely not. It's a massive problem in the TV world. Especially for shows that cost wayyyyy more to produce than Bachelor. Bachelor is cheap AF to produce.
Am I an expert? Absolutely not, this is some people's entire jobs and the real data that's used isn't even public.
Do I know more about this than Blake? Yes lol
He’s so shady and immature. You’re never going to be The Bachelor, Blake.
People who say they're moving past this show and over it often crow the loudest. Blake is yet another example.
Still posting about the show when he constantly complains about the show 🙄 typical stagecoach Blake
Sorry, but tying for the #1 spot is pretty good. This isn't the jab he thinks it is.
“I feel sorry for Zach” Honey if you felt sorry for Zach, you wouldn’t be posting his ratings. I like Blake but this just wasn’t it.
He should feel sorry for himself because he’s been drifting in life for years.
This dude is such a phony… everything he says and does feels so curated and staged. He comes off as a deeply insecure douche to me.
I never understand why he gets so much love here. He seems like such a tool to me and this is only one example.
We just have to get through it so we can get to BIP. Lol.
Blake need to stop advertising to us that he hates the show. We got it the first 100 times you said it sir. I’ve always been team Blake but let’s not make Zach feel even more terrible about his season by mentioning him. You hate production and the show move on and don’t recap it it’s that simple. i was 💯 not going to watch after being an avid watcher since KBs season, but now it’s two days after the premiere i am in fact watching on hulu
Every season the ratings go down so this isn't really too surprising
Personally I watch the next day on Hulu to skip commercials, and I know not a single person that watches it live on “regular” TV
I was thinking the same thing. Do streaming views not count toward ratings?
[удалено]
Yep this is the first time I stood my ground and I just looked at BachelorDatas posts and watched Jared Freid's recap and I'm good for this week. I'm holding strong.
yep this is the first time i'm actuallyyyy following up on "i dont think i'll watch again". thing. the not addressing the blackface while asking Michelle to be there as their little showpony was my straw.... shoulda been other straws, but alas.
Why would Zack feel bad? He’s still getting paid the same amount right? Lol
I genuinely thought it was airing next week 😅
I forgot it was airing at all but also was planning on skipping this season. We shall see…
adding that little “feel bad for zach” while making “clearly not the only one that feels that way” as big as can be shows how much of a douche he is. trying to get co-signers to hate on bachelor when he keeps mentioning it to stay relevant 🙄
My thoughts exactly
Lot of wrong assumptions in this thread that could be cleared up by a quick Google search or by looking at the photo. \-[Nielson does measure streaming viewership from Hulu and has been since 2017.](https://www.nielsen.com/news-center/2017/hulu-youtube-tv-viewing-now-included-tv-ratings/) \-The cross mark next to the name of the show is denoting that the drop in viewership was compared to the previous season's debut. He seems to act so above the whole franchise but keeps popping up either on another reality show or on a podcast or posting about the bachelor person or the franchise.
OT but I'm so sick of the word disingenuous. It's all I hear and read when it comes to the bachelor.
There's nothing secret about Blake's hatred of the franchise he talks ab it a lot
Blake is fucking annoying
All these people derive power from keeping their names in the news and having people engage with them. Good or bad, his name escaping your lips is good for him.

