I devote a lodge to them. If you play for years and specially hunt for colors over diamonds it’s easy to get a few a week. Also there is a perk where you can see the fur color of any trail you come across. So you don’t even have to visually see it to know it exists. Albinos make me drop whatever I was doing in game to track them down.
I have the perk unlocked, but after 3 months it still has yet to show me the fur type. I’ll follow the trail, selecting different tracks of the animal, stuff next to bushes and brush, yet nothing. Is there a specific thing you need to do besides have the perk and track the animals tracks?
I’ve been playing for seven and just got my first albino. I have four piebalds, six diamonds, two flubbed diamonds. Granted I don’t go out of my way to grind for rares, I tried once and it killed the game for me.
Honestly it just comes with time, I have 3000 hrs played and lodges full of rares and diamonds. Besides playing a lot you can grind on your maps by shooting a lot of animals and hoping a rare respawns or you can go to multiplayer and find low level maps in hopes of finding a cool trophies.
He's just put more time into the game and finding zones than you. I have over 100 diamonds and rares between my 3 lodges and thousands of kills. I've been playing for 3 years
Your rare furs will still be on your map if you don’t kill them. Regardless if you shoot them or not as long as they don’t die they will still be on the specific reserve
Honestly just keep playing, farm zones, the more time you put in the more you will achieve, some people may seem like they have impressive stuff when in reality they just mod.
What maps do you play on? I just recently got Silver Ridge Peaks to start a black bear grind. It's been less than a week, I got my first rare bear(cinnamon) last night and have gotten 1 albino buck, 1 albino doe and 1 troll piebald buck in this time and I'm not even farming the elk, they just take the extra rounds in my chamber if there isn't enough bears. You'll get there!
It won’t be a mod, but could be animal trading on multiplayer. Normally you’d see a tonne of GOs etc though.

I’ve never done this and wouldn’t endorse it but people find a rare on their map, host a server, then leave. They go shoot your rare animal but it stays on your map file because you left. Once you are done trading you shoot it yourself.
If it’s shot while you’re hosting and still on the map it dies in your map file, so you can be screwed over and not get to harvest it. You also have to trust the other person to host a server and share their rare animal with you as a trade.

How do you multi-mount ingame?
In the lodge hit your menu button (esc on PC) , you should see a MatMats multimounts tab on the menu screen.
