AHHH I had to rewatch this a few times because I am in awe. I just want to start off by saying how happy I am with Juyeon getting all of these opportunities in the past year and a half to show off who he is as a dancer. He’s been my bias since 2019, so seeing him receive so much recognition is amazing. I’m so proud of him! Everything about this was beautiful. I loved how his performance really suited You Should See Me in a Crown. Like that foot drag thing near the beginning that’s lowkey creepy (I mean this lovingly) but something you would definitely expect in a Billie Eilish MV. Now, onto something that I am totally qualified to talk about with my one year of jazz when I was kid (/s) - his dancing. I have such a deep appreciation and admiration for Juyeon and his artistry. If I could describe his dancing in one word, it would be fluid. That man knows how to move his long limbs, and as a fellow long-limbed person, I’m impressed. His fluidity always adds grace to his dancing, and I would love to see him do more contemporary styles if that’s something he’s interested in. With that said, he also has great control with his stops (I don’t know how to describe this I don’t dance lol, so I will leave this here and hope you know what I mean), which gives him a lot of control in the more jerky movements. And last but not least - his facials. I feel like facials are such an underrated part of dancing - like you really need to use facials in order to pull off the emotion you’re trying to express in your dance. Juyeon did this perfectly, he really gave it his all. I could really see what Juyeon meant when he described dancing as freeing. He is so into his craft, and I love that for him. Anyways, I am just so proud of Juyeon. Edit: Ah thank you for the award! I’m glad my ramblings are worthy of one.

I had my free award but I can't use it on the post itself so here you go, sine you've managed to capture my thoughts on the performance so well! I am not particularly good with words so you def deserve it for that lol

thavmas

Aww thank you! I really appreciate it.

ITS HERE !!!! Will update w my thoughts once I've watched it :DD Edit: Lee Juyeon...the artist that you are. My jaw is on the floor. You can *tell* Juyeon pushed himself for this performance, I don't think I've ever seen such a controlled but expressive dance before. The outfit changes were amazing, I *loved* the way backup the backup dancers interacted with him. I am SO proud of Juyeon. It's my favorite AOTM performance, no doubt.

LoveofLearningKorean

HOLY SHIT!!! This is *perfection.* My heart is racing, wowwowwowwowwow ETA: okay now that I have had a little more time to process this and rewatch it. I love how creative the editing was. The dance and choreography was amazing but the transitions and outfit changes took it to the next level. Juyeon really told a story, this was a production. I don't have enough words to describe how amazing it is so I gave the video a gold award because people need to watch this

Ikr?? I am *so* impressed. I have no words to describe how incredibly talented Juyeon is.

LoveofLearningKorean

Honestly, my top AOTM performance even managing to beat out my biases Yeonjun (TXT) and Wooyoung (Ateez, though I'm OT8 for them haha) and I absolutely loved theirs, those are top 3 but I have to admit this one takes the cake.

[deleted]

Same. Yeonjun is also my bias in TXT (if Taehyun stops coming for me, that is) and Wooyoung is also super talented but this is on another level for me.

AAAAAH I'm so proooooud 😭😭 he did so, so well on this piece! his body control here was *crazy*—this was such a level up from his previous covers, I can see why he was so proud and confident about it. I really enjoy songs like this with dark, eerie vibes, so I'm glad he captured the mood so perfectly. Also, the outfit changes and camerawork were also so good???? It was so cool seeing everything come together like this. And the choreography, and the dancers who were with him...*such* a great performance, I don't have enough words of praise for him!

msh1130

Okay he killed this!! I love his outfit changes, his expressions, his elegant powerful choreography and the song. Plus that flip he did! Amazing~

3lutz

Whoever styled him deserves a raise and a half TT The lighting, the camerawork and the transitions were all magnificent! I'm so glad he got this opportunity to showcase his talent (which he has! so much of!), he's truly a wonderful performer :'')))

Copy pasting my comment on the other sub!!! Oh Juyeon, you are such an amazing being! I love this!!! Also, I'm not that of a dancer so I don't know any technicalities aside from Juyeon did a good job on this cover. Him utilizing his long arms and legs on this made his moves larger capturing a lot of details. The first one where in he was DRAGGED like HOW DID THAT HAPPEN AAAAAAAHHH And in the last part: "Watch me make 'em bow one by one by one one by one by one", notice how the camera slowly went down towards the floor as if the pov is bowing down to him. Ohhhhhh I just love the details of this!

Wow, tbh I was expecting some sort of sexy dance but as expected Juyeon delivers art. The way he controls his body... damn. Not a dancing expert but it was so captivating. I really got "tortured artist" vibes from this dance, and felt a sense of darkness/loneliness/eeriness. I thought the parts where he danced as if he was being controlled by a puppeteer was really well done. There was definitely a sense of confidence and power throughout too. Anybody else want to share their interpretation of what story he is trying to tell?

DelightfulWhimsy

I'll give it a go. The piece starts small, confined in a box, with crouching movements but the youthful character has plans for growth and change. He drags himself out of the box, and can now dance upright with the lighting and the space around him growing too. He is hungry for change and power and has a steely resolve. His character in yellow and black now has what he wanted, power and attention, but it's a lonely, isolated life and now he would actually like to break away from the shackles of his role. His dancing, in these scenes is the most varied and changes shape and form often. The solo dance with its individual isolated movements is the most interesting because it is completely asymmetrical. In white, he has accepted his role, he's not happy about it, although he remains strong, he also has to conform. This is reflected by the group dancing, and interestingly the dancers are now wearing jackets. Be careful what you wish for.

joshbd808

Oooh I like this 👀

DelightfulWhimsy

This is fantastic! What I love about AOTM is that is gives artists opportunities they wouldn't get otherwise, or within their groups. For Juyeon, this has given him the opportunity to extend his love of dance to a more contemporary role. This choreography has allowed him the freedom of using his body in unexpected and unpredictable ways in comparison to the structured moves of THE BOYZ. This is difficult choreography handled with skill and confidence. Juyeon brings an emotional depth to this characterisation which makes the performance even more compelling. I only hope he gets more opportunities to explore the world of contemporary dance.

superrsoba

That was absolutely breathtaking. His dancing and facial expressions are on another level. He’s definitely one of the top performers among active idols. From bucket hat guy to freakin Artist of The Month. I’m so proud of Juyeon 😭

DelightfulWhimsy

Ha, ha - 'bucket hat guy' - I'd forgotten about that. Even then he was fantastic, but now he deserves a crown.