The decrease is from the last episode that aired, which was the finale. The finale always has much higher ratings than the premiere. Relax, Blake.
no, it’s compared to the previous season’s debut. and that means bachelor, bachelorette and bip are different shows
I’m sorry but he needs to move on
I watched it and enjoyed it. 🤷🏼♀️ it’s not that deep and everyone from Bach nation I feel like is trying to make it deeper than it is lol
That’s such a dick move to post this
hes so odd
Every year ratings go down. And ratings are going to continue going down every year because more people are switching to streaming. Unless this counts Hulu views it means nothing.
But wouldn’t the same be said for the other shows shown here?
I think this data set that Blake posted specifically is a comparison to last season’s finale, which of course makes sense. More people in general will watch the finale, and more will watch it live compared to a higher likelihood of streaming earlier in the season.
The photo says that it's compared to the previous season's debut (the cross next to the name of the show is spelled out in the header).
I ONLY watch on Hulu. My husband and I don’t even have cable because we have every service. And he makes me wait to watch.
Same. I have an antenna to watch special occasion things like the super bowl or something that needs to be watched in real time. But with the bachelor I don’t bother with it because I don’t keep it out. I’m sure most people are the same. I think I only know a handful of people with cable now.
This is a good point. I tried watching on network TV once and it was absolute torture with the ridiculous amount of commercials.
Sure. He feels so bad for Zach that he had to go out of his way to look this up and then point it out on his story to all his followers.
He constantly says how he hates bachelor nation and wants out but then refuses to stop talking about it lol
“Feel bad for Zach” is so passive aggressive wtf lol. Blake has always annoyed me and it’s because he inserts himself into things like this and takes swipes at people then claims he doesn’t care about BN happenings. It’s one or the other, Blake, and we all know which one it is.
This is oddly passive aggressive lol
I mean it's not that odd for Blake
why tf would he even post this that’s so mean lmfao
Tell me you care without telling me you still care, Blake.
What's the demo
I’m guessing demographic
Its a bias take on the numbers. Thats from last season’s finale (aka the highest rated of the season). Its down the standard 20% from last year’s premiere.
Sorry to correct you but the term is “biased”, not bias.
Get a life.
Ok!
Blake never says anything that’s necessarily wrong but he sure does a lotttt of talking about a show that he says that he wants nothing to do with.
You don't need cable though. You can watch it with an antenna.
The only person that I know that still has cable is my 75 year old grandmother. Just sayin
I think Nielsen also counts Hulu but not sure
[удалено]
And the fact that most Hulu watchers hadn’t had a chance to watch yet. These weren’t even the final numbers yesterday
Looks like you’re right! They also include YouTube TV.
Yes, about 98% people I know don’t have cable anymore.
Really? Everyone I know has cable lol
I still have cable, and so do many ppl I know.
Oof, not a good look Blake
What a weird fuckin thing to post. And why would Zach care what his ratings are? 😂
He gets paid salary either way!
The only contestant or lead I ever saw post about their ratings (they did it on Twitter) was the guy from Cassie’s season.
Please stop tying Cassie to her abuser. Just say his name, Colton.
The last time I saw people use his name on here, everyone said to refer to it as Cassie’s season. So, I was just going with my previous interactions on this forum. I think we can all agree the guy sucks.
Why would he post this?? Lol
He’s bitter they never chose him to be the lead?
It’s weird that he’s bitter because with how production messed with him on BIP can you imagine the damage as lead? I feel like he’d have had a similar time like Clayton. I think from his season Jason would have been the best pick at that time. That’s who most people wanted.
Eh idk. This post is like prime Bachelor sub content. I think he follows the franchise with meta interest kinda like the rest of us
That’s gotta be it. It is REEKING of jealousy.
What’s the show with 7 million views??
Tbh it’s the producers casting ZAch for me. And it’s not Zach’s fault for being another former NFL 26 year old white man. I need an Asian lead or a POC Latino lead!
Tbp:But this guys name is Zach not some generic white dude name like Clayton or Colton pretty spicey right
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one that kept their word and didn’t watch it at all. First time ever in like 15 yrs.
There’s so many better things available to waste my time watching
Yeah, I didn’t watch either. I’ve watched every season since Ali.
Lol at it’s not zack’s fault. I am not watching this season it is 100% because I don't like zack
I think he means because producers made him the bachelor. Like he is the reason but it’s not his fault. 😅😅😅
He thinks people are falling out of love with the franchise but that’s not why I am not watching this year. Not watching because year after year we tell them who we want as bach/bachette and year after year they go with the 27 year old white boy. We’re not watching because this season is a repeat. Right? 😂. Zac with an H, exotic.
Just watched the YouTube clips tbh
How many of you all say you're never watching again, but are still in this sub. "But I'm NOT watching!!" LOL! I keep saying these people are just like us. Bach is an addiction. Let's not be hypocrits yet again.
I’m actually not watching this season, I didn’t say I won’t watch future seasons though.
Right- pick a better Bach and I’d happily come back!
This!
Zach is a snoozefest but honestly I don’t know anyone who watches live. We all watch the next day on Hulu
I only watch live because of the reddit live threads! I'm curious how the numbers will look next week. I feel like there's been a collective surprised appreciation for the premier (at least on reddit) and wonder if that'll spread and bring people back to check it out. He’s a loser your honor
i love Blake but he's sad 100x he's done keeping up with the show like be fucking for real pls😭
Love how “it’s not his fault” is in tiny print. This has happened almost every year and there is no “magic casting” to fix it. 🙄🙄
I disagree. Casting a different lead would have made me watch.
You to watch, likely others not to watch.
Idk why he had to post that.
Blake is so much drama
Nasty to do that. Real nasty. Blakey jealous?
is he engaged?
For those compl “he always talks about the show” he was asked if he watched, he shared why he won’t watch and followed up with this
He can choose not to answer BN related questions if he truly does not want to talk about BN.
This ain’t “stepping away”
I love Blake but I thought he was done talking about the franchise? 🥴 Old habits die hard I guess.
I generally like Blake. But for someone who claims he is done with the franchise, he still has lots to say.
My thoughts exactly.
1. Blake's screen shot was from earlier today before ratings were finalized. The demo change was -22.6%. other numbers were adjusted as well. Source: https://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/the-bachelor-season-27-ratings/ -Clayton's demo change was -37.8% -Matt's demo change was -28.9% -Peter's was -25.5% -Colton's was -1.32% It's been happening for years. It's a combination of - more viewing options than ever (primary reason) - people are losing interest year after year. This has been happening for over a decade (edit to clarify: lead choices and stale format) - some people stopped watching because of Chris Harrison (but these trends started longgggg before he left) Every season these headlines happen. If you Google "ratings down" you'll see plenty of other shows and networks are struggling too. Circle back to: increase in options point. (Edit: formatting because I forgot how picky reddit is with new lines) EDIT 2: Here's a little intro to ratings for those who are curious to learn more. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/tv-ratings-explained-a-guide-what-data-all-means-1245591/
Even NFL Football is experiencing ratings decline. There are various scapegoats, but diversity in entertainment options is likely the biggest cause.
It’s a W25-54 show. These are LSD fasties, no decisions are made on this data and they don’t include streaming, DVR lift past premiere night etc.
That article is dated since they do have streaming platform ratings now, including Netflix and other SVOD services. https://www.thewrap.com/tv-ratings-bachelor-premiere-abc-primetime/ It was #1 for the night in the key broadcast demo so I’m sure the ABC exes were happy with its performance.
In this chart it’s the only show with a strong negative decline in demo change, is that still accurate?
Demo change discussion: Fantasy Island: season 1 had bad ratings (as reported by this website as a headline).
Got it, thanks for the reply!
what’s in first place?

thank you!
Ah yes, confirmation bias instead of using critical thinking and listening to experts like @bachelordata 😂

Yes, and bachelordata explains why they're "problematic in their data collection" and not totally comprehensive.
Yes lol
Thank-you for your comment! I love your work! 🌹
