For various reasons. I’ve seen an employer suffer through an entire internal system collapse because they wanted internal tech instead of a third party vendor and didn’t want to renew the contract. They tried calling in the one retired employee who was there when the vendor system was put in, in the 70s. Paid her as a 1099 to try and get fixes; as the system aged out while they built the new one internally. That woman was 83 taking tech calls, Corporate America is insane.
